Reviews of Priory Marina Beefeater
G. W.
I liked it especially because it is situated within the Priory Country Park and there is a good walking route available to exercise off the extra calories you've just eaten 😀 The food was good what I would expect from the Beefeater chain. The service was exceptional really lovely table waiter and Manager. I will definitely be back. Thank you
R.
Good location from one of my preferred restaurant chains…. Reasonable food quality, prices could be lower to be more competitive…. Anyway, special thanks to Joe who looked after us

The restaurant itself is beautiful. The staff were very friendly and professional. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end.
The wait time was very long but the place was fully booked. The lamb starter was dry and overpriced. I tried the steak. It was bland, no seasoning whatsoever. Very fatty steak, not trimmed at all. Finally, for £22, I was expecting more quantity in terms of garnish.
My friends that tried the burger and the fried chicken were content with their food.
Finally, at no point did they ask us if we enjoyed the food. Not even when the server took the starter only half eaten.

I really could not rate any lower as I have been eating at this restaurant for the last 20 weeks.
I have been staying for business and could have easily gone elsewhere to eat.
The food is really good, I can safely say that as I have had everything on the menu. To have good meals for 20 weeks is a testament to the kitchen staff.
The service is efficient and the staff are super friendly. Obviously I have got to know them over the 4 months I have eaten here but from my first day to my last they have been super.
Also I would like to mention the lady at breakfast, always greets me with a smile and looks after all the customers in such a friendly way which you need first thing in the morning.
I can honestly say I have really enjoyed my time eating and drinking here and will really miss all the staff.
I will however need to go on a bit of a diet but that’s my own fault as I just cannot resist the desserts.
Thank you Bedford Beefeater it has been an absolute pleasure meeting and eating with you all.
C. P.
Very good venue for a family breakfast with the children eating free.
All you can eat from both the continental side and also the full English menu with lots of choice and freshly cooked.
If there is a downside it would be the hot water for tea and coffee (juices were available) the hot water was by a pump pot thermos type thing which takes a while to fill the cup. I understand that health and safety must be followed, but there must be a better system for this, but all round it is well worth it.
Good parking and plenty of seating.

Came here for a bite to eat before cinema. Service good, but portion size very small. Get more chips at McDonald’s! Over priced for basic food.
S. R.
Nice place to stop for a drink or meal after a walk around Priory Country Park. Welcoming and attentive staff and enjoyed my meal.

Just popped in for a beer. Very pleasant but only one server on bar duty, do had to queue for five or six minutes as it was lunch time and quite busy. Having said that, the young lady serving was very professional, helpful and cheerful.

The spinach and ricotta cannelloni was so dry and rubbery had to return it. It was replaced with another one which looked better but definitely was not in a creamy tomato sauce as advertised on the menu, and was still not very good.
We also requested extra chips as portions very small. They never did arrive.
However on the upside the pub is in a beautiful setting. Perfect for a drink.

Pretty poor, stayed for 3 days in the hotel next door. Ordered a medium steak one night that came out very well done, ordered onion rings with my main another night that never showed even after asking where they were when the mains arrived too. On the plus side the burgers are very n8ce and the portion sizes are good.
B.
They didn't have tbone steak, kitchen got the orders mixed up and gave me a medium rare when I asked for medium well done. Lovely waiter and good promotion at the time meant the meal wasn't that much in the end, hence the 3 stars - otherwise I would have given less
D. W.
Unfortunately after an hours wait the food arrived cold. My fries were obviously a microwave version , very soggy . We were told they had run out of mash potato at 1pm on a Sunday. Strange phenomena as surely a staple ingredient.
Our party member that had fish said the batter was dry and fish tasteless. The only redeeming feature of the afternoon was our charming waiter .Otherwise a very negative experience. We won't be returning in a hurry.
B. B.
Don’t understand what people are complaining about. We both had lamb which was cooked exactly the way we asked for. Venue is clean, serving staff lovely, service prompt, food tasty. Thought it would be like harvester but is way better.
N. H.
Lovely place to sit & have a drink, nice & cool in the warm weather, good sized outdoor area. Could not believe the girl was on her own behind the bar on a busy Sunday lunchtime though, the queue was literally out the door at one time, she was very good at her job.
t. m.
Really enjoyed our lunch outside by the lake. Samuel the barman was friendly and helpful with drink ideas on such a hot day. Lovely spot , will return soon.
P. C.
This was an amazing experience ans our main server was great. We felt welcomed and attended throughout the whole meal. The food was absolutely excellent and thebsteak was cooked as requested. Although the prices may be a bit more, we felt we had got what we were paying for. The rest of the staff were very pleasent and the atmosphere was great.
We will definatley be back when in the area again!
Blue light card accepted.

On my own with my pups, was able to place order with staff outside very attentive, was busy but they were on top of it. Food didn't take long to come out, water bowl for pups and salad was lovely and fresh.
T. C.
Great bar/Restaurant in an absolutely beautiful setting!! Lovely outdoor seating area with kids play area. Beautiful walks leading straight from the outdoor area to walk off the tasty food 👍😁🥰
K. G.
We are regulars at Beefeater. The garden area/outside dining has recently been renovated and it's lovely.
We always have lovely staff here and there's always something to choose to eat!
