Reviews of The Anchor Pub & Kitchen
Lovely little pub in a great location always great food here really tasty fish and perfect chunky chips. The owners are very welcoming and friendly staff all round. One of the best pubs in the UK IMO. Careful at night time if you drink a lot you may end up in the water XD
Another great visit to this pub...good food and great beer and drinks.
Hopefully be back again at some point in the future or when chugging through on the river Severn or canal. Cheers to all the friendly staff and their cheerful service..
Pub garden was lovely and spacious.
Staff extremely friendly to dogs and human. Another diner very rude about our dog who was well behaved and quiet throughout meal. The staff took the time to apologise even though not their fault and said undeserved and not warranted. The food was excellent and apart from the other diner was welcoming and a great venue just a grouchy person which had nothing to do with our enjoyable evening and we do not hold the pub or staff to blame. 5 stars for venue, staff and food.
This is a pub well worth A visit.
The food menu is thorough with special deals during the week.
The beer, wine, cider, lager and spirit's on offer provide a wide choice.
There is an extensive seating ares outside too.
The toilets are well maintained and kept clean.
Customer service is first rate. The bar and restaurant is clean however it could do with re-painting.
Good food .
We weren't told our table was outside , luckily not too cold.
Service a little slow but they were busy.
The small extras we asked for were no problem . I had a Sunday roast pork which was good , the beef was rather ' chewy.
Veg selection was very good . Drinks are a little expensive .
Lovely pub. Came from Cardiff for the day and followed the river down and to see this amazing place along the canal. Great staff and a lovely place to enjoy a cold beer. Next time I'm up I'll definitely coming back in here again.
Absolutely first class meal today! The attention to detail and communication before our visit was fantastic, with a bespoke meal being made for one of our party who is a vegetarian. We eat out on Christmas Day a lot, and weren't sure what to expect, as we'd never been to The Anchor before. We needn't have worried - we had the warmest of welcomes, the atmosphere was so friendly and relaxed, the service was second to none and the food was possibly the best we've ever experienced on Christmas Day. Great family run pub with superb food - we'll definitely be back.
Nice pub, the food is better than you would expect from the look of the place. The staff are great too.
Amazing decor was all we had for the anchor. I was so disappointed with the smell of fish and standard of the grill meat presented to us. Our waitress was attentive, full of smiles ,informative and very friendly, but the chefs skills let this beautiful location down ,along with the over stench of seafood. Unfortunately if you're eating here but not a seafood fanatic, the stench is overwhelming.
Our local - Amazing food Breakfast, Lunch time or Dinner.
Can highly recommend the coffee!
Dog friendly & great staff! Lovely environment and sense of community!
All staff very friendly. Food excellent, huge portions.
Gem of a pub
We've used this place before and today it saved the day as we could not get into the Diglis Hotel and had lunch here without having to book. The staff were great allocating tables that were booked at later times as long as you vacated before they arrived. The outside tapas and meals were new to us but the food was excellent Greek salad, belly pork, arancinis and calamari. The lamb kofatas we ordered werent available but we're seen delivered later by the local butcher, so we opted for the pork which was excellent. There's not great deal of draught ale but the Guinness and Wainwright's were wonderful fresh and cool. The staff coped well with the continuous flow of walk ins and juggling the tables so as not to disappoint. A lovely birthday lunch on the hottest day of the year.
This is the 1st time I've been and will definitely be returning. Lovely setting, great food and very attentive staff.
Nice pub and staff. The food is miles better than the outside would make you believe.
Nice little pub, tucked away by Worcester Marine Basin. We were walking past and it looked inviting. A varied menu, catering for most tastes. Prices were reasonable and quality was very good. Staff were polite and reasonably quick. We were in the covered outside area which was just as well as it rained whilst we were their. A good experience which will be repeated in near future. Thank you The Anchor.
Absolutely beautiful food really worth while
Pleasant staff. Sunday lunch was okay but I have heard main meals are very good
Great food, great service. Nice and cosy atmosphere, ticks all the boxes. Thanks guys, will be back :)
An excellent breakfast with friendly staff. Definitely come again and worth a visit
Great place to eat and drink and right by the canalside and no to far from the river and city if Worcester.
