Having negotiated a recent property purchase, through Chancellors in Summertown under the expert guidance of David Ingram, permit me to offer a few comments. Firstly, David’s smart, professional appearance generated confidence. We knew immediately that we were in good hands – a view vindicated by subsequent events. Evidently David is a man of great experience. He possesses excellent product knowledge and our various questions about the property received cogent, relevant and full answers – many concerning technical matters about how the property was managed. David also showed great attention to detail. He had fully taken on board the brief concerning the buyer’s needs, and all the relevant aspects of the property were nicely highlighted during our two viewings. Furthermore, David should be noted for his sheer efficiency. Within minutes of my phoning to make an offer, he was calling me back having contacted the sellers. Thus an agreed purchased price was reached in what must be a record time! Ping! – and the Memorandum of Sale arrived by email. This was good news. Throughout all stages of the buying process, David’s attitude was positive about both buyer and seller. Clearly if you are dealing in property Chancellor’s is the place and David Ingram your first port of call there. An excellent showing all round; we could not have received better service. Thank you. Searching for a property - Good (4 stars) Application Management - Good (4 stars) Check In - Good (4 stars) Property Management - Bad (2 stars); Unresponsive, refused to fix minor/major issues Check Out - Okay (3 stars) Deposit Returning - Terrible (1 star); It took 1 month from check out to receiving a notice of deductions. The deductions were unreasonable, and when we challenged them we were ghosted and did not receive any replies. It is now 2 months after check out and Chancellors have held the entire deposit for this time, including the undisputed amount. This isn't paperwork, it's real money that could be a mortgage payment or several food shops, and the delay and lack of responsiveness is inexcusable. Overall - Okay (3 stars) Advice - Apply the same level of excellence you apply to sales to property management and check out management Update - Almost 3 months after moving out, we finally have our deposit back. The TDS adjudicator assessed that the amount Chancellors recommended as a deduction was almost double what was reasonable. Chancellors make their recommendations based on 'their experience', and don't seek quotes. I would advise anyone to challenge the deductions that Chancellors suggest. Unfortunately, this process takes at least 4 weeks and up to 8 when using the TDS, and most renters can't afford to be without their deposit for this long. Once again, the system is stacked against the individual and favours the landlord. I hope that Chancellors review their deduction recommendation process and are more open to a dialogue with tenants (before they leave a lukewarm review on google). Communication was sent repeatedly and not acknowledged.

From initial discussion to final letting Kyley provided sage, timely advice and direction with regards to the letting of my apartment. She proved adept at matching my expectations for the let with a strong marketing strategy. With such a well balanced approach it was no surprise that Kyley was able to source a suitable tenant in short order. Top job! I'm echoing most folks here, but Chancellors is the best place to come to if you're searching for a flat in Oxford. My husband and I were so lucky that Homayun was the one to help us out - he is absolutely fabulous! He is full of positive energy and really goes the extra mile to find his clients the right property and show them what it would be like to live there. He had a special challenge in us since we were trying to find a pet friendly rental - all other agencies told us it would be a "struggle" and that we should give up our pets. Within the first 10 minutes of us meeting, Homayun was adamant that he could find us the perfect place that was also pet friendly. And he did - the next day! Homayun even showed us around the neighborhood and gave us personal recommendations for restaurants. He also called us after work hours to deliver the good news.
