Reviews of Anchored in Worthing
K. B.
Compact and bijou. Excellent range of ales and ciders. Gin to. Good prices. Above all it's the overall friendly atmosphere of Mine Host and the locals that makes this wonderful pub a ' must visit '. Trust me you'll make it a regular drop in.
J. R.
Lovely little pub! Certainly different from your usual bar but for all the good reasons. Staff and locals are very very friendly! Great range of very tasty beers. A must visit for sure!
T. I.
A woderfull local bar serving Sussex beers, and an interesting clientele. Small, cosy and fun
N. H.
Popped into this place having spotted it on my way to a hotel on a business trip, Great beer, excellent locals, I learned loads about the south coast music scene. Wish I had had more time. Just watch out for the dried scorpion!
G. B.
Fabulous, tiny micro pub along West Buildings just down from the seafront. Low ceilinged, tall tables and benches facing each other positively encourage conversation. The walls and ceiling are adorned with all types of paraphernalia and hundreds of pump clips, all of which have apparently been served here. There was a choice of three cask ales and four ciders, all of which are dispensed in the back room meaning there is no bar as such. Warm and cosy, dog friendy and Nigel the owner was only too pleased to chat for ten minutes. My wife and daughter in law had a medium sized glass of wine each, I had a pint, this came to a rather frightening £17.80, making the wine about seven quid a glass. The place calls time at 9pm with chucking out time half an hour later. Well worth a visit but if you drink wine, go prepared.
R. B.
A great find. Proper little locals bar that warmly welcomes visitors. Great ciders.

A quirky micropub sourcing ale, cider and perry, from local sources. So too with wine, vermouth and gin.
It opens at midday and closes at 9:30 pm on weekdays ( not monday) and saturdays and 12 to 5 pm on Sundays.
Nigel takes good care of the casks and barrels and the relaxed atmosphere is a home to conversation. There is no tv, slot machine or juke box.
Reasonably priced, well worth a visit when in Worthing.