I love this little pub...been for a pint or two many times whist riding the canal toe paths with my mates. But on reading the menu online, seems I've been missing out.. planning on a visit soon because I just have out try those dirty fries, just check their menu think you'll want them too...
Great service here. Very attentive waiters. The food was OK but 12quid for a Hallumi wrap with chips was overly pricey. The truffle chips extra cost was not something that you could evidently see made a difference. Great venue and a lovely walk down to the canal make this worth the visit though.
really nice place. didn't eat there so can't comment on the food.
A small outside courtyard with benches and tables. Good service. Cappuccino, hot chocolate and latte were great!
Great pub with lots of space. Located in the revitalised river barges harbour area. Large outdoor courtyard area, part of which is covered and has heaters. Inside is modern with plenty of ventilation from folding doors in one part and the traditional pub on the other side of the courtyard
First visit since refurbishment was a nice pub before and now a VERY nice pub, more room more seating and good staff.
Great lunch, lovely spot in Worcester. Was just passing thru but ended up staying and eating here for lunch both days. Great fishfinger sandwich and chunky chips
Plenty of outdoor seating, some under cover, serving good quality drinks and great food cooked to order and served promptly. A pleasant outlook onto Diglis Marina and seating outside right on the quayside makes for a great ambience.
Good friendly quick table service under the current covid rules.
A great experience on a sunny day.
I enjoyed the Anchor Inn, it was a nice pub, reasonable prices, large outdoor seating area right next to the marina and it was had 2 bars on either side. Staff seemed pleasant and the facilities were functioning and clean. It is a bit more off the beaten path so it's quieter than the pubs just off the river.
Lovely mocha but a bit small for the price (£3.50)
Had a great lunch with family. Staff very helpful
We stopped here for a pint whilst discovering the city with my sister. Lovely place, attentive staff and great atmosphere. No complaints!
Lovely outdoor space, great location for boaters. Good service, but unfortunately no food available when we were there. Happy for us to order a meal to be delivered though so it all worked out well.
Kitchen shut when we arrived (8pm)sunday . Good selection of beers sat outside in the evening sun great location.
Lovely place great food, service and atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
Lovely staff and good food although a little overpriced.
A good pub. Have eaten and drank here on many occasions. The large beer garden (yard) is a sheltered sun trap. Good food.
Evening meal with mom Dad and the boys 😍 all great meals. Good service and a nice place to meet. We will definitely book again 😀
It's a real shame, the venue, atmosphere and service of this place Is second to none, however the food was extremely overpriced for what it was. We paid £13 for a burger that I could have got from McDonald's. Also, the burger was very burnt and we were informed there was only 1 chef on but the organisation was clearly not there as its a busy Sunday on a bank holiday weekend, there should have been some additional help. We would return for drinks as the location is lovely, but I would not recommend ordering food, you're better off getting a takeaway.
Excellent food with great staff
Lovely food, amazing service!
You have to try the crevete!
This was my third visit and for the third time I was not disappointed. First two visits with my wife was on a Worcester trip where we really enjoyed the food and restaurant area inside. Third visit with my mates when we needed a break from cycling along the canal. On this occasion we sat outside looking over Diglis Basin which is just a lovely location. Enjoyed our beer and would not hesitate to return again.
Local, great food and drink, would visit again
Lovely pub. Nice atmosphere. Good staff
Perfect place to meet friends, dining or snacks available.. Great atmosphere
Very friendly and helpful staff and customers, will definitely go again.
Great place for lunch and a pint. Best fish finger sandwich ever.
Great Pub & Restaurant food very good and service excellent
Our first pub visit since lockdown and very impressed with how The Anchor have set up to ensure social distancing. Very friendly staff, good service and a great atmosphere. Will definitely be making another visit
Had the fish pie and a couple of pints of 61 deep here. Firstly it was clearly popular judging by the amount of people which is always a good sign. They managed to fit 5 of us in without a booking but I'd recommend it if you're eating. Not massive inside but lovely proper wooden tables and floors. Was very warm so made the whole experience like the cosy old pub days. The fish pie was superb filled me up and was the best I'd tasted out. The staff were very attentive and very polite they alone were worth the 5 stars. I have never been to any other pubs in Worcester but I'd still recommend this over the rest as it was simply faultless.
