O. B.Some pleasant decor, reasonable wait times, helpful staff. My steak order came back a bit wrong, but I think they were dealing with a lot that day on account of appliance faults. Family were pleased with the baguettes and all day breakfast looked like great value for money.

N. c.Been for a meal tonight with my partner and two boys! Can't ever fault the retreat! It's always our go to pub for a family meal. Staff are always friendly, nothing is ever too much for them and the food is always spot on! All reasonably priced as well. We look forward to our next visit! Thank you once again for a lovely time!

P. L.We enjoyed lunch here today, for the first time since the pandemic began. I had the chicken and bacon baguette, served with salad, at my request, (instead of chips and onion rings offered on the menu). It was crammed with meat, and delicious. I was particularly impressed that this pub has not introduced huge price rises, as some places have. My baguette and a coffee cost £7.75, less than the £8 I paid for just a sandwich at a nearby garden centre recently.
The staff were very friendly, and keen to make sure we had everything we wanted.

J. S.Good location & food with a great variety on the menu. The pub was very clean with some tables still not in use, so it felt very safe & that covid was still being suitably considered.
We all had a fantastic night, which was in no small way down to our waiter who was very welcoming & friendly, immediately putting our whole group at ease & happy to be there; I can't praise him enough, especially when we later learned that he was only on his 4th shift!
We will definitely be going back.

#5 Comment on the board about germs is a little harsh and unnecessary given the presentation of our wooden table top overshadowing a decent meal out.
Really need rubbing down and coating or a paper cover to toss away afterwards it had inground grime on it..
Ambience would be less stagnant with at least some background music.
Keep up the good grub..

Weve been using the Retreat for years for family meals, and the quality is now nowhere near as good as it used to be. Food was ok, and not any to complain about. But its not what is was.
Menu is also significantly reduced from what it used to be.
I. F.Tried the Retreat 'cos our car club may be having monthly meetings there. Good choice, decent car park, nice venue and the service and food was great. Only minus 1 star because I ordered a light bite, and it was ENORMOUS, server realised kitchen had done full meal. I waited whilst he saw if they wanted to change it, but they decided not to. Thanks was fine, although I hate waste and didn't eat it all. However when I checked out - I think they charged me for the full meal. Never mind, c'est la vie!
M. R.The staff were very friendly and helpful. There were 11 of us and we all ordered food. The food was served to us all at the same time, hot and very tasty. Everyone in our group enjoyed the food which was good value for money. Well done to the chef and the rest of the staff on New Years Day.

Excellent three course meal, fantastic value for money, friendly staff and all in a cosy warm family pub with a roaring log fire and festive decorations. Would definitely recommend this pub and I'll certainly be returning to enjoy more meals...a really great place!

H.Had a lovely Xmas fayre meal at the retreat , six in the party,very friendly and accommodating,my friend has dietary needs and they were very helpful and asked if there was any else they could do,they really put themselves out for her, doesn't happen in other restaurants we have been to. S. M.Disappointed tonight for the first time. Maybe an off night. Had gammon that was very over cooked and dry. Wife had a burger that was also over cooked and dry. Vegan burger was also poor and curly fries burned. Was all edible but not as good as usual. Service was also slower than we’ve had before and it was fairly quiet. Possibly our order followed a large group so maybe we just got unlucky. Based on previous meals and other reviews would probably try again.

R.We turned up at THE RETREAT by accident really as i needed the toilet,Whilst i was away my hubby got us a coke and asked the friendly staff if we could have a menu but was told that we needed to book a table as they were all fully booked,So my advice is please book a table as you are most probably be told that they are fully booked,it's quite a big pub and very clean,I couldn't fault anything.

Popped in after work as we dont like the way the Timberdine in St Peters is dealing with their Social distancing
Only one way in and one way out signage good no probs:
Explained at the visitors table to insert sanitizer onto hands then erxplained as to how it works:
Took a seat / table which is way over the social distancing/ there are even tables to insert used plates onto for staff to collect to save staff coming to the tables
Lots of families with kids enjoying there meals etc:

you pay each time you go up so no final bill:
Food good Fresh tasty and of course we had the government eat out to help
2 starters 2 mains 2 x large glasses of wine half lager £30 or so
everyone was adhering to the social distancing
I like the way this pub have sorted the Social distancing thing bookings are advisable but you will feel safe and at a distance from other families and Guests
We didnt use Loos so cannot comment on this

L.Food was ok plenty of it but little greasy I had fish, my only problem were the flies, way to many for restaurant, one person I was with couldn't drink wine because fly landed in it, we did say to waiter but he didn't seem concerned at all and just walked off, so we spent most of our time squatting flys and couldn't really enjoy meal, I think they had air con but must of been broken and windows were wide open which made problem worse, we should of eaten outside wasn't any out there,
