Had been wanting to try this place for weeks but always been fully booked when I arrive. Struck lucky today and I am so glad I did.
The food was gorgeous, taste and presentation. The BBQ pulled pork was amazing, soft and tasty, with the perfect kind of cheese.
For dessert I ordered a deluxe chimney cake with hazelnut. It was the best dessert I’ve had in years, soft inside but perfectly crispy on the outside. The hazelnut generously covered the whole cake.
Hot chocolate was perfect too, I had it with rose and super decadent.
The staff were wonderful, super helpful and welcoming. Checked if I had any allergies or food requirements before ordering and very on-top of cleaning and disinfecting tables.
Will totally return when I can, specially if family visit, would be the perfect place for an amazing meal.

Delicious Hungarian cuisine and drinks, the owners are super friendly and kind. The whole decor is very nice and the restaurant is clean. Highly recommended.

Food was wonderfully made. The staff was incredibly nice and friendly. We will definitely return to this place! We've got a little sample of alcoholic beverage I think it was called Palinka (which was an excellent addition to my Baked sausage). ❤️

We had a great night out at Paprika. The staff were especially friendly and helpful (and the waitress was so loving and motherly). The portions were big and food was piping hot and delicious. Atmosphere was fantastic too. Waiting time was only between 5-10min. Recommend the Placky (stuffed pancake), ribs and Gerbeaud (layered cake).
Definitely worth checking out if you are in Aberystwyth!

The food is outstanding. I had never had chimney cake before, but now I'm convinced it needs to be my favorite. Loved the Hungarian goulash.

This is my favourite place to eat and be in Aberystwyth Town Centre. The food is beyond description, it is always fresh always very well presented and most importantly always a delight to have the feeling of being family whilst there.
It is a place that brings joy when you are there and is always accommodating. It reminds me of Home and takes me back to the days of my Grandparents and Family gathered in large groups together eating a hearty meal and spending time with each other.
I would say that this place is the nicest sweetest place in all of Aber when it comes to having food and company. The prices are more than fair for everyone to be able to enjoy a bite there, they offer many a different menu as they change it every week and it is always a pleasure and privilege to spend time there and enjoy such foods that can only be enjoyed in such a way.
I know for a fact that the food is fresh daily as they do not have a freezer so all ingredients are fresh.
I know that there is no wastage as any food that is not sold in the day is then given to an old people's home to help feed them further.
I know how lovely the owners are and how much they care not only about the food but the people that come into the place.
Finally I know that they will always do their absolute best to treat everyone with love and respect and welcome all into a very beautiful restaurant.

Really great restaurant, nice atmosphere, the owners are really nice and friendly! Best chimney cakes, we have tried the cheese, the walnut and the ice chimney and all were absolutely fantastic!!! Definitely will come here again!

We had an excellent time celebrating our anniversary here. The food went so quickly I didn't have time to take a picture. If you're vegan there are always options, we had soup, main and dessert and you can book in advance to let them know. It is real hearty food, that you can't find anywhere else. We will definitely be coming back.
We even took a chimney cake with us afterwards.

Food and service were absolutely fantastic. Traditional authentic Hungarian cuisine. Host Katie was attentive and eager to please. The one negative was the price of alcohol, it was far above what you would expect from a comparable restaurant and I didn’t have any out of principle. However, that didn’t detract from the hospitality or food quality. Would recommend, but if you like a drink or two with your meal, prepare yourself.

Best little café/ restaurant in town. Hungarian food. The owners are very passionate about their food and very attentive if you eat in, they couldn't be more welcoming! Everything is home made, freshly made and made with pride. We have barely been anywhere else in town since they opened.

