F. R. M. (.Nice place where go to enjoy the time, beautiful cover garden at side of the bar. It is a lovely place they has staff from diferentes countries and the food is nice and tasty.
The only bad think is they no has parking and is a bit difficult to found parking place.
R. W.Absolutely fantastic roast dinner, very enjoyable. So filling we unfortunately didn't have space for dessert! Great Aperol Spritz too. We were under heaters in the awning area, worked perfectly for us. Our pooch was well attended to and the chef came out to say hello. Would definitely recommend.
J. A.Lovely Sunday roasts. Need to ask for chips unsalted if ordering food with chips as they come horribly salty. In reply to your reply, we didn't expect or get free ice creams, you're mistaken there, perhaps thinking of another table. To reiterate the positive.. The roasts are exceptional, well worth a visit on a Sunday.

I first asked George the day before as we had a problem with our other venue and she got it sorted for me to use the outside area so fast! When we arrived, they made everything so easy and everything ran smoothly. The bar service was friendly and brilliant and the manager was so accommodating. The landlady came down to see us and check we were okay and she was so warm and friendly. We had the most brilliant time and would recommend this beautiful pub to anyone! All of the guests thought it was excellent and had such a good time. I am so glad the other venue didn’t work out as it couldn’t have been better.
p. G.Decent pub, new land and lady seem like a funky couple. Good vibe about the place. Only issue was the music inside was too loud whilst dining so hard to have a chat. But still a good place for a drink.
R. P.On Watford Heath a traditional pub that also serves decent food. Plenty of staff so no waiting and a wide variety of drinks including locally brewed cask beer. Loos clean where everything worked. It's not huge inside but they have a large marquee and lots of seating outside as well.
If coming by car use the local recreation ground close by as that has ample parking

B. U.We had heard good things about the Sunday Roast at Royal Oak so made the journey out to check it out our for ourselves. We had booked a table and had a baby with us and the staff had accommodated this for us perfectly. The food blew me away and our only wish is that we lived closer to the pub.
Would recommend to everyone and if you go on a Sunday, book in advance.. it’s popular!

P. U.Came here for a friend's birthday, the service was fantastic, particularly from Lana who checked on us at regular intervals, and bright our drinks out quickly. The food was gorgeous and were very generous portion sizes. The atmosphere was also very welcoming, there was a basket with blankets available with heaters between tables under a large covered area. Altogether a very enjoyable experience, will definitely come back.

Staff are welcoming, and they have really thought about social distancing measures, which they are implementing well. R. C.I used this pub for an event recently and the staff were excellent. But it was the food that was the star of the day. It was different, tasty and brilliant. All single portions - sliders.. Mini burgers in buns. The beef patties appeared handmade and we're really tasty. The Thai curry pots were amazing. I have eaten here as well and they food was brilliant then too. Very generous, very tasty. It also has the bonus of being next to a rather large green space where you can sit if you wish. Highly recommended!

P. A.Went there for a drink one Saturday night and it was very quiet. The bar staff are really nice and friendly but it just seems to have a bit of an identity crisis as to what it wants to be. Is it wanting to be a small gastro pub with a separate restaurant, or a bar serving food at the tables?
Visited again on 11/07/20 (as bars start to re-open post lockdown) and was very impressed with their whole set up for ordering drinks & clearly marked places to relax. Very friendly security & bar staff & it was good to see it so well supported by the local community.

M. V.I had the pleasure of visiting this pub last night. Had a young lady on acoustic guitar singing an array of different songs. She was very talented and added to the pleasant ambiance of the pub. We ordered a chicken burger and a Durban style curry, both were plentiful and tasty. The staff were bright, friendly and helpful, I will be going again and strongly advise visiting this pub.

R. B.What a gem of a pub. Friendly, efficient staff and a nice vibe to the place on a late Friday afternoon. Small but good selection of beers, same for the wine list.
The menu is relatively small as well with a few minor South African influence to some dishes (boerewors and mash instead of traditional sausage and mash, for example) but all executed very well, better than I would normally expect for "pub grub".
I feel like they've gone for a focus on quality over quantity in terms of number of beers, wines and menu items (the portion sizes were definitely not small!) and they do it very well. We'll definitely be back.
N. B.I just had the most delish roast dinner at the Royal Oak. The beef melted in my mouth, and the veggies were so fab even my kids cleaned the plate!! Amazing!! The kid sized potions were just right. Everyone left happy in this very family friendly pub.
The new owners have created the perfect vibe. Counting down the days til my next visit to this little oasis....only 7 sleeps til next Sunday !

M. A.Visited this pub with two other couples on a Saturday evening. Very pleasant inside with a log fire. The food we ordered took 90 minutes to prepare and due to an ordering error, one member of our party waited a further 15 minutes, by which time the rest had almost finished their food. We couldn't really praise the food, it wasn't that good.
Staff were friendly and very apologetic.
It could have been an off night in the kitchen.
M. H.Tina, you are clueless. My family were in just this afternoon with our 2 year old son and we felt that the staff were more than accommodating for him. They offered us the kids roast and even asked if we would like to order just a bowl of vegetables for him, which we did and they were delicious. He had a kids ice cream and the staff were some of the friendliest and welcoming I have met in a long time.
A. H.We had the most amazing roast lunch this afternoon. 4 adults and 5 kids, all food arrived at the same time and we all cleaned our plates! The kids portions were spot on and even the slightly fussy eaters didn’t complain and thoroughly enjoyed their lunch. The beef and lamb were great quality and cooked beautifully and the vegetables were fresh and tasty. I’d love the recipe for those Yorkshire puddings!! The new owners have transformed an old favourite pub and we look forward to long summer days on the Heath again. We’ll be back for lunch soon. Thanks!

I have a 4-year old and she just loves the Sunday roasts (as do I!!). They come with a fab selection of fresh veg, and as a Mum, I love it as she eats the whole lot, as well as my carrots, too! My NCT mum friends and their little ones are big fans too - we meet their regularly. We’ve all eaten at the RO many times now and haven’t been disappointed. I can highly recommend this place. R.Great pub under new management owners are South Africans who make everything fresh and sell their homemade biltong( sort of beef jerky but better)have kept it as a traditional country pub with a roaring fire during the cold months, you can have a beer/food whilst with your dog due to it remaining a dog friendly pub it's a perfect stop from those dog walks.
The owners have plans to utilise the common opposite the pub in the summer months so can't wait to see what they come up with.
Will definitely go back again I highly recommend the Royal Oak on Watford Heath

This is an 18th Century Public House founded by John Banham in 1819, when it first became the Royal Oak, and the first pub in Watford to become Licensed. There was a building on this site since 1666.
