Got hungry and it's a nice surprised to have found this place. Love the library part at the back of the restaurant. It was very private and homely. The beef lasagna was really nice and juicy. Nice selection of beers.

Another wonderful pub in York. The wife and I were visiting from Tucson, Az. We stopped in for a quick pint and to rest the feet from a day of sight seeing. Ended up sitting next to a wonderful elderly couple who shared some drinks and great conversation with a couple of Yanks who love York and to find out that we have accents.

Lovely traditional pub...which is great...even has a library area which is fab . Staff friendly , cheerful . We had a Sunday Roast...very nice indeed . Lager chilled to perfection . Will definitely be calling in on our next visit to York. Great visit .

The Golden slipper is an extremely Cosy traditional pub, still with it's original wooden beams and floors, with a variety of drinks including guest and craft cask ales aswell as serving home made hearty pub food Monday to sunday.

Owned by a lovley couple, very pleasant, lovley little secret garden to the back , even has its own library if you fancy a read, the food is yummy, I recommend the steak and ale pie, they even have live music which is fantastic.

Lovely pub but very rude staff. The barman wandered off the moment I took time to order, and I was later told that if I wasn't drinking I needed to leave - whilst still having beer in the glass! Given the breadth of awesome pubs in York, treat yourself to something better 😉

Nice quiet place to grab a pint outside the hustle of the centre. The barman is fairly blunt but it means you get your pint quicker so there's that I guess...

Came in on 24th July with party of 6. Great juke box and choice of beers but one thing we noticed was the male members off staff where sooooo miserable and unfriendly. There was a young lady who was on duty called Emily who was fantastic, she was friendly helpful and made our visit a pleasant one. Keep up the great work Emily..it was a pleasure to meet you and hope you are still here on out next visit. 👌

Let's start with the important stuff, the beer here is very good. Whenever I'm in York I try to pop in for a drink and have done for the past 30 years. Other important points - comfortable place and staff over the years have been friendly. Coming back to York soon so let's get out of this lockdown safely and get back to some relaxed boozing.

What a fab little pub. Very welcoming and cosy feel to the place. The kids were welcome as long as not at the bar which is fine with me. All the customers were in a great chatty mood.

One of York's gems. Old fashioned in style but this adds to its character, a chance to enjoy one of its many different beers without having to listen to piped background music. The food here is good - well worth a visit you won't be disappointed.

It is what it is, it's a proper old school pub. Playing good music in the background and had the telly going. With a bar full of blokes all nursing various lagers and bitters. Sells grub too. It's not posh or trendy but it's how a pub should be in my eyes. These bars that sell 300ml Spanish beer at £5 a bottle have their place with the in-crowd/guys that wear slip ons with no socks and skinny jeans. if you rather a conversation, a packet of scratchings and a good pint then this is the place for you. There are plenty of other expensive trendy bars in York to cater for you if that's more your scene.

Sweet little bar. The staff were very friendly and there was a cosy area called the library, where you could sit and read if you wanted. There's a small courtyard at the back, a big TV with football playing and seating for dinners. I was with a group of 7 and everyone was catered for with beer, soft drinks and tea.

Very quirky, higgelty piggelty pub. Sloping floors, beams and like walking back in time. I love spending time here. Knowledgable bar staff. Good selection of craft beers available. Relaxed, cosy atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!
