Andrews have been good. I’ve used them to sell a flat & buy & sell my latest house. I think I gave the game away a bit by mentioning this so didn’t get the best rate for my latest sale but that was a lesson learnt. They were always pretty open & honest with their interactions. Not as much nonsense as you get with other estate agents. I was a little disappointed that I was moved from one agent to another during the process but I think they generally employ pretty competent staff so we were in safe hands. I had to do a fair bit of chasing but I think it was strange times with the amount of houses on the market at the same time. I also think it is good that they noticed this & employed specific people to do sales progressions. Ours was great!

Today, we completed our renovation for 47 Donnington Bridge Road. We would like to tell you the story of how we purchased this property. We started this purchase in early March, 2021 with the hope that we could complete it before 30 June, 2021. We were introduced to Knights Solicitor PLC by Chancellor because we have been Chancellor’s customer for many years. We had the deposit and the time length of four months should have been more than enough to buy a no chain property with sound construction. Knights PLC quickly sent us a quote and said they would meet the 30 June 2021 deadline for stamp duty. We signed a contract with them based on this. Once we provided our signature, our nightmare started. We did not hear anything from the solicitor even after their search had been completed on 30 April, 2021. The solicitor told us the reason that they did not do anything was because they had to wait for our mortgage. We have experience in the property business for 15 years which was shown in their records. We have more than enough for the deposit and there would be no reason for concerns about a mortgage for our company. We tried to call them, to email them, to text them and even to complain. There was no progress. In the last one and half weeks of June, my vendors started to become anxious and angry because their solicitor did not receive a response from our solicitor. We were thinking to take legal action against Knights PLC but even if we did, it was unlikely to change anything as the deadline was too close. We really did not know what to do so we come to talk to Andrews agent where we found this property. Immediately, the head of Andrews in Cowley, Mr. Rashid and his staff (Ms. Slee) contacted the vendor. The vendor was too upset by the way that my solicitor handled the case. Mr. Rashid then officially informed Knights Solicitor PLC that the vendor of 47 Donnington Bridge was prepared to withdraw the sale meanwhile Ms. Slee tried to convince the vendors to stay on sale. The pressure we put together seemed to be effective. The Knights Solicitor PLC only started their job when there were only 7 days left until the 30 June deadline. We missed the deadline of course but if we did not receive the kind support from Mr. Rashid and Ms. Slee, we don’t know when our purchase may have finished with this kind of solicitor. It has been a nightmare for a professional property business man like myself to work with Knights Solicitor PLC. I would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to Mr. Rashid and Ms. Slee from Andrews Estate Agent in Cowley, Oxford. I am sure that we will come back to them for another property.
