Reviews of The Stretton Fox
C. L.
Went here this evening after recommendation from taxi driver. I was over working and decided to try it.
I went for scallops and prawns for starter followed by their rib eye. Both very good and served in a beautiful quaint environment. All reasonably priced. My old ask is the staff keep their private conversations for behind doors and speed up a little just a little....thanks for a beautiful meal
T. P.
lovely pub and it was truly amazing food I would 100% recommend for anyone to visit if they are in the area. Like I was 😀

First time visiting this lovely pub a couple of weeks ago and it was truly amazing. The pub was very comfortable for a relaxing drink/coffee and the food was so good we visited again the next day before we left the area.
If you love the feel of comfortable cottage style, dog friendly (in and outside) pubs, you will love this place. The staff where very friendly and welcoming with us, would 100% recommend for anyone to visit if they are in the area.

The food was exceptional. We are both chefs and the standard was brilliant. I know how difficult it is to make a medium rare ribeye steak and it was faultless. The pork belly just melted. Flavours and seasoning were exceptional. Well done Alex, you are a tremendous chef. We also had starter and pudding which were also as good.
The service from Liv also was 100% fantastic. She was attentive, polite and you must be extremely proud to have her as part of your team. What an asset.
All in all it was a great night out in a pub that was very busy but they still managed to keep everything perfect. Thank you for a lovely time.

Visited again yesterday for evening meal. I believe our chef was Alex.... can honestly say this was the nicest food I have had while eating out in a long time. I had Roast Trio of meats which were cooked to perfection. Vegetables were delicious and the cauliflower cheese was outstanding. Liam served our drinks and checked on us numerous times to see if we needed anything else. Service was fantastic. Josh took great care of us and gave advice on the menu... and I have to say his recommendation of the Banoffee Pie couldn't have been better. Overall experience was second to none.... atmosphere was lovely...A++++ would most definitely recommend to all and undoubtedly will be back. Thank you for a great meal and amazing service. What can I say such a beautiful pub with stunning gardens to sit outside and take in not only the scenery but the tranquility of the surrounding nature.
Great food cooked and served beautifully. Lovely friendly atmosphere.
Reasonable prices for all home made cusine. Family and dog friendly also 👌
Nice big sign at the front door says it all.
"Muddy boots and dogs welcome"

Food was lovely. Service was friendly and helpful. Seating not the best. Overall experience was good. Didn't complain about seating as they were busy and I assumed the empty tables were reserved for later as it was the day before Mothers day. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. Will be back.

lovely food, lovely staff, shame about them bring so short staffed they really shouldn't take so many bookings, waited 20 minutes and 3 reminders for our wine, water took even longer, and ended up ordering another bottle before it came, starter took ages to come out but was lovely, the main was about 45 minutes later, just as it came out the fire alarms went off, no fire but took a while to ho off.
I would definitely go back, but not the place to go if you want a quick bite before heading somewhere

Excellent service all round. Food (cooked by Brian) was really nice in every course (we each had three).
The server, Zara, was attentive, friendly and checked in with us regularly. When my steak needed changing as there was a minor miscommunication over the degree to which it was cooked, it was sorted with no fuss in a friendly manner which I really appreciated
M.
Has a lovely ambiance, staff helpful and friendly and give great service. Food really good quality and well worth a visit
L. B.
Lovely food, great service. Friendly and relaxing.
M. L.
Stopped off here on our way to Chester and that was a good choice. Lovely beer garden and good food, would return!

Best dishes, so delish👌🥳 we were in Warrington and this was our daily “go-to”

We've been going to Stretton Fox for many years, the service is almost always brilliant. The food is always good and we love the small pud and coffee deal. No complaints, although one thing would be good, please decommission the wood table in the section near/to the left of the entrance door, it has many grooves in it and you can see the collection of 'bits' (assuming food) along the grooves, it's a little off putting. Apart from that bravo, excellent place to go.
C. c.
Food great...staff lovely...very dog friendly...always very accommodating with us ordering a veggie pizza on a sunday.
Food always quick to come out, hot and well presented. Good value for money on starters and mains but find deserts over priced at about £7.50
Make sure you book
N. J.
What a lovely hidden gem 💎 Food was amazing 👏 😋 restaurant quality. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. To top it all off we were able to take our dog 🐕 with no problems and plenty of places to sit as well.

Lovely place an service nice seating area outside, disappointed in the meals, wasn't much to choose from on menu, wish I had got the roast dinner as they looked lovely, I got the fish & chips the chips were dry, hard an tasteless. Who I was with got the chicken schnitzel an chips forgot to take pics, but they were disappointed in presentation an portion size was small but placed on big round plate, not even a side salad to make plate more presentable.
R. T.
Great service. Very accommodating. Request for a round table was no problem. Advice with gluten free options was excellent. Food was very good. Nice atmosphere. Little hiccup with using a voucher was dealt with swiftly and professionally.
A. Y.
Booked here for a birthday meal wow what great food. Pizza was massive and beautiful. Fish and chips cooked to perfection, hunters chicken was fantastic with plenty of sides with them. Well worth a visit.
N. B.
Great food but no table service.
We booked with two dogs and a toddler and requested a high chair during the booking. On arrival, we were given our table right near where the staff service area and order point, but there was no high chair, we waited for awhile before having to ask for one. Again, despite there being several members of staff and no table number no one came to see us to take our order or say we needed to order at the bar. We are local and have come many times and have always had table service, even in the dog friendly area. We went up and ordered our own drinks and food. Which was a shame as there were several staff who were literally stood between us and the bar a foot away chatting. But I understand if it’s changed to self service, it just seemed a shame that we had to ask every time we wanted/needed something (high chair, cutlery, menus, spoon, extra plates, sauces). However the food was lovely.

