Love it here, the atmosphere is relaxing, coffee and beer all day. They serve a great selection of drinks including their own York-made beer, Ice Cream Factory, which is really good. Their espresso martini is fantastic and a real treat!

This is one of my local go-to bar/cafés. The drinks menu is extensive and all the food served is really tasty- the brownies served beside the bar are particularly nice. The staff are always happy to help and cheerful, even if it's busy. They also allow dogs in here, which is a massive bonus! The Fossgate Social has 2 floors and a pretty garden area out back, with lots of chairs and cosy corners throughout. However, it's not an enormous bar and it can get quite busy- so I recommend visiting on an afternoon or a weekday evening. Drinkwise, I recommend their amaretto sours, as they're divine!

Apparently there is a measure that is in between a half and a pint why is this a thing it's not real how do you order a beer Also had to ask if I was inside or outside as you couldn't tell as it wasn't raining Fossgate is now super trendy so don't forget to sport a big bushy beard and a solid lump of hair on your head so you can mingle with other bell end types and pretentious students Also look out the award winning architecture

A friend and I have become regulars and visit midweek for hot chocolate. Last week they ran out of oat milk and a member of staff very kindly went out and got some for us! Awesome to support a small business that goes the extra mile for their customers :) it's really cosy, always quite busy (in a good way) and overall a great atmosphere for socialising

Drinks here are unique and tasty. Cocktails are a little expensive (around £8 a piece) but nothing much different from other places in York such as Evil Eye. They have a good range of interesting craft beers and they make a mean White Russian! Staff are super friendly and helpful. The atmosphere here is something else, just being there made us feel really cool, it's very 'hip' as someone from the 60s might say 😂 Didn't get a chance to try the coffee as it was late in the afternoon when we arrived, but we'll be going back just for the coffee as it smells incredible!

Nice little cafe off the main streets, good selection of coffee, teas, beers, wine and cocktails. I didn't eat here but what I saw being served looked lovely. I couldn't see any vegan food so I'd check this out before you go...if you're vegan that is.

They have also good cakes, I can recommend the brownie or the lemon sponge, really good. The only minus are the smokers in the back garden, besides that no faults. One of the best small coffeeshops in York 😀

Great little coffee spot, and a nice casual spot for beer & wine. Seating is surprisingly ample in a relatively small spot due to upstairs seating and a patio area. I enjoyed the flat white I got there, and stayed longer enough for a glass of beer. Pretty versatle spot for a date. Can get crowded on the weekend though.

I've just moved to York I've been here 4 weeks now and Ive been to the Fossgate Social every week and loved it, I had never heard of a Yorkshire Fog before but now it's my favourite drink. The barristers are amazing with great customer service, a real lovely place to go on my Wednesday off.

I visit the fossegate social regularly for both coffee and evening drinks and I'm always met with friendly service and great quality food and drink (the brownies are to die for!) I recently attended an open mic hosted here and it was a perfect venue for an intimate and cozy experience. Love the decor and local art displayed here too!

Five stars seems to be a really common thing on most reviews, but I've been going to the Fossgate Social for over a year and although I hadn't been for a while I headed back for a reminder of the truly great atmosphere. I give it five stars because sometimes you just want to be in the right environment to read a book and gaze at everchanging art. Also, they have a vegan chocolate cake, which is like a +10 to atmosphere.
