Amazing transformation of this building, from what I think was previously a bank. Not only was the building amazing, the food and professional service was too! The presentation of the food was impressive and of a high quality. My favourite dish was King Scallop Black Pudding, simply sublime! Our waiter was also excellent and the fact that he asked whether we wanted to wait before he brought our main course was refreshing to say the least. Highly recommended!

Good service but good could be better, duck was dried, lamb was slightly overcooked (not even sightly pink) and chocolate fondant was not fondant (i.e. the chocolate was completely cooked inside, it was more a normal chocolate cake). I didn't feel any alcohol in the cocktail either (but that's common in any place as many restaurants put a lot of ice when doing cocktails). Decoration is superb. I feel it didn't much to make the food excellent because the sauces and curries are just excellent.

All the dishes tasted delicious. Easily one of the best mango and sticky rice in town - the pandan in coconut sauce makes it extra fragrant. However, the portion size of the sticky rice could be bigger.

I still haven't got my head around how the name of this restaurant should be pronounced, the best I can do is "kao - fi - ray - a" but what is certain this is a great restaurant in the wonderful granite city, the restaurant seems to be a refurbished bank on a scale of a cathedral to Thai food with golden exotic statues gracing several key points. The atmosphere is intoxicating far eastern promise, and must represent a significant investment in design and execution. Service was gracious and attentive at all times by Mairi. We feasted on Prawn Tom Yum and Kha, pork tenderloin, duck tamarind, coconut rice and jasmine rice plus two large bottles of Singaha for an all up cost of £66, and very good value.

I liked the outlook of the restaurant. It had the local touch, and you might forget that you are in the UK for a moment. The food was tasty. The presentation of the food drew me; it differently looked appetizing. The Staff were friendly and had smiles on their faces at all times. If you visit, you can request to sit at the restaurant's extreme left end. There is a nice traditional-looking chair.

I recently visited the restaurant for lunch. The young staff were pleasant and efficient. The food was delicious and well-presented. The building is very impressive but I was distracted by the dingy appearance of the beautiful ceiling. Could do with a coat of paint! There were no delays with the service which is a bonus of choosing to eat at quieter times. A very positive experience.

This was a GEM of a restaurant in the middle of Aberdeen. My family and I were flying blind and looking for a place to eat and thankfully we found Chaophraya. The setting was amazing and beautiful which only added to the excellent food we had! The staff was also kind and helped us with recommendations. Beautifully repurposed (was a bank) building. Was not busy but they seated us in front of server /cashier location in a high traffic area from the kitchen. Starter was great, crispy and fresh. Meals were rather bland, and no condiments were on the table. Rice was not included in the stir fry dishes. Seafood in my stir fry was fresh, but just no flavor in sauce.

It was like finding water in the desert, after 3 days in Scotland and waiting for tasty food, I luckily find Chaophraya and the food is delicious, the service was a bit slow at the beginning but our waiter was great he cleared a couple questions. I highly recommend this place! I came with my partner and our flatmate on a Monday evening and had a very friendly service. The premises are clean and safe, the décor is spectacular and dark and I believe it's perfect to relax, there is a great and ejoyable atmosphere overall. The food is tasty and most of what we ordered had a great size too. I am vegan and was happy to find many options, great value for money as well!! I recommend everything I had: the tofu pad Thai (that you can request to be without eggs), the sweet and sour dragon fruit and the red curry tofu which I accompanied with coconut rice and I had lychee juice to drink, delicious and original! Very well done to all the staff.

Very nice environment and good authentic Thai food. Price is reasonable. Conveniently located in the center of the city along high street, Union Street. Service is polite and attentive. A nice bar for drink and great place for business lunch or dinner. The only downside is no nearby parking.

Lovely atmosphere and the interior is really gorgeous. The Tom yum soup was really delicious with prawns that were really fresh and cooked to perfection. The rest of the food was ok only in terms of taste but was very well presented. Nice place for an outing with friends or a business meeting.