We went on a Tuesday night and the place was very busy, which is the best endorsement a business can have!
The food was excellent. The only niggle was that I asked for a second drink which never arrived. Happily it wasn't on the bill.
M. D.
I visited recently and was told I could not eat outside even though they were serving good outside 2 months ago.
Then discovered some of the staff didn't even know what time they were serving food until. Come on Vintage inns train your staff please and recruit enough people to run the bar. Waiting times can be 5 to 10 minutes...
Otherwise a nice venue in a very convenient location.
T. R.
Set back from the M56 this is quite a busy pub. Plenty of parking and some garden space. Staff busy but attentive and they brought out the food with good timing and portions were good. Good selection of drinks.
N. R.
Nice, quiet place, hunters chicken is a twist as it's in breadcrumbs but was very tasty, sent back 2 sides one was under the other over cooked. But it was handled superbly, staff apologised and took it off the bill. Zinfandel was very nice and atmosphere was good. Dog friendly pub too.
L. R.
Really tasty food. Well rounded menu! Good atmosphere!
A. J.
Lovely country feel to this place. Fantastic menu a must visit. We both had pork belly with black pudding mash, wine and apple jus and a strip of crackling and greens. Honestly the food was superb!!!
S. D.
I've got mixed views of this place.
I went in for a Sunday Roast and a few pints. It's pretty clearly a family restaurant more than a pub, at least on Sundays. Can't judge for that, it's a solid business model.
The beer was excellent. A few good options, but if you're serving Landlord kept well, my willingness to sample the competition drops.
Food-wise, less satisfactory. I had the "Sunday Trio" of belly pork, beef sirloin and turkey breast.
The belly pork was really good. I'm never going to be excited about turkey but it was moist and flavourful which is certainly less common than I'd like. The beef, which should be the star of the show, had been cooked far too long. There's a point where beef is amazing, there's a point where it's fine, and a point where it's borderline inedible. They aimed toward the latter extremely hard. The pork came with toppings of baked apple and pork crackling. The apple was good. The crackling wasn't. The crackling had been cremated. If it ever crackled, it crackled in the way that a wildfire does. But it didn't look like a kitchen mistake, it seemed that that's just the way they choose to do it.
The veg was pretty grim. Everything had had any kind of texture beaten out of it. The pulpy, flavourless broccoli's only contribution to the dish was that it was green. The parsnips didn't even manage that. The potatoes were fine, but again had the texture of being fed through a tube in a hospital. The menu describes them as "ruffled", but there was no indication visually, texturally or flavour-wise that they'd even been mildly inconvenienced. Carrots were delicious although it felt like that was in spite of the way they'd been cooked.
The yorkshire pudding was wonderful. Put the guy who did that in charge of the kitchen.
My table service was a complete mess. The guy serving me showed zero signs of competence at all. Then he just disappeared completely. Maybe he had a medical emergency? These things happen. But no-one took over. Eventually managed to flag someone down after I'd mostly given up on ordering anything else. So I just asked for the bill. Getting from that request to actually paying took around 30 minutes.
Seems like something that has been a great pub but has turned into a mediocre restaurant. I wouldn't be against coming back. It's fine. There's a lot to like. But it definitely needs work. Get the service and food up to the standards of the building and the beer and this could be truly fantastic. It's just not there right now.
P. D.
Only popped in for a beer and a snack. Service was quick and efficient. Food was at best ok. However we only had a sharing Brie that was clearly a preprepared affair and only came with two slices of defrosted/very lightly toasted bread and the smallest pot of chutney I have ever experienced.
N. G.
Whilst we once again enjoyed our meal I must say that since the pandemic prices have risen, the menu is now very limited and the quality is not where it was before. It was also annoying that this was the 2nd time that we had to send a meal back because something we ordered wasn’t correct. By the time this meal was back the rest of us had finished which really let’s down the experience. I am not sure why putting mushrooms onto a pizza should take another 15 minutes and as our Granddaughter has autism it could easily have caused an incident. My wife’s fish cake just tasted of curried rice and lacked fish and was very dry. My Beef Bourgogne though was very nice but still don’t understand why you use a soup bowl and expect people to use a knife and fork. This is not practical and once again brought about by crazy modern day fads.
D. H.
Staff are friendly and polite. Range of real ales is good. Menu is varied. Always disappointed that gammon, egg, pineapple, chips and peas is not a regular option but food and food service is usually good
J.
This restaurant was open during the high lockdown levels and we were able to make a reservation over the phone about three days prior. The place is set up like a home with each of the rooms having nice decor and some with fireplaces. The lighting isn’t too strong and the background music had a decent radio station playing.
There was a queue to enter the restaurant and it’s a bit slow processing customers through onto their respective seating areas. They promptly advise you that you are only allowed to visit for 2 hours and if you wanted alcohol you would need to order food as well. This must be a British rule or covid rule and was a slight put off for me.
Food was ok, not out of this world but British food is not the greatest anyway unless you’re ordering fish and chips from a local chippy from my perspective. Ordered what I thought to be King Prawn cocktail and it ended up being baby shrimp cocktail without much spice other than what tasted like ketchup and mayonnaise mixed together with avocado and lettuce. I wouldn’t recommend ordering it.
I didn’t eat much else but my wife had the chicken sandwich and it was only half on the sandwich. I think they forgot the rest of the chicken. The portobello mushrooms were good and I would recommend those if you’re hungry.
All in all, it was an ok experience and we weren’t expecting it to be 5 stars anyway. I would recommend they spice up their menu a bit if they want to receive higher ratings.
J. C.
Our party of five had a meal on 2nd April. The food was delish and reasonably priced. We had starters of pate soup and mushrooms then 3 had the sea bass and 1 the chicken and leek pie and 1 the lasagne. All of us were very happy with food. Service was also excellent and staff friendly and helpful. We will be back for sure.
C. B.
Nice setting, great parking and great location just off the M56. It was quite slow service at a lunch time (may have just been one of those days) however there wasn't alot of options for low calorie/healthy option dishes at all.
D. W.
Fantastic! Stopped on a late drive back up north late in the day, found by pure chance and glad we did, slotted in by luck and had eaten within the hour before the last trek home. Great food fast service and pleasant welcome.
The grounds looked a little untidy around the edges but unfortunately this is the fall out from COVID has not effected the rating as I’m sure it’ll be back tidy soon enough once the money starts flowing which it should for food and service like this.
m. s.
Nice atmosphere...Good food, service was a bit hit and miss but that was because we ordered on the app/QR code but not everything was available the app and part off the order was made through the till...bit disjointed but overall good visit.
D. R.
Not a bad meal. Food was quite good, service was variable, most staff were ok. I would go again.
p. c.
The sunday lunch is one of the best iv ever had so delicious. Unfortunately some of the staff are a bit rude which let's it down a bit but the food is definately worth a visit
C. W.
If you want an average quality, sensibly priced meal, in pleasant surroundings with decent serivce - a good place to go. if you want something a bit more special, choose somewhere else.
N. L.
Very well placed restaurant/bar (food orientated rather than a pub) just off M56 junction. Outdoor seating area around front of building with large carpark. Good choice of cask ales although not tested on visit! Food menu adequate not extensive with vegitarian options and on day visited very enjoyable!
S.
Only stopped off for drinks this time in the beer garden. It is still a shame they cannot get the real garden operational, and are only using the bit overlooking the car park. Still decent...
J. R. I.
We went for Sunday roast and the food was delicious. Good size portions and everything home made.
M. M.
Nice place to enjoy my first pint of the year. All Covid-19 protocols followed and a good outdoor heated area when it's chilly. Didn't have time to try the food but what I seen coming out looked good.
M. E.
Food was lovely. Just such slow service, my 1st spritz was flat but lovely presentation, when I mentioned it it got replaced, but no fruit in it.
V. H.
Had two veggie nut roasts, a beef and a lamb roast dinner on a Sunday afternoon. The place was full. Nice atmosphere and the building design means you have separate areas which is nice. I had one of the nut roasts and it was probably the best I've ever had. Had the meze for starter and that too was nice.
j. m.
Lovely lad behind the bar that dealt with me and my food allergy.... food was good. Will return.
S. K.
Highly priced for the quality of food . Pork belly flabby and chewy, small portion.
Not the best place I've been to but not the worst .
S. d.
Had the beef Wellington 😋 one of the best meals I've ever had. Top quality 👌.
P. S.
Went for lunch. Food was OK. They were short staffed and we couldn't sit outside. Service very slow.
s. c.
Lovely meal staff Lovely but sevice very very slow went in at 6pm to start at 6.15pm and left at 9.45pm
J. M.
An enjoyable lunch with great service and good food. The dining area is attractive, clean and well presented. There is a good choice on the menu and the food was tasty and reasonable value for money. Overall would recommend and will return again.
K. N.
Food was ok. Very busy even at 5pm. One of the children's meals came out 20 minutes after everyone's else's
M. G.
Met my partners old friends at this venue for lunch. New to me, but a well thought out and welcoming layout and decor. The staff were suitably attentive and friendly. Range of food good, we just had a light meal... but the variety of offerings was good. Food a bit slow in coming, but well presented and tasty as advertised. Would certainly use the pace again - as it was also easy to et at off the motorway network, yet quiet and comfortable... v good..
M. G.
Just popped in for brunch. So glad I did.
Only 5 mins from M6 j21a, and so much nicer than a service station stop!!
Such friendly staff, great menu, nice surroundings .
Well worth a visit.
g. h.
Food was mediocre at best, we thought the establishment lacked atmosphere. Won't come back.... However Aimee you were brilliant and professional with a warm friendly persona you made our experience. Well done.
P.S. We found our iPhone in the car.
J. W.
Had Sunday lunch here with the family. Food wasn't too bad, but being very critical, the cauliflower cheese (purchased separately) was under cooked. The broccoli had also had also been bolied to within an inch of its life. I could have eaten more than two Small slices of turkey, especially for the price.
N. R.
Went as a couple for a lovely lunch. Food was fresh and tasty. Service was quick & polite. The pub itself is nicely decorated and comfortable.
n. w.
Matt was lovely and very attentive, really good experience.
The food was fabulous!
Will definitely be returning, thank you for a great meal!
A. H.
A great size pub with plenty of seating inside and out, staff all very nice, introduced themselves and nothing was too much trouble. A good choice of food/desserts, the Sunday lunch was great 👍🏼defo recommend
M. B.
The food was amazing. The service was great. The drinks were nice (great choice), but quite expensive.
D. W.
Nice meal with the family with a good varied menu. Unfortunately the best beer (Landlord) was not available but the atmosphere staff and value were good.
A. A.
Easy to book ,excellent service from staff from entry to exit.
Food tastes brilliant and value for money with a varied menu that makes eating out special.
J. B.
Food was really good. Service excellent. Would go back and recommend to friends & family xxx
A. C.
Yes 8 of us enjoyed a meal at the Stretton Fox. Excellent meal. It was busy. Staff work very hard. and we enjoyed a lovely meal. Lovely out door space.
L. Y.
Great food and wine, staff were very good and she looked after our large work group perfectly xx
i. s.
Simply just a great place. Staff very helpful, responsive and quick to deal with requests. Will definitely go there again.
A. M.
The food was delicious and staff were friendly
P. W.
Food and beer were fine but the service was painfully slow. Mains took almost an hour to come out, Dessertstook another half an hour and are expensive for what they are.
G. M.
Always stop over night at the premier Inn up the road from the Stretton Fox when going to North Wales and then come here for dinner , found this little gem by pure luck , brilliant and friendly staff , the rump steak is amazing and very well priced , definitely worth a visit
A. G.
The food was fantastic, the staff were friendly and helpful and the pub looks great.
A. D.
The food was delicious and service was great.
we had no issues so nothing to improve upon for us!
N. H.
Really lovely relaxed cosy place. Great menu, child friendly and great service too.
J. A.
A lovely place to visit. Varied menu selection, bar snacks, light lunches or a full meal. Friendly, helpful staff.
A. T.
Lovely food, really nice pub with great decor. Will be back soon!
A. B.
Pub food and service good. Dinner was on Thursday. Would suggest booking on line off peak time
D. W.
Food is outstanding, staff are attentive, prompt and super polite....
G. G.
We haven't been to here for a while, it's still a beautiful pub serving very good food, and the service was also very good. I choose the chicken and smoked pancetta pie, whilst it was nice I couldn't actually see or taste any pancetta. We still love visiting the Stretton Fox.
L. W.
Really nice inside, and the staff were very friendly. It was a few weeks before Christmas and they had placed crackers out for everyone. That was a good touch and my three year old enjoyed seeing mummy and daddy eating in their paper Christmas hats.
My duo of lamb was well cooked and tasty. The only negative we had was my wife said the chips were over-salted. Other than that, it was great and we will return.
w. s.
Had a very enjoyable meal great food good service
F. C.
food not brilliant on this visit (it has been before) - had a tired looking pizza and dessert - Eton Mess was all mess and NO meringue (got it taken off bill)
very busy and seated next to a large party of people, realise should have asked to be moved.
E. G.
Lovely pub/restaurant. Comfortable, homely atmosphere to it. Had the chicken & mushroom pie which was very tasty & came with mash & vegetables. My only criticism is that there was more pastry lid than filling to the pie but the meal itself was an ample portion. Staff were friendly, polite & efficient. Would recommend & will return.
i. r.
Good pub. Good selection of drinks at a reasonable price. Food good on the whole however only 3 stars as my steak sandwich was a little tough on this occasion. I would recommend however as staff were helpful.
g. w.
Average ,young staff with no people skills !,lovely ambience though ,nice food 👌
q.
Prompt, friendly and efficient service. All of us enjoyed our lunch. Only disappointment was that only two hand pumps (out of five on the bar) were working. The beer I chose was very good though, so not a huge issue.
D. J. L. w. J.
Very nice atmosphere and the food is great.. Lorna is a friendly lovely personality with a quiet grace which made us feel very welcome.. thank you, see you again.
c.
Food and service were good but due to maintenance on the building doors were open and it was cold.
A. R.
Lovely country pub feel and great food. Really on the ball with all covid measures, and the staff seemed to be very helpful.
S.
Great location, tons of parking, friendly service, varied menu, hot tasty food
P. S.
Good Pub Food, Catering more to Food, Car Park can be very Busy(Full)
I. H.
Fabulous location and setting though quality and variety of food available I feel was overpriced.
h. m.
Very nice place with a pleasant and welcoming staff. I love veggie food and they clearly have a chef there that is creative but doesn't compromise on flavour - their veggie lasagne was amazing! Very tasteful, well seasoned and one I certainly be returning for. We came as a party of 3 so the rest of the group had meat dishes, burgers apparently very tasty and so was the duck salad. Little gem this pub, can't wait to go back.
k. e.
Beautiful pub , very busy , but where soon seated . Only had drinks but will visit again for food as it looked lovely
k. r.
Beautiful food, clean and very friendly staff. We will definitely be back again thank you.
S. A.
Wonderful food and excellent service x definitely will be back 😀
P. B.
Good parking, nice food, attentive staff. Large covered area at the front. Roomy interior. Small selection on the menu, but that always make me feel that you'll get something decent. I had pork belly with black pudding mash, with banoffee pie for dessert. All good. Also, worth consideration for a meet up, as has easy access from the motorway.
S. M.
Very friendly welcoming service.
Prompt service.
Food good, reasonably priced, and varied menu
S. S.
Server was Wayne chef was mike tables not crammed together, lovely layout and food was fantastic. Thanks for making me have a lovely birthday
J. B.
Had a lovely lunch with my girlfriend judith. The food was lovely and the service from the waitress sue was fab.
M. H.
We didn't book, they squeezed us in and service was excellent.
Food was good many thanks.
E. D.
Very nice .food lovely especially the burgers we ordered ..Nice staff
A. S.
Great food as always. Not mass-cooked, all-you-can-eat carvery rubbish.
R. T.
Nice pub, friendly staff, good location, slow service, food quality mixed
e. b.
Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff. Quite expensive in terms of quantity for starters, but tasty.
A. D.
Menu looked lovely but its just ding food. Triple cooked chips are just frozen ones, they stick peas shoots on everything and no custard to go with pudding......
l. g.
Very cosy , traditional interior, we had the set Christmas menu and it was great value, the staff were trying their best , some more experienced than others, as a parent of a young person who does this type of work, please be polite and direct comments to someone in charge.
I definitely want to go again and sample the regular menu.
L. T. S.
First time visiting tonight and what a great pub. Service was a little slow but it was busy and the staff looked to be working as hard as they could. The food was very good and the sticky toffee pudding was very nice indeed! Will definitely be back.
J. D.
Had a great time! Wayne was a brilliant server! Food was great! Arrived quickly!
p. h.
Visited for lunch, excellent quality food and very filling.
T. R.
We had a lovely time for Father's day. Food was amazing
T. B.
Nice pub, think they may have been a little short staffed or changed something as a couple of mistakes but really nothing major. Food was ace, I had the fishfinger sandwich and it was very tasty indeed! Nice roaring fire on the go in there and they allow dogs which let's be honest makes every pub better!
E. S.
Atmosphere, service, beer just awesome.
Very typical brittish country bar and just what I was looking for.
S. D.
Had a lovely meal here last Tuesday. Our lovely waitress Adele couldn't do enough for us.....so cheerful and efficient even though it was very busy. Food was tasty and hot....would thoroughly recommend a visit.
K. M.
We visted the Stretton Fox ahead of a visit to Arley Hall and we had a very good experience here. The first thing I noticed was how friendly and attentive the staff were - a very good first impression. The food was absoutely delicious and great portion sizes - I had the House Burger which was amazing and a friend had the pizza was huge! Very reasonably priced also and done up to a high standard inside. Would definitely return.
W. A.
Fantastic afternoon! Booked a table for 6...the first time our family had been together in years! We needed wheelchair access and on arrival we were offered indoors or outside. We chose outside and the team quickly made easy access for my parents. Fantastic food wonderfully served by Claire and the team. Claire was especially attentive to my parents. Can’t recommend enough Thank you x
M. K. P.
Loved the atmosphere and cosy surroundings. Food was very tasty and service was spot on. Not just our waitress but all the others waiting on tables were observant helpful and attentive without being patronising and it was quite busy with table service only for drinks. Parking was ample.
J. B.
The pub as a whole.... finding the pub is a problem if it's your first visit....more signposting required
H. O.
Nice place but the food was not the previous standard..apreciate staff shortages etc. But service very slow over an hour to have main course. Tables outside full of empty glasses etc and not cleared up during our visit. Small chewy steak. Chips. 2 small onion rings half a cold uncooked tomatoes and a sprig of lambs lettuce. No vegetables or salad. I hope it improves and returns to pre covid standards. I note the prices are at the higher level with food similar quality to chain pubs.
S. V.
Really nice staff! And food beautiful! Would definitely go again!

