Came here for an early Valentines Treat. Food was amazing, only thing I would of liked with the pork belly was the fat to be slightly crispy. Everything tasted amazing, service was spot on. And drinks were lush. Came to just under £100 for 2 people but definitely worth it as a treat.

Nice midweek meal out. Friendly greeting upon entering and a chatty (in a good way) and knowledgeable serving person. The food is quick,but not so quick that you can’t sit back, relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Steaks are perfect. Rare is perfectly rare and the meat is tender and tasty. Clean and tidy, nice decor and a welcoming ambience. We’ll be going back for sure.

First time visiting and will not be the last. From entering we were greeted by warm, welcoming, knowledgeable staff. Special mention to Alex who was our attentive waiter. Food was delicious, the ribs just fell of the bone. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

A nice place to grab a bite to eat but not the cheapest. Offers a daytime menu deal. Starters and main were good but thought we would push the boat out and have dessert. This is where it all went wrong hence the 3 stars. We ordered apple pie and shortly starting it my wife found a piece of plastic in it. Obviously this was bought to the waiters attention immediately who apologised and took the dessert away. To be fair he did offer a replacement but this kind of killed the meal experience understandably. The manager (we guess it was a manager, as he didn't introduce himself) then came to our table and apologised for the problem and took the cost of desserts off the bill. I know these things can happen but the removal of the dessert cost was minimal especially as the wife had barely eaten any of it. We wasn't after the whole cost to be waived but feel a better offer could of been made. Would we go again? Yes probably but have to be timed right as it can get busy.

Overall, the whole experience was great. The man who greeted us at the front desk was cheerful and funny, and he explained to us that nothing had really changed since COVID had hit, except that we need to wear a mask when not eating and try to remember to follow the one way system. The food was also great. Pictured here is an 8oz Sirloin and fries. Avoid the salad, as it is literally a chunk of lettuce drizzled in salad dressing, unless you are into that. We booked for a Father's day lunch two days in advance, and the whole experience was painless and easy. Would easily recommend to anyone who wants a good steak or just a nice dinner out in general.

If I had a better seat and not sit at the kitchen opening, I would have given it a 5 ☆, but someone had to. The food was fabulous, The starter was nice, prawn and crab but the crab was very mushy. Still tasty, for mains I had a ribeye that melted in my mouth. Daughter has Coeliac but was well catered for. It was lovely overall. Definately go again.

Nice lunchtime meal. Was 12.50 for 2 course and 15.50 for 3 course. I had 3 course and each course was tasty. I would recommend, the staff were friendly and efficient. We went for a birthday meal we did not ask for anything special but they brought out a tile with happy birthday written in chocolate sauce a strawberry and cookie. Over and above thank you. Amazing staff making our family and friends trip super special. The food was delicious and staff recommendations spot on. Sharing platters are awesome. Wedge of cabbage is a little odd. Kids menu looked tasty and they enjoyed it. Meat was cooked almost perfectly and we could have sent it back but was so hungry and it smelt amazing.

Great staff passionate about the quality of the steaks. Waitress gave us like a mini lesson in how the steak should be cooked and the best sauce to compliment it and wow best meal i have probably ever had. I have been to a lot of places claim they do the best steaks but nothing has beaten this for me to date and for that reason I didn’t feel bad about the price to much. Also the starters we had had a side of Mac and cheese and I normally I don’t have much like for that dish, but was mouth watering also. Beef dripping sauce was the best I have had. Just fantastic food.

The service we received was absolutely amazing, the best i’ve had anywhere in a long time. Our waitress Eleanor was so attentive, thoughtful and lovely all evening and made it an absolute pleasure. We used vouchers from a previous M and C after complaining about service and quality. This was in another league. 👍🏼 For getting it right. We go because my partner Denise really enjoys the filet steak and all the accompaniments, especially the onion loaf. Our first visit to this restaurant and really enjoyed the layout. We both ordered steak. mine was a little overcooked and both our wedges could have been dressed a bit more generously with dressings. The flavour, presentation and onion loaf were excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed. Would definitely recommend and re-visit.

