It’s confusing and finding an agent that respects you more than takes advantage I found was going to be difficult! Jessica Frank was and has been such an absolute fighter for me and my needs in this chaotic Lettings world! She was honest, genuine, sincere and a deadset legend! I’ll write a long story short... Getting an apartment in London isn’t easy. I found a place, a wonderful place. I went through weeks & weeks of offers, reference checks, guarantor approval, holding fees, deposits, several contracts because the landlord was seemingly never happy... but everything was sorted and signed (or so I thought). I passed all necessary checks with “flying colours” and was all set to move in Friday morning; my mattress was being delivered at 11am. Jess called me, sounding already quite devastated and uncomfortable. I was in a taxi filled to the brim with all my stuff, and en route to the apartment, when I received this phone call that the landlord had decided, in the very last moments, to not go ahead with the tenancy. He left no reason, and I’m told was quite short and rude with the agents. I thought everything was signed and done. Here I am, on my way to the apartment, stuff being delivered throughout the day - and I now had nowhere to live. Now look, I know this isn’t such a horrible situation, I know I’m super privileged that this whole circumstance is not forced on me, or leaving me actually homeless. I get it. But what an emotional roller coaster!!!!! Jess and the other agents at Dexters Notting Hill, we’re sympathetic, kind, and did everything they could to right this wrong, to the best of their abilities, and even offering up their own couch for a night if I needed it. It’s now 3 days later and Jess has found me a beautiful, newly painted apartment, perfectly filling my requirements with a polite and kind landlord and I’m now on my way to moving in!!!
