Reviews of Mourne Seafood Bar

Excellent restaurant, starters, main, wine and coffee at a good price. All dishes were very good and the quality of service was very good and attentive. Had booked the night before, since on first pass by it was booked out. The range and presentation of the dishes was excellent, started with mussels in garlic and finished with salmon with a mizo dressing. The wife had crab claws and sea bream. All were well cooked and very tasty, highly recommended.

Ate here at 8.30 on Saturday night, pleasant atmosphere, good attentive service by some lovely ladies.
I had the Curried Monkfish which tasted so good my wife said she wished she had ordered it, so I gave it to her in exchange for her Fish and chips which I was happy to have anyway as the batter was superb as was the fish.
Food excellent and a nice calm dining experience.
Loved it.

Really good food at a fair price, and very decent portion sizes too. The seafood is fresh: they had some pretty good fish tacos and loaded fries, but I would really recommend the seafood chowder as it was incredible (comparable with the clam chowder you get in San Francisco)! The staff were friendly and accommodating, and service was pretty quick.
4* because my parents got Norovirus from the raw oysters, although 60% of UK-grown oysters contain Norovirus (Not joking, look it up), which is something we unfortunately learned after the fact. So +1* for local sourcing, but -2* for its unintended consequences.

Top quality food in The Shack! Would recommend the fish tacos and scampi. Nice outdoor seating area with heaters and one of the best Irish Coffees I've had in years. Will definitely be returning.
C. B.
Beautiful as always. The chowder is my favourite and I get it every time I'm in. I recommend it to everyone. I was just in time for the early bird menu and so ordered a delicious mussels in a tomato sauce with a chunk of bread and some chips. The cocktails were delicious and very strong, I recommend the Watch the Birdie or the Gut Punch Zombie. My partner had cod and chips and said it was the best he has had in years. Trying to bring him over to eating more seafood so where could be better. Still couldn't get him to try a mussel but maybe next time.
C. C.
Had the seabream and house pale ale. Absolutely fantastic on both counts. I usually never order the same thing twice but I'd gladly have this again. Lovely chilled vibe inside. Friendly service. I'll definitely be back!
K. S.
One of the best seafood restaurants I have ever been to, service was amazing from start to finish, food was incredible (fresh, local, bit portions) and price was more than reasonable. Would HIGHLY recommend.
j. b.
Took mum here for 75th birthday in beer garden. Under cover with heaters mounted by tables. 3 drinks, 3 starters and 3 mains came to under £90.
This was a Monday at 1.30. Not too busy and child friendly. Food was fresh and well cooked as usual. Would recommend it.
L. H.
Delicious food, friendly staff and a great ambience. Had a fantastic evening here, would thoroughly recommend.
S. T.
Excellent service and very tasty seafood dishes. We loved everything we ordered. We tried the Japanese dressing oysters, chowder, seafood casserole and lobster. Everything was amazing!
S. L.
Really great food with a very relaxed vibe. Small menu but good variety so something for everyone. Staff were all great.
K. M.
Amazing👌... My partner tryed the lobster for the first time. I had the muscles both beautiful 😋
E. C.
Go here for seafood, you have no excuse. The tastiest place for seafood in the area. Can't believe I never went sooner.
L. C.
First time to dine here after the relaxation of the lockdown. Lovely seafood chowder, casserole and oysters and the steak (for the non-seafood lover in our group) Unfortunately they ran out of quite a few dishes for dinner time because of the bank holiday weekend but food is still great. Very friendly service too.
T. Y.
One of the best restaurants in Belfast. We dined outside Al Fresco. Friendly service. Had the chilli squid and spicy korean prawn-kimchi for starters, followed by Lobster dog with fries. All delicious. RECOMMEND.
g. l.
The staff were very helpful and we were able to get a table later than planned. It was well worth the wait! An amazing meal for a surprise day out. Thank you so much!
E. R.
Amazing venue with very tasty dishes. Their crumble could be a bit better (to sweet, not enough crunch), but I have no complaints. When in Belfast, book a table at Mourne.
J. B.
I’ll give the food 6 stars the service 5 and ambience 3 only because we had a table right behind the front door stand with a giant printer right in front of our faces. Mussels were spectacular. Salads great. I’m an Italian food junkie and I had the monk fish over mushroom sauce and I’ll tell ya if I had to pick my last dinner on earth that one is up there. Wine list good not great. Prices great our whole meal with all the above and a bottle of Spanish red table wine was 80eu. NEED RESERVATIONS DONT WALK IN. Even if you make them same day.
D. M.
Absolutely outstanding. The food the staff and the whole experience were exceptional. We will definitely be back. Our waitress Emma was so efficient and very friendly.
R. P.
Good food at a fair price for the quality. Service was mixed but we accounted that to visiting on a Sunday night. Servers and kitchen were accommodating of dietary requirements (gluten-free).
K. Q.
Crazy good! Seriously top-notch world-class seafood.