A lovely lunch date! All of the staff were so polite and courteous throughout, particularly our server, Tommy, who was cheerful, polite and friendly. The food was also excellent, and cooked as we had ordered it. We will definitely be back.

Our first time at Miller & Carter and definitely won’t be the last. Food was amazing, service and staff were brilliant from start to finish and would highly recommend going. Shame there was a drunk, rude table next to us who seemed to be causing issue with the staff (nor did anyone else seem to have an issue). But it did not ruin our experience whatsoever. Overall a great time had by all.

Tasty food when it arrived and of good quality for which I have given it 5 stars but the time it took to arrive between courses let the service down. The service was slow for drink orders and staff did not check everything was OK very much as there was a swap over of staff half way through our meal as a shift change. The friendliness of the staff when they did come over helped and it will not put us off visiting again

When we went on a Saturday lunchtime it was nice and quiet which suited us and we were greeted by a very pleasant lady called Bex who was knowledgeable about the menu without being flashy and generally nice and friendly, just how service used to be ! The food was generally great, the only minor complaint was not enough barbeque sauce on my wife's spare ribs - she likes it really running off them ! Based on our experience, I am not really sure what could be improved, maybe you could increase the portion size of the Prawn cocktail but this was only a starter.

I visited miller and carter in Bedford with my family on Saturday 27 Aug. We were served by Tegan who was extremely helpful and friendly. Our party comprised of 3 meat eaters and 2 vegetarian/vegan diners. It was pleasing to see that there was a plant based burger on the menu as we accept that miller and carter are generally targeting meat eaters. Also, the addition of a vegan dessert was very welcomed. However, when we decided to have a hot drink the only milk available was dairy, therefore that conflicts with the vegan offerings. A plant based milk would be welcomed by any vegans who are dining with you. Whilst on the subject of hot drinks decaffeinated tea bags might be helpful too. As I forgot to put one in my bag. One of our party was gluten free so was very pleased to see you have a gluten free menu

Elise was the perfect host, it is not the first time Elise has waited our table and what a credit she is for M&C, polite, cheerful, warm, approachable not that we needed to as she was there as we needed her, personable but professional. I will say the others were hard working and great too from observation. The food I believe was cooked by Daniel and the steak was cooked to perfection and was high quality. Would love to see Elise as a training manager or even progressed through mangement of a restuarant to fast track to regional because we Need more people like Elise.

What an amazing experience! The service was the best I have ever seen quick, friendly and extremely polite. The food was for the most part amazing, while few appetisers were just "good". Definitely the best steak house I've ever visited. The restaurant was quite upscale and obviously a bit pricey but it was worth every penny. We ended up paying £50 per person and would go there again!

Tegan is an absolute credit to the company. She was incredibly friendly and genuinely seemed interested in what you had to say and from watching her move around the restaurant I can say she was 100% like this with everyone. The steak was perfectly cooked and the drinks were well made. A little bit of a wait but probably because it was “steak and date night” which we didn’t realise till we arrived but all of this was no issue. I genuinely cannot praise Tegan high enough. Deserves a raise!

Getting a bit tired of these restaurants passing pathetic starters onto custermers and not even care that it sets a damaging opinion on the business. My prawn and crab cocktail was laughable. A massive plate with a very poor effort never worthe the price that's shamefully charged. And what was the wedge of lettece? Stupid!!! My steak meal was 10/10 though .

As one of the survivors of the near-disasterous inaugural Riverside Bedford development, Miller And Carter have fired on all cylinders to become the best steakhouse in Bedford. We went for my partners birthday meal and were not disappointed. Right from the start, the service was courteous, conversational and friendly. They provided my partner with a gluten free menu as she is coeliac, and we had a friendly conversation with the staff about that as well! Their wine list is amazing and we chose wisely with the pinot noir. As for the Ribeye steak, it was cooked to perfection, seasoned beautifully and the beef dripping sauce was TO DIE FOR 🥩 The ONLY thing that prevented it from getting the 5 star treatment here is that unfortunately a few menu items were missing. From memory I think it was the prawns that had ran out, as I had initially wanted to order the surf n turf. There was something else that had ran out as well, but it escapes me. Obviously these things happen in all restaurants and items either run out or get 86'd regularly, but I can only imagine the meal would have been improved tenfold if we could have got the surf n turf. So obviously we'll be back.. for the surf n turf! 😅 I'm sure I'll even be back on here to regale a 5 star review afterwards.

