This isn't a bad spot. It's very convenient to other restaurants and pubs in Cathedral Quarter. It's clean and attractive inside and the service was very good. Atmosphere was quiet, but we had to book very early because of availability. The menu is fairly run-of-the-mill, but the food is good, served reasonably quickly and tasty. We did think it was a little pricey, but everywhere is a bit like that at the minute. In short, very good, not fabulous. Don't be afraid to try it if you like the look of it...

Great cocktails (all £9.50), and the chicken wings were moreish. Some tapas items were a little underseasoned but easily resolved by adding table salt.

Visited with a friend for lunch. The food including three tapas for £11 and a Creamy Cajun Chicken Linguini were delicious. Service got a bit slow towards the end and found however a 10% service charge had been added to the bill which we hadn't been made aware of beforehand so its losing a point for that.
M. S.
Really tasty meal, varied menu. Staff were really helpful and attentive. Nice setting in Cathedral Quarter.

My dad and I stopped here for dinner after the pub. All I can say is wow! We both had the ribeye with ratatouille, WOW. The food was top shelf and the service was even better. I am so sad that we only have one night in Belfast!
T. D.
Great menu with delicious food. First time diner and already planning to return. There was a good choice of meals of different sizes and types which should appeal to all palates. Perfectly presented and lovely ambience.

It was my first pint of Guinness in post pandemic time.
Needless to say it was amazing. Restaurant's crew is just amazing, we visited along with friends. Decided to get something to eat.
We have went for their tapas menu,
* CRISPY PORK BELLY BITES, APPLE COMPOT
* CRISPY CHICKEN WINGS, SWEET CHILLI SAUCE
* DEEP FRIED CALAMARI, GARLIC MAYO
* MINI FISHCAKE, TARTAR SAUCE
* DEEP FRIED BRIE, FRUIT CHUTNEY
We additionally added a
SPICY CHICKEN WINGS BOWL - 8GBP
Each Tapas is GBP 4, but it is so worth it.
my favorite were calamari and wings.
There is also a lovey back garden, with some interesting murals and ashtrays if you into smoking.
Pizza was also lovely, fresh and tasty. We had Margarita, over all very clean place, close by is the car park and literally you are just few clicks away from lovely umbrellas :)
Unfortunately, I was so hungry, that I did not take any pictures of the actual food items, but that just says it all. It was a delish.

What a lovely experience, found by “accident “ but not regretted.
Impeccable service, the food amazing.
To be back

It used to have s good lunchtime menu but this seems to have been withdrawn. Prices have increased (£8 for a starter) so lunch is very expensive. House wines start at £20 but are good. The food served was generally good but the lamb was chewy, therefore disappointing. Can't see myself returning for lunch will search for a more modest lunch menu.
P. B.
Excellent service and food. We had the lunchtime menu at £11 for two courses which was excellent value. The offer runs to 5:30pm week days and we arrived at 5:15pm on a wet Wednesday November afternoon.
The restaurant was quiet but it was warm, cosy and welcoming.
The goats cheese starter was as good as it looks in the photo. I had excellent chicken for the main and my wife had the Cod, washed down with an excellent Pino Grigio.
Well worth a visit in the busy Cathedral Quarter although looking at the menu an evening visit would be much more expensive although we would revisit anytime.

