Buying any property is a roller coaster of a ride. Winkworth Westbourne made the process less painful in our purchase of the flat. They helped support the communication with the seller. Things often break down when the seller's solicitor and the buyer's solicitor are going at a very slow speed and not communicating with each other. Winkworth directly contacted the seller for our questions and then explained the current situation of the purchase to us as buyers. A good efficient team. Even if the purchase of the property had fallen through, I would still use their services. If we ever sell our flat we will give them a call.

I used Winkworth lettings to manage renting out my property for me whilst I was abroad for a few months and, on the whole, they were pretty good. They managed to find a tenant for my property very quickly and made the set-up of the tenancy agreement etc. a breeze. And they were very helpful at the end of the tenancy, which wasn’t straightforward due to having to claim costs for damage from the tenant’s deposit. Katy, the lettings manager, in particular should be commended for her knowledge and efficiency throughout the process – we got the right result in the end and I’m certain this wouldn’t have happened without her help. Unfortunately, there were a couple of occasions where emails weren’t followed up and they had to be reminded to forward on a rent payment to me one month – hence I can only give them four stars. But in general, a positive experience, and I would likely use their lettings services again.

Puirplebricks or Winkworth We decided to use Purplebricks as our reasoning went ,everyone just uses rightmove and the flat will sell itself. WRONG You will be sold the package with the wonderful positive promises of it being the way forward with it's interactive support etc,you will tend not to get much push back re your expectations as the upfront fee when paid is already in the bank so after time with no result, your expectations and a more rational analysis of the market etc can be presented to you with your fee already secured. My assessment in today's difficult market is that this model for us was a complete waste of money with no interest shown,and just the odd pep talk from our Purple bricks rep to keep our chin up. We then swallowed the fact that our fee to this company was wasted money and moved on to Winkworth a high st agent,who appeared to have a much more rational view of the market,and had more streams of marketing that produced far more viewings and a subsequent sale in good time. Moral of story...When properties are selling themselves by just appearing on rightmove then this and the many other internet sites may be the way forward, otherwise you get what you pay for. (I have no axe to grind or relative / friend working in this field I just hope this helps others avoid some of my frustrations during this process)