Simply, the best steakhouse restaurant so far since I came to UK!! I made an online booking which was very straight forward and easy. The restaurant is very easy to find, nicely located at the riverside bedford. We were kindly welcomed by one of the staff, and were seated straight-away. The restaurant is wonderfully designed, romantic vibes are there. The menu is very clear and simple, yet very rich. The staff are very attentive, well trained, and hospitable. We ordered the Butcher's Block as a sharing plate, which consists of 3 different steak cuts and a brisket filled marrow bone, with chips and lettuce wedges. The dish presentation is mouthwatering, the steaks were served just as we ordered them, the taste is heaven, the sauces are wonderful. Very joyful experience, I will definitely return again, and I strongly recommend M&C steakhouse!

Glamourous steak house with a feel of an old school gentleman's club, with dark wooden and leather, wines on display. Menu is extensive and not all steak for those in a group who do want a change. I had the scallops and spare ribs both which were delicious and very delicately presented. The desserts were hard to decide between and the ones we had were fabulous and beautifully presented. Staff were friendly if not a bit staged it felt as if they were reading off a script. Worth a visit.

Service is good. The most professional service so far I know in Bedford. Seems like we're dining in Fitzrovia area. We're indeed having a fantastic meal & time here. Turned up without booking with two kids in tow, the staff were really friendly and attentive from the off, finding us a booth and settling us with drinks. The ordering was quick, the portions were LARGE! We could have ate the starters only and had a decent meal. The rest was gluttony. Kids meals were too big, they could have easily shared but the staff packet the leftovers for us to take home upon request. To be picky, No kids cutlery available and the £17.95 medium rare bistro rump steak was actually rare so the piece of sinew running through the meat was chewy and inedible. Kids menu offers value for money and deserts menu looked good but we were stuffed and didn’t order any. Toilets were nice and clean, it’s not cheap for adult mains but they don’t automatically add a service charge, £72 for two adults and two kids with only one alcoholic drink and no desserts. I would return.

I was pleasantly shocked when the chef showed concern over my dietary requirements and even suggested how he was going to cook my meal differently as a result. Amazing service and with a human touch. Went here for an early Friday night meal with the family. Feels like a smart chain restaurant, which it is. However is nothing wrong with chains (Pret...mmm) and felt the atmosphere relaxed and convivial. Service was excellent, from first entering to leaving. They had started getting very busy by the time we left, but our server in particular was still chatty and engaging our 4 year old. Food was great, especially the calamari starter, though miniscule in size to perhaps Baja's calamari starter, at the same cost. The steak is the main reason for coming, and while it didn't disappoint, I did feel improvements could be made. We opted for the 30oz Tomahawk, which came perfectly medium rare as requested. Sides were great too. Only sight niggle was that the steak could have done with a real salty crust, and I didn't feel it amazingly flavourfull (only wet aged). All in all, definitely a great addition to Bedfords dining scene. Will definitely try again and sample some of their intriguing cocktails II

Great place for steaks by the river (parking at river Street multi storey across the road is ideal) however, our child has a dairy allergy and there really wasn't a lot of options for him on the menu. I think they only have one dairy free dessert option and that was some sort of prosecco sorbet...we had to go elsewhere for dessert.

Food was great as always! Had an issue with the service though. After we had starters, I ordered a bottle of wine for myself (normally cheaper to get one bottle rather than individual glasses) but when I was asked how many glasses I obviously only said one as it was just for me to which I received a shocked look along with a little comment about what I had ordered. It bothered me a little because I don't need to justify what I order or how much I drink. I wasn't driving, I was enjoying dinner with my partners and friends and didn't expect that reaction when ordering what I want.