The food was on the better side of average pub grub BUT the service was not good at all. The place was littered with uncleared tables. More worryingly we kept getting mixed messages about what those with allergies could and couldn't eat. Manager apologised after main course but then there was a mix up again with dessert! Doubt we will be back.
L. A.
Great stop on a long journey. Really nice veggie burger, I normally eat meat fit fancied something different. We got there just before 12 and wasn’t too busy but soon got packed by 1.
K. F.
Nice location, ample parking, dogs allowed
R. W.
Special mention to our waitress Aimee who was very attentive .
Thanks also to Chef Gary for the excellent food.
A.
Great cosy pub, food was just OK. Not bad, just bland and thrown together.
D. B.
Good friendly service.
Efficient
Enjoyed the food too
L. W.
Lovely atmosphere, beautiful food definitely visit again
D. L.
Excellent service, good food reasonable price. Only problem is servings are far too large.
s. m.
The food was OK I guess, it was mother's day, the attitude on one of the staff was awful, he just slammed the drinks on the table, never said what was what, would I return !! No.
H. M.
Wonderful lunch outside the Stretton Fox with a friend. The complementary bottle of Prosecco for my Birthday was a delightful offer. Friendly service and the lunch menu is so reasonably priced. The mini desserts were exquisite.
D. S.
Excellent food and friendly well mannered staff providing excellent service, highly recommended
K. W.
Service - excellent
Food - Really tasty, hot and fresh
s. d.
Been here many times, always great food and a warm welcome. Can get very busy at peak times but that speaks for itself as to how good it is. We will be back.
C. B.
First time here on recommendation from a friend. Booked for a surprise 30th birthday for my son party of 30ppl.
Food was excellent as was the service highly recommended. Will be back for sure.
c. s.
most of the staff very pleasant some seem to think that they were doing you a favour . table needed wiping as the wax from a candle had not been cleaned.
J. R.
Excellent food, great staff and a great selection of drinks. A great place to sit in the sun.
S. R.
Friendly service, good food. Time for chat between courses was ok and the atmosphere was pleasant.
Prices were reasonable for the food, drinks were slightly more than usually expected but appropriate for the area.
P. b.
Welcome staff, Great food and a very friendly atmosphere, will use again!
C. M.
Mediocre food and service
I responded to the venues request to call them but have heard nothing back - says it all
R. S.
Absolutely wonderful food and the seating outside on a lovely spring day is amazing. We had fish and chips which were spot on; the fish batter was light and crisp as were the chips with fluffy soft insides and mushy peas. The service was excellent. Other than book yourself a table, what more can be said?!!
R. W.
My wife and I went for lunch, mid week. We booked our table on the website. We were met with a miserable faced woman who made no eye contact and basically ran us to our table!, (Not a good start). Once seated, our ta ble waitress was good but we were given no information on any specials or other food. Drinks arrived but at £4.05 for a pint of cider, it's no wonder why people drink at home!
The starters arrived and looked good, that's where it ended. I had the salt/pepper calimary. It was just coating it had been over cooked and was more coating than anything, there was a thimble full of what should have been a spicy sauce, which was bland, for the main course, I ordered the rack of lamb and to be cooked medium rare, when it arrived it was cooked correctly but the Lamb was poor quality and was chewy, the cutlery supplied wouldn't cut it, just ripped it. With this 'Special' were some sort of spicy potatoes which had been ovenef to death and were like tasteless lumps of charcoal, the beens and asparagus had little taste either. For £22.I expected better, a lot better. Desert was fine probably bought in, certainly not home made and more like a child's portion in size.
Overall we were disappointed with the Stretton Fox, 3* star service & food, but with 5* prices. 🤔
H. P.
Service was a bit slow to start with but they were very busy. Food was delicious and served quickly once order was taken. Would go again as dog friendly and would recommend as we had an enjoyable visit that was well priced.
S. W.
Was part of a group of four, everyone else had good quality food. Unfortunately I ordered the Hunters Chicken and it was hands down the worst meal I have ever at The Fox. I would go as far to say it was one of the worst meals I have had at a pub for a long time. I should have complained at the time but typically I didn't. Burned pancetta, almost no cheese and a paper thin schnitzel, then to top it off they didn't serve it with the advertised 'triple cooked chips' but instead just incredibly plain standard chips. My meal was a 1/5 but I was unlucky it seemed.
G. T.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice and clean.
S. S.
I have been in the area on business for a week. The very friendly staff at the Stratton Fox have made my week here a pleasure. A fantastic ribeye steak perfectly cooked to med rare with a lovely peppercorn sauce. Capped off with a Chieftains IPA and my week away from home has been softened with three excellent meals. I am back in a fortnight and have booked next door to stay just so I can eat here in the evenings. Many thanks. SS.
E. G.
We were served by lucy and our chef was Mike great experience delicious food :)
D. L.
Nice gastropub in an ideal location off the M56, service and food can be hit and miss at times. Not always given a warm welcome.
S. D.
Family oriented great pub bar & food venue
K. D.
If there was option for more stars it would definitely get them!
First time I have ever been and I will definitely be returning and recommending to family and friends.
A huge compliment to the chef and the staff, service was brilliant and the staff were amazing and always on hand if you need anything :)
K. G.
Liam A provided great service and Abi P was also perfect and it was very good waiting times
A. D.
Ok choice of beers. Food ok but a bit pricey
k. g.
Fantastic food good service short wait for food great beer
F. D.
Absolutely fantastic food 😊
K. L.
pretty pricey but pretty average food, handy for the motorway
F. F.
Good menu and lovely environment and atmosphere
S. I.
Very nice setting with good service and exceptional food!