Great place to eat or to enjoy some drinks.
Nice food and really friendly service. French are the best ;)
E. T.
Amazing food and absolutely incredible service ❤️ will definitely be back!
J. H.
This was a amazing spot. The food selection was fantastic and service was top notch.
G. M.
Menu wasn't great but the food was good so no complaints at all.
B. B.
Loved the tapas. So tasty and well done. Great location too.
J. D.
Great food and good choice of Vegan starters, mains and desserts. Staff were helpful and chef prepared a salad specially for my wife (as she really wanted a greek salad but wasnt on menu.
R. K.
Outstanding as always
M. L.
Food is excellent, prices are quite expensive in comparison to other catering premises nearby but it really depends on what you want.
T. B.
Delicious! Treated wonderfully even though they were short staffed and without a reservation.
E. H.
We had starters, main course and drinks, great atmosphere, great food.
Coleen give us a great service and nice welcoming friendly atmosphere.
Definitely would recommend and come back. 😊
T.
Good atmosphere, and good staff. We went in with a larger party, 10 or so, and had a very good evening. Waitstaff was very good. Food was good and presentation interesting. Would go there again.
P. M.
In a city where last minute tables are scarce this was a good find. Good menu and wine list. Owner helpful and attentive - fixed a cold main course promptly - just caused by kitchen being overwhelmed by too many walk ins
K. H.
Very pleasant restaurant in a trendy part of Belfast. I went with a large organised group and there was a limited menu choice. I had the pepperoni pizza, which was excellent: very tasty and generously sized. The drinks were good and the service excellent and really friendly. The place has a casual, friendly atmosphere that is very welcoming.
l. b.
Tapas plate was lovely and good value. Dessert was sticky toffee pudding and a bit disappointing, small portion a bit chewy and dry definitely not worth £6
Service excellent
m. b.
Great food. very good staff who were friendly and welcoming. The only fault we found was the unannounced 10% service charge on the bill which we didn't discover until we had left
b. r.
Great food and quality service, will be going back for seconds.
J. b.
Food was very well presented but both of our starters were not hot enough. Staff extremely friendly. Decor superb
A. P.
Very nice restaurant, friendly staff, nice food although food portions are small on some of the dishes. Me and friend of mine enjoy the evening.
S.
Badly in need of a Lunch Menu. We visited at 1pm on a Monday. To be seated with a full A La Carte Menu, very expensive - £16/20 per main course. Would be OK if it was an evening out for dinner, but definitely not a Monday Lunch. The Tapas are well priced but lacking in variety. Maybe 5/6 items.
A whopping £5.50 for a Guinness. Ouch. Service and Staff fantastic though. And outside seating area very well finished, top marks for that setup. Would I come back for a Lunchtime bite? Unfortunately not.
R. L.
The staff were very polite and welcoming. Food was next level Sunday roast and every mouthful was enjoyable. Loved the decor looking forward to our next return visit. Tre bein 5 🌟
B. M.
Declan works hard and is a pleasant guy. The service was perfect! We'll be back.
A. R.
Good choice on menu. Great service.

The terrific tapas at 44 Hill Street, one of our favourite spots in the Cathedral Quarter, is a celebration of the flavours of the Mediterranean, using local products from independent producers in a selection of modern small plates, ideal to share with friends and family.
The history of the building in which this vibrant restaurant is housed ranges from a bonded warehouse to a butter merchants, and this is evident in the industrialised interior, from the exposed brick work to the metal beams dating back to the last century. There is also a wonderful new outdoor space for al fresco style dining.
We ordered a selection of tapas to share, and all of them were tasty, authentic, and great value for money. We especially enjoyed the Crispy Goat’s Cheese Fritters With Lavender & Honey, The Crispy Pork Belly Bites with Apple Compote, the Deep Fried Brie with Fruit Chutney, the minty vegan Tabbouleh, the Calamari with Garlic Mayo, and the Mini Fishcakes with Tartare Sauce.
J. C.
Great spot. Stopped in for late lunch. Burger was great. Look forward to going back and trying other items on the menu.