Wow what a difference since the girl that used to work in the Thai place in Union Square became the manager, was in previously with old manger was there, the place was terrible, complained to the manager with glasses and was completely uninterested and never went back till recently, new manager who is Thai looking with a geordie accent and is absolutely holarious and couldn't do enough for our table, place was very busy but she still made time to see everyone was happy, although there was a wait for food it was to be expected because it was so busy, but service was incredible

Quite pricy restaurant but it is really not too bad. Furthermore the quantity is quite good. It is a beautiful place to be in as the atmosphere and interior design is beautiful. It is the prettiest restaurant in Aberdeen so far. The quality was not bad but not top notch either.. All in all I can recommend the chaopryaha platter and pad thai and what is most important; I did not leave hungry

The food was good and I would rate it 4/5. I had the Beef Penang curry which had a rich coconut flavour and various species such as Kaffir lime leaves, also an underlying nutty flavour. It was spicy but not so overpowering that you couldn't taste the other flavours of the dish. However, the time taken for the food to arrive was longer than expected. The desert also took as long as the food took to arrive which is unusual as one of the desserts was scoops of ice-cream; of which the ice-cream was said to be homemade but was icy and lacked a definitive vanilla flavor. Despite this the other desert, named the chocolate bombe was a hollow spherical dark chocolate ball with crushed peanuts inside surrounding another solid ball of dense chocolate ice-cream. Then poured over was a hot salted caramel sauce that semi melted the hollow chocolate ball. Combined these flavours were absolutely delicious. The service was also great despite the longer waiting times for the food and dessert. Overall, I would definitely recommend checking this place out!

Had an itison deal here for a cocktail class. Couldn't book for ages as always busy. The manager offered to take our vouchers a couple of weeks even after the expiry date as the classes were always full. Great class. Got a cocktail made for us & taught to make another. Then let loose on our own creation. We also had a sharing platter of food which was delicious. Had great fun.

First of all, the interior of the restaurant is stunning! The staff was really helpful and nice, especially when we asked the vegetarian food to be made vegan. Our bartender, Christian was superb! The food was very fresh and delicious. Best pad Thai I have had in town. I would defiantly go again.

Great building much bigger than expected with beautiful finishings mains we're really nice without being mind blowing ,certainly not as spicy as Thai normally is, the soup Tom Kha, with chicken was pleasant without being anything to write home about, desserts, my wife had the sorbets which were excellent and I had the passion fruit and mango slice mmmm far too small a portion for the money but pleasant, definitely going back though service was attentive and friendly despite being quite busy, until the end of the meal when we had to get up and pay... but its a really nice place , for larger parties especially...

Good for a beer or cocktail as well as dinner. Popped in when it was raining, got a bear at the bar tables and some dumplings to go with. It's an upmarket restaurant in a grand venue. Prices are as expected for the experience, food and venue. Great selection of cocktails and some good beers. Good for a cheeky bite to eat. I imagine a fancy dinner here would be a lovely evening. Staff friendly and accommodating.

All I can say is wow! The food here was absolutely Incredible! The sharing platter tasted absolutely fantastic. I also has the sirloin steak and although it was overcooked it still tasted absolutely fantastic. So many flavours and the sauce that came with it was a perfect addition. The cocktails on offer and great and the also taste great! Wouldn't recommend this place enough. Only issue is the toilet situation, not really a fault of the restaurant but if you struggle to walk then you will find the toilets difficult as they're quite a journey.

Was only in Aberdeen briefly for a house hunting trip,literally just walking down the road and we thought we'd give this place a go and we love thai food and we were starving!! Food was served in good time, so full of flavour and very filling!! Can't wait to visit again once we've relocated.

Food was good but service needs improvement. To start with we waited at the door for someone to acknowledge our presence, when the person in charge arrived, she didn’t even say “hello” she went to her computer then answered a call… She finally walked us to the table, she took our food order for which she had to return twice as she didn’t remember what we ordered, same for drinks. Our drinks arrived after we finished our meal and the watermelon punch had a slice of soft, spoiled watermelon that was uneatable. Cherry on the cake, the server brought us our bill without us even asking. Nor did she ask if we finished or wanted deserts… She was a nice girl our server Rhona but she might need some training. Food was delicious though.