Very welcoming and friendly quirky little pub perfect for our afternoon drink 😊😊

This place is awesome.
Just down for a little trip, happened to see it.
If I lived nearby I'd be in here about every day.
Legitimately wonderful atmosphere and pub
D. H.
Gr8 friendly people good knowledge of the beers they are selling. Had a couple on site then a carry out for the beach. Will be back.
K. B.
We loved visiting this micropub whilst in Worthing. The owner and regulars are lovely and made us feel really welcome. It's worth a visit just to see all the amazing souvenirs stuck on the walls/ceiling!
M. B.
A lovely, friendly micropub, good beers and friendly people
m. r.
Something different from the norm. Fantastic ale, really friendly staff and regular’s
I. H.
Absurdly tiny yet cunningly outfitted bar within sight of the sea, serving nothing but Sussex beers and wines, with owners and regulars who are down-to-earth but happy to chat to strangers.
A. P.
Lovely community pub just off the centre of Worthing
S. P.
Such a friendly place. Lots of light hearted banter and everyone is really inclusive. Great local beers, wines and ciders. Reasonable prices. Close to the beach. It's the best Ale House I've ever been to.
a. d.
Fantastic place great beers and cider and very social so get on down and say hi to Nigel and Deborah see you there.
J. T.
Really nice place for a beer - well kept ales, friendly landlord and quirky decor. A must-visit in Worthing.
J. W.
Absolutely fantastic people & beer in this characterful little brewery. Amazingly friendly, interesting and very welcoming. Look out for Jazz the dog too. Thank you for a great evening 😍
F.
Great little gem, wonderful selection of beers and cider, at good prices. Friendly staff and locals, will make sure we pop in again when visiting Worthing.
R. J.
Great micropub with hood atmosphere, nice quirky place for a beer or three!
N. W.
Fantastic micropub, and it is very small, where conversation is unavoidable and all the better for it. Three well kept real ales and, at least while I was there, two real ciders and a Perry. A must visit pub for any lover of great pubs.
J. W.
Great little place I found by accident. Serving real ales from Sussex. If you really like proper ales then you must visit. Landlord greeted me like an old pal. Lovely quiet evening with good conversation. Highly recommended.
A. B.
Real ale drinkers paradise specialising in Sussex ales, ciders and now gin. Pub is intimate and therein lies its charm. It won't be to everyone's taste for sure but you'd never be able to fault the welcome or the ales the rest is up to you. NB: unlike the attitude of the 1 star reviewer below I've never known this pub or its patrons to stink.
P. W.
A micro pub with a changing selection of local beers. Spartan seating and a little cluttered with junk which I suppose is there to add charm. Toilet could do with an upgrade. However, the beer is well kept and very reasonably priced and the landlord is friendly. Very much a place for the older real ale drinker.
S. B.
The best micro pub in Worthing. Serves Sussex beers, ciders, perry, wine and softies. What they don't know about beer probably isn't worth knowing! Had fun at the quiz whilst drinking wine and eating snacks - a perfect evening.
B. W.
A great micro pub. You might go in on your own but withing a few minutes you will be chatting to all the other customers while enjoying real ales, ciders and wines from micro breweries in Sussex. Also a nice little selection of local cheeses to go with your drinks. Give it a visit and you won't be disappointed.
A. F.
A great micro pub. 1st in Sussex I think. A rotating selection of 3 Sussex beers and ciders and local wines as well. Convivial atmosphere hosted by Nigel and Debbie the landlords. Food can be delivered from the Cafe next door!
G. C.
Had a few pints in this fabulous little bar last year before a Half Man Half Biscuit gig in town. The landlady, although busy and rushed off her feet, was charming and very welcoming, as were our fellow drinkers. Only downside is it's about 50 miles from home. Will definitely return soon.
S. E.
Cracking micro pub. Three very well kept beers available on my visit, all at a decent price.
Friendly staff and locals. A 'proper' micro pub.
C. O.
Great place for us ale and cider lovers .nice people super place 🍺👍
J. E.
Always a good beer and the landlord is friendly
S. P.
This is nearly the smallest pub i have ever been in...almost! It is tiny a one roomed pub without a bar but has a back wall stuffed with books, magazines and other parathenalia!. You go in (i missed it walked past and had to double take) the landlord greets you and you order. The drink is brought to you from the back room then you enjoy!. How simple is that!
What makes AinW so great is that the beer and cider choice is excellent and in good quality where you can not avoid partaking in conversation with the other drinkers. However, the stars here are the landlord/landlady who exude an enthusiasm for their pub and what they do it is infectious. Such lovely people. Folk of Worthing you are lucky to have such a gem of a micropub in your town.
C. E.
Called in last week while on holiday at the South Coast. I tend to only drink in micro pubs ( my usual is the Kings Ditch in Tamworth). The Anchored and Nigel came well up to expectations. If you are in the area and like GOOD ale, call in you will not be disappointed.
P. P.
Nigel was on good form with the real ales excellent.
A. B.
Really good choice of Sussex real ales. Traditional warm welcome from the landlord. Sunday's cheese board is scrumptious and the pub is well worth a visit
M. L.
Great little micro pub. Locals and staff very friendly and welcoming. Only one toilet to share. The real ale is very good quality along with traditional cider.
O. H.
Brilliant and authentic. Nigel has set up a rare gem here in the form of a homely little micro pub with 3 local beers from the barrel, local cider and wines. It's amazing and a must see.
C. T.
Wonderful micropub! True to its name. I'll be back there asap.
E. G.
I rarely write reviews, but feel compelled to here. I stumbled across this place with two friends - we'd intended to go to a pub around the corner but the football was on and there was no chance of catching up and having a chat. So, we wandered around and happened upon this place. It was busy and we poked our heads inside and said, 'a bit busy, we'll try somewhere else' and then the strangest thing happened. Everyone inside said 'come in!' and they rearranged themselves so we could have a table. I have never been to a pub where the occupants actually encourage me to come in - it was really friendly, the owners (I assume they were the owners) were brilliant, giving one of my friends a sample of a beer the was interested in. On this experience I will definitely be going back many times - it will be my local away from home. And I don't even drink.
R. B.
Quaint, social, fun. Don't go here if you want to get drunk, this is a place to sit down, have a few pints, have a chat and maybe make some new friends. There are around 3 ales, a cider and a perry, constantly available, and these rotate (and are always local) so you may never drink the same thing twice, but that's half the fun!
G. T.
