A decent place for this, good to bring the family. Decent priced and have specials everyday, on a Friday it's the buy one burger 🍔🍟 get one free which is what we took. Nice atmosphere inside and the decor. Plenty to choose from in the menu and drinks. Being British but from South Africa the specials really do help the wallet. Will definitely be back before I go back.

Went Sunday afternoon. Surprisingly quiet and seated quickly. Ordered through the app which was easy. Food came quickly was extremely tasty and well presented. We had the mixed grill and were absolutely stuffed so well worth the money. Will definitely go again.

Si happy we found this place on our way back to Chelmarsh on New Year’s Day. The fish’n’chips was fresh and delicious, my partner had the chicken kebab which he enjoyed as well - apart from them missing to add the chilli mayo in it, but apart from that food was tasty and the prices were decent so can’t complain

First time visiting the Wrekin Giant. My first impression was it looked a nice place in a good location and it wasn't too busy. All but one of our meals ordered were ok, especially the Crispy Chicken Sandwich which was VERY nice. It was only the Steak & Ruddles Ale Pie and Mash that wasn't very good. The pie was ok but not fantastic, but it was the mashed potato that REALLY let it down. The mashed potato seemed like powdered mash that hadn't had enough water added, it had a sort of rubbery look and texture to it, it was very thick indeed (see photo). My only other negative was the condition of the bench seats that were very worn out and ripped. Apart from that everything else was fine. Staff were nice and the table condiments were a good brand. The menu had a good range of options, however I would have liked to have seen a photo of each meal to help with choosing and to see what I was actually ordering. Overall a nice restaurant to eat.

Although we had not booked, a young waiter found us a table. The food was quite nice, typical value for money pub grub. We were served by several members of the waiters team yet none of them asked if the food we ordered was alright. I found this a little unusual and also heard the question asked at the next table. Overall impression was mediocre everything considered.

What can I say ! First time at this restaurant and all four of us oldies had a lovely time. Wine Wednesday ! £5 a bottle ! Good plentiful tasty food at an unbelievable price . Great friendly service abd exactly what we wanted whilst on holiday. We will certainly be back. A four star review only but for the fact that it needs a lot of TLC in the furniture department. Despite it being quite busy we were seated quickly. I ordered the falafel burger as a double which was a little dry. My friend also ordered the falafel burger but upgraded to mac 'n' cheese fries. Sadly, my friend who is vegetarian received mac 'n' cheese with smoke bacon fries. After notifying the bar maid of the mistake his fries were swapped and a fresh plate bought out. We ordered and additional basket of halloumi fingers with were much better than expected. Other than the mix up with the order it was a pleasant experience.

I enjoyed this pub, quite a nice mixed grill I had to eat, this is part of the hungry horse pub chain. We did not need to prebook and the pub was able to accommodate us, excellent service, I will visit here again.

Ordered through the app. Pub was nice and clean and warm. Bar staff were good. Unfortunately we had two waiters, one female, one male, and neither brought us cutlery. We had a side that was forgotten, we asked the male server for this and he said he would be right back. We werent the first table to be missing food. At this point we'd had our mains and we were waiting for the side to come back so we could ask for cutlery. Five minutes after receiving the mains the manageress(?) had come past and seen we were without cutlery so gave us some. My partner had finished his meal when the manageress came past and I had to ask again for the side. I then had nearly finished my meal before the side arrived. However, the food, once received, was very nice and the manageress was very attentive to ourselves and other customers.

Visited this restaurant a few times and I’ve never once had any issues. The food is always cooked to the highest of standards, comes hot and the service is always excellent. I’ve never had any problems being seated as there is plenty of spaces. The staff are very friendly and always have a smile on there faces. I would highly recommend using this restaurant. The pub/restaurant from the outside and inside looks very impressive. The downstairs or ground floor seems very compact but in normal situations that would not be a problem. However as we are in and still have the COVID-19 virus around, I think the space, the closeness, is a problem. That aside, the staff at the pub/restaurant seemed to be helpful and friendly apart from two waitresses behind the bar when we went to place our food order. I think they were on their break which is not a problem but they saw us waiting to order and they didn't have the respect to tell us that they are on their break and will get someone else to attend to us. The was not that bad apart from one of the starter's being a bit too oily and the chief put a bit too much seasoning in the food and had to return it for another. Overall, not a bad night out with the lads. The cost of the food was pretty good. Could do with some fine tuning to the food and training of staff. If they can put in the improvements then I would give them a second chance and if not then I would not take my family there.