Myself and my partner had a really lovely experience here. The decor is unique, the lovely lady who served us was so friendly and helpful, and most importantly the food was delicious. I had the potato stew and a coffee ice cream for dessert, my partner had the legendary burger and a lotus biscuit crepe. We were also given a complimentary shot of a Hungarian spirit which was really kind. We will 1000% return again and couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough!
L. E.
I was so impressed with the food in this place. Authentic home made hungarian food, which is delicious. Even my son who is a fussy eater loved his Sheppards dish. The set menu is amazing value and the owners are very friendly. It was a pleasure to visit.
S. B.
Absolutely beautiful, from the food to the hospitality, it was absolutely perfect, our meals were huge… but we couldn’t resist a dessert too!
The food was full of flavour & everything complimented each other.
LOADS of gluten free and dairy free options, which was amazing!
Thank you for having us, we will be back! :)

If you look for authentic Hungarian food, that takes you back to your childhood and reminds you of your grandmother’s style food, then look no further. Sándor and Kati not only manages to bring you best Hungarian food in the UK, they managed to bring the spirit of Hungary with their hospitality, unique approach and welcoming attitude right in the middle of Aberystwyth.
Reasonable priced, outstanding, honest food with the best ingredients from the old country.
Visiting them is like visiting a family back home 😊

Wonderful dining experience. The food was absolutely exquisite.
The catfish was perfectly cooked, and was bathed in a creamy, decadent, rich sauce. The atmosphere and hospitality were sublime. Very friendly staff. I highly recommend Paprika Restaurant and it is definitely worth trying if you are in Aberystwyth.

Daughter and mother had birthday dinner, waitress could not have done enough to make us feel welcome, answered all our questions about Hungarian cuisine, food really lovely so much to choose from. Highly recommend and can not wait to return. Yum yum.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Sanyi es Kati are putting their lives and souls into their business. They love cooking with a passion and every meal they present are exceptionally tasty. I recommend them 100%, dining here is a truly magical experience and if you try it once I guarantee you will come back again. Thanks for everything guys 😊

Really unsure on what to say about this restaurant as I have mixed views. There was only us two and another table of two on a Friday evening, so the place really lacked atmosphere. Was greeted by a lovely lady, whom was pleasant, polite and attentive the whole stay. We were shown to the table given menus, but the drinks were so expensive... there is no way that I would pay over £7.50 for a can of lager, export or not and £8.90 for a glass of wine. So we opted for the homemade lemonade which was nice, but not our preffered choice. We were given some complimentary bread/pastry which had a cheese kind of taste, possibly. This was just after we gave our order and was told 15 minutes for food, which was fine. I chose Chicken Paprikash, creamy paprika sauce with sour cream (which I don't think was actually on there) with pasta and my partner chose Placky, which is a potato pancake dish with pork and bacon. I was so disappointed with mine as I'd say it was packet pasta as a mixture of penne and fuseli pieces, it tasted nice but didn't have enough sauce or rather too much pasta. I did want to ask for more sauce, but decided against it and just left half of the pasta. The Placky however was very tasty and again a good size potion but of the right ingredients. We didn't want a dessert as full from the main, but were kindly given a couple of pieces of pastry, the chimney filled one I think. Which was nice, but a bit too sweet for us, but appreciated as free. I personally don't think I would visit again, as its just a bit too expensive for what you get in comparison to other local restaurants. But the main thing was the alcohol, I just feel its way too expensive, maybe have some cheaper options rather than just Hungarian drinks as I'm sure the place would be much busier as the foods ok and service good.
P. C.
I picked up a late lunch to go from here today and it was lovely. Previously when I've visited Hungary I've found the people to be exceptionally friendly, and the couple running this today were no exception.
Lovely smiles, friendly and helpful, they made me fresh food in just a few mins (a chicken filled pancake thing and a cinnamon pastry/cake that they gave to me complementary) it was piping hot still even after I got it home and absolutely delicious.
I like to try new food and it's great to have some alternative flavours in Aberystwyth, thrilled to see they do coffee and cake type things too so I shall come in for my coffee next time I'm in town. 5* highly recommended.

The best restaurant in Aberystwyth! If you would like to eat something different Paprika is the best place to choose. Quality and taste of food is wonderful. Restaurant owners are always smiling and welcome customers. It's very nice to look at people who put so much heart into their work. Thank you so much for place like that.
B. P.
It was our first time here and we had the absolute best time! The food and service was 10/10! Definitely recommend the chimney cake as it was probably the best I have ever had. Thank you for the wonderful experience and we cannot wait to come back and drink more of the pálinka!