S. B.
Disappointing. Went for Sunday lunch to celebrate a 50th birthday. Table was sticky and had a puddle but not cleaned when pointed out to staff, had to chase our drinks order. Table was booked for 1.45 pm. Food wasn't served until 2.45 pm even though most orders from our party were for the basic Sunday lunch. Won't return in a hurry.
K. W.
Went there with family on the spur of the moment as it was a lovely day to sit outside and have a bite to eat. When we settled on what we wanted i wentf to order our food and drinks. There was a young barman working (on his own, might i add) who was getting flustered because the barrel needed changing, then the till froze, so by the time he went off to find someone if was over 20 minutes by the time our order was completed! We had numerous things to eat but the 3 ladies each chose the large salad course of which neither of them hardly touched because it was tasteless and had hard root ends and very bitter leaves in it! Also af this point i went back to the bar to order them something else. We also had dirty cutlery and no napkins. The young man who originally served us was the one who came outside to our table. I proceeded to show him how the salads were disgusting (which he agreed) and could i have a word with the manager. He responded with this instruction and said he would get the manager asap. We were having our drinks and realised 25 minutes had passed and no sign of the manager! I went inside and asked to see the manager. A lovely lady came out and when I explained everything she was totally unaware of my complaint and that the barman had finished his shift and didnt say a word to anyone before he went home! This lady sincerely apologised and proceeded to give me a full refund of my original order which I thought was amazing. I made a point of saying that I had worked in hospitality for years and that the barman to be made aware of his mistake. All in all it hasn't put me off returning and hope ti visit again in the near future.
P. K.
The food good but they forgot about me. I was ok my own because I work away alot ate here a bit and it was always the same they forget about you. Food and drinks were always late and the staff always apologised but it just a while to order and get my food and drinks. The place wasn't particular busy and I noticed that they also forgot about a couple that where sat in front of me. The tables that had alot of people sat at them seemed to get the service.
M. L.
From the moment we entered the Beefeater at the Priory Marina in Bedford ... We were welcomed with a friendly smile & seated. Our Waitress AJ was absolutely amazing... Very attentive, friendly & also very welcoming. AJ ensured that all our dietary requirements were met & continued to assist us in anyway she could although the restaurant was busy. We will definitely come again. Thank you AJ & continue to stay blessed.
K. B.
This was a second visit after several years...the first being a let down with long waits for food and then inedible food.We decided to visit again as,we were in the area and were welcomed by a member of staff and seated and offered drinks....we waited some time before my husband going to the bar and getting our order himself. We continued waiting for a member of staff to take our food order and had to call staff member over to give our order.Again we were waiting some time before food was eventually brought out but when it did eventually arrive was hot and tasty. We decided to order desserts and again had to call staff member over to give our order to her?All in all, food good and well presented but shortage of staff made it a less enjoyable experience, maybe third time lucky...we shall see.
S. B.
This restaurant and pub is in a great location on the lake and is really enjoyable in the summer with a large garden and loads of outdoor seating. Food is offered outside too but has to be ordered at the bar rather than there being table service. The car park outside is a decent size but be aware it’s very tight! Inside there’s two distinct areas, with a restaurant side and separate bar section, suited more for drinks and snacks.
The restaurant offers table service and has large tables suitable for groups as well as couples and single diners. Everywhere is really clean and the open kitchen is reassuring. There’s a good range of options on the food menu with some cheaper deals available during the week before 6:30pm. Our waitress was really friendly and was prompt with drinks orders. Soft drinks are sold as unlimited refills, and throughout the meal top-ups were proactively offered and brought quickly.
I went for one of the new starters on the menu - chicken and duck wings. Two chicken wings and three duck wings made it a good size and the sauce wasn’t overpowering, with some chilli slices adding a nice little kick. The chicken and chorizo pie was offered with a choice of potatoes or chips, and came in filo pastry. This made it rather unique and one of the sub-600 calorie options on the menu. Again, it was a good portion size and was tasty. The premium surf and turf steak came with good sized prawns, loads of chips and the steak was cooked nicely to the order of medium-rare. Unfortunately the promised calamari wasn’t present and hadn’t been replaced with anything else. Sauces were offered by the waitress and brought quickly in small pots.
While eating the mains a new waitress checked on our meals and introduced herself as taking over from the previous girl who was finishing her shift. This is the first time I’ve had the experience in such a restaurant which was really nice. Unfortunately though at this point (around 7pm) the place was starting to get a lot busier and the service started to suffer as a result.
It took a long time for desert orders to be taken and the ice cream took ages to be brought from the kitchen. After the meal it seemed to take forever to get hold of anyone for the bill. It doesn’t feel like it was the fault of the staff though, just not enough of them to go round so many tables.
Overall we had an enjoyable early evening meal here. It’s far from being the cheapest option in the town and did end up feeling a little steep for what we got. But the quality of food was good and it was relaxing, so for somewhere different it’s worth a visit if you don’t mind the bill.
L. B.
Friendly staff but as usual short on some key ingredients to make up the advertised dishes. I’d have thought making up 2 identical burgers would be easy but missing the bacon and cheese from a burger shouldn’t happen.
A. C.
Had a steak, chips, onion rings, very quick service and steak cooked medium rare perfectly. Onion rings good too. Nice pint also !
M. O.
Really love garden area with a nice, separate outside menu. Lots of tables and lots of space. Great food and really reasonably priced drinks to
n. k.