No matter which Miller and Carter you go to the service and quality of food is top quality. We did get sent to another part of Bedford on the other side of the river because the Map Marker is wrong on Google. I have requested it get changed once but it has been rejected so I would be careful when using walking instructions. Update: after perseverance I kept trying to update the map marker and address on Google and I have finally had it accepted. 🎉😁

Great food, great service and free parking on Sunday. We had a party of 12 for our mother's birthday and the staff catered to us fantastically. Brace yourself for some pricey items on the menu, but that aside the food was outstanding and the steaks all cooked perfectly. I highly recommend trying the sweet potato chips, they were crispy and delicious.

My friend and i dined at miller and carter on monday evening.Having a poor experience on a previous visit i was apprehensive on what was in store.I need not have worried.The food and service was excellent and surpassed my expectations.Our server Elise was very knowledgable regarding the menu options and was very patient with us when we were dithering over what sauce to have with our steaks. I am very fussy with how i like my steak but i can say that it was cooked to perfection arrived hot and was extremely tasty.I had the ribeye my friend had fillet and both were just as nice.The meal was finished off with a superb creme brulee .I will definately be returning and 10 out of 10 for the excellent customer service from Elise. Went in for lunch having been to their Wheathampsted branch a few times. Menu the same , as you would expect and quality good. Prices reflect the quality of the meat but they do have a fixed price 1, 2 or 3 course smaller plate lunch menus which is worth considering. Staff friendly and ready to help. Worth a visit although parking is not on site but there is a multi storey across the road. Right next door to the Vue cinema. Re-visit in 8/22 and still worth a try of the lunch menu. Seemed quite popular on a Thursday lunchtime although spaces available for a walk-up.

Oh dear, not sure if they have a different chef but the quality & taste of food has, for us, gone downhill. The service was brilliant & floor staff very friendly but it all comes down to menu & food. My mushroom starter was dismal, the mushrooms tasteless & the sauce luke warm & watery for cheese. The main course I paid extra for (specifically) well browned bacon & cheese - sadly the bacon was stringy with uncooked white fat & absolutely no sign of the cheese. Whilst the burger meat was good quality everything else let it down. The onion loaf too was soggy, greasy & under cooked, obviously from frozen. Sweet potato fries were overcooked & had no flavour. All our meals were a let down in some respects & I have to wonder what has gone wrong since our last visit in early Summer (2021). Not in a rush to eat there again.

A modern restaurant with parking available. The menu choice is good, with the emphasis being on steaks. Overall, the food was tasty and well-cooked. However, I'm not giving it a 5* because I feel it is expensive. I'm glad we had been given a voucher as a gift! We ordered the bread plate which was 4 slightly toasted sticks of bread and 2 slices of rye. We were hoping for a selection of different breads. We asked for a cocktail that "wasn't available" which seemed odd as surely these are made on request. We received a warm welcome on arrival and noticed that most of the staff were upbeat and engaging customers in conversation. However our waitress wasn't so chirpy and, whilst she wasn't rude, she wasn't particularly friendly. Overall a pleasant enough evening. Would I rush back? Probably not.

Great food and brilliant service. We were given advice by our waiter on how to have our particular steaks and the best sauce for dipping chips (beef dripping) and both suggestions were absolutely spot on. The decor was nice too and had an upmarket feel to it but without being stuffy. I would most definitely recommend this restaurant either for a romantic dinner for two or a whole family drop in for lunch with the kids, just like we did. We all loved it, so it's a big thumbs up from us!

Booked for 8.30 on a Saturday. It was busy but there was next to no delay in ordering and serving! We were served by Lucy who was knowledgeable, friendly and gave just the right amount of attention without feeling oppressive. All the other staff that we encountered were happy, polite and made the experience such a pleasure. I am a massive steak lover/foodie and it is rare to go somewhere to eat and LOVE everything but we did! The starters were delicious, just the right size, the steak and sides were amazing and cooked to perfection and the puddings were out of this world. Oh the beef dripping sauce ...... Soooo good! The prices, in my opinion, reflect the quality of not only the food but the setting and the service. It is true that you get what you pay for and for me it was worth every penny. I just hope that this isn't another one of the great restaurant finds in our little town that disappears in a year or so. Keep up the great work M&C, we will see you again soon!