I came from Hungary and I can tell that this is the best hungarian restaurant in the world! Not only the food is delicious and mouth-watering but the couple who serves the food are absolutely amazing and loving people. I really hope you can stop by and witness this wonderful experience like I did! ❤

What a wonderful surprise find whilst visiting Aberystwyth! We only had time to stop for a brief bite to eat but I'm so very glad we did - my Hungarian Father was delighted and it was a real dose of nostalgia for him! The Kürtőskalács were AMAZING and we finally had peach tea in the UK. Wonderfully friendly people, thank you so much for your hospitality and for looking after us even if we didn't eat much. We definitely plan to return, with much more time to fully enjoy a meal. Köszönöm.
E. B.
My close friends and I had a private function for a birthday in this wonderful place.
The atmosphere was beyond homely. The staff so joyous and friendly especially when catering to our individual needs.
Beyond all, the food is utterly phenomenal. Locally sourced, more than reasonably priced. I don't think I've eaten anywhere that fulfills the quotas of being both hospitable and delectable.

Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Aberystwyth!
This restaurant is a place where Hungarian kitchen meets with the English taste. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Best service ever!! They truly care about your experience.
I would recommend for everyone who wants to taste something new, tasty, delicious food made with passion and seasoned with love.
Thank you for everything Sanyi & Kati, see you again soon!♥️ xxx

Amazing food and fantastic service! The food was absolutely delicious and the owners are super friendly. Highly recommended and if you go there, have a shot of pálinka!

One of the best places in Aberystwyth for both dining in and take-aways. The staff is super friendly and helpful, food is simply great (every time I ordered take-away I was surprised by a gift so I got to try something new!). And the interior of the restaurant looks just so lovely, it's definitely worth visiting and trying their food. The chimney cakes are delicious, especially freshly made and hot, and their burgers are honestly the best ones I got to try in Aber. <3
K. R.
Oh my gosh, let me start with the owners. Quite literally, the most lovely people we meet in Wales! Beautiful people with such generous spirits. This restaurant and the Hungarian food is a lovely surprise. Please support them - they truly deserve the success.
B. U.
The best food and service I have experienced in the last few years. Lovely Lovely people and they really know how to look after their customers
N. M.
If you go out for great hospitality, come here. If you go out for good food, come here. You really can’t lose! We loved the chimney-ice creams - an unusual but delicious concept - and they couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming. I was shown samples of other things on their menu and it looked just as delicious. We will certainly be back.
J. M.
Had a lovely lunch at Paprika on our last day of holiday as passing through on our way home. Myself, my husband and son were all so full. The food was so tasty and filling. The service was first class too. We will definitely visit again when we visit Aberystwyth again and will definitely recommend to friends and family. A must for anyone wanting good quality food and something a little different.
T. E. H.
We were just visiting the restaurant today for a cinnamon chimney roll to take out.
We were served by a lovely lady, who was quite busy and informing us she had run out of the rolls apart from a small one. We ordered that and had to wait for some time.
She offered the girls an ice cream and made such a party put of it! She decorated them really lovely, and the ice creams were delicious.
When the chimney roll was finished and I wanted to pay, she didn't want me to pay because we had had to wait a bit longer.
We hadn't minded the wait, but it was nice of her and she was a lovely person.
The food looked good and the next time we are in Aberystwyth, we will come here for food!
C. b.
We found this little café when we noticed a beautiful smell coming through the open door, with beyond passionate owners, gorgeous seating areas and the chimney cakes are an explosion of flavour at the first bite. Personally i got the M&M/Raspberry and I can’t recommend this place enough, we even got a taste of what Hungarian dinner traditions are like! Will 100% be back
P. T.
What a great place to sample Hungarian cuisine. Food was tasty fresh and served really quickly by lovely people. Try dishes from the Chefs special menu one starter, one main, one desert & a glass of homemade lemonade all for £11.50.