Was at Priory Marina 7th through to 10th Oct.
Wednesday's steak was fine,no complaints and Yes!,Samuel has one hell of a sense of humour, thus the marmalade.
Desserts were to die for,Boy!,is that Sundae cold 😂
Friday's Trio of Fish was bloody lovely,my compliments to the Chef. The Salmon was nicely cooked, the Sea Bass was 👌 while the Hake was a little on the small side but hey ho!.
5 star Table Service from Steph
We had the "All You Can Eat" Breakfast on 3 mornings and it IS a case of "you order what you want from the menu"
Table Service from Bethan faultless.
COVID Secure measures are in place, although some customers prefer to ignore things like arrows on the floor and hand sanitiser.
Could do with a bell outside to let staff know you're outside waiting.
As for the toilets, they're fine,no issues at all.
J. M.
They didn't have any lasagne or apple pie left, which we wanted and had run out of pink gin, Victor was our waiter he was brilliant.
p. w.
Moving to the area and have been here 5 times over the last couple of months , 2 course lunch menu is very good value and my steak has always been good and the last time excellent!
The 5stars are based on eating at a beefeater and price payed.
E. M.
Lovely meal in beautiful surroundings, a bit short staffed but all good humoured even under pressure.
R. C.
In the current climate the social distancing and alike was in place and well executed. The food was what you would expect from this type of establishment. The steak was slightly burnt with a chared taste and the calamari that came with the surf and turf was particularly bad, tasting rubbery with burnt batter. Service was on point, hats off to the waitress.
W. C.
We went here for a meal on a Saturday afternoon and we loved it. The atmosphere was nice and chilled and the food was beautifully done. Before we sat down we noticed some writing on the wall about how their steaks are just how you want it. We joked about it being a big statement... we soon shut up! My friend had a steak and she said it was perfect. I had the house stack burger and it was delicious. And as someone who loves mac and cheese, their mac and cheese side was right up there!! The staff were amazing. There was a young lad especially, I didn't get his name, but he in particular was an absolute darling. Very polite and clearly takes pride in his job. Even if it includes cleaning up spilt peppercorn sauce! We were very happy with our experience and with the nice weather coming, we will definitely be back soon.
P. a.
Had the lunchtime menu, very good value and the fish was huge. Would go again.
E. H.
Nearly all the tables outside needed clearing, attaracting swarms of blue-bottle flies.
We only stopped for a drink and i must say, the Moretti was ice cold, well carbonated from clean pipes into a cold, clean glass: 10/10
Wife's cocktail was excellent too.
P. T.
Had breakfast here. I had veggie version, other half had full English. Service was good. only comment I would make is I don't like hot water from flasks for tea. It never seems hot enough. All in all a nice brekkie followed by walk around priory marina.
m.
We first found this place about 6 years ago, it was a jewel. Clean, fantastic service and really good food. We've been back several times but everything about the last visit means we will probably not go back again.
S.
Had a lovely lunch with my mum, we both had Chargrilled prawns, absolutely delicious 🤤
R. S.
Came for a drink today after a funeral of a best friends dad. Our server AJ was absolutely kind and welcoming. Excellent service, big difference from some of the miserable service you get elsewhere.
m.
Great place to hang your mates, grab a lagar and some wings. Loved the wings sauce! They even made my daughter fresh chocolate milk!
B. J.
Great prices, great staff, great food.
C. D.
Food good, pleasent staff. Although ran out of hand sanitizer in entrance and toilet tissue in ladies. Toilets need a little bit of attention but clean
D. B.
Items on the menu were not available, staff looked like they were running ragged, but it wasn't "busy". Not sure that I'll do Beefeater again as the last few times have not been the best for quality of food.
S. W.
Always a good meal
D.
Breakfast just about perfect, staff fantastic, relaxed atmosphere
B. L.
Very good food, excellent friendly and courteous service,no rush and lovely relaxing lunch
K. H.
Food good. Staff are friendly and welcoming.
Pub garden pretty in the evening with the lights.
L. G.
Met for breakfast with family good value for money all you can eat cooked breakfast, staff were friendly but seemed run off their feet maybe a shortage of staff.
r. b.
Good value if you have vouchers to use 😁 and friendly staff
N.
Nice food, but slow. I suspect understaffed like many places in UK since Brexit nonsense.
J. H.
Very very short staffed (tbf maybe COVID related) but the staff that are working went above and beyond. Food was all good quality (we had brunch) other than the pancakes that were still slightly frozen (I put this down to the low staff numbers)! The kids eating free made it very worthwhile. Overall, it's what's you would expect however the quality of food was definitely above par for a similar style place.
M. C.
Popped in for breakfast on route to meetings, what a great find. Spotlessly clean, well presented and feels like someone cared about the place. Staff were friendly without being intrusive, cooked breakfast was great and plenty of it. Coffee machine tasted like it was cleaned regularly and was set to a good blend for breakfast. Value for money is fantastic. All in all, if I’m in the area again I would definitely be going back.
E. T.
Slow service. Long waiting times for meals. "The kitchen wasn't aware" of our desserts ordered from the kids set menu (after 3 prompts they finally arrived after 50minutes of waiting).
C. o.
Lovely dining experience ... The waiting staff were very patient with our large order (13 people) ... the food was adequate, fish was slightly undercooked and the portions were smaller than I would have liked .... Just a small warning the puddings are slightly over priced . Over all a wonderful night out for all sizes of groups.