Great atmosphere, good drinks, good food. Unfortunately no wheelchair accessible toilets.
Ace pub and great atmosphere beer good, but food and wine are pitiful. Gave five stars as I don’t think they are trying to attract visitors for food.
Menu choices are adventurous and raise expectations but result is childish and quality is that of a first time attempt. There is no care nor any attempt at taste or subtlety very disappointing I’ll only come again for beer and atmosphere
July 2019 back after new chef still same review as above
Booked a table for a family birthday meal for 7 of us. One of the few pubs in Worcester City to offer food on a Monday night. Choice of bar/standard menu and or Xmas menu. Good communication witb owner beforehand. Friendly helpful staff. Cozy welcoming and tasteful shabby chic decor. Wood floors. Open fire. Twinkly lights. Great location by the canal and Diglis basin. Lovely outside sitting area. You can take your dog. Very clean toilet and wash basin facility. We had a good meal. Service was friendly efficient and flexible for example 1 of the children wanted custard only and this was made and a generous portion given. We had the biggest apple crumble ever. The braised beef beautiful and tender. 1 of our party is slimming and this was accommodated with a very nice chicken salad. Real ale passed all the test for taste and quality. Good value for money. Would recommend and we will go back again next time to book the boat house outside. Try it out. You wont be disappointed.
Love this pub as it sits on the water in the Diglis basin (start of the Worcester to Birmingham canal). Great summer venue as the large beer garden is also dog friendly. Bit chilly other times of the year but they do have patio heaters. There is a small bar with a smallish dining area as the building look to be old (as in historic) with odd shaped rooms. There is a long separate function room alongside the beer garden. It is also a short walk into town along the paved path on the canal. It’s also within walking distance of the River Severn with lovely scenic walks there. Haven’t tried the food there but always smells good. Highly recommended.
The best chicken wings & burger ever had. Great attentive staff both front and back of house. Cheers!
Sunday lunch excellent, staff friendly and very efficient
Good pub on the canal basin.
Friendly service and lively happy vibe. The bar area was small and busy, so we sat out side, it wasn't untill we were ready to leave we saw there was another room that was empty. Tip, ask about seating.
Would recomend and return.
A bright clean place (that smells nice) where you can bring a well behaved dog is a hard thing to find - The Anchor is now our go to place! Took my father here for a birthday lunch yesterday and everyone was really pleased with the food (new menu since I was last in). The winner was the VERY impressive fish finger sandwich! Warning if you are coming on the weekend - book in advance if you can, this place fills up (and rightly so) !
A lovely pub by the canal. They have a good selection of real ales. We spent a pleasant hour here enjoying a drink in their beer garden. Three Worcester Warriors players were there too! Highly recommended!
Very cozy. The food looks delicious
It seemed fine, bit pricey but was fine for our Xmas Dinner.
Great food & one of the only beer gardens in Worcester! Amazing for a nice drink in the evening sunshine.
Very friendly helpful staff, when my husband accidentally knocked over my drink they gave me another free.
Welcoming atmosphere and lovely outdoor seating area. Indoor seating available alongside a seperately out building for private functions and an auxiliary bar during summer periods.
Didn't try the food but judging by the noises people made when tucking into their food, I'd say it was rather decent. It smelt good too!
Lovely atmosphere. Lovely staff. Great food and drink.
Would have got a better rating but served our sunday roast cold (how do you do that?). Rectified without fuss but no acknowledgement on the bill despite one of our party having to eat alone while we waited. Not good enough. Still a good pub in a lovely setting though.
Lunch time visit with friends and children and dogs during walk along the canal. Dog friendly - provides water bowls which were needed as it was a hot day. Lovely sunny courtyard leading off from the canal basin and small cosy interior rooms. Nice and varied choices on the lunch menu and the sandwiches proved to be lovely and well made. Free wifi.
Great staff & enjoyed the outdoor eating. Not overly expensive either....
It was difficult to park near the Inn and we had quite a walk to get there. Food was good but some items were missed off our order. Had to ask for them ie vegetables with roast dinners. Very busy perhaps short staffed. Will go back perhaps a week day when it is quieter.