Went here on a Saturday evening. Best thing is the service. Could not fault it. Probably on par with the service I've had in America. Very attentive and know their stuff. I had high expectations for he steak donr get me wrong they cook it just the way you want and give you great suggestions on what it should be cooked at and what compliments it etc. But I felt it was a but overpriced for what I have had elsewhere. I know you're probably paying for the service and how its cooked etc but I chose a salad instead of my chips and got half a lettuce and some tomatoes. Where I have been previously I get a full on salad bowl. It was lovely but for the price I would probably go elsewhere and get a bit more food for my money.

This visit was the 2nd visit to Miller & Carter Bedford restaurant this year, and again, what an amazing experience. My wife took me to this restaurant for a birthday meal and we were served by Elise. She was absolutely brilliant. Polite, courteous and very bubbly in her approach to serving us which made our experience even more enjoyable. Although we did have a great meal overall, it should be mentioned that when we were asked if our starter was alright, I was compelled to relay that there was in actual fact a problem with it. However, Elise took ownership of the problem, dealt with it straight away relaying the issue to the manager, Stephen, who also dealt with the issue immediately, without fuss, and without even me asking, he replaced the starter. That was exactly how it should've been and this act of service left us feeling completely satisfied with the whole meal. Customer service is vital for any business, especially a restaurant, so whenever any problems arise, for whatever reason, a customer should really be left feeling that their custom is important, no matter how big or small the bill comes to. Well thats how we were left feeling by the overall experience with the food, and, of course and especially the customer service. The food is consistently fantastic, and quite reasonably priced considering the quality. It's not cheap, but worth every penny. We used to find a Miller and Carter on our route home as a self-reward whenever we were forced to go on the M25, but now there's one in our home town we can go whenever we want. The service is good, and the staff are very knowledgeable about the menu. Service used to be slow when the restaurant first opened, but has got a lot better so it's worth a return visit if that put you off before. It's the best place I've been to in Bedford for steak.

This was my first visit to a Miller and Carter restaurant. I was quite pleased with it. Tried the Tomahawk Steak, it was excellent. The staff were also very good and fully on the ball, the restaurant was busy so if they maintain this standard they will do well. My only minor issue, and not uncommon in restaurants elsewhere, the table was too small. The steak we had came on a big platter, with the side dishes our drinks and condiments I spent the entire meal worried something would end up on the floor. Fortunately it didn't! I will go back here.

A nice ambiance in this restaurant in the centre of Bedford. The service is very good and the food generally is delicious and and of good quality, but not always consistently so. Prices are hard on the pocket so not suitable if you're on a tight budget. Bookings can only be made online and a charge of £5 per person booked is levied which is refunded by deducting from the final bill. It is a very popular eatery.

My fiance and I both enjoyed our meals, we both had starters and main course. She had a well done rib eye and I had medium rare T bone steak. As good as it was I was not overwhelmed with delight by it and feel that along with the side dishes that it could have been better, especially for the money you pay. Together with drinks we paid £70. I feel that the salad with the starters could have been more fresh as it looked dry and discoloured and the chips were over cooked. Would definitely go again and look forward to trying a different cut of steak. The scallops were delicious.

Nice decor but pretty average steak. Ordering was very confusing, waiter/waitress has to run through four or five different choices with every person for every aspect of the meal. My fiancée and I went here for dinner to celebrate the anniversary of our engagement and what will also be our wedding anniversary in a year's time. I ordered a rib-eye steak medium with the beef dripping sauce and a side of garlic sautéed greens which was brilliant. My fiancée ordered a fillet medium-rare with the beef dripping sauce. Unfortunately the quality of the meat was not what you would expect from a fillet steak and the thicker parts were not cooked enough. We raised this with our waiter and he dealt with our complaint professionally and to our satisfaction. It was a very nice surprise when they brought us two small cookies with 'Happy Anniversary' written in chocolate sauce. This was a lovely gesture and shows that they do actually read the special requests/comment section on the booking form.