Beautiful place, lovely staff, Great food👌
c. a.
Staff were great .
The starters were a bit if a let down. We felt that the mango and prawn cocktail didn't work and the pate came with what seemed to be a rich sticky jam and a very sweet apple puree which i felt really didn't work with the dish. We didn't eat these and were a bit disappointed to see they were still added onto the bill at the end of the meal
Everything else from then on was perfect , the main with the cottage pie was delicious and the desserts were lovely too . Service was great .
O. B.
Beautiful pub with reasonable prices for drinks. I liked fresh flowers on each table and burning candles. Food wasn't too great and quite pricey for the quality, the pudding was nice.
O. K.
Love this place; the staff was pleased to serve you and helpful. Food is nice and pleasant environment.
Had some of the business meetings there so far (not during the family time, of course).
Fully recommended.
J. D. (.
Great place to eat. They even let you sit outside after you've eaten at a table while the COVID restrictions are in place.
Only issue I had there was that the turkey dinner for the Sunday roast wasn't what was described on the menu, but it was just a Sunday roast anyway and tasted great.
It wasn't noisy at all. Great waiters and definitely would go there again. Easy to get to as it's just on the roundabout coming off a motorway.
Worth going to atleast once.
M. F.
Always nice when the sun is shining sitting outside. A good local pub
n. m.
Lovely place but spoiled by average food and below par service.
C. W.
We both enjoyed the delicious food. The service was excellent, and great drinks too. A lovely pub in beautiful surroundings. We will definitely visit again when in the area.
P.
Friendly staff, great service
Look to leveling slabs out side as almost went over my ankle on an uneven one
J. A. W.
Great food. Staff very attentive. Couldn't want more.
M. S.
Nice place and i had an excellent meal. However only 1 vegetarian meal on menu was was OK but not much choice.
J. W.
Good food, quick service, helpful and attractive staff. I have eaten here several times in the past and would be more than happy to eat here again.
E. J. K.
Nice staff, long wait for very average food
M. B.
A nice pub with a good menu. A bit short staffed when we were there, but still a friendly helpful staff. The fish sandwiches were fantastic!
B.
Fantastic food and service. I would highly recommend the Trio of Roasts. Book a table in advance though, to avoid any disappointment.
L. G.
We were staying at the nearby Park Royal and walked down the dead-end country lane (not a single car passed as we did) to it the Stretton Fox, only 8mims walk.
There are a good number of seats outside and all looked to be comfortable. We had a table booked inside, the interior is bigger than expected with several spaces and rooms that make for a more peaceful dining experience than might otherwise be the case. It was generally very busy on the Friday night we were there but social distancing and relevant precautions were all in place and adhered to.
Staff were very helpful and friendly, going out of their way to make sure we had a lovely time despite how busy they were.
The vegan/vegetarian menu has been cut back (since covid closures apparently) from the one advertised on the website so options were fewer than expected for the vegetarian coeliac in our party but both staff and the kitchen were willing to adapt dishes that were available to suit those needs.
The children's menu has plenty of options that are small versions of adult offerings, and the stone baked pizzas are delicious (according to those at the table who tried the one ordered!). The carmelised onion (an awful lot!) on the meatfeast pizza was a bit over powering for our tastes but was replaced without question for another (without the condiment). A particular highlight was the marmalade bread and butter pudding and the kids chocolate brownie!
Definitely recommend this place for a relaxed family friendly meal in a very pleasant environment.