7 of us went for Sunday lunch, we had the roast dinner, I can honestly say its the best roast I've ever had. There was so much food. The veg was cooked to perfection and the cauliflower & broccoli cheese was spot on. . great service with a sense of humour. Top marks. We'll be back!! Tracey
Amazing food, cracking beer and reasonable priced, all topped off with a great atmosphere.
Based on a quick lunch break with a friend I really enjoyed this. Tasty, nicely presented food in a pleasant environment, with very reasonable prices. Good service too. Next time I'm in that part of Worcester again I wouldn't hesitate to go to the Anchor.
Since being updated 6 months ago, this pub has gone from strength to strength.
Food is brilliantly made traditional food (very hard to find nowadays) and the beer is fantastic.
Great location (now the garden has been renovated) canal side with an outdoor bar too and table service.. Cracking pub, you can't go wrong..
Great beer and friendly staff in a great location
Great pud, nice food and drinks, staff very nice
Excellent food, all homemade and very tasty, good portion sizes. Waiting staff very pleasant and accommodating. Would definitely recommend. Will be returning. Well done Nick and staff.
Fast friendly service and massive portions
Great atmosphere, good service and a well kept pint.
Excellent food and drinks and a fantastic take away service to brighten up the present situation. An establishment well worth supporting.
Doing great take away food during these strange times. Well worth a small detour if you're doing the circular walk town bridge / Diglis bridge.
Best freshly cooked fish and chips I've ever tasted. No grease to be seen or tasted. Served by exceptional caring staff. A real find.
Brilliant Christmas day family feast! Fantastic service that couldn't be faulted, perfect food for each course, lovely atmosphere and some nice extra touches. Great organisation from start to finish. Great job guys,we loved it,thank you 😋
Great place at night, music and food
Lovely interior and nice garden when the weather is good. Nice menu and good special offers, especially the Wednesday pizza 241 at lunchtime - need to ask them when you book though, especially if visiting during your lunch break!
Wow I used to go there back when I was a kid, I remember it having the skittle alley and the big avery of birds before they opened it up at the back. The changes however are amazing outside the place was packed out, the food smelled put of this world and the atmosphere was lively and fun. To me even though I've lived on worcester all my life it was like being on holiday I would highly recommend paying the anchor a visit.
Lovely food in a setting beside the canal basin. Dog friendly.
This is simply a great little pub that serves great food and is a throw back to when great service and quality was the norm.
Def visit if you want to avoid chains.
Need to have some more real ales on, otherwise a decent local, good food, location and atmosphere.
A wonderful gem hidden away overlooking the marina. Very friendly staff and the food looks great!
Came here a few months ago on a Sunday and had Sunday roast and it was really tasty and nice and the staff were very friendly anf helpful.
And all by the lovely marina at Diglis so you can have a lovely walk along by the Cathedral after to burn it off.
Nice location near Diglis wharf parking nearby for River Severn Walks.
Good selection of Ales and Lagers..small a bit of a squeeze when busy good outdoor area pus a confe room. 10min walk to Worcester City by footpath or Riverside walk. A local pub.
The Anchor at diglis Worcester is in my opinion one of the best if not the best place to have a English breakfast. It offers great value really nice bacon eggs sausage tomatoes mushrooms etc etc . portion size is big i think its worth every penny. The only thing i like my bacon done a little more If you ask they will cook it how you like it.. The best around, & i can assure you i have tried lots this place will live up to your expectations
.Great pub. A real pub with a range of different options for customers. We had a dog who was made welcome in the snug and 6 of us had a great meal. Totally recommended
Polite service, tasty food, pleasant surroundings.
Having booked table for lunch with 5 adults and four boisterous.dogs Lorna could not have done more for us and the food was amazing a really comfortable family pub will definitely be going again
We went for Sunday lunch. We were lucky to get in as we did not book, although we will in future as it was very busy. The food was very nice the service was a little slow but they were very busy (as I said we were lucky to get in.) The Staff were very friendly and made you feel welcome. We will certainly go again.
Amazing place to sit, watch the world go by just as well with the slow table service
We went to a birthday party here. Many of us who had steak felt that the menu was very overpriced and left feeling hungry after having the 10oz steak at £16.
Always fantastic food and great service. Lovely view of Diglis basin too.
Nice food and lovely ambience in this little local gem.