J. B.
We booked but were told we hadn't so they stuck us on the second floor right beside the toilets. The starter's were amazing, main course not as good but not bad. The server's upstairs were excellent
P. A.
Tasty fish chips and peas in the Mourne shack on St Paddys day. The tartare sauce was delicious too. Friendly and helpful staff and I would definitely return but would love to try the indoor restaurant next time. Looking forward to my next visit🤗
R. B.
They are part of the extwnded #EatOutHelpOut scheme which is a +1up already. The food is definitely superb! I was craving for fresh seafood and they delivered! I'm allergic to day old seafood and having no allergic reactions is saying something~
The wine is also great but I still suggest the bar tap pint of Guiness as a partner...
I'll come back again the next time I'm in Belfast and maybe try that mouthwatering Surf and Turf 🤤🤤
M. E. T.
Fabulous time last night. Smoked salmon Mac n cheese is awesome. Cap on the Wall band was great. Highly recommend.
M. M.
What a wonderful experience. Voted the best place in Belfast for Fish & Chips - AND a Guinness. I had a wonderful experience with my wife there.
h. l.
The restaurant is quite famous, and obviously it deserves the reputation. Oysters are good, fresh and not expensive. Chef’s special smoked salmon perfectly balanced the salty of salmon with potato salad. And the seafood linguine is the best, cause it is not only tasty but shell free! Love this place!
A. M.
Hands down one of the best grilled salmon entrees I’ve ever had. The Irish leek and cabbage were quite tasty with the salmon. The prawn Mac and cheese was also phenomenal. The seafood soup was great. French fries were typical fries. Pleasant atmosphere and excellent customer service. Reasonable prices. Gets crowded quickly.
J. K.
Great seafood. Relaxed & friendly atmosphere.
J. B.
I picked this place to celebrate my partner birthday during our stay in Belfast. I can’t stress enough about how good the food in this place is.
Oysters were so fresh they reminded me the one I used to have at the market in Nice when I was a child, I had the best chowder of my life and the fish soup was amazing. The atmosphere is great, informal but intimate and I am so glad we came here to celebrate this occasion.
I would strongly recommend to book a table as the place is tiny and really popular among locals and tourists.
S. T.
The service was lovely but the food fell a bit short I think. The salt and chilli squid was nice but otherwise I think the food was a bit underwhelming. The linguine was a bit liquidy (could have been creamier for sure) and my friend's risotto was a bit bland. It wasn't all bad but I don't think I'd return.
O. N.
We had a great visit. We came a bit early. They asked us to return after an hour. When we came back a second time, they promptly sat us and brought out a menu. The staff were very knowledgeable about each product we asked about. The waiter made a number of fantastic suggestions that proved mouthwatering delicious. They have a great bar selection. The bathrooms were especially clean. Mourne Seafood Bar does make sure that it is accessible for everyone.
A. P.
We went during the Belfast Restaurant Week event and despite the place being busy the food came out notably quick. The service was fast and the staff were attentive. Of course, the food was delicious as well.
Our bill was wrong and was charged more for our wine but the staff apologised and the matter was resolved quickly.
H. D.
Great food and service, we will def be back for more.
B. E.
Absolutely gorgeous food. If you're in Belfast and like seafood you have to go here. Really enjoyed everything from start to finish. The pan fried crab claws are really nice. First time I've ever tried oysters and after this it won't be the last. The seafood casserole was fantastic as well. Finished with a lovely panacotte and coffee.
M. M.
Lovely food and great service, wouldnt think of a steak in a seafood restaurant but nicest one I've had yet 👌, back again for the second time and got the lobster was cooked really well, and staff really pleasant
Y. L.
The overall experience here is excellent. We ordered seafood chowder as a starter, which is really creamy and tasty. The Japanese Oyster 1/2 dozen is fresh filled with natural flavour. Although salmon fillet is not in the dinner menu (normally appear in the lunch), chief still made the salmon for us. It is super tender and cabbage goes well with the seafood perfectly. The service is fast as well.
R. W.
Went for a work dinner here and was not disappointed. The staff were fantastic, really friendly, and the food was delicious - even for someone who is a bit shy of seafood. The venue is small but cosy with a very warm welcome and located in a great spot in the center of Belfast, very close to city hall.
V. D.
Very nice place with excellent service , great quality seafood. Google reservation via Google maps worked fine. The risotto was delicious but needed to he a bit more creamy. Chowder and mussels were devine!!!
D. G.
Best seafood restaurant by a country mile. Go for multiple starters rather than starter main dessert. All dishes are amazing. Highly recommend. 😋
P. B.
Always good, one of my favourite restaurants in Belfast. If you get the timing wrong you’ll have a long wait for a table.
All the fish is good. Served up with good wine or beer. Excellent service in a relaxed atmosphere.
Great pint of Guinness, always crucial.
Just an update, was in today and they have a nice Franciscan Stout instead of Guinness. Very good.
A. N.
No 1 and above all.. I ll come back.
