Knowledgeable and Authoritative - Demonstrated a complete understanding of the building, explained what to expect, what was and wasn't important, and directly addressed our expectations and concerns. 2. Informative - Gave a thorough explanation of the singular characteristics of a historic building. 3. Prompt and personable - We had several lengthy conversations and all aspects of the survey were discussed and questions answered. 4. Value for money. - We paid considerably less than quotes for comparable surveys.

Nicholson Price Associates undertook a RICS-level 3 equivalent historic building survey on a 17th-century restored water mill that we were considering purchasing. Right from our initial discussion Tim's expertise, knowledge and experience shone through, giving us complete confidence we were in safe and trusted hands. Tim & Lizzie’s extremely well written & structured report was comprehensive and detailed, providing relevant supporting information & pictures, explanation, guidance and advice throughout. Tim took the time to carefully talk us through each aspect of the report and answer any questions. When we were later on the market for another, slightly newer property, I had absolutely no hesitation in picking the phone up again to Tim and Lizzie for their help. They met expectations once again, delivering a comprehensive and detailed report on the day promised and spending plenty of time explaining everything. Nicholson-Price are a rare find and are highly recommended. Tim and Lizzie undertook a Historic building survey (RICS L3) on an un-listed, but historic chapel prior to a residential conversion. Unlike previous RICS surveys we've commissioned, the report was totally clear, readable and informative (with photos and diagrams to explain and support the findings) which didn't require a PhD to understand. The report was clear about what could be seen and what couldn't and Tim's verbal walk-through carefully managed our expectations on which elements were important, which were less critical and where more intrusive assessments would add value to our understanding. We were able to proceed with our purchase with with eyes open and a much clearer plan as a result of Tim's helpful guidance around best-practice for some of the more complex work required. I hope to continue our engagement with Nicholson-Price through the planning and build-phase to ensure our work delivers a future-proofed home which enhances the heritage and character of a beautiful but currently neglected building. Tim and Lizzie undertook a RICS-level 3 equivalent survey on a Grade 1 Georgian townhouse that I’m purchasing. Right throughout the process Tim was extremely easy to deal with. His heritage credentials are beyond reproach. He explained things clearly and succinctly, prior to, during the survey and following the production of the report. Tim’s findings were instrumental in allowing me to renegotiate several commercial aspects of my purchase. The report was particularly well written and supported by a swathe of photos to accentuate key findings. In the past I have found structural surveys to be padded with disclaimers and waffle. This report however helped me understand my property-to-be better, areas to keep a watchful eye on and moreover provide confidence around the purchase. I have absolutely no qualms in recommending this firm.

When purchasing a traditionally constructed (unlisted) property we wanted better assurance and insight to our potential home than we felt a modern surveyor would be able to provide. Tim was fantastic from first contact, through additional conversations, taking in all information on the history of the building to compile an extensive report on the condition of the property, and area’s we may need to monitor or have remedial works done. The report included details on the correct materials for repairs which helps us to appreciate the differences when living in a building of traditional construction. On areas outside of the scope of the survey (complex underground springs and waterways from mill operations), Tim was willing to share his experience and direct us to the right experts that could address these area’s for us. We would highly recommend to anyone purchasing an older property to talk to them.

Nicholson Price Associates recently undertook a Listed Building survey on a Grade ll listed 17th century cottage we were seeking to buy. The support provided by Tim and Lizzie throughout the process has been outstanding. From the outset Tim was very open and honest regarding the approach he would take and what we could expect as outcomes, so we knew, prior to the actual survey, exactly what we were getting. The report was very comprehensive and well balanced which is exactly what you need when buying a traditional building. The report contained numerous photographs of all the key areas including the roof and chimneys enabling you to view aspects of the building which you otherwise wouldn’t see. Tim was very happy to have detailed discussions following issue of the report to clarify areas of interest/concern. Tim’s approach to recommending remedial works was very refreshing and pragmatic. It wasn’t simply a case of everything needs fixing immediately rather a suggested sequence in which things should be addressed over time. Tim also avoids the use of excessive caveats which can sometimes render reports useless. The service provided by Tim and Lizzie was first class and I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Nicholson Price Associates to anyone requiring surveying help and advice.