Lovely meal and brilliant service on a very busy evening.
Great food. We followed other good reviews and it was worth the walk we had to get there.
Great Pub looking onto the marina, friendly helpful staff, didn't eat but looking round people where certainly enjoying there food, and it looked very nice, only 4 stars because I cant comment on the food, but I'm sure it was delicious, definitely call in on our next trip down...
Very good but cheesy chips now 1/2 the size
Food was great, but the dining area was very cold. I will return for the food, but will be better equipped if it's in the winter months.
We were in the bar which was a little tired.A good selection of draught ales though and the food was nicely cooked and presented, though the plates were cold. All in all not bad 7 out of 10.
Great food, well kept ales and a lovely view of the Diglis canal basin. Well worth the short walk from Worcester town centre along the river bank pathway.
Great food, great staff
Can usually get a table at the restaurant and the food is lovely. Weekends are pretty busy though. Love the decor in the place as well, it is a great local.
Fab breakfast well worth a visit. Hot good food value for money. Lovely staff.
Lovely food, nice young lady serving, food did take a while though and dining room was a bit chilly!
Cosy and warm with 2 multi fuel stoves on the go on a wet and dank day, food delish, good service, wide range of drinks, well worth a visit, dog friendly too.
Friendly staff, great beer garden and views. Lovely summer's day venue outside with BBQ or cozy up inside on a cold day.
Great location , good beer, nice traditional feel indoors,... like the Sunday roast in a bun! Courtyard could use some TLC instead of just cramming in the maximum number of tables
Good food, great beer and friendly staff. What’s not to like?
One of the best burgers iv ever had and the staff were friendly and welcoming would definitely recommend to everyone
Little pub based in Diglis Marina, good inexpensive food, cold beers and great location for a summer's walk and drink.by the canal.
A small canal basin side pub which serves beer from the Marstons range. When the weathers good you can sit outside and have good views of the boats moared-up.
Loved it. Had a super full English breakfast. The staff are friendly and the pub is dog friendly.
Beautiful pub right next to the marina - perfect for a sunny day. Food is very good and great outdoor seating area for the summer!
Great little pub. The staff are superb and the food is second to none. Would highly recommend this pub/restaurant to anyone.
Just stopped for drinks, after a walk round the river, nice warm welcome, dog friendly! Looking forward to returning for a lunch time meal
Great staff, great food - Thanks a bunch!
Excellent little pub with great food
Sort of ok but falls between two stools. Not smart enough to be trendy and not original enough to attract me. Garden was full and pub empty and it was not that hot.
Great food!
Found this quite by accident, just off Diglis Basin. What a find. Banoffee cheesecake an absolute marvel!
Lovely little pub with amazing food nice atmosphere and pleasant music. They offer free WiFi just ask the landlord for Man Utd password 😄
An old classic for us, been coming here for the 5 tears that I've lived in Worcester. A. Ice reliable growing pub that serves great food and drink
Bustling outdoor area, lovely indoor cafe space too
Great value for money and we will be back
Great food in decent pub by canal. Large outdoor area with additional tables for food in an old skittles ally.
Lovely little courtyard and excellent breakfast and service
Great venue. Busy, yet attentive staff.
Nice pub, good atmosphere, easy access, but the staff are a bit on the slow side.
Great food, great customer service and excellent value for money. Great beer garden!
Lovely staff, let us order takeaway bacause they don't serve food on Mondays!
Not a bad little place can't say much as i haven't really done much there other than have a couple of drinks.

Beautiful wharfside location, really good outdoor seating dining area, good menu
Absolutely gorgeous food and very attentive staff I had leg of lamb my partner had chicken...
Had the rump steak. Cooked to perfection and the triple cooked chips were out of this world
The best fish finger sandwich ever.
Good meal, definitely better than national 'chain' restaurants, but dearer as well.
It's ok... Nice for a drink next to Diglis Basin when the weather's good but quite expensive for food given the quality !!!
Friendly local pub. Simple formula - superb beers and great cobs.
Interesting setting next to the river marina, food ok but the outdoor eating area a bit tatty.
Ideally situated close to the marina and the canal. A relaxing setting with both indoor and outdoor seating.
Lovely atmosphere and very nice room. Buffet was great.