Lovely meal out, great service. Will come back

On Saturday we made an unexected stop on our way to Bolton due to a flat tyre and an unfortunately deflated spare.
I said to my friends "You head off to the pub whilst i sort this out, have something to eat. The easiest thing to do is phone my dad and we will go and get a tyre."
My dad was 30mins away and i conceeded i would eat on my own once the problem was solved.
An hour later after collecting a tyre and fitting it. Thanks for the recovery dad! I arrived at the Stretton Fox to meet my friends. Two of whom had steak and were reasonably happy.
My other friend, who never likes to complain. Was still waiting on his food when i arrived. 45 minute wait. I was told when they arrived the place was empty. So My friend was a little bemised as to the delay, but it actually worked out ok as it turned out i didnt need to eat alone. I went to the till to order a house burger. After selecting all the options i returned to the table and ten minutes later my 'Prime burger' arrived. I decided not to complain and enjoyed the burger and sweet potato fries.
The onion rings however resembled something that a teenager learning to cook had produced after forgetting they where in the fryer and returned to the playstation until the smoke alarm went off. The teenager was then worried they would be in trouble so made a quick batter and put them in the fryer for another ten minutes hoping noone would notice.
S. B.
This is a lovely traditional, cosy pub, with friendly staff and excellent food. We had the brunch here and really enjoyed it. We will definitely be returning!

[June 21] Great food and excellent service.
[July 21] Update... I'm not sure if it was a miscalculation over the number of people who took the opportunity to go out on the first Friday after "Freedom Day", or whether there were staffing issues, but with the outside let much at capacity, and the inside at around 60% I can say that my review from June was representative at all.
It was evident that the staff were overwhelmed, and so although the service was very friendly it took ages to request anything, and then there was a long delay before it arrived.
We arrived for a booking on time at 19:30, and it took two and a half hours for two courses.
Unfortunately the food suffered a little too. From a party of 5, 3 of us had minor issues with our dinners.
Having visited numerous times before, I know this experience isn't typical, but I hope things can be addressed quickly so it doesn't become the norm at peak periods.
For those people that are interested, there was very little mask wearing by customers as they moved around the restaurant, and none at all by the staff.
O. E.
Went just after lunch during Eat Out To Help Out. Seated immediately, drinks were served almost instantly after ordering and wait on food was only about 15 mins.
Staff were pleasant and friendly, menu had a good selection too.
Only downside was you could tell the chips weren't cooked fresh and ice cream was served on a hot plate.
C. C.
Great service, the place is very nice. I would like more variety in the menu, but they have good quality food.
B. R.
Great location, amazing ambiance, staff is superb and food best to none and great price!
A. M.
Excellent relaxed family meal at the Stretton Fox this afternoon. Good food, friendly staff and not rushed even though they were busy.
R. H.
Nice pub but the drinks are very expensive I got medium glass of wine and sparkling water the bill came to £12.90
They need to sort the car park in the back it full of holes you could easily twist your ankle
F. W.
The Stretton Fox is a lovely place & the staff are very friendly & helpful. We were a family of 9 out for my sons 40th birthday. My only complaint is to do with the roast dinner. The turkey was lovely but the vegetables were under cooked & quite hard,I also don't think that onions & peppers are part of a Sunday roast!I work in a School kitchen so understand the pressure of preparing many meals at the same time.I think the vegetables need longer to cook/steam(whichever method is used in this kitchen). However, this has not put me off visiting again in the future-although probably not for the roast dinner!
K. F.
Stunning food. Great atmosphere. Became in the car park. Slippy when wet.
D. H.
Next to Junction 10 on the M56, very handy for travelling from Runcorn, Northwich and nearby areas of Warrington. Very nice food, friendly staff and good service once seated. However we usually book 4 weeks ahead using the phone or in person before we leave and on each of our last 2 visits we've been told on arrival that they have no booking for our group. As we have arrived at 4.30pm they have been able to accommodate us but this is frustrating and I don't think they could seat 6 people if we were arriving later .
S. B.
Foods not bad, be careful with the drinks machine as it can be a bit lacking. Service is a bit slow.
s. j.
Lovely place, great friendly staff. Highly recommended
A. M.
Staff were welcoming. Food was delicious apart from peppers, courgettes & onion on a Sunday lunch. It didn't go well with it and parsnips were too hard.
A. W.
We have just returned from having a meal here. The staff were so welcoming - made us aware of what we needed to do - covid wise and we felt so at ease. Our waitress was so bubbly and friendly - nothing was too much for her (her name may be Adele - looking at the receipt) Outstanding food as always. Thank you Stretton Fox for making our trip such a positive one in the middle of all this confusion x
C. B.
Good menu and good food and a great atmosphere. This is a great place to relax over a nice meal. It is also easy find off the M56 motorway and there is plenty of parking.
e. g.
Really pleasant experience dining during covid restriction, well spaced out and half filled but fully booked. Waiter was very friendly and made my 3 year old feel welcome. Food was mouth watering delicious. I had the pork special and it wasn't an issue to change the
vegetables to my preferred broccoli and this was perfectly cooked
K. S.
Great pub, excellent food, lovely country pub charm and the staff are really friendly. Highly recommended
G. M.
Lucy :) so polite ans friendly..thank you
And thanks Alex G for the food, it was amazing
C. E. P.
Great food and drink, great value for money highly recommend.