This was my first visit to Aberystwyth and I have come across with this little gem caffee not far from the train station. Being Hungarian I was more than happy, especially because I was warmly welcomed,so I felt home immediately. The service of the traditional Hungarian cuisine was excellent ,,by providing high quality of food with a little touch of personalisation for each customer. I can highly recommend this wonderful place to everyone who is looking for a difference from the usual with the combination of a friendly and caring environment.
J. M.
Not the cheapest restaraunt in Aberystwyth but this is more than made up for by the quality of the food and incredible service . Highly reccomended.
J. E.
Friendly staff, had great chat about Hungarians in Aberystwyth.
Great change of food from the norm
M. D.
The service and the food was lovely. The goulash soup was very good but not a lot of meat in it. The filled kurtos was better than any other cake I have tried in Wales!
P. B.
I'm sat in here now and the owners are that lovely I've just got to chuck them a 5 star review now 😀
K. w.
Absolutely lovely food, big variety to pick from, really friendly staff, would highly recommend this place for some quality food.

If I could give 10🌟 I would. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I was on a road trip to North Wales and stopped off in Aberystwyth for a quick shop. As I started walking down Terrace Road there this beautiful aroma which immediately got me intrigued, So I followed the gorgouse insence scent which brought me to this lovely little Hungarian restaurant/takeaway. The chef and service lady are husband and wife and they were both so welcoming and friendly. I must have been in their shop for well over 30 min chatting about Hungarian food, then they were so kind to start bringing out little tasters of different dishes for me to try for free. Outstanding 🤩! Food and a beutiful couple !👫
I have never tried Hungarian food before ........ And for sure I will be making a special road trip to Aberystwyth just for an evening at The FoodBOX Hungarian restraint 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 to get the full experience., as I felt like I'd known them both for years after leaving........ Obviously I bought loads of Hungarian munch takeaway for my road trip.
Keep up the good work both You truly are amazing, And I promise I will see you soon. 🍽🥂

Szia.. Najyon najyon Jo!! Hi.. very very good!! .. The food here is amazing, great chef and owners.. Plenty of seating, brilliant service and We Can't wait to try the langos and visit you both again soon x Mark and Maria

Brilliant Chimney sweetbread, authentically cooked and tastes just like in Hungary, welcoming staff, offering and giving a student discount which is a nice touch. Would definitely come back.

The food is authentic, the couple who run it are lovely people, will let you try samples too. They started the business just prior to lockdown, so deserve some custom and support. They support other local businesses too.
I. C.
The food is amazing, I can honestly say that it's the best restaurant in Aberystwyth. People working there are extremely friendly and nice, they also have a "taste before buying" policy which is great. I'm literally in love with this place 💜💜💜

This is a traditional hungarian restaurant. The foods are tasty, spicy, real "hom made" feeling.. The owners are very kindly, helpful. If you are in Aberystwyth and you are like to eat a good meal then you have to visit this place!
K. M.
Amazing quality, original taste, outstanding service.
G. K.
Awsome cheap food that tastes not only great but you will leave the restaurant full, wait times are low (granted you not visit the restaurant in rushour) along with prices (with a currently ongoing rewards programme)
If you live here (or visit the city) you have to at least jump in and grab something delicious
A. H.
We found this gem recently. What a find. We had the chimney ice dessert and a coffe. The pastry was amazing and with the ice cream and toppings was just the lovliest dessert. The couple who were serving were just the most lovely people who were keen to explain about there food and were more than happy to encourage you to try the food they had on offer. Also had meatballs and potatos which i took as a take away. The meatballs were very tasty and the tomato sauce was fresh and sweet which is just to my liking.
As NHS staff we were also afforded 10% off the total amount. I very rarely review food outlets but i make exception for Paprika as i thoroughly enjoyed my visit and the food is a must try .i will most definately be back. Thank you
A. M.
The food was great and the staff were lovely. More than happy to offer free samples if you're at all concerned about trying something new. I would highly recommend giving it a go.
