If you're looking for an open, honest and transparent estate agent, we cannot recommend Lee highly enough. We had our hearts set on a property marketed by Lee, but unfortunately, the sale of our property fell through during the buying process. Lee did everything in his power to help us and we cannot thank him enough for his support. Lee communicates exceptionally, is efficient and puts you as his customer at the heart of everything he does, he really cares. So if you're buying a home or selling through Lee, be assured you're in good hands.

We cannot speak highly enough about Lee. The sale of our property went beautifully, Lee found us the most wonderful and patient buyers and this would turn out to be more important that we could fathom. Our chain became long and complicated above us, without the constant chasing and investigation by Lee I doubt we'd have ever exchanged. He saw warning signs very early on and was able to prepare us. 6 months later and more emails and Lee finally got us over the line after what must have been hundreds of emails and calls to solicitors and agents alike. A friendly agent with exceptional customer service!!! We have bought a home in Woodley through Davis Tate in March 2021. It had a long chain of 5 houses but Lee has been wonderful and helped us manage the whole process without any stress. To start with, his recommendations of solicitors and surveyors were great. He is always available for any advice or support(replies instantly)! He's been very transparent during the whole process and the way he follows up/chases things is exceptional. We bought our dream home through Davis Tate and it's been an absolute pleasure to deal with Lee. He always kept us up to date with things further in the chain and we never had to chase/wait for anything. On the completion date, the only small disappointment was that we were at the end of the journey and would have to stop speaking to Lee who has become a friend in the process. If you are buying/selling a home and would like to avoid the stress, I would highly recommend working with Lee. We have been looked after and I am sure we wouldn't have got the home in such a short time, especially with such a long chain, if it was not for Lee's tenacity. We did have some complications during the process but Lee helped us during our every step. If we were to sell/buy a house again, I would just ring Lee straight away.

I definitely condone the other 5* reviews for Davis Tate Woodley (Dir: Lee Russell). Lee took on the sale of our home for us. We got 3 valuations & quotes from Agents and from the outset he was the best informed and most professional of the agents we met. I liked the fact that he personally handled the whole sale process from start to completion and the point of contact was always Lee, not someone in a larger team who "isn't in the office at the moment". Lee was always on hand and always sorted out any queries asap. I had previously used 2 other Reading based agents to sell my mum's house a couple of years ago, and the attention to detail that Lee applied to the task of selling our home easily outstripped our pervious experience with Estate Agents. Yes there are fees, and when the final bill comes in the fees can look significant, but the sale of our house could have ended up in confusion if Lee hadn't been on top of the whole chain. Having a professional agent chasing solicitors, smoothing out details, talking to our buyers, and their buyers, made a big difference that justified the fee. So Purple Bricks and other budget services will save you money, but if you want your sale to go ahead on time, which we did, and like the idea of dealing with one experienced agent who can troubleshoot any issues for you then I'd suggest contact Lee for an estimate and quote. Sorry if this review sounds a bit 'fake', I can assure that it isn't, we are just very pleased with how smoothly the whole process went from May 2019 (first listing) to August 2019 (completion) and I think Lee was essential to that. I can’t recommend lee in Davis Tate in Woodley highly enough. I’ve had experience of a number of local estate agents in the past few years - all were nice, but Lee Russell had something extra about him. I met him when he did 2 non-sale valuations for me, said he would lend me a book and it was with me the next day – he did what he said he was going to do with nothing to gain and I felt it told me something about him. Didn’t talk to him for another 18 months when we decided to sell our parent’s house. There was no “shoe-in” we evaluated Lee on the same basis as we did the other 4 agents and he got our business because I felt I could work with him during what was going to be a difficult time; • He is quite calm and measured, • He didn’t over-value the house initially to gain our business and was honest about what he thought it would achieve and actually achieved more in the end rather than dropping the price to sell, • His estimates on completion dates were correct, • He has an excellent network within the industry, • And experience enough to advise on a focussed and considered sales approach from his kit bag, rather than trying something to see if it worked Interestingly all the other agents tried to introduce the idea of Lee being independent & working alone as a weakness, suggesting we may not get an adequate level of attention. Conversely, Lee made us feel like we were his only customers, we always dealt directly with him and he seemed to be available to respond to queries at any time from early morning to late evening, 7 days a week and was pro-active in his communications and “check-in” calls. We’ve just been through a 6-month process together and I feel that I have got the measure of him and my instinct in the beginning was correct – he has been doing this a long time, he has learnt his craft, understands people buyers and sellers and has a good network. He steered us through some very difficult and emotional decisions with kindness, good humour and professionalism. There were some particularly difficult decisions and conversations during the sale process and Lee managed those for us, he earnt every penny of his fee and I am really glad we chose him because he stood alongside us all the way and I honestly don’t think we could have received better attention from anyone else.

Lee Russell has been our estate agent for almost a year. He actually found three buyers for our house as part of a saga that has more twists and turns and "will they / won't theys" than the Greek debt crisis! In addition we tried to buy three different houses during the process of selling our house as our purchases kept falling through. Throughout this process Lee was absolutely fantastic. He is friendly, respectful and professional and extremely responsive – replying to e-mails promptly, even those sent late into the evening. When our original purchase was falling through Lee got to work trying to rescue the deal, even communicating with our seller and other people in the chain when the selling agents proved disinterested in helping. Lee is like a dog with a bone when there is a problem and goes to great lengths to look for a solution. He managed to resurrect the deal several times at one particular point with some very impressive negotiating up and down the chain. At all times Lee kept us updated as to progress. Lee was very respectful of the fact that it was our home that we were selling and all that that meant for us as a family. Because Lee works on his own you can be assured that he deals with matter personally which we greatly valued. We have come across a few different estate agents in our time but if all estate agents were like Lee the process of buying and selling houses would be much easier. With Lee there is a refreshing lack of snake oil salesmanship. If you are looking to sell a property in Woodley we do not understand why you would even think about using someone else! We wish Lee and his business well in the future.

