Reviews of The Ackhorne

Hidden away a bit, a nice old pub, built in the 1700's apparently. Good selection of beers, five or six cask choices. Just off Micklegate. And a short walk to two music venues, The Crescent (5 minutes) or The Barbican (slightly further).

A hidden gem tucked away in the side streets of York.
Lovely staff, olde billiards, quirky but lovely little outside area with cosy individual heated seating areas room for plenty and more.
Reasonable prices and selection of food and drink.

Excellent Pub off the main tourist drag. Good Real Ale. Goal mouth action in the Gents.

We were there in April - visiting from Australia. Great classic hidden pub, with great beers and atmosphere. Good to see it was dog friendly as well. Very homely place. I recommend you check it out.

Definitely worth a visit! Very friendly and familiar pub and a lot of good beer to choose from. We played bar billiards which is a great game, and even when I broke the cue the bar staff were still very friendly …

Excellent range of well-kept hand-pulled beers to suit all tastes. Traditional back street ale house with a lot of character, and characters. Friendly staff.

Great pub and friendly staff.
Would recommend.
Oh and my hubby said the beer was the best he had for a long time.

Great place. Proper pub out of the way of the normal York bustle with a decent enough selection of drinks

A must visit friendly pub. Despite us turning up rather intoxicated and it being a busy Saturday the landlord let us uncover the bar billiards table and took the time to teach us how to play. Super friendly staff, warm and welcoming atmosphere, great drinks on tap. Absolutely recommended.