K. G.
Service was very good and staff were friendly. Food was OK. The whole place is in need of some TLC.
C. C.
Based how expensive everywhere is now a days our two meals were not bad value for money and also very nice.
D. W.
A typical Beefeater menu but we were delighted not to be badgererd every two minutes by waiting staff asking if everything was ok. Surely once per course is adequate. The service was speedy and anything no longer available was mentioned when we were first seated.
T. A. -. F. L.
Food quality is OK. Staffs majority are nice & friendly. Outdoor space is superb! Especially in a warm sunny day,
T. W.
Lovely outside space, much improved. Drinks reasonably priced
S. L.
Disappointed... no fish and chips available with poor excuses why; no bottle of chosen Pinot Grigio available; no vegetarian bake; which only left one vegetarian main option; the other part of the Main Prawn dish didn't arrive at all; then the dessert got mixed up and brought and left at the wrong table...... when we notified the waiter; he picked it up and took it where it had supposed to be taken!! Not hygienic!!
J. S.
Food was great, the service and wait times was really long.
M. K.
Nice restaurant near the priory marina and park. Stopped for a steak meal, part of the beefeater chain. Been a couple of times at lunch both times pretty empty. Last time we went we were advised the free refills of chips has been taken off, we have never been told this before and we were charged the full price. When we queried this we were told they been stopped due to shortage of chips/ potatoes. It would have been helpful if we had been told this when we ordered. Other than that surprise a nice meal at an good price. ( lunch menu)
W. B.
Food was great and came out quick. Staff could've been a bit friendlier
P. L.
great food good price
W. R.
Really nice choice of drinks including cocktails. Menu has a good selection and food was very nice.
T. S.
Food was best in Bedfordshire, staff are amazing, and the restaurant itself was beautiful. I could not have asked for better.
J. B.
Didn't eat here but had a drink overlooking the lake. Great staff, friendly, no brandy!
O. M. [. &. I.
Quick lunch visit and was surprised to to see a good selection of meals on the day saver menue. As it was a Friday most of us chose the fish and chips which came with bottomless chips. The chips are amazing!
Great food, good service and value for money.
M. C.
Lovely food and friendly service. Nicely air conditioned.
S. T.
Went for a meal with friends, nicely spaced out, waiter service was good, lots of sauces and drinks accommodated for quickly.
Menu for non meat eaters was limited in the mains section but ordered a Sloppy Joe's which was more than enough. They could probably capture more of the market by having more alternatives and the menu was chips, chips and more chips. What happened to boiled potatoes, jacket or mash as alternatives (or did I read that wrong?). Not a vegan warrior but unable to eat meat products so happy to sit in a restaurant with others.
Quite an expensive choice compared to food 'retailers' but worth a try.
G. C.
Rather poor service and pricey food. Quite a few items on the menu were unavailable.
E. P.
The views, the tranquil… good coffee, wood garden picnic tables
G. F.
Friendly reasonable price. Toilets let's it down floor puddles under urinals.
A. V.
Had a lovely day out with family and good quality food.
s. c.
The service was slow. Saw manger eating food out of the kitchen. The food took for ever to come out but could see it waiting to be brought to the table
S. C.
Beautiful food, decent portions, friendly staff, pleasant time in waiting and good prices
D. “. R.
Very friendly, professional staff, price is very reasonable, will be going again.
N. k.
Decent breakfast at a competitive price. Friendly and helpful staff.
V. F.
Disappointing food and service, the lamb roast came out with griddled lamb which was black and hard, returned and replaced (bit better but not great). The service team are run ragged and therefore our starter plate was only removed when our main arrived and we had to ask for the bill twice, so all in all not a great experience and will probably wait quite a while before going back.
J. T.
Always consistantly good quality food and service, not the most exciting menu but that's not the point!
T. W.
We've moored our boat here for a couple of nights, out on her for a couple of months. A meal out was a good idea, food was of a good standard, though it would be easy to run up a big bill, it's quite expensive if you go for the steaks, though drinks were lower band pub prices. Our server 'Lee' looked after us well and the wait for food was only a few minutes. Would certainly visit again if in the area.
K. L.
Just been there for a meal, first time into a restaurant in 15 months. The service and keeping to the rules were very good. The prices have gone up and the portions have halved in size, if you choose to have a desert think twice on ordering the bomb it's a total waste of money. Thanks to the waiter Mark who gave us a great service.
D. F.
Called in for a light lunch, sat in the garden as we had the dog with us. Great service from Samuel, order was taken promptly, drinks arrived quickly and the food followed soon after, piping hot and well cooked. Would definitely return again when we are in the area.
M.
Great food served by smiling talkative staff. No long waits for food to arrive
J. L.
Bloody lovely meal with son daughter in law and three grandkids (well behaved for once),how this place has changed one for the good recommended.
N. G.
Great food and atmosphere and customer serivce, Christmas dinner was lush x
B. D.
Can see they are doing their best in such hard times during covid. A little slow at getting you served but once the food was ordered up things were much better. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The whole dining experience has changed for both the staff and customers it's just nice to see everyone trying to continue normal lives through this. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was excellent too.
