Emma, Allyson, and the rest of the team at Ben Charles are exemplary estate agents. I bought a property through them several years ago, and their mortgage advisor took care of my mortgage. I was so happy with the service they provided that, when I later came to sell the property, they were the only estate agents that I would even consider using. On both occasions, they were absolutely outstanding. They performed all their tasks very quickly and efficiently, responded to emails instantly, offered loads of useful advice about both buying and selling property, and gave detailed feedback on every viewing when the property was up for sale. During the sale, when the conveyancing firm I was using encountered IT problems which threatened to derail the process, they went above and beyond the call of duty in helping deal with the issue (which of course was no fault of theirs) and were instrumental in getting the sale completed on time. I was out of the country at the time, too, so knowing that the sale was in the hands of such competent agents was especially important. All their staff are extremely friendly and pleasant to deal with. Above all, they are highly compassionate. They care about people, they know how stressful buying and selling property can be, and they do everything they possibly can to help the process along and give the client peace of mind. Undoubtedly the best estate agents in Durham. I really cannot recommend them enough, and if I need a property in Durham in future, I certainly won’t be going anywhere else!

This is the second time I have rented through Ben Charles Estate Agents. My first time was for 5 years and throughout the whole time the entire staff were friendly, helpful, understanding and patient. I used to look forward to my 8 week checks with the staff that visited my property, they were so nice to talk with and nothing was a problem. When you call the office there is always a happy voice answers, be it Ben himself or one of his staff, you can always hear the ‘smile’ in their voices 😀. They have once again rented me a perfect flat in a perfect street, right next to my daughter. This is a real help for me as I’m disabled and often need her help. I can't speak highly enough of Ben Charles. I have let with them for the last four years and they have been a pleasure to work with. From my first contact with Ben when he came to look round my property to my regular dealings with Nigel, Gill and Allyson in the office, everyone has been friendly and super helpful. Their proactive management has removed the administrative burden of dealing with short term tenants. I also used Ben Charles recently to sell my house and have been even more impressed. They listened to my requirements and kept me updated at all times. I was most impressed with the ‘added value’ that they provided, Emma went the extra mile to ensure the transaction was completed in a timely manner. For example, the buyers didn’t fully understand the process involved when purchasing a home. Emma talked them through the process and then checked on the progress once a week to ensure no delays, physically assisting both parties in the sale and getting us to legal completion in a timely fashion.

What's not to like? Excellent professional and friendly service provided by the whole Ben Charles team. We purchased a flat through Ben Charles eight years ago which was a very smooth stress free process managed by Emma with Rachael and Ben providing excellent financial services. Nigel, Gill and Alison on the letting side have efficiently found tenants for our properties on a number of occasions each time the process has been smooth and slick. Rachael has arranged Mortgages and renewed mortgage deals and arranged house insurance many times to our complete delight. They also make great coffee. We have been able to hire Ben Charles' services for 3 times now and we are still so impressed by their service. First of all, everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. Secondly, they have competitive pricing, Thirdly, you are not just a number at their office; over the years we have gotten to know the staff personally and they always make time for you. Fourthly, the are extremely professional and hands-on. Never do you have to chase them up, as they are very 'on the ball' and give you regular updates. Personally, I know we have not been easy clients: we have high standards, are consciences and like to keep control, however never have we been made to feel that this was too much.
