The Prince George is a great family run pub with a great South African Themed menu! Try the curry, it’s was so delicious with a big kick. My partner said the burgers always taste great. Haven’t been in a while but have been to a few Tuesday Night pub quizzes hosted by Adam. Always a great laugh! They have always been so accommodating when going with a friend which needed to have a Gluten Free menu, they were extremely helpful in this regard, cooked her meal separate so there was no gluten contamination. Well done!

Simply delicious. Couldn't fault the food! Huge, tasty, well cooked and very fine cuts of meat. This is the pork, the lamb and the beef. Roast of course. Lovely staff, warm and friendly atmosphere. The whole restaurant sang my mum happy birthday without prompt 😄 She was so delighted. 4 stars only because the restaurant room is a bit noisy (wooden floor). And they need to sharpen their knives so you can enjoy your meal without quite so much effort. Idea already passed on! We will be back. Loved it 😍

Arrived just after they opened on a Saturday. If this was an east end pub it’d be packed because it’s REALLY nice, I don’t know the location well but it seems off the beaten track. Very quiet from 12ish and starting getting busier at 3pm. Music playing was classic rock and some 80s pop. Currently table service. Ordered the halloumi fries (delicious! With minty yoghurt and pomegranate seeds) and then the mac and cheese - one with bacon and one without - and they were hot, tasty, but not too heavy. Ordered a bottle of Prosecco and got given raspberries and sparkling glasses. Attentive service and would definitely return.

What a pleasant surprise in Watford. We were staying at the nearby Holiday Inn and weren’t too excited about the nearby dinner options. We were so pleased to discover The Prince George. Run by a lovely family, the interior was smart, the food spot on with a mix of traditional and, interestingly, South African dishes. (Don’t miss the Dom Pedro). The pub is obviously popular and deservedly so.

Such a lovely place, the garden is great and so well kept, the interior is pretty as well. Staff are very nice. Never seen pub toilets this clean before!

Great work has been done here. Food is great, i had sea bass and fries with a dressed salad after returning from Cornwall. Food was of better quality and the cost was around half price. Service is promt but friendly. Dog menu also available..(sausages)# supportlocaltrade.

Service was very good but sadly food quality wasn't like that. Roast was not Sunday magical. Other meal was not enjoyed or finished. What they called an apple and berry crisp was simple dry ingredients thrown on top of what I believe was delightful fruit...think of protein powder spooned on top of warm fruit. Couldnt finish. Came here as a last night choice due to our recent visit to Harry Potter world. The staff were extremely inviting from the start which was lovely and, as we weren’t locals, made us feel extremely welcomed. Music was good and the food was out of this world. Glad to see they opened again. There are not many escaping options in the surroundings to wait as others search for treasures. This pub has a pretty good food (don’t miss the Sunday roast) and kind staff. If you are not hungry, their special sodas are not bad neither, and you can enjoy them in a welcoming room.

I have just had a wonderful Sunday lunch here. The staff were so friendly, warm, and welcoming - it really added to our overall experience. We were a group of three and concerned about Covid, but the staff put us at ease. We originally tried to sit outside near a heater, but it was obviously very cold. So, they reassured us, and gave us an inside table in a corner, making sure to keep us away from other people. On a busier day, this might not have been as easy, but I really appreciated the effort they went to. The food was great. All three roasts were delicious! I highly recommend and will definitely visit again.

A bit cold in the backyard but a single cozy heater is available! Cover available via a large lean to and marquee with enjoyable back ground music. Be careful what you order a planned chips and curry sauce turn into two dishes so a bill of £24 rather than £9.60. so minus a star I'm afraid. Luckily I was hungry and the food was great and well presented. Being under that single heater in a rain storm probably helped. Morning and afternoon sun only I'm afraid but the sunshine hospitality help make up for it

First time here and honestly disappointed on myself for not coming sooner, having lived in Watford for 3 years now. I had the Sunday Roast, the chicken. It was amazing. Very friendly staff, good selection of drinks. My friend really liked the ale, one from the Tring brewery he'd never heard of. But I am already planning to go back. And I love the decor and the beer garden. Amazing little pub.