My partner and I went here on Saturday and it was possibly my best restaurant experience to date. The menu was varied and the food absolutely delicious I highly recommend the Chicken Tacos as a starter, such a delicate balance of sweet and spice. We got Pad Thai and a Chicken Stir-Fry for our mains and swapped half way through - not because we were dissapointed, because we wanted the other to experience how amazing it tasted. Food aside the ambience and decor is incredible and the staff were just the right amount of friendliness, no one was hovering over your shoulder interrupting every five minutes, but there was always someone around if you needed another drink. Highly, highly recommend.

Well folks my mum loves Thailand has been many times and speaks Thai she knows Thai food and In her opinion this place is as authentic as you can get! You walk in and your eyes travel round the beautifully decorated interior with real ground level circular tables if you would like the real experience that on top the lovely welcoming staff the food is exceptional and I a real foodie have fallen in love with the food here it's amazing I urge you to try this restaurant and advise stay away from the Thai restaurant in the big shopping centre it's garbage thankyou guys see you soon Barry Allan ☮️

Food good, service was bad, we'd ordered coffee before I'd ordered dessert and I'd finished my desert before coffee arrived and it was full of grounds. Same for drinks. We saw them sitting on the bar for 15 minutes before someone picked them up. No atmosphere and it was freezing.

From a student perspective it was great that they are continuing to do eat out to help out, but the price is well deserving of the food. Great cocktails, and we were surprised by how tipsy they left us feeling - some strong stuff. Lastly the service and facilities were excellent and the coronavirus precautions were well organised. Deserving of a tip. Chaophraya - a great exploration into Thai cuisine with a western influence.

Our first visit here was for my wife's birthday. We had the dumpling platter and battered prawns to start with, with duck and chicken dishes for main courses, and scallops as a side. All of the dishes were fantastic, with the scallop side dish having a big kick. The presentation of the dishes was also really good, our chicken dish served with dragon fruit, which I hadn't really seen before. The service was really good, and the architecture and ambience add to the atmosphere. All in all, a great food experience, we'll be back for more.

This is the third time we’ve been during the last couple of months. The food and service is generally great as is the ambience. However the waitress who served us today was incredibly rude ... on several occasions and even as we were leaving!! Booked a table for two on a Sunday afternoon. A very good 50% off deal was on offer, which we booked the previous evening, I'm not sure it is available if you simply turn up. We chose the set menu for two - Set Atchara (regal) at £42 per head (but with 50% off) and the food was fantastic. Really good variety and we enjoyed all the dishes. I would recommend and will certainly return.

The service was very slow but I think that was a one-off and the last time I went here, it wasn't like that. I had the duck, which was delicious, preceded by a starter of a selection of things. We ordered the platter which came with dumplings and these lovely fishcakes. I don't think it was presented as well as it used to be though. It seemed all a bit messy like it had been rushed out. Tasted good though! In all, it was good but for the wait, it left me a little disappointed.

Went here yesterday with my boyfriend to celebrate my birthday. Glad we went at 9pm as it still seemed a little busy so just shows how popular it is. Service was excellent and it was clear there was a lot of attention to detail put into the decor, the food presentation etc. The food itself was sublime and i wanted to tell the server to thank the chef personally as the chicken with cashew nuts was the tastiest chicken I have ever ate in my life but I became shy and never did but wish I had now. We left a tip which is unusual for us as we only tip if we think it's really something special. Only complaint is the background music didn't seem to be in keeping with the tone ie a lot of it was kinda upbeat when i felt it should have been slower but nevertheless this was negligible and the atmosphere of the place still made me feel very relaxed. Will definitely come here again!

Only reason for 4 stars is like the other 2 I've been in I think the portion size is small for the price. They should either increase the portions or lower the price. Nice place, great staff but middle of the road food. We chose the set Xmas menu, perhaps a mistake, which was very fairly priced at £17. The starter platter consisted of prawn toast (ok) a beef dish (tasted good but fatty meat and chewy), and chicken satay (good). Mains were a buffet of Thai green curry (tasteless and bland), beef in a black bean sauce (very nice), tofu with noodles (gloopy, stodgy and uninspiring) and rice. Service was excellent, the staff were friendly and the restaurant was immaculate. Worth a re visit outwith the seasonal rush but not great on this occasion.

We were walking up and down Union Street looking for somewhere to eat when we came upon the Chaophraya Thai Restaurant. Not sure what to expect, we went inside and was immediately hit with the WOW!
