Great service and food, we had Sunday lunch which was all cooked very nicely. Only segregation would be to thicken the gravy and was a bit bland.

This is a regular Wednesday tea stop with my 95yr old mum who has dementia and two of my grandchildren (4 & 3 Yr old). The food is a good and the atmosphere is pleasant. The staff are very accommodating and friendly, nothing is to much trouble.

Visited on a Tuesday evening at 7.30pm as part of the Eat out to Help out promotion running throughout August. Found the food to be of good quality and thoroughly enjoyable with large portions. Service was good and I'm sure social distancing and extra precautions having to be taken in the kitchen area could make the service seem slower than usual for some people.Great venue and a recommend from me. I was very impressed with the three course menu for £10 (after the £10 discount) which we ordered from.

We had dinner here: the chicken burger and the lamb Henry. The lamb was very good! With delicious mash and gravy. The chicken burger very good too, with fresh tasting ingredients. And we saw the famous Antrobus soul cakers !

Went for a meal with friends. The staff are brilliant. Very friendly and chatty. Meals are well cooked with plenty of choice. Plus they sell local beers such as Cheshire Cat, very nice! Would genuinely recommend a visit.

The manager was very helpful. We had made a reservation two weeks prior to going which made it rather disappointing when we had to wait 45 mins for the food to come, after ordering. This was understandable in today's climate but made it rather fraut with six children in tow. Food was good when it arrived. Ordering ahead would be a good idea.

Absolutely the best place around for a Sunday roast. A good choice of meats and a choice of plate size. I find the small plenty for me. My family all had the small size, our friends had a medium with different meats and a gluten free dinner. Excellent selection of vegetables too. One could ask for more potatoes and gravy if wanted. Booking is a must as this place is very popular.

There were 7 of us in for a meal and we had to book even though it was for only 5-0pm. It was completely full. We had to wait quite a long time for the meal, understandably, as it was so busy but we'll worth the wait. The food was delicious and hot. When I saw the size of my meal ( I ordered a small ) I couldn't believe how big it was and I thought I'll never eat all that, but it was so good I ate the lot. They have 3 different size portions - highly recommended.

Not great sorry. Pate was awful, tasted of water and the toasted beead was stale. Roast was good enough. Personally didn't feel able to give feedback as we weren't asked how everything was.

Service was brilliant as staff were lovely & friendly and very very helpful, but the meals took ages to come. Not impressed that the coffee machine was broken so couldn't have a latte. Meal wasn't bad but the cauli & broccoli were a tad hard & not sure what happened to the cabbage! Mash potato was gorgeous & so were the roast spuds. Turkey was dry & the lamb was very fatty. Ordered quite a few different things on the dessert list, but one they didn't have. Surprisingly! Good job I didn't want just a latte & elderflower & gin cheesecake! Though the rest of the desserts were lovely. It was quiet & not over crowded & no music was blasting which is rather annoying when your having a family meal & your talking. Overall a 3.5 star rating though the staff were lovely but the food let it down a bit, sorry.

Staff is very friendly and helpful but I would rate food as average. I had Sunday roast with turkey and it wasn't great. Cauliflower was very overcooked and blunt. All dish really tasteless. Not my cup of tea. Atmosphere was nice tho. Unfortunately there was also mistake with one dinner and drink.

We went here for the wake after my Dad's funeral. The manager was lovely and did everything they could to make a difficult day as easy as possible. The buffet menu they provided was really tasty and we had no problems with running a tab for drinks. The actual building is a lovely old style pub, dark wood and a traditional feel. They have their own micro brewery. Outside they have a big bowling green and some seating, not particularly child 'friendly' (no playground etc) but accommodating of the children we had with us. No dogs inside. Not been back since, but wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

It has a long time since I've been to the stag. The place has not changed, the same old English pub that I liked. The staff and the food though have changed for the best. Welcoming staff, smiling and ready to help when serving very good pub food meals. According to a friend of mine who is fan of pie. I did appreciated the lamb and the crumble !!😁 Definitely a place to go for fir a traditional English friendly lunch !

There's a whole page of gluten free options to choose from (albeit maybe not entirely suitable for coeliacs due to cross contamination but fine for my needs). We were there for a funeral wake and they provided for my dietary needs without fuss. Shame it's not local to where we live or it'd be my local given today's experience!

Old fashioned pub! Sunday lunch is usually good!! But not always. Service is good but not many smiles :( Last visit there was confusion over a coffee so it took 20 to 30 minutes to receive. Advised one of the senior waitresses who did not apologise but did ensure the coffee arrived. The very polite young waiter then brought the coffee and apologised. I wish the experienced member of staff had apologised and not left it to a newer member of staff.

We had a lovely meal at The Stag at Walton, as always. I have to eat gluten free and I had a beautiful roast beef dinner with gf Yorkshire pudding and gf gravy followed by the best sticky toffee pudding ever - gluten free! It was so light, I'd love to know how they make it - made on the premises. My husband had chicken covered in bacon and cheese, also delicious, and a salted caramel chocolate pot. Would definitely recommend The Stag

Booked a table for a Friday night. Pub was fairly quiet. We were shown to a table and given menus and after 10 minutes nobody had come back to us. We then discovered that you have to order at the bar, although we were not told this when we were seated. We then moved tables due to a drunk man spouting out foul language. Food was average and overpriced for what it was. My partner had a Stag pie that was quite small, I had Lamb Henry, which was OK but teamed with masses of mash. Side of cauliflower cheese was uninspired and a bit tasteless.

Another enjoyable evening was had by my party when we visited the Stag last Saturday evening [ March 14th] Their high standards of food and service have been maintained so that will promote further visits. One question to the owner Stephen. Have you relaxed your rules regards children being allowed in the main dining room? One of the reasons we book in at the Stag [ apart from the good food ]is that we prefer to dine in an adult only environment. This time we counted 4 children in this area. Although on this occasion there was no problem have you now changed your policy concerning the presence of children.?