Went here in the middle of a motorway journey with the family to avoid over priced service station takeaway. Its not far from M54 junction 3 or 4 into Telford. Car parking on long stay was reasonable, couple of quid. (Maps directed us not to a car park but they are close by). Staff were very welcoming and fit us in when it was quite busy with family shoppers (2pm Saturday). We were seated and ordered at the bar, the staff were super quick and cutlery came before my wife had even returned from ordering at the bar. Food came quick and a manager guy was exceedingly helpful offering sauces and extra gravy, corrected a order mistake quickly and without fuss, he was a huge credit. Food itself was hot and fresh, wife enjoyed her "mix it up sizzler", sons enjoyed their kids meals, my cod and chips was big and good fish but perhaps slightly under cooked as the batter was a bit claggy/slimy, the fish itself was fine and wasn't overwhelmed with mountains of chips. Peas which came tasted flat and not fresh so were a bit of a let down. All said, family fed with proper food and back on the motorway in about an hour for under £30 including drinks (20% AA discount applied, maybe £35 without that).

Food pretty average, on a par with Wetherspoons. Menu is standard pub grub. Highlight of the menu are the sizzle plates in my opinion. I don't think an awful lot of love and care goes into the preparation and serving of food (I speak from experience as a chef) There needs to be more care on the cleaning of tables and general hygiene of cutlery and condiments etc. I found the waiting staff lacking care and sullen but bar staff more professional and capable.

Amazing location with lovely interiors, staff went above and beyond in being helpful, advising local places to watch the football etc. Food came really quickly but was freshly cooked. Overall super pleased with the experience and can't wait to come back. On a sunny day, I'd definitely recommend sitting outside for some lovely views over the water and Telford Town Park!

So i came here for lunch,first visit.I was told that i could app order,so i thought great.Sat down promptly,ordered on the app.A waitress bought my food over very quickly,however much to my disappointment she said cause i never ordered a drink with my offer meal i wont get one.At that point i thought ,right i wont come here again.This wasnt customer service.No one told me that i had to select the drink,i thought it auto added when i clicked offers. However a chap came over and said he would sort out my drink for me,excellent customer service.I am glad he did as the food was great and now i will be coming here again.He recommended a zalfrazi next time,really polite and pleasant guy.Excellent service.

It's a shame that the star rating can't be split between different aspects of a review because the three star rating is due to the long wait we had between being seated and our orders being taken. They have implemented table service here since I last ate here and it looks like they've not quite got the system working yet; we had to wait nearly half an hour from being seated before somebody came to take our order. This is despite asking two separate staff if we could please order. Each one saying "I'll get somebody to come to you" and then walking off; why not just take our order? Once our order had been taken the staff were friendly, attentive and the service was very good with my granddaughter being provided with crayons and colouring book to help keep her amused The food is very nicely presented and cooked and exceptionally good value for money. Once they've sorted out their table ordering system, I wouldn't expect to be seated more than ten minutes before being asked if I'd like to order, this will be a good regular place to eat.

Hungry Horse restaurants are great, this one in particular. The decor and facilities are modern and clean and the food is nice and fair for the price. These should be reviewed as cheap eats, not reviewed based on fine dining experience. We had the chicken wings to start which were nice but there was barely any sauce on them so they didn't have much flavor. The mains we had (lasagne and chicken with bacon and cheese were fine). The waitress who served us at the bar didn't seem like she wanted to be there and she wasn't the most friendliest and didn't smile at all. This place could have easily got an excellent rating if the customer service was a bit better and they got the basics right with the food.

