Very old fashioned kind of pub.Had some good lagers on. Punters were very friendly. Been york 6 times in last year but this was our first visit to the cranes but we'll be back

Only real pub left in york city centre, if you're woke, politicly correct or want to spend over £5 for a drink its not the place for you. Its like going back in time and we bloomin loved it.

Nice pub with a guest ale and 2 regular beers. Tabke service outside but drinks will be served in plastic glasses. Staff was friendly when I visited.

Six of us girls went to this pub on Friday night. Fabulous night with 60s music. The place was heaving and it is very popular. Plenty of barstaff so no hanging round waiting to be served. Not a glam pub but it was clean and friendly. Well worth a visit if you're in York and you're guaranteed a good night. Reasonably priced drinks.

The atmosphere was absolute electric. Everyone singing along to the music and the more daring of us dancing. The bar staff were so on the ball, nobody waited more than 2 or 3 minutes to be served. Definitely going back again and again. 🍺

Very cheap with three pints coming to just £6! Not even Carlsberg either. Was very shocked but pleasantly so. After an evening of £5 pints, I had definitely been in the wrong bars. Definitely a locals bar with the usual suspects propping up the bar. All seemed in great spirits laughing away and even making conversation with us. Felt very comfortable and glad we went in. They don't take card so make sure you have cash though you won't feel like you've been robbed either. Will definitely be back and wouldn't be surprised if it's very busy at peak times.

Often very busy but always a party! This pub is unique in its relaxed, sing a long to the music atmosphere, and everyone always seems to be having a great time. Not really somewhere to bring the kids but a good place for the adults to have a bit of a knees up!

We love this proper pub. Nearly everytime we're in York we pop in for a couple but to be honest it's been a while since we've been to York. We were very pleased to see that although the toilets had been spruced up and the rest of the pub freshener up it remains a proper pub with what has got to be the best pint of John Smith's I've had this year.

Such lovely customers, great vibe and just what you want after visiting some more pricey and pretentious drinking establishments. Real ale too.... Knocked a star off because although the bathroom had what you need and was clean there was no loo roll

Really liked this inn . It has a really friendly feeling to it . It's staff are welcoming and friendly . It has a good choice of drinks from alcoholic to soft drinks. When we were in there were a couple of men enjoying a few pints while their wives were doing some Christmas shopping at the York Christmas market.

Always a great place for A Singsong, its a locals place but you find tourists visiting do return year after year. It's having a refurbishment at moment long awaited for new toilets but don't let that put you off. Great Atmosphere.

This is an old fashioned traditional pub the drinks are cheaper than some pubs and its friendly and welcoming. Not the friendliest pub I've ever been in the music was considerably loud and due to the fact there was only two of us in the room. I found it somewhat unable they said they were unable to do hot water because of health and safety reasons. Odd little pub which seems to be stuck in a 1970s time warp. Clientele mainly 50+ and the piped music is classic 50s and 60s rock and roll. Generally a nice place with little bother but gets very full Saturday night.