T. A.
My steak was delicious. The other people eating with me all said that their food was also good. The manager was pleasant and seated us promptly, he was courteous and checked in with us during our meal. The waitress who was serving us however, needed to learn to smile and be a bit more jovial! The decor and tables etc were as you would expect from a chain restaurant and the price too. Would eat there again.
P. C.
Not to bad typical beefeater menu good service clean
O.
Great staff very friendly, popped in for a drink and felt very welcome
F. R.
Lovely venue, with seating overlooking the lake. The Covid measures they have in place are really good. The prices have recently gone up by the looks of it and food is quite expensive for what it is (£12 for a burger, £6 for a dessert).
The best part of our visit was the lovely A.J, she provided such excellent service and was so friendly. We hope we are served by her next time we visit!
S. F. P.
We ordered food to take away. Great service from AJ who went above and beyond. Thank you! 😊 The place was covid safe, AJ prepared a bag with all necessary cutlery, sauces, napkins, salt & pepper, double checked everything we ordered and even helped us to carry the order outside. Customer service was spot on and the food tasted great too! Will definitely go back!
S. L.
Excellent service. Good food and wonderful ambiance. Nice music, scenic, spacious and comfortably safe, clean and modren. Very courteous staff, especially Jacob who was working our table. Well done guys! And keep it up... 👍
Must add, it is an excellent pick from Ruth. One of its kind.
m. c.
Great food but queueing for beer with only 1 barman working is very annoying.
S. A.
Bit wary as no staff were wearing masks. Doors were wide open so plenty of air going through. Staff were efficient. Food was good and didn't have to wait long after ordering.
R. H.
Although our waitress was fantastic, and the setting is lovely, the menu is poor, especially if you are vegetarian. They have a £12.99 menu for 2 courses. Portions sizes are small. Meals from the main menu are expensive for what they are. We went on a Monday so it wasn't busy, but service was slow and we were there for 3 hours but being 5 friends celebrating a birthday we didn't mind. If you just want basic everyday food then it's OK and the chips were lovely.
N. S.
Fantastic location and a really comfortable place to meet friends for a drink
V. R.
Wonderful lady on the till, great sense of humour and customer support
R. S.
Great. This is one of the nicest pubs in this area. Good parking facilities and a lovely park round the corner to burn off those calories!! Really nice decor inside and roomy. Good friendly staff and food service is great with good choice and taste is good too. Loyalty scheme is a nice bonus. Would certainly come back again!
L. U.
I went with a group of 3. The fillet steak which I had was amazing. My father had the rump steak which he enjoyed. Unfortunately, my mother's rib eye was very tough and extremely fatty. I am giving this 5 stars as our server was absolutely brilliant and did not charge me for the rib eye. Drinks can be a little bit pricey, but had an good time. Thank you for your quality service.
J. C.
Really great service. I went there for a couple of hours in the morning while my car was being fixed locally and during Covid. They were so attentive and pleasant, let me work from my laptop in there, offered to let me plug in if I needed, well done. It's right near a lake and small marina so if you fancy a quick walk it would be nice as well.
J. K.
Fun little stop for dinner especially if you like steak...
The service was charming and the kids had a great time.
F. D.
Good food, friendly staff and a good pint.
g.
Had a lovely meal and was well looked after by Rudie and his team. Great service and very good with the little ones too
L. H.
The last time I was here, the food was good and the decor fresh. Today the food was still okay but the decor is very tired. New carpets are needed and a duster to remove cobwebs would be a good start.
There needs to be more staff serving. A long wait for meals but the staff were very nice when they came by. No offer of a refill on drinks until the dessert menu!
They also need to bring back soft 'whippy ' ice cream....
Z. N.
Great lunch at the beefeater and walk round the marina.
j. f.
Staff were friendly, although we had a long wait for the cooked breakfast, but it was very tasty, good selection if you wanted continental
D. S.
Nice place bar didn't open till 12 no notice of this only went for a cuppa and catch up but they let us stay and chat until bar open so that was nice as it was raining and cold outside
D. I.
Great food and acceptable prices... 4 people at least 10 12 beers and two glasses wine plus fritt starter And 4 seconds of meat on 150 p.. You can smoke at the outdoor table. Maybe they could speed up the times especially x a beer.. But despite everything I would stay here again
S. H.
The staff we're nice. But the food was poor. We were waiting a while to get our food (it looked like a lot of tables were too). I'd ordered a medium steak with garlic prawns. The steak was incredible tough and my "garlic" prawns were just boiled prawns, no flavouring on them at all. And they had been cooked so much that they had gone hard. I recieved 3 prawns for an extra £3.99. I think that's ridiculous. It cost over £1.00 per prawn. I wouldn't go back or recommend this place.
R. G.
The ambience is good with top ten music playing. We had a drink in the bar before going to our pre booked table. We had to wait a while to be seated but that was lack of staff rather than it being busy. The food was hot and cooked beautifully. We had a great time.
S. L.
Yummy huge Sunday roast. Great staff! Also voucher codes used no problems. A very enjoyable outing.
F. R.
Beautiful place to call home REALLY LOVE IT THERE
M. M.
Most enjoyable. Delicious food and excellent service, special mention of Ajay who served us and the Manager who welcomed us. Will certainly be returning. Thank you.
A. V. C.
Nice place to have a good meal with the family. Suitable prices and comfortable facilities. Really recommended.
K.