Great food, lovely pub

Turned up out of the blue today asking for a table of 9 and they were fantastic.. putting two tables together for my family of crazy Spanish in-laws! Service was great and polite, food was fantastic & well priced. Location is lovely too and the fields outside are so pretty! Thank you for a really nice meal will happily come again ❤
B. M. c.
Beautiful place
Right off motor way so a good place to meet from diffent areas.
Great meun and lovely food.
Good staff
And service.
J. N.
Brilliant as always and even though the staff were rushed off their feet, the waiting time was minimal and food was excellent, pizza was huge and tasted fantastic
M. V.
Very popular place with a nice range of food. We went here for a date night after the kids bought us a gift card. Lots of choice and a couple of menus to choose from, including a fixed price option. Plenty of atmosphere, but quite crowded with tables everywhere which is why I dock one star. Staff were very polite and attentive with lots of smiles and regular check-ins. They have an app which has deals and we found a 33% food reduction code, but there were others on there as well. All in all a very nice meal at a reasonable price. Recommended.
G. S.
Great staff, polite and accommodating. Fantastic breakfast, can certainly reccomend the eggs Florentine, good coffee. Would certainly go again..
F. G.
Visited several times this year and had a lovely meal each time. The atmosphere is perfect for a family get together or a cosy romantic meal. The waiting on staff were amazing with our young children even allowing them to help place the orders and judging a mini colouring competition to our table. We will be back!
E. L.
Adele our waitress was great. Wasn't keen on the gravy...neither was our 3 year old gravy expert.
I. C.
Quick service, decent food, competitive prces
A. L.
Quaint traditional pub with reasonable menu and service
M. S.
Stopped off nearby on way down from Scotland to London for Christmas and booked The Stretton Fox for an evening meal. Had to wait in bar for our booked table as previous people had overrun and then there was a bit of a queue at bar to get a drink while we waited. Restaurant very busy and noisy with Christmas bookings. That said it was Saturday night before Christmas and we were there at peak time. However we found a nice quiet table in the bar so ate there instead. My Wife had the Wagyu burger and I had the plant based burger. Both good and lovely chips; and despite the restaurant being busy food came quickly. Nice menus with excellent range of Veggie and Vegan options and the other food we saw coming out looked nice. Good choice of beers and cosy bar area. Staff very pleasant. Would definitely go again and perhaps stay as well.
A. F.
Food, drinks and service were amazing
J. D. (.
Beautiful place lovely people food is the best 👌
J. O.
Lovely place to eat great food and extremely nice staff, will definitely be back and recommend it as a great place to go
P. C.
Nice vegetarian wrap and friendly staff.
C. B.
The service was exceptionally slow, we booked a table for 6:30 - wasn't ready for 20 mins and we didn't end up eating until 8:30 despite having ordered as soon as possible. I had the 'meat feast' pizza, which was more like a 'meat famine' given the lack of toppings. Nevertheless, the front of house staff were very polite, and I understand that some factors were not under their area of responsibility.
R. H.
Very friendly staff, food very good, handy location just off the motorway
E. F.
Always love the food here, but the service was very slow when we went, despite being able to hear the (assume) manager telling the servers to turn the tables over quickly due to demand.
B. D.
Went here Easter Bank Holiday Monday evening - not expecting much as everywhere had been so predictably busy, and waiters understandably run out of steam - thankfully none of that! The staff were well trained, jolly and helpful. Well done guys. Right next J10 of M56, so massive improvement over stopping at a services on a long journey. Standard fare on the menu all well cooked and presented. Outside space great too.
L. E.
The food was amazing and the staff were lovely will come again when we are up this way xx
A.
Excellent, delicious food, great friendly staff, not first time been and certainly won't be the last
R. C.
Prompt service, friendly staff and good food.
R. M.
Beautiful food, lovely atmosphere and service
A. C.
Visited with family for a late afternoon meal. Not been here for a long time but was pleasantly surprised. Tidy impressive car park and outdoor seating areas. The interior is well fitted out in light woods with good lighting. Staff pleasant and service good. Food arrived after about 25 minutes and was very tasty, although one portion was on the small side. The pub was fairly quiet at this time of the day.
M. C.
Upmarket and rustic feel to this long established pub.
I used to work in the area around 15 years ago and frequented the pub often. I came back for lunch recently and was satisfied with the experience. Service was good, food was excellent: fresh and tasty.
Would recommend for a social and also to any motorway commuters.
H. H.
Lovely decor and a great pub lace to relax, lovely in winter when the fires are on and it’s cold outside!
Can be a little pricey for the portion size you get. The menu is a little more minimalistic these days but still good food!
D. G.
Very nice pub. Very smiley helpful staff. They make their own pizzas from scratch. I had the 4 cheese. It was delicious and extremely filling. Didn't try any beers, too early in the day. Over 10 years since my last visit. But will definitely go back.
D. D.
So glad that the pubs and restaurants are open for indoor guests again! I had the Duo of Lamb and found it OK or average. In my opinion, the pie needed more seasoning and the lamb was not as tender and flavorful as I expected. Service was a bit slow but this is not unexpected given this was the first day return to indoor service.
D. H.
Very average for the price and the mains were half price
J. H.
Good feel good factor when driving into the car park. Nice looking building inside and out. Arrived late Sunday afternoon, very busy with people leaving and just arriving for lunch. After a few minutes wait we were shown to our table and we ordered drinks. We then ordered the Turkey roast. Arrived on a rectangle plate with gravy in a pot. The meal was excellent and we both thought that the gravy in the pot was a great idea, so you could add to the meal as you wished. Will definitely revisit.
G. W.
Wonderful food, cosy surroundings, and most importantly excellent service. We had roasts today (Sunday), delicious, plentiful. We didn't book but we went early, if you don't book be prepared to wait as it is so popular. The desserts are also to die for. Great value for money too. Chris our waiter today is a credit to the place, friendly, obliging and attentive even though it was packed by the time we left.
A firm favourite for us and gets a full recommendation from me.
J.
Food was amazing, pets are welcome inside. The steak tasted much nicer than Miller and Carter "steakhouse". Staff were very friendly, recommend booking if you are going with quite a few people. Will definitely visit again
A. J.
Been going to this pub for years on & off, lovely atmosphere, open fires, friendly staff, good food, great service, highly recommended.
S. W.
I'd eaten two nights in a row, the first was faultless, the food and staff were excellent. The second night my chips were cold, and we waited a long time to get served. I didn't have the opportunity to send them back, and a diet coke I ordered never arrived. Otherwise another great stay
J.
Service was friendly and prompt, food was of a high quality standard other than the Filet Steak which was very fatty and chewy. When we raised this with our waitress they immediately offered us another dish free of charge, took the steak off the bill and also removed the steak from the menu for the night and the waitress also kept apologising. Turned the experience from a negative to a positive.
F.
The food was superb. Such friendly and helpful staff. A really cosy atmosphere.
The best meal we’ve had in a long time. We will definitely be back again and again.
K. S.
Went here by chance yesterday for a quick bite to eat. Food was quick to be served and delicious. The menu had a great selection and everything sounded really good. Can't wait to go back and try something else.
P. G.
We dined here on a Sunday afternoon, and were allowed to sit in the bar area with the dog. The food was tasty and looked the part, and the burgers were huge! The best thing by far about the meal was the tasty triple-cooked chips. which made a massive difference compared to the processed frozen chips you nearly always get served.
The food was reasonably priced, and all three courses were served quickly, despite being warned politely by the bar staff that there could be a wait due to the kitchen's workload (we weren't in a rush). The presentation of the food was top-notch, despite my pet hate of food-items being served in baskets, buckets, shells or tubs (in this case, it was the chips coming in a little metal bucket on the plate).
The reason it's a 4 and not a 5* review is two fold.. Reason 1 was the gent's toilet not being particularly fresh, and reason 2 was the gent rushing around like a headless chicken that I can only assume was the manager getting a tad abrupt with people in my earshot on more than one occasion, including staff and customers alike. I totally understand the pressures of a sunday service, but as a customer, they should be invisible.
R. A.
Service and food not up to usual standard. Over an hour's wait between starter a d main courses. We did get an apology and were not charged for some drinks. The food was not bad but part of one of our meals was cold. We use this venue regularly for regular reunion meetings but if it dosn't improve we will look to find a new venue. Shame as it is ideally placed for all attendees. Disappointed.
V. T.
Came yesterday, very busy and thought we wouldn't receive our meals for over an hour. Service was very quick! Enjoyed the turkey roast but would of loved to have more veg! Very delicious meal, have been here before but would highly recommend a Sunday roast!
S. D.
Love this place it is cosy and comfy with a good atmosphere. Good selection of drinks on offer.
Sunday lunch is good apart from the portion size on the lamb really not worth the price compared to other meat offers. Puddings very good choice and variations on offer.
S. D.
Lovely meal,will go again.
R. A.
Very good food, well served and very well looked after.
H. H.
An excellent visit here in January 2022
Great menu and beer selection
Excellent staff, very helpful, polite and friendly
S. L.
Just had lunch with a friend. Two main meals for £8.99 is a great offer, especially for this lovely area. Luke was so pleasant in helping with the gluten free options on food and drinks and I thoroughly recommend the sizzling gammon platter. It's nice to actually have a host who is pleasant and friendly. The outside of the pub possibly could do with an update but don't let this put you off. The inside is lovely. Looking forward to returning!
H. S.
Nice pub, but slow to serve. Took 2 hours from arriving to desert being served. Unfortunate lack of choices if you have to be gluten free, and as the menu changes every day, there's no way of knowing whether there will be anything worth turning up to eat. The food that we had was lovely, just my poor mum had a struggle choosing. To make it worse, there isn't a gluten free menu. You have to look through their allergen advice for all recipes. Shame.
M. H.
Staying at the Q hotel near by, just fancied a change and glad we did. Food was excellent, I had a large battered cod and triple fried chips. My wife had rump steak cooked perfectly how she likes it medium rare. Tried a Wainwright beer lovely. Not a fault of the pub but card machines went off line, but staff coped efficiently. Nice and quiet in the bar. Will definitely pop in again if passing
N. F.
Lovely setting and interior. Friendly and professional staff. Great quality food and choices. Rump steak ciabatta lunchtime option with skin on fries and the chocolate brownie with ice cream was a perfect Tuesday treat. Will definitely be back.
P. H.
Great food friendly and helpful staff. Would visit again when in the area.
J. E.
Just had a lovely leisurely lunch with members of my family. We all enjoyed various items from the fixed lunch menu, which is really excellent value. Thanks to our server Danielle who was very professional, helpful and attentive. We would all recommend and will be back for our next family lunch.
a. w.
Went on Saturday, large group of 14 accommodated by staff despite being very busy. Staff went out of their way to include yorkshire pudding for 2 guests visiting from the States, despite yorkshires not being on the menu. Staff could not have been more patient waiting for everyone to individually settle their part of the bill and so I would rate the service 5*. I had a carrot tart, however the pastry edge was rock hard so I've dropped a star for the inedible pastry but would still be happy to return and enjoy a meal there despite this, in future.
d. t.
Good service and very good food. Choice of food much proved from last time visited.
J. J.
Good place to go for above average pub meal. Excellent parking, nice exterior and pleasant interior. Good selection of beers.
L. G.
Good atmosphere. Pleasant staff. Food nicely presented but not fantastic. Hunters chicken disappointing as used to be served with a hot BBQ sauce, but now served with a cold portion of what looked like bottled BBQ sauce. Mushroom starter lovely and chocolate brownie OK. Overall a pleasant night out but food not memorable.
J. S.
Was a lovely meal. Staff were pleasant and attentive. Well done guys 🐱
k. r.
We've eaten at the Stretton Fox quite a few times & always had a really lovely meal. The place is gorgeous with lovely staff. The only thing is if you just go for a drink there doesn't seem to be enough staff behind the bar so there is always a wait
I. B.
Nice atmosphere, good food, great value and good location. Very helpful staff too
M. L.
Food was nice and the service good
But give yourself time as u do have a bit of a wait inbetween courses
P. M.
Not my first visit. Enjoyed our food. Pleasant surroundings and staff.
K. B.
Had a fantastic meal here tonight fir my daughters birthday. Staff were great. Thank you
J. B.
Been here many times, and it is usually very nice, but sometimes can be slow.
Didn't go for a while, but thought we would give it a try for old times sake. Glad to report the food is still good and arrived fairly quickly too.
l. p.
Service was poor despite alot of tables empty in the sun we were refused only offering a shaded one so we left as it was cool and uncomfortable. Shame as we only wanted to eat and leave and me and my partner know the food is good.
J. S.
4 for lunch 6/8 - each had a,different option. All thoroughly enjoyed the food. Chloe who served us was excellent. Chatty but not intrusive. Really enjoy coming to the Stretton Fox because I know we will always be looked after. Thank you.
L. M. D.
The Service was first class. Our waitress Adele was very attentative and friendly. The meals were excellent. We had a main and pudding and there were 3 of us dining. The Menu was varied. I would recommend the Stretton Fox to my friends.
P. R.
A great place to pull! It's full of stood-up singletons who are delighted to take second best. Just look for the well-dressed ones carrying a newspaper!