The menu offers something for everyone and the bar/restuarant is in a very picturesque place overlooking Southwater. I go here fortnightly with a group of friends at around 7pm, just to give you some reference. Staff are normally quite polite, and food usually comes within about 15-20 minutes of ordering. They are very generous with food portions. When they say big plate special, they mean it. If you're an average adult, expect to ask for a doggie bag! You do get a lot of young families here, especially with the purpose built booths with TVs playing kids shows. This does mean it is usually quite loud, but bearable. All in all a good experience and a nice place to come with groups.

As with the majority of places this year booking a table is advised. On arrival, hand sanitizer was available and we were able to log in using the NHS Covid-19 app. We were welcomed into the venue and shown to our table via a one way system. The Wrekin Giant has done a great job in socially distancing other diners and the staff are doing a fantastic job under the most difficult of circumstances. Once seated we ordered both food and drink via the Greene King app. There was a good selection of food and drinks available to order and we didn't have to wait long before our drinks were brought to the table. Our food followed shortly afterwards and the service was friendly and polite. The quality of the food was excellent and great value. Well done to all the staff, it can't be easy operating under the current guidelines. I can highly recommend The Wrekin Giant and look forward to visiting again soon.

Portions are well sized, good value for money on the menu. Drinks are typically priced for a pub chain. Chips were very good. Had the New York chicken which was smothered with so much BBQ sauce nothing else could be tasted however. The app was unusable on the day. Most of the UI was broken and when finally being able to reach payment it applied a Mon-Fri offer on a Saturday and failed to go through. When going to the bar there were approximately 5 groups queued to order at the one manned till. When a girl came from the back and opened a till she began serving people appearing at the other end of the bar rather than those queued waiting. When being served she was rather abrasive and rude but our waitress was very well mannered.

Myself and my family are Hungry Horse veterans. We have been eating at the hungry horse for years now, and find ourselves eating out at your numerous establishments very frequently, for family birthdays And just general social gatherings. As a collective and a strong family of 12 with partners and parents we find ourselves thinking we eat at the Hungry Horse that much perhaps we should get shares. We are frequent Tuesday diners, And have even abbreviated the Big Plate Special to BPS, this lingo is like family royalty. With this explanation I am sure you can begin to understand we are very regular to the hungry horse, And the way in which it runs. We eat here because the service is normally fantastic, and the quality and quantity of the food, for what you pay, is phenonomal I wish I could tell you that this was always the case. Unfortunately this evening we had a very bad taste left in our mouths, not through the food, but for the poor level of service and high levels of arrogance from the duty supervisor. I am all for supporting cheap food, but compromising customer service is a disgrace. Myself and my wife arrived at 17:55. We had a little walk around and located a clean table with 12 seats. We were quite shocked that this did not have a reserve sign, it's a Tuesday night, And BPS normally has the place booming. This evening was a late planned family outing, so we couldn't believe our luck when we walked in to find such a perfect table. The family slowly started to arrive, And by 18:15 all 10 of us plus baby were present. At 18:30 the only supervisor on shift approached our table. She abruptly asked whether we had booked a table, to which we replied no. She then informed us that this table was already booked. Being a weekly customer I am aware that Hungry Horse policy, As with most restaurants, is to put a reserved sign on the table a short while before the booking, to insure that the table doesn't get taken. However today there were no signs to deter us from the table. In most situations we are compliant and considerate towards the wishes of the staff. However to let us sit down, order drinks, And start to feed my 8 month old baby his food in his high chair, And leave us for 35 minutes, before asking us to move, is an outrage. We are loyal customers to the Hungry Horse and the BPS. But this has infuriated myself and my family beyond belief. And despite the fantastic food and outstanding value for money, I can't see us returning. The lady said she found us another table, a nice big round one, with a table next to it, so we could sit on two tables and we would almost be together. Fantastic. Spending a family meal sat on two tables is not my idea of an accommodating night out, and really dampened the mood for all involved. We probably wouldn't have minded so much, but the request to move was not a request, but more of an instruction, with an apology that was less convincing than me opening up my seventeenth deodorant set with excitement on Christmas morning. The supervisor basically accused us of hiding the reserved signs, which were nowhere to be seen, I emplore you to get locate the CCTV from the pub to prove that as loyal customers we would not perform such a trivial and amateur manaevoure.