Not quite up to its usual standard on this occasion. We chose the festive menu. The waitress took away our starters without asking if we'd finished eating - I had but my friend hadn't. Not a good start!
The bill was presented to us before we'd asked for it - we were still considering whether to have another drink. All in all, service felt a little rushed but the standard of food was good enough for this type of establishment.
J. S.
Great location. Outdoor seating area is vast and a stone's throw from the riverside.
Only ever had drinks here as on the one occasion I wanted to eat which was a Saturday lunchtime in February, the restaurant was full and the garden was obviously not a good idea.
Good selection of wines and beers and standard pub fare, as can be expected from a Beefeater but the location earns points here.
N. S.
The meal we had was very tasty and enjoyable . The staff were efficient ,welcoming and polite. We were served by AJ who ensured that we had great service and nothing was too much troublec
G. H.
OK. Torn seating. Nobody came to ask how the food was, if they had of asked me I would have been able to tell them that there were some items missing from my plate, A pot of coleslaw and lettuce in my burger, I know it is only a small thing but, I like to get what I am paying for. Instead I was asked at the end when I had finished my food. I was offered a pot of coleslaw but what is the point when you have finished your plate.
Another strange thing was, we had to take our own plates from the waitress and distribute them around the table when we had finished they were just collected up and taken away.
K. H.
We went in the bar this time to eat as the restaurant was extremely busy! I had the barbecue ribs, which were delicious!
This Beefeater is set in a beautiful country park with lakes, marina river, play areas, cafe and plenty of lovely walks. This is highly recommended!
S. M.
Service was slow and the steak tough. Yes a well done steak does take longer to cook than a medium rare one but thirty minutes! Really! They did up grade the replacement but this took another thirty minutes so every one else had finished and was on the coffee. It's the first time in ten years of visiting that we have had a problem - could have done without the comment. We'll probably visit again but only because of its location definitely not having steak though
A. M.
Nice food ,friendly staff ,nice surroundings
M. L.
We arrived here as a party of 16 adults and 3 young children to celebrate our great grandson's 1st birthday, Sunday 1.10.17. A great success catered for well by super staff. Food was excellent and we thought reasonable value for what we had. Would have been 5 star but badly let down by the clean but shabby toilet facilities that are falling apart. Such a shame
K. B.
Fab friendly staff who were able to serve us food even though they were very short staffed. Nice food and reasonable prices, recommend.
J. C.
Lovely location, huge beer garden and can't fault the staff and service received. Good value for money too. Will definitely return.
C. K.
Nothing spectacular about this place. Not enough staff on, or others too busy standing chatting to take the order.
L. M.
We came mid-week for a late lunch (about 2pm). Food and service good for the first half of the meal, but as we found at the same sort of time before, suddenly the place seems to clear of staff and those that are left begin to busily prepare for the evening. This makes for a very slow pudding/payment.
N. F.
Nice breakfast 😁, we later decided to have dinner there. We were served by Natalie who was very attentive, helpful and polite. Really enjoyed our meal and at an amazing price as it still classified as day time at 6pm! Would definatley advise people to go there. Great views and easy to get to. Can go for a lovely walk afterwards too 🎉
A. R.
Great service and nice outdoor seating area overlooking the priory lake. At this time, restaurant was offering a cut down version of food menu but still had a good choice of items to choose from.
R. N.
Great choice of beers in a good bar and restaurant! Excellent service and good food!
J. J.
Used our 40 0/0 off voucher and had a lovely lunch with my brother and his wife. Especially like the mini pud and Costa coffee to round off our meals. Served by Julie who is always very pleasant and helpful .
A. S.
Very nice experience. AJ looked after us all really well. Service was great. Food was hot and tasty. Quick too. All round good job. 😁👍
L. M.
Nice pub and restaurant in a great location, good food and drinks although arguably somewhat overpriced.
R. L.
Long long queues in the bar. Not enough staff serving
A. M.
Nice place for a drink after a long walk
R. S. B.
A reasonable selection of beers, including two non-alcoholic (one was a cider). Beefeater menu has definitely improved lately so it's a shame they are funny about ordering off the main menu to eat in the huge outside area. They want you order off a smaller selection, more expensive outdoor menu. Why? It's all of 10 metres difference from indoors to outdoors. Quality of food that we had (from the indoor menu but we ate it outside, how naughty was that) was good. Service was pleasant apart from the aforementioned ticking off we got. Come on Beefeater, sort it out.
C. C.
Nice meal - what you'd expect from Beefeater
M. C.
Great breakfast and excellent location
S. B.
I had an excellent burger with really good triple fried chips. OK, it's maybe not cordon bleu but what they offered was extremely well done. Lovely friendly, helpful waitress, nice cold pint, or two, of Stella just what I needed on a lazy Sunday afternoon 😀
m. P.
Great food and friendly staff
M. A.
It's a Beefeater, a, self fulfilling prophecy at a busy location...
A. N.
Lovely cobb salad, very tasty. Quick, friendly service.
F. B.
Everything is good just one little thing the guy was at the front taking orders was unfriendly........
s.
I have visited this place a bit ago for a small meal and was not very satisfied with experience or our deserts. First of all we were ignored by the door, even though the several staff members have seen us waiting. Skip forward to the apple crumble pie, which was made with conserved peaches instead and we were not warned about it nor it was listed on the menu.
I hope it is not normal occurrence to just replace ingredients in the meal.