The food was lovely the staff were lovely too. I would definitely recommend this place only been for lunch the one time but we are going back again and trying what it's like in the evening they were quite busy and we hadn't booked but they did manage to fit us in so I would surtainly make sure we book next time.

Nice place however food portion sizes were a bit small I found, and I am not a big eater. Some of the staff were not very friendly and not particularly attentive. It is a lovely place and look forward to the fires on during the colder weather.

Highly recommend. Excellent food. Excellent staff. Hadn't booked. Had to wait for food but that's ok as it was so busy...and was well worth the wait. Lovely ambience. Couldn't find anything in Wales. Been there before but it's even better. Thank you to the chefs and waiting staff! Full marks.

Really good meal today. You know what you're going to get with a chain like Vintage Inns and on a busy Sunday in the run up to Christmas you really can't go wrong. Great service, especially given how busy they were, and reasonable prices. Would definitely return when in the area.

Group of 8 called in on a Tuesday lunchtime (1pm ish) and the place was very busy with hardly a free table. Bar service was friendly and efficient. Prices seemed a bit 'premium' at £3.55 for a Hobgoblin Gold, but it was a decent pint. Half of the party had food and what was served came quickly and looked pretty decent. Overall it was a pleasant lunchtime visit.

Lovely food but rather silly of the waitress not to tell me something was off the menu. So having researched the menu online and chosen my food she waited until we ordered to tell me I couldn't have what I wanted. Why didn't she say when we walked in that something was not available.

Amazing food and really friendly staff. This was our first trip to The Stretton Fox and it certainly will not be our last 😋😋

Found this hidden Gem by accident. Had Sunday lunch here in this busy well run place. Didn't book but was found a table. Enjoyed my roast beef dinner. Good choice of food on the menu. Dog friendly too. It's immaculately clean there.

Good quality food, covers vegetarian and fish dishes along with the normal choice of pub type grub in the bar. Nice beer garden and terrace at the pub entrance. Reasonably priced for the quality on offer. Larger menu in the restaurant offering more haute cuisine fare.

Very friendly staff and fab service!
Great service as always.... from Ella this week
A. R.
Picturesque and very nice beer garden sunk back off the motorway so a prime location too!
Steak Sandwich Was like ronseal, did what it said on the tin, no bells and whistles - chips looked hand cut and cooked and were crispy and fluffy. The meat was great quality and cooked well.
Good lunch spot if your traveling or meeting friends.
It isn’t a restaurant but a very well presented pub with some half decent grub - v.good

Great food and super reasonable, has a cozy atmosphere and really good service

Was here for a family get together. Was very impressed by everything. Easy to park outside and good food and beer selection. Good toilets. Would recommend. It's just off the motorway roundabout - don't follow the Sat Nav!

We have come here for many a meal including Christmas Day Dinners. The meals are always fab and filling, staff are friendly and talkative. Good selection of drinks and a warm inviting environment. The moment you walk on you know you can make yourself at home with their farm house feeling. The open fireplaces are just gorgeous.

Great pub, beautiful inside

The food and service was okay.

We visited last Sunday having booked a table online. When we arrived, we were told that our table was just being set, so we had to wait about 5-10 min which was ok, as we could see it was busy. Once we got to the table and ordered our drinks and food, our kids obviously had to wait, but one ended up accidentally spilling a drink over another. Thankfully, the waiter who was looking after us very quickly helped to clear up the spillage and replace the drink. And throughout the meal he was very courteous and considerate. When the starters and children's meals arrived, the kids tucked in and enjoyed it (they were pretty big portions!).Then the Mains arrived, apart from Hubby's. Again, before we'd even realised it, our waiter was very quick to come over and ask what was ordered as it hadn't been entered on the system. The dish (A Roast Trio For One) didn't take long to arrive. So service-wise, we couldn't fault the evening despite the little mishaps. Foodwise, the portion sizes were good and overall it all looked and tasted good, apart from the beef in the Roast Trio, which although looked pink, seemed a bit tough. Other than that we had a very enjoyable evening - thank you for making our family meal relaxed and relatively stress-free!

