Lovely pub, suitable for eating or just a drink. Outside seating. Parking. Friendly staff, and Theakstons Best (best beer on the planet). Pizzas are superb!

The Black Horse staff and locals are very friendly.
Nothing is too much trouble.

Called into this lovely pub after visiting a couple of villages looking for somewhere to eat. The landlord and staff were very friendly, as were the locals who welcomed us with local conversation and history.
Nice pint of keg ale and a couple of tasty meals at a decent value.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon at the Black Horse.

Small & dated, book table to avoid disappointment, good menu, we had a drink but no table available for food, yet a lovely second front room not being used, pity as this pub has so much potential, under new management we believe so

Dropped by after a nice country walk, staff were very friendly and a good range of drinks. The kitchen was being upgraded so couldn't sample food, but there is good choice of outdoor seating and a games room! Also dog friendly hurray!

The food was really great, the portion sizes are generous for the Sunday lunches we ordered, they happily accommodated our fussy eaters too despite the kids menu being off while lunch was served, which saved us a huge headache. The play area was great, service was excellent, I ordered a drink for our youngest and went to the loo whilst my order was sorted, when I returned they'd already taken it out to him at the top of the beer garden. Lots of kids (mostly ours) played football in the small goal, which again was great as it kept them entertained for an hour. The only remotely negative bit was our daughter's giant pink tennis ball went missing, which meant I had to walk half a mile with a sulking 9yr old on my shoulders...

Lovely friendly village pub. Went for Sunday lunch with family. Dining area was comfortable and bright. For Sunday lunch there was a choice of three meats. We all chose beef. The meals appeared freshly cooked and were served on hot plates. A generous portion of meat served with a large homemade Yorkshire pudding. Leeks and both mashed and roast potatoes served on the plate with a side order of gravey and separate dish of red cabbage, carrot and swede mash and broccoli. More than enough to go round a table of 5. Friendly and attentive staff. Only our daughter had room for dessert - ice cream sundae which looked divine. I forgot to take a photo of our main course, we were too eager to tuck in! Highly recommended and will visit again.

We have been to this pub on many many occasions and always had fantastic service with fantastic real ales. The staff are so helpful and friendly and it is always a place we love to go to when we are caravanning in the area at several different caravan sites such as South Carolina farm and red house estate. We went here on the 14th of May 2022 at 3 pm, however sadly the pub was closed which was a big shame. There was no notice on either the back door or the front door to tell us of the opening times to enable us to come back a little bit later therefore sadly we had to choose another pub. We will definitely come here again if they are still open.

it changes hands quite a lot so this review might not be accurate in 1-2 years or so but we had food and it was just okay. not bad by any means but for the price, i don't think it was worth it.
that being said, its a local pub so they probably have the prices that high to sustain themselves so i dont blame them.
nice friendly staff and a comforting atmosphere though!