We had another estate agent lined up when we decided to sell and if I'm honest, only changed to Davis Tate as they were selling the house we were really keen on buying. I am so pleased we made that decision as without Lee I'm fairly convinced we would not have secured the house we wanted or completed within the timeframe we needed. Not only did he secure the sale of our house quickly, Lee chased up other agents and companies for information regarding the property we wanted so we were able to agree the purchase. While we waited days for answers and info from various vendors and agents, Lee would be emailing and calling with updates regularly and an answer was never usually more than a few minutes away when we contacted him. It was with the painful buying/selling chain that Lee really came into his own though. We had a tight deadline for school applications and Lee was on top of the whole process from day one. He kept us in the loop, chasing solicitors for updates and spotting potential hold-ups a mile away. We completed on time thanks only to the hard work he put in, the sale was agreed and going through, he could have sat back and left it in the hands of the solicitors but I don't think it's in his nature not to be proactive. You won't be disappointed, Lee is organised and experienced with an excellent knowledge of the local area. Lee also values his customers experience (even turning up at our house in person with a huge bunch of flowers after the birth of our son!) he's there to make this as easy as possible and does this by taking the time to listen to exactly what you need. We appointed Lee Russell of Davis Tate Woodley as our estate agent recently and were really pleased we did, as he has proved to be very competent, trustworthy and reliable. He takes a relaxed but respectful approach when dealing with clients but there is nothing relaxed about his performance. Always on the end of an email or phone he replied to any concerns at all times and we were never left hanging for a response. The fact that you deal only with him is a bonus because he is always fully informed of the state of affairs and able to respond quickly to queries. We were very happy with the sale price we achieved on our house and although we had a few hold ups with the chain, Lee was constantly ‘on it’, chasing up agents and solicitors and driving the process to a positive conclusion. There were a couple of moments when things looked a bit tricky and that’s when having a good agent makes all the difference as he did a really good job of supporting us through that and keeping our confidence high. We sold our flat through Davis Tate and subsequently found ourselves in a chain of 4 properties. Lee took it upon himself to take ownership for the whole chain (despite only being responsible for the sale of our property) and was like a dog with a bone when it came to chasing solicitors to ensure a smooth exchange and completion. As with all of these things, we came across some complications on the way which Lee helped us navigate through and kept us informed every step of the way. I regularly emailed Lee at all sorts of times day and night and became surprised if I didn't receive a response within 60 minutes such was his eagerness to provide excellent customer service. Importantly, Davis Tate sold our property within a matter of weeks and managed to take care of all viewings during a one week window which we provided (when both my wife and I were out of the country). All this to say, what could have been a really stressful time was made much more tolerable by the professionalism, diligence and determination of Lee. When we do move house again, I don't think I would even both speaking to any other agents apart from Davis Tate. I've not come across service like this from this industry up until now.

I couldn't recommend Lee at Davis Tate enough. We were in a rush to get our property on the market as we had found one that we loved and needed to sell ours immediately to stand a chance of getting it. With absolutely no notice, Lee was able to come round and take photographs of our property that same day, and stayed in the office putting together the particulars, putting the property online and emailing his list of prospective buyers, until after 10pm on a Friday night. As a result we had three viewings arranged for the following day, and another three for the Monday! Lee Russell breaks a mould when it comes to estate agents! Admittedly we sold our property at a time when demand was high and the task was relatively easy but this is where he stands out. He arranged and managed over 15 viewings in the space of 3 days and then negotiated the best deal for the sale (above asking price). This alone we were grateful for but then during what seemed a protracted period (actually 4.5 months) he oversaw and played and a very active role in ensuring the chain (4 properties) was chased, kept informed and ultimately successfully completed. I have never experienced someone from an estate agency who was so proactive and professional in managing the sale end to end - many are not to be seen once the sale is agreed and let you manage it! Not only is Lee professional in his approach but he is friendly and almost always available (and when he is not always replies to a message) yet when he needs to be tough on people in the chain he also exerts pressure to get things moving. It is often said that moving house is the most stressful event that you will experience. The process is made stressful more often than not, due to the lack of focus, absence of any kind urgency and general sloth of the other parties involved up and down the chain....... I am so pleased that we chose to instruct Lee to sell our property in Woodley. Our choice to use Lee was based partly on a personal recommendation but the fact that after having a chat with him it was abundantly clear that this chap clearly knows the local property market. He also knows the appropriate 'buttons' to push in order to keep the sales process moving along smoothly. Selling our property (which Lee did in five days and we achieved the full asking price) was the easy part. Getting the rest of the chain organised into a ship shape fashion was another matter however...... If it wasn't for Lees professionalism, determine and attention to detail it may never have happened at all. We cannot recommend this agent highly enough. We were originally (regrettably) persuaded to list with another local agent whose game was to give a high, unrealistic, valuation to 'hook' you into signing with them, leaving the house to sit without hardly any viewings for some weeks before admitting that the original valuation was perhaps too high, with the only option then to slash the price. With Lee it was a completely different approach right from the start. He was 100% honest and transparent about everything and from the very first days, he'd lined up a number of viewings and called us straightaway afterwards to give us an honest appraisal of how he felt the viewings went. Not only this, but any emails we sent were responded to promptly and professionally-worlds away from the lack of communication we experienced with the other agents. Throughout the entire process from receiving an offer on our property right through to completion we felt up-to-date with any developments.
