Lovely village pub. One room serving top quality food the other is a proper tap room. Great pint of Copper Dragon best bitter. I'll have to bring a driver on my next visit, 1 pint is not enough when you fancy a session. Staff are super attentive.

Had a lovely walk to this place with my girls from a local campsite and it was so worthy of a good review. Every member of staff was friendly and attentive. The menu was brilliant in the choices it offered and very reasonably priced. There is also a lovely children's menu. They sell a plethora of gin which made me very happy! I recommend making a visit and I am sure the staff will go the extra mile for you as their customers. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

We stopped off for dinner and the welcoming host found us a table immediately. The drinks arrived quickly then our order was taken. No sitting around waiting to be noticed like in other pubs we visited. The food arrived beautifully presented and delicious. The tempura prawns are fantastic. I had the Cajun chicken strips were great as was my partner's steak. Great place with great food.

What a brilliant find! A lovely cottage, clean, spacious, comfortable. Everything you need in the kitchen, cooker, microwave, dishwasher. Free parking right outside. Very wheelchair friendly, slight lip at front door easily negotiated. Walk-in shower. Lovely food in their pub next door. Very quiet at night. Great base to explore the area, 20 mins drive to York.

We had a superb meal here with our children. Atmosphere was lovely. Food was genuinely excellent. We both had something from the specials menu. I had pork medallions with a stilton and apple sauce topped with black pudding. So good. Cooked beautifully. Husband had rabbit and bacon shortcrust pie. Also excellent. Delicious desserts to finish. Staff were friendly and helpful and made the whole experience very enjoyable. Highly recommend going here. The place was packed.

Visited this place twice during a week's break. Both meals and local drinks were delicious. The rabbit and black pudding pie was something I will be craving for many years to come. Excellent Yorkshire puds on the Sunday roast. Beef a little over cooked but everything together it was a real treat to have been here.

Ate here on Mothering Sunday. The pub was PACKED, but service was speedy, efficient and friendly. At the most delicious roast topside of beef, with perfectly cooked vegetables and a tender, stonking Yorkshire pudding. Gravy was sumptuous. Friend at the roast pork, and she said the same. Dessert was MEMORABLE, being plum and pear crumble with REAL custard. Could not fault it in any way whatsoever. Can't wait to go back!

We were looking for a local pub meal with interesting vegetarian food and decided to try this one after reading all the outstanding reviews. Happy to say that we were not disappointed, but delighted with our meals ( mushroom stroganoff, fish and chips ) and drinks ( absolutely gorgeous Marlborough Sounds Sauvignon blanc, creamy White Bear Ale ), and he had a pud...all very reasonably priced, lovely atmosphere in the pub section, very friendly service...all in all a very pleasant experience for us. Recommended highly!

The White Bear provided sandwiches, chips etc for our half way break during a 25 mile charity walk - the food was great and the chips were awesome they even provided free teas and coffees. Very ordinary pub. The décor leads you to think it wants to be called something equestrian. On the plus side they were happy to prepare a vegan dish, on the downside it was very ordinary. The car park was impossible to find.

This is a fantastic pub with a good choice of beers and great food. I love the Sunday lunch choice, which is changed weekly. The bar area is dog friendly and my dog Oscar is always given a great welcome by the staff. I would recommend this pub but also recommend that you ring up to book.
