We have used House & Sons for both letting and selling a property and our experience has been very favourable. The team work well together, and cover for each other when a person is unavailable. They have also provided valuable guidance as to our options about how best to structure our property as an investment. In particular, they have links with a number of tradespeople whose quality is a proven track record that has been very useful when things go wrong with a property. Overall, they have been very professional and supportive over what is sometimes a stressful time.

I have dealt with House and Son as a tenant in 2014 and as a First time buyer in 2022. I have always had a positive experience with House and Son. The team is honest and professional. My home buying experience was made easy with the help of Douglas Gates and Sharon Gould. As first time buyers we had PLENTY of questions, and the team were always happy to answer where they can or direct us in the right direction if outside of their scope. The sale process took approximately 6 months as the property we bought was in a forward chain. Douglas has always kept us informed of the progress of property hunt of the previous owners. The team even went above and beyond and recommend electrical contactors who I eventually used and turned out very professional too. I have always been pleased with House and Son quality of service and would highly recommend them.

If you are looking to sell a property, House & Son are absolutely outstanding estate agents and we cannot recommend them highly enough! We had the great fortune of being personally recommended to contact the excellent Sharon Gould at House & Son by someone who, at that time, had recently used her to sell his home. He was very familiar with several estate agents in the area, yet specifically recommended House & Son. We now fully understand why he did so and would ourselves recommend anyone who needs an estate agent to contact them. We have been dealing with them for the past 11 months or so in relation to the sale of a property in Poole, which completed recently. Sharon Gould – with the assistance of the very professional Doug Gates – has been utterly amazing throughout. We have rarely come across anyone as committed, efficient, helpful and friendly. This was not a particularly easy process for us, because the property had been rented for in the region of 75 years and we had little personal knowledge of the property. It was also a disadvantage that we currently live abroad and also do not have much knowledge of the Poole/Bournemouth area. Those factors combined could have made this an extraordinarily difficult process. However, Sharon's unfailing excellence in assisting us with everything to do with the sale made this whole process considerably easier than we could ever have imagined. Sharon's efficiency was something to behold. Within only a matter of days after we had first discussed putting the property on the market and at what price, Sharon had already visited, taken photographs, put together a brochure and placed the property up for sale on the Internet. Because of our lack of knowledge of the property, and our lack of presence, Sharon also very kindly inspected the property, helped us with things such as gas, water and electricity supplies and readings and dealing with everything in connection with the sale. The property also unfortunately needed to be re-marketed when the previous potential purchaser pulled out. Sharon's helpfulness, efficiency and enthusiasm to push forward with the second sale was nevertheless just as impressive as with the first. She demonstrated her outstanding qualities in that process too. She was also able to give very practical advice in relation to which offer we should accept and why. Selling a house was not something that we had done before and this was invaluable to us. Yet it was not simply the assistance that Sharon gave to us that was so impressive. She also followed up – in her incredibly efficient way – with other parties connected with the sale to enable this to go through. She liaised not only between us and the purchaser, but also with all those connected with the purchaser who needed to act so as to ensure that our sale could take place. For example, when it came to the second purchaser, they needed to sell their flat before they could complete on our house. Sharon seemed to be chasing everyone connected with that other sale as well, just to ensure that that could go through smoothly so that our own home could be sold! The manner in which Sharon kept us fully informed of every step in the process was also incredibly impressive. The telephone conversations that we had with her at various stages were also really helpful – with my wife emphasising how comforting it was to hear Sharon uttering the words "Leave it with me" on several occasions, which meant that we were able to relax about the next steps. And every time that we did so, everything worked out really well! In short, we cannot emphasise enough that our experience with House & Son was absolutely outstanding. We recommend House & Son extremely highly and without hesitation to anyone in need of an estate agent that offers the very highest professional standards and overall excellence.

I was looking for a property to purchase in Bournemouth, being based in Kent I knew this would be challenging. I found a couple of properties on Right Move that House & Son listed. I arranged a number of viewings with House and other agents on a weekend in February 2020 (pre-COVID-19). Doug from House & Sons was our first viewing of the day and was really helpful. There was no hard sell and Doug helped us with the info I needed on the local area, potential future value and rental incomes. This is exactly what I wanted. As it happened, the first property seen was the one I selected. I put in an offer that was accepted by the vendor then lockdown started. Doug and Sharon were SO helpful through the numerous delays I experienced on my side with finance arrangements and down valuations on my other property. We had 3 Estate Agents value our house and whilst they were all reputable agents we choose House and Son because they came across as more professional, more optimistic and with more energy than the others. The valuation matched our own expectations and the brochure/photographs were excellent. At all levels we found the staff polite, helpful and truly committed to our sale. They are working for you, the seller and not the buyer, they vet people so that only the serious get to view your property, they check closely those who wish to make an offer to ensure they have the resources to do so, and they will check with their agents to make sure their position is as they say. Our sale (STJ) took just 3 weeks, but it then took us over 3 months to find ourselves a suitable property to buy. During this period they kept the momentum going and kept everyone in the chain informed. Despite several setbacks, they were working for us at every turn, gave invaluable help on a surveyor's report and without their drive and determination I don't think our sale would have come to fruition on this occasion. I want to thoroughly recommend House & Sons in Winton to everyone reading this review!! It’s worth noting that I don’t normally leave such reviews on companies like this but I’m so impressed that I feel I needed too for this one!! I have bought 5 houses in my time in the area of Bournemouth & Poole of which two were from House & Son’s – Winton. I thought they were extremely good the first time (maybe a fluke?) but after the second has just successfully gone though I can say with great confidence that they are by far the best estate agent I have ever experienced!! In fact, it raised the question how all the others are so bad? Surely it’s not that hard?? What made them so good? Well, it’s simple; I enquired to a property on RightMove (as you do), explained what I wanted and what my budget was (like you do) and after a couple of interesting viewings they really seemed to understand what I was looking for. Within a few days I was offered a bit of a ‘wildcard’ property. It was slightly over my original budget, but after they insisted I should go see it and make an offer, it turned out they were right as I loved it and bought it that week! What gets my attention here was how they seemed to truly understand what I was looking for. It felt very easy to work with them. This was just the beginning. Once we had agreed the sale, unlike other estate agents who loose all interest in you, they continued to work closely with me in the transaction. You might be thinking that sounds simple and what all estate agents do….. right? Nope! Normally I think it’s a numbers game; I get shown enough properties and one of them I am bound to like. The problem with that approach is it just pisses me off and confirms that all the conversations about requirements, location and budget were simply a waste of my time and money! With House & Son’s I felt they were working for me as a client as well as their own sellers needs – a balance that I think no other estate agent has yet shown me that they can get right. Totally recommended from this happy client!