Appalling coffee! This was a Flat White, and they didnt react when I said it's not great.
Food was good though

Fantastic Food Lovely service

Close to major roads yet has a country feel to it. Landscaped car park with adequate spaces. Inside there are many smaller eating areas that provide an intimate atmosphere. The menu has variety and the food enjoyable, service efficient and pleasant.

First time here but won't be our last....good food service and ambiance
P. B.
Nice hotel, attentive staff. Local infrastructure poor.
C. M.
Great location just off junction 10 of the M56. Decent wine and beer selection. I haven't tried the food so can't comment on that but it is part of the vintage Inns group and usually the food is good. It was certainly busy on a Sunday at lunch time.
T. H.
This is more than special I would highly recommend it if you have not been here before, the food is excellent the staff are very professional and the setting is old English pub with real fires.
M. O.
Lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Triple cooked chips were outstanding but the burger was just not good. It wasn't handmade and could have been a frozen one from Iceland... It lacked flavour and texture.
N. G.
Good well kept beer and the food was great. It was very busy at lunchtime with the sun shining.
F. H.
A bit out of the way but worth it. Right near the M56 so an excellent place to drop off on your journey. The food is excellent and a great choice of food. Can get very busy so it's best to book if you can. The staff are very pleasant too.
I. B.
Dog friendly pub. Good selection of beer but I stick to Estrella :-). Really friendly staff. Always make a fuss of our dog Oliver. Eaten here several times in the past. Good food if a tad expensive. Can get busy at times. It's really food oriented but one of our favourite Pubs to call in after a walking the dog. Keep it up guys.

Nice food lovely staff
K. W.
Food was lovely as always although the waiting staff wouldn't have been able to feed that back to the kitchen.
Nice to have log fire but it soon gets uncomfortably hot when the place warms up.
Would recommend the Apricot Brulee
P. W.
Had the best burger 🍔 in a long time .the place is lovely and not to expensive..
R. M.
Very nice lunch, especially the sticky toffee pudding & custard. Staff were lovely & all felt very covid secure. Highly recommend.

Good pub food but very slow service. However it was very busy and we only sat in the bar area to eat. Steak night on a Saturday where you can get three courses for 20 or 25 pounds. Would visit again but would aim to get a table in the restaurant area instead.
P. K.
Had a lovely few hours, our first time eating back out and our first time visiting the Stretton Fox, Excellent service throughout, lovely food, and well managed regards of the current situation. We will definitely be returning
J. V.
Excellent food and excellent service in spite of just how busy it was
M. J.
Nice pub with good food and staff and a good motorhome stopover.
K. G.
Great place to eat and have a drink. very good food and friendly staff.
A. M.
Great food and service. Dog and family friendly pub with outstanding food. The puddings were excellent and a wonderful decor with open fire and homely feel.
Will be visiting again very soon!
H. B.
Well trained polite hard working staff
B. S.
Really really good food - arguably the best roast I have had in a pub/restaurant.
They'd run out of cask beer which was a massive shame, but the whole experience was still lovely
A. P.
Great friendly staff & great food
A. C.
Nice food. Great staff. Clean and tidy.

Popped in for a bite to eat on a Thursday night. Had a lovely fresh.pizza and a couple of pints of real ale. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff amd reasonably priced. Definitely would go again when in the area.

Well I have to say I loved the vibe in this pub a very country cottage pub, warm and very welcoming though the real let down was the food. The starters we had calamari and the duo pate, the calamari was battered with great seasoning although a bit chewy. the pate was great but let down by the limited bread. Main was belly pork, string beans and dauphinoise which I did wondered where the rest of the meal was aswell as being tough next to the pie it looked like a starter. It does seem like I'm am being too critical but that was really the only let down the staff were lovely and the environment was great.

One of the better Vintage Inns, which is our favourite chain of pubs. It does a wide range of interesting beer, wine & gin. The food is excellent with reasonable portions. The pub has wooden beams and open fires, and is excellent place to have a meal after a winter walk.
D. B.
We visited today taking an old friend out for lunch. Very pleasant all round experience. Will call again.
C. M.
Best roast dinner I have eaten in years
T. E.
Stopped here the day that storm hit - Doris, was it? - back in February or March '17, and the motorway was all to cock. Had a great burger. Nice old building and all. Real wood fire. Reasonably priced. I'd come again if I lived nearby.

The first time in over 5 years that we have been in The Stretton Fox, one of a chain of 'Vintage Inns' our more local one bring The Walton Arms in Walton. The menu was mostly the same but to be honest the Walton Arms win hands down on food quality. However our waitress/ server was excellent, her name being Jodie. A credit to the team very friendly and helpful she gets 10 out of 10.

Food was good , staff friendly , but surprised waiting on staff not wearing
Face masks and got quite close when doing table service ,would of felt safer if they had , hence didnt stay for desserts .
H. J.
Had a lovely meal here - roasted salmon with grilled peppers, butternut squash etc. I have to say it was one of the nicest pub meals I've ever had. Definitely recommend.
P. B.
This has to be the best Hunters Chicken I've ever had. The chicken and Gammon were cooked to perfection and the chips are superb.
We were looked after by the lovely Kimberley and had a faultless dining experience
C.
An exellent meal, great food always and a big shout out to Chloe, for such lovely service...outstanding...The Steel family xxx

The food was ok when it came but we waited for 40min for it. The bar service was ok but only one person serving whilst others walked around. Looks a nice place and is big, shame that it wasn’t busy but the issue was speed of service. I will say not quality of service just the speed. Might go back but not in a rush to 🙊
B.
Really popular pub. Food is fairly priced, drinks a little on the expensive side. Service nothing but average. Quality of food, good honest, home style hearty home cooking. Not to gastro standard, but a good meal still. Worth a visit
R. w.
Food and service excellent always nice relaxed atmosphere
a. h.
Pleasant country pub with good food and drink. My only quibble is we had to wait some time for our food order to be served. I appreciate things are cooked to order, but this was really too long.
S. S.
Great food overall although we did have a couple of small issues. Service was very friendly and pleasant and the place has a great atmosphere
B.
Food quite good as usual, but visit was spoilt by staff members continually poking the fire next to our table, which resulted in smoke coming out from the fire everytime someone touched it. If I'd have wanted the smell from a barbecue, I'd have gone to one!
S. W.
Good food.good deals, either afternoon or evening meal for two or two or three courses.lots of choice.becoming one of our favourite places along with everyone else that's found it.
It is best to book your table to ensure that you can find a spot.
D. H.
Nice table, dog friendly in bar area. Food good and drinks reasonably priced.

Wonderful evening. Great atmosphere. Lovely meal.Very good service.A shame two of the desserts we chose were not available especially as it was early evening.

I had lunch at the Fox today and it was a most relaxing experience. The food was sublime and the service which was was polite and second to none, came with a lovely smile from the pleasant waitress. The pleasant surroundings added to the superb ambience. I wil certainly visit again. Highly recommended!

Got a table at short notice. Good food, good service and very popular. Lots of tables inside and out.

Gorgeous looking place; easy access off jct 10; food was delicious and looked amazing too. Staff very pleasant. We would definitely go again and recommend it to a friend.

Just been for lunch here with my daughter and son in law had lovely sharing starter and mine and my daughter's main meal was very nice, but my son-in-law didn't enjoy his as it was a mixed grill, which when it came was missing the fried egg and the lamb was very fatty and chewy, so wouldn't order that again
L. W.
Clean, warm and cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff, very efficient. Food tasty, warm and priced well.