E. H.
Average Beefeater restaurant, I've visited a couple of times however I have added an extra star because on my last visit they hosted a quiz night, this appears to be a regular feature on a Monday Night. Hosting this made for a much better atmosphere in the bar area.
J. G.
Food was good service a bit slow & our table was sticky with ring marks from the drinks left by previous customers.
M. V.
Great staff and atmosphere, nice food, one more star could be achieved by reducing the serving time, it took about 1.5 hrs. to be served an hamburger after the order was taken :)
J. H.
Nice location with the beef eater food I would expect
R. W.
Seems pricey to us. We only stayed for drinks as menu was too costly. Example 8oz fillet steak was just short of £20. That may be a fair price but we just went in to have a quick cheap meal. Paid for the three half pints cider, Beck's blue and j2o £8.36 and moved to the hungry horse. £7.29 8oz rump. Suited our budget better.
J. T.
I was taken here for dinner by a friend. It wasn't bad plenty of food on your plate. But not very good with a blind friend who wanted to have a tab open to have drinks with our meal, the bar staff didn't understand that my friend was blind and he would have to give me his pin number but the bar staff insisted that he would have to put the number in himself but he couldn't see!
k. c.
Been to a few beefeaters but this was one of the top ones. Service was on point! Gentleman served us quickly and made sure we were happy. Food was served quickly and hot, tasted excellent, compliments to the chef! We will defo return next time we come to Bedford.
L. B.
Lovely staff as always, terrible food as always. Got the babies meal 40 minutes before ours and only cause we asked for it after watching it sit under the hot lights. Everyone got freezing cold chips. Birthday girl had a chicken salad which was chicken and lettuce leaves. Nothing else!
E. N.
Brilliant service (thank you Kelly) and delicious food! It was a bit pricey but I didn't even have room for desert so I would say it was worth it. There's enough parking (I was there for dinner) and I would definitely recommend it for meat lovers!
M. R.
We always feel well feed, the food is not epic but it certainty is not bad or average considering the prices. The staff have always been friendly and attentive and the place is clean. The £9 breakfast selection is great considering what you get at Toby Calvary or say Tesco café for a £1.50 less, and the steaks are very nice considering you can get a fillet 8 0z for £19 with unlimited chips and salad dressing. My only gripe is I hate the carpet looks shabby, and in some areas id improve the lighting but other than that well worth a try and will be back again.
k. d.
Worth the meal deal....Great supper, delicious breakfast all cooked well....most of all the welcome from the morning team ..thank you!
H. W.
This is a great restaurant. It is a bit pricey but, the food is delicious. They have a loyalty card which you can use to gain points. This adds up to get free food or even money off vouchers. I like that they now introduced a new menu which is slightly cheaper too.
K. C. B.
Easy to get to. Located close to the marina, so it's nice to go for a walk after having a meal. Staff were friendly and polite. The food was your standard Beefeater. Would visit again.
V. B.
This is a beefeater and so the menu is the same as the rest of the chain. Lots of good food to choose from. Staff were really friendly. Food came out really fast and was lovely. Not the biggest restaurant so I'd advise to book especially for weekends.
J. H.
Went for dinner with a friend on a friday night. No booking and at peak time.
We were seated straight away, introduced to our waiter for the evening and drink orders were taken straight away.
The service was fantastic! My friends burger came out not how she ordered it and they sorted it straight away. Our Pepsi refills were refilled even before we had asked.
Brilliant Friday night in there.
I think our waiter was called Robbie.
A. B.
Good service, nice views from the outdoor seating area and not too expensive either! Food came quickly and staff always made sure we were happy. Will definitely come back again!
d. b.
It's ok. Steak was cooked perfectly although a bit chewy. Service was ok. Waited 15 mins for our drinks to come and 30mins for food in a quite lunchtime restaurant. Staff friendly and helpful.
Would come back but not in a hurry
K. B.
Lovely place to sit and have drink. Plenty of seating outside and inside. Has a standard pub variety of food; burgers, curry, steak, chicken breast. Allows dogs outside. Would be nice if they were allowed in the bar when the weathers rubbish and cold given its location is popular with dog walkers.
J. S.
We enjoyed a wonderful freshly cooked breakfast with a fantastic range of continental choices. The Manager and all the staff were friendly, helpful and informed. We will definitely return soon; a great way to start the day.
B. D.
Good food and prices, nice atmosphere too. Service was friendly and efficient.
D. C.
It's a chain restaurant. So you know what you are getting. Fresh cooked food. Arrived hot. Very pleasant waiting staff. Only complaint is that the food was slow and it was not busy as we were early in the evening . Hotel is next door. Plenty of car parking.
K. M.
food was lovely and great service
L. T.
Beautiful. Lovely stuff. Good food clean and tidy.toilets are ok
H.
This eatery is in a beautiful setting in Priory Park. It's lovely to sit outside on a summers evening. It's a bar as well as an eatery and serves all the popular drinks you can buy in any pub. The food is good and reasonably priced and ranges from light snacks to main meals. Their focus is on grilled meat and international foods such as fajitas. The staff are friendly and helpful. Dreas code is casual and there is wheelchair accessibility. Their marketing says it's good for kids but I went with adult friends in the evenings, however I didn't actually see any amenities geared specifically towards kids. It's worth paying a visit for the setting alone.