Love this place! Perfect for after work drinks and casual food that tastes insanely good (their chef must be a magician). Also a shout out to the staff - as friendly and competent as they could be. Really cozy family-like atmosphere. Also usually it's not overcrowded but there are enough people in here to have some privacy; fave evening-chill pub in Watford at the moment :)

We were a party of 3 on Saturday night. Good atmosphere, clean and warm. Unfortunately the prawn skewers had sold out so we ordered Tear n share flatbread that was a bit disappointing as it came with cheddar, mozzarella and garlic mixed in with the dough rather than melted on top. Smoked salmon blinis and mac n cheese croquettes were very good. Swordfish steaks were good and fillet steak was excellent. Gin balloons and steak knives would be appreciated. Overall a very pleasant evening and we would definitely go back.

Great food and service. They went out of their way to provide our group with a good experience, including improvised kids dishes when requested The specials are great (I can recommend schnitzel night on Wednesdays, try the Aussie topping as well!) For vegetarians among you, the halloumi burger is a tasty choice. Nice selection of beers and ales and different specials every day of the week.

We are really impressed with The Prince George. Went there just out of the blue, we decided that we were only going to have one drink and we were going to head off to another restaurant, but we felt so comfortable we decided to try the whole Prince George experience. Went in here on steak night with my wife, we were not expecting much but found the pub to have lovely ambiance, staff were very attentive and the steak was amazing. We will defiantly be returning. Before spending your hard earned cash at places like the Grove and Prime I would give this a go, it was one of the best bits of steak we have had in years and we'll over half the price you would pay in the formentioned places.

My steak just wasn't seasoned very well and the soup was watery. I will certainly be back for a drink but not for food, I've eaten here a few times now and my latest meal wasn't a surprise.

It looks pretty uninspiring from the outside but is neat and tidy and has a friendly atmosphere inside. A couple of real ales on offer was a welcome surprise although one did run out pretty quickly. Staff were friendly and did a good job of hosting the private party we were attending.

A group of 12 (or so) of us arrived early Saturday afternoon to what was quite a quiet pub. Staff were really friendly, big tvs but sound low enough (or off?) to not be intrusive. Food was really nice too.

We went for a family birthday dinner; needless to say the gastronomic nuances of the meal were lost in news, gossip and silliness. I ordered a chuck steak which was cooked perfectly ( I have steak blue), but it could do with being better displayed, as it looked rather lonely on the black plate with a green bike swoosh of, salsa verde? A corporate cow!? Most of the table had roasts, which looked great, and from the bits I tasted, the looks did not deceive. The children's roast option, 50% portion, were as well done as the adults, though 'kids' standard fare appeared to be the lacklustre 'insert happy meal item here' and chips options. The food came out rather slowly, but as we we r e chin-wagging this wasn't as big a problem as it could have been and the waiting staff's friendliness and helpfulness could not be faulted. On the drinks side the beer selection was brilliant and comprehensive. I would definitely go back in a smaller party to compare the experience.

Lovely food, we were a large party and had not pre booked but the pub was fairly empty when we arrived so we were a slightly stunned when one of the staff said we should have pre booked. We understand the need to plan when accommodating a large group however we expected a service industry organisation, specialising in hospitality to understand the offer and welcome guests prepared to pay for food and drink. The venue was clean, the staff were helpful despite initially making us feel like intruders and a good time was enjoyed by all.

Used to love hanging out here as it is really beautiful and a usually good food. However, one of the staff members was very rude to us one time when we mentioned that we were not happy with our food. The guy who was apparently the manager basically called us stupid. We ordered something that was quiet expensive and out came a very small amount of food. For example the sausage listed in the description of the meal was cut into a third and we were literally served a third of a sausage. Now I do not know about you but if a menu lists a sausage in the description I come to expect a whole one. We mentioned this to the guy and he said "well if you order chips you do not know how many chips you will get....the sausage is the same." Seriously! Crazy situation but needless to say we were really put off going back.

Absolutely delicious Sunday roast in Watford. Staff are attentive, beautiful decor and most of all dogs are welcome. Although the servers are quite young they do their job very well. I’ve been to their other branches Horse and chain and The Royal Oak and it’s classic throughout.