I - The place
A French & Mediterranean bar + restaurant that didn't leave us impressed.
II - The Food and mood
The first thing that were were surprised by when we entered was how packed the place was. Particularly during these times, I would have expected more distancing, particularly for our table which was VERY close to other guests (near the kitchen).
The staff was pleasant, but for many weren't wearing masks. The chefs were also not wearing any protections (and were pretty loud, particularly when you understand French), which was surprising when you see so many other places going really far to protect people.
Beyond that first impression that wasn't ideal, we were still curious about the menu that had some interesting offerings (despite having a fair amount of typos, strange for seemingly French owners). We started by the crispy duck and the goat cheese balls, which were decent but not particularly striking - too much sauce with the otherwise interesting duck, and the cheese balls were OK despite the interesting honey. We then followed by the gnocchis and a lamb special of the day. While the lamb was interesting, with a very nice mash and sauce, the gnocchis were a catastrophe. I had read fairly bad comments about them online, but my partner needed something vegetarian and that was the only main option (if I remember well). While the comments were mostly pointing out the quantity, I was mostly shocked by the quality - dry, chewy, a real disappointment not elevated by the surrounding ingredients. The vegs coming with the lamb, on the side, were of good quality but not cooked enough and drowning in butter.
Overall, if felt a bit of a shame as you can see there is a will to try things differently, but some points are just not acceptable for the price demanded. Hopefully there was the Eat out to help out discount leaving us with a bill around £50, but for £70 I would have been fairly bothered.
III - Anything special?
No.
IV - Verdict
All I want is to support restaurants, particularly during these hard times, but one cannot serve gnocchis like this, and especially not for £16. I still give 3* for the staff (that should be protected!), and some of the dishes.

Loved the look of this place and had to try!
Tapas quick and tasty! And the duck was exceptional!!!
M. C.
Was absolutely great! The service was exceptional, the food was great and the prices too! The atmosphere is very welcoming and its lovely to have a meal in and spend some time. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to be back!

S. C. (.
Absolutely amazing. Will definitely be back in a heart.

Had the house burger and fries...something quick on the way to a show!!! Well under cooked....and I like my meat medium to rare!!! The weird thing about this meal was that it was dry and tasteless except for the smokey sauce...service was slow ..had to get up and order our own drinks!!
It's a shame as we had been here before last year and the food was amazing...we had tried several dishes..staff where attentive...! Wouldn't take a chance at this place again!!!🙄
A. M.
Food was quality, service was excellent and in a really relaxed setting. First time and it won't be our last!
D.
Fresh Tapas great service good atmosphere
K. S.

C. M. G.
Went here for valentines dinner and was quite impressed with the tapas menu. We tried a few different dishes and was satisfied with the portion size and price point. They also have s red and white non alcoholic grape juice which as a non drinker was very exciting for me. However it is not a dealcoholized wine and doesnt taste of one it was still enjoyable
J. L.
I really enjoyed the relax atmosphere of the restaurant. Our group of 4 found it reasonably priced. The menu is small however the food is excellent and the staff are very patient and helpful
C. H.
Lovely restaurant layout. Service very slow....not busy early Saturday evening....order taken quickly.. .long wait for bread and oils....even longer wait for main dishes....unfortunately mains were not warm and plates virtually cold on arrival....the lamb tagine had great flavour but not warm as expected. My hubby had the smoked duck and dauphin potatoes....unfortunately again on the cold side....sometimes the simplest thing can make it great. Make sure to serve hot food hot and warmed plates!!!

Stumbled across 44 Hill Street on a wet Monday in November and was pleasantly surprised that the kitchen was still open as it was mid afternoon. They had a fantastic value Express Lunch menu which I found difficult to choose from as everything sounded so good! 3 courses for just £15 or less of you only want 1 or 2 courses. The food was absolutely fantastic in quality, presentation and taste. The restaurant is a lovely setting and whilst it was unsurprisingly quiet on a Monday afternoon I would imagine it would have a great atmosphere when busy. Great selection of drinks from the bar and wines available by the glass. Highly recommend and will definitely try and go back when I’m next visiting Belfast.

Bit disappointed. Thought there were tapas but they are only a starter option. Food was ok. My brother ordered chicken chorizo burger, v dry and he didnt eat more than one bite. Ours was not hot (duck breast and sweet potato dauphonoise) Want to praise more as we were great fans of Bastille, but cant. Service and staff very friendly but food a big let down. Sorry!
A. F.
Staff were super friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. In a great location, will definitely be back!

Stumbled into this place as an escape from the craziness of Culture Fest last week and was so pleasantly surprised. Perfect sharing portions that were so delicious that I wish I wasn't sharing. Have been dreaming of the little honey goat cheese balls since we left. Overall, great.