I. W.
Getting a drink at bar is garbage , never no one there
Waiter service is good when you are at a table. After that its non existence ,,,
G. K.
Hood food but service slowed after main cousin
M. K.
Wonderful place with stunning views, you can even spot a ducks visiting here 🦆
V. S.
Very nice meal in a nice friendly atmosphere, with polite and friendly staff too.
A. G.
Had breakfast here after a stay in the premier Inn.
Fantastic waitress who, even though she was busy, was really friendly and happy.
A. W.
We come to priory beefeater quite often. It can get very busy in the summer months but there is plenty of seating and parking. The food is prepared and cooked nicely.
There are some lovely walks around the lake if you like a walk.Great for are four legged friends.
D. A.
Very good food thank you
G. C.
Beautiful location on a Sunday afternoon spoilt by a mass of uncleared tables. Also customer service would be improved by restaurant staff acknowledging prospective diners instead of leaving them at the counter like lemons!
i. w.
Excellent customer service from both staff at breakfast today. Breakfast was good value and well cooked
C. N.
Great choice of food . Service great and good price . Will be back again
m. b.
Excellent food and service.
S. M.
Good place for family meal. Food was enjoyable. Frozen yogurt had ice crystals in it and expensive drinks, glass of pepsi £2.50. Good table service. Would go again.
M. M.
Good prices excellent service
K. B.
This place when they get it right it is fab. Sadly not all the staff show the same enthusiasm. Just got breakfast but half the peopld order is wrong and now half the dinners are sitting with no food whilst the other half are eating. One staffs reply to us was "Well this is what you ordered". Such a shame as we as a family like the place.
F. I.
Served by a lovely lady called Tjay she was so helpful and welcoming which made our dining experience more memorable and comfortable
D. D.
Pleasant staff, welcoming, only had breakfasts, great selection and tasted great.
M.
Much improved since last visit. Went for lunch and pleasantly surprised, with the price and food on offer. Chips just right crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside. A really pleasant experience.
J.
Food not bad, poor service spoiled our experience though. Seems they are short staffed !
S. J.
Very friendly staff, good food and nice surroundings. Breakfast is very good, and Steph a joy to deal with
A. C.
A much better experience than our last visit, there seemed to be a lot more staff, all of whom were friendly and efficient! Now just to make a side salad a mixed salad and not a few green leaves, half a tomato and one slice of cucumber!
A. N. B.
Great surroundings. Service is slow, and don't expect to always get what you ordered! Some waitrons have been there for decades, and their tiredness shows. Food mediocre.
D. T.
Generally the priory is ok. You know what to expect with a beefeater. The only gripe I have is Sunday breakfast. It needs more staff, the continental selection needs to be better stocked and they need better gluten free options.
J. J.
The food is quite good in general, some times the staff can be a little slow getting to you but overall I would say the place is good. Looks and feels welcoming.
K. T.
Lovely food good menu ..really clean and run well ...service is great staff no the menu and help ..all ways willing to help you friendly and happy ..location is beautiful we went for walk after wards..we sat at table for ages after we had eaten we was so chilled n relaxed lovely lovely place
R. “. S.
Its ok, starting to look dated now, food was warm not hot, service was good, and staff were friendly, shame the carpet is filthy, and smells a bit like an old cafe. Needs a refurb!
e. t.
Very nice place to eat. It was a busy night so more staff could of done with working to just help with table service and meals coming from the kitchen
J. D.
Friendly service and well prepared and cooked food. Comprehensive menu and reasonable prices. We do come back from time to time. If we had any complaints, we wouldn't come back at all.
M. B.
Trio of fish was so overcooked. It was not sitting on the hot plate, so chef needs to take a look at prep. Service was fine otherwise.
P. G. C. c.
Not bad. Its been alot better hence the reason i revisited. Wasnt even that busy but wasnt the best and the service was off. The manager is looking at the floor and everywhere else rather than engaging with the customers. A fella eith glasses. Sorry but not attentive or super helpful.
P. C.
Friendly staff. Good service had steak skewer for starters then mixed grill.large portions. Nice location. Stopped over on the way back from another Wembley disappointment with Sunderland
S. B.
I think the chefs do the very best with what their given to work with , breakfast actually really good
K. 1.
Good food and great friendly service will come again.
G. J.
Excellent fresh food and the service is spot on I definitely will go again
R. B.
Had steaks here they were really nice great service here certainly improved since last visit before covid
C. S.
Friendly staff, reasonably priced for available menu.
A. F.
truly 5 star....the calamari was the best I have ever tasted, the steak cooked to perfection....fries fresh and crispy.well done chef! service fabulous with friendly staff
L. W.
Although the food was nice, the menu was quite basic and quite expensive for the portion size
S. G.
Staff are always great and remember drinks orders which is nice and goes towards its friendly appeal
Menu has updated and is so much more modern and current than previous years.
R. F.
The marina is a lovely place to spend a warm afternoon. The Beefeater restaurant has quality foods on its menu which can be walked off around the lake and boatyard.
Alternatively, pack a picnic and take advantage of the large grass areas to relax with friends.
J. D.
Great value, clean, good breakfast. Lovely staff; always helpful.
A. S.
Great food lovely staff and great prices
N. B.
Great food, great service and a very reasonable price. Nothing is too much for the staff. Keep up the good work. We see you again soon.