Went in for lunch and ordered off the fixed price menu. I had the steak frittes and my wife had the sea bass. The steak was cooked to perfection and tested absolutely delicious and my wife said the sea bass was just as good. For dessert, I had the Apple crumble tart with custard and my wife had profiteroles. Again, it was very tasty. We both had a non alcoholic cocktail to drink and our total bill came to just £30.30. The staff are very good and the decor is high class. While the main menu is expensive (most steaks are over £20), we will definitely return for a special meal out. Don't forget to ring the bell too

Average service, we had to ask for cutlery twice after having our starters and no napkins when we were seated. Slow staff. The food is good, not a lot of it though (small portions, not so small price tags), the side of coleslaw complementing my burger was literally a fork full. Needs improving, especially the service.

The steak was great, cooked to perfection and sides were wonderful. Starter was pretty disappointing (refridgerated butter so you couldnt spread it) and cold toast. Probably wouldn't waste my money on that again. Steak was 9/10 though, probably the best I've eaten in the UK so can't complain about that.

We came to the restaurant for a Birthday meal with our Grandson and Family. During the taking of our choices my Daughter in Law changed her mind on her main course. This small change apparently caused all sorts of problems in the kitchen, the waitress tablet goes straight to the kitchen.. . To cut a long story short we had to wait a very long time for each of our courses. The Manager was extremely apologetic and reduced our bill as compensation. I cannot believe however that such a small change caused our extensive wait of over 2 hours for a 3 course meal. This needs to be looked at... The food we got was delicious and the staff were extremely helpful and apologetic. We will have to think carefully about coming back for another meal.

Absolutely superb food but it's not cheap. Have found service to be really slow and one member of staff was outright rude to us. If you don't mind waiting for very expensive food and can put up with intermittent service then you won't be disappointed. We did go another time after the rude experience but despite it being lunchtime with only 3 other diners the service was still painfully slow.

My partner took me here for a surprise. It was the first time we had been and it definately wont be the last. Connor was very friendly when he greated us and showed us to our table and this was then followed by our waiter for the night BRUCE who was extremely attentive and gave advise when needed about the cuts of steak. I Can't fault the food or drinks they were outstanding!, however when I paid at the end of my meal the manager took my payment didn't return with my change and instead put it in his pocket... If is was a few pounds I probably wouldn't have minded but my change was around £10, I had to walk up to him and ask for my change back. Before I walked up to him I tryed to get the orther staffs attention but they ignored me and walked right past. Food & Drinks 100% recomend but they should hire some new staff and better management.

I often eat at Miller and Carter but at the restaurant near my home location. This is the 3rd time I've eaten at this particular restaurant and have to say its consistently good. If I were to compare the two restaurants, I'd have to say that M&C Bedford has the edge, by quite a long way. The chefs are to be congratulated, excellent consistent cooking.

Really nice food combined with an amazing service makes this place a treat to visit. One issue is that for some will be the price but that seems unavoidable to offer the service that they do. Another is the reliably bland view into a street but the interior makes up for that.

I was in Bedford to build a lounger.co.uk.on the riverside opposite WaggaMammas i think it's spelt. Anyhoo. I was staying at the Verve Hotel. Now, I wasn't supposed to be staying there, but the bloke who was went home every weekend, so I or someone else got the room. Now, being bored of wetherspoons(which is one of the best wetherspoons if been in). I ventured into town. I came across Miller&Carter. I entered, they didn't turn me away, they sat me down with a glass of wine to wait for a seat. Being summond forward, I had one of the best meals I have ever had. ( and I've eaten one of Peter Davie's Roast Potatoes). The staff are excellent, service is brilliant.the surroundings are tip top. Paid a small fortune, but! Man oh! man . That meal was a good experience.. To quote The Verve."I'm a lucky man".
