Reviews of The Maltings
Beautiful, old-fashioned pub crammed full of nostalgic memorabilia. The real ale selection is extensive and well-kept, plus there's a good range of ciders. Food portions are generous.
Called on a midweek lunchtime we arrived late at 1-45 and we were told of the 15 minute warning, food stopped at 2pm. Orders were taken for the 6 of us and dealt with prompt and served with a smile. Good selection of beers altogether a good lunch. It was quiet when we arrived but would imagine it would have been busy earlier.
Exceptional quality and value. Food is simply delicious, fresh and tasty. What more do you want. Staff friendly, lovely place. Top banana.
We went on a Monday and saw Chris Johnson the accoustic guitarist & singer playing live music, who was excellent. Well worth it. We would happily see him again it was so good. Great beers and ciders on tap, 'camra' style.
Good pub near the train station, at the time had a good selection of real ales on. Nice friendly staff.
This isn't our first visit..or our first review of this amazing pub.
You know when you find a place that knows its customer base....knows and cares for its bar drinks, and the food..clearly homemade everything and very generous portions for really reasonable prices ? Well, if you are looking for all of that in one place...you won't be disappointed by visiting The Maltings. We have heartily recommended it to lots of our friends visiting York as there are many places to choose to eat and drink in York..but in our opinion...no competition for a decent pint, a friendly welcome and a bellyful of good food.
Big, rather ugly, black exterior. Inside it's an excellent pub, clearly a big CAMRA place with a wide range of interesting beers & ciders on offer. Simple meals are also provided. Very pleasant management and staff. This pub is very well recommended to the discerning ale drinker.
Lovely atmosphere and great food. Huge servings of food excellent prices
Nice oldy worldy pub to go to down by the river 😀 .