I love oyster, I can eat a Dozen in few minutes if I would. Sooo yummy. Fresh and tasty. Good value for money. You have to book your seats far in advance. But that is very fine with me. This restaurant serves some lovely starters, good portion size for smaller size people like myself. And very good beer from County Down Northern Ireland (Fransiscan Well), very refreshing.
G. L.
We got this place recommend by our Airbnb hosts and and happy they did. We went there for a late lunch and the food was awesome. The fish was fried perfectly and tasted better than most places I've been before. Would go again definitely.
K. G.
Great experience - long time since we had been here but werent disappointed - great food and excellent service - their fish casserole was wonderful - reasonably priced - would recommend to anyone who enjoys eating fish
D. P.
Very good food, great service, cozy place. All that made my first oysters an amazing experience!
A. S.
Excellent service and atmosphere (great tunes on the sound system) and the best fish and chips I've had in a while.
A. Z.
Very tasty food and wonderful service. Small place but we got seated right away. Order seafood. Oysters are local and very fresh, and huge. Seafood chowder is some of the best we ever had. And main course fish dishes... yum. Prices are pretty good. Three starters, three mains and three drinks ran us about 90 pounds. Recommend seafood casserole (picture below).
G. W.
Absolutely Fantastic Seafood Restaurant Serving The Very Best And Freshest Of Seafood. Warm, Friendly & Very Professional Service
M. S.
Excellent food, superb oysters, very tasty dishes and a very convivial atmosphere. If you come to Belfast you really MUST have one meal here! We had a truly delicious dinner. High recommendation.
G. M.
Decent and slightly priced higher. Taste was ok. Staff are very cordial and helpful. Presentation was good. Probably wouldn't re-visit it.
M. A.
Great food brilliant service
w. a.
While I have never really liked mourne seafood bar I LOVE THE SHACK. The new menu is amazing. Lobster corn dogs blew my mind and the dirty tiger prawn fries were dangerously moreish. Great value I thought as well
M.
Had a beautiful Sunday lunch, we shared a squid starter then had crab claws and sea food casserole for mains washed down with a couple of glasses of stout. Perfectly prepared and presented, will return to try more dishes.
F. r.
Great seafood. Every part of the meal was great.
Would definitely recommend
Only thing I would say is book your table in advance...... as many people are turned away.......
A. V.
Great bar, nice food, polite staff. Next to the CastleCourt shopping centre, with a beautiful beer garden. Specific wooden style, enjoyable atmosphere in a nice day. Recommended.
C.
I ordered the crab meat with avocado on toast and the fish and chips. Service was great and the food was delicious. The crabmeat on toast was a large portion. And the fish and chips was fresh, lightly breaded and a very large fillet. I'd go back for sure and try the rest of the menu!
C.
I had ordered a cocktail on arrival which I thought was fine, but the barman who made it voluntarily came over with a new one saying he was not happy with the one he made. Fantastic service on that front. There was a delay on the hake, but we were given a free (smallish) cocktail each whilst we waited. I had the lobster which was absolutely delicious. Would definitely go back.
M. D.
Food were very good with smaller portion even you have ordered a full size meal.
K. S.
One of our favourite restaurants, service is always friendly, food & wine
always top-notch. Looking forward to visiting in the new year. Merry Christmas Mourne Seafood.
K. C.
Great value, hugh portions and great taste. Highly recommend for any seafood lovers.
C. A.
Really great seafood. We sat outside and they welcomed our dog with his own bowl of water. We had 4 starters and a main between two of us and they were able to bring them all together which made for a lovely spread.
I. W.
Very good seafood restaurant, delicious fresh seafood, good location and friendly staff. Would certainly recommend this restaurant.
D. B.
Nice place in Belfast city centre. Had some oysters and seafood casserole. Food quality is good, prices a bit expensive but overall it's a good choice for dinner.
S. B.
Incredible fish .... was in Belfast for three days and went here twice! Great for a special occasion.
M. B.
A quick bite to eat yesterday. Beautiful glass of ice cold white wine and a bowl of steaming mussels. Delicious. Served by Jade who was extremely pleasant, on the ball and very knowledgeable.
B. I.
Had a beautiful lunch here today. We arrived without reservations but the host was able to give us a table within a minute on the condition it was back 90 mins later. This was more than sufficient time to have lunch.
It was a beautiful lunch. We ordered main course mussels and spicy prawns with chili chips.
The generous glass of white wine and pinto Guinness made this a lovely leisurely lunch.
Many thanks to all.
T. G. L.
Good food, priced average, service above average, would I come back? Sure!
R. W.
Wow this place is fantastic, great wine selection and amazing food. Super fresh so glad we found this place definitely one of the best restaurants in Belfast can’t wait to go back.
v. r.
The mussels were tiny and disappointing. The lighting was a bit dreary, the service was friendly enough.
S. M.
Ate outside. Lovely food. Chowder and wheaten bread very tasty. Fabulous vegan salad. a little slow getting the bill at the end, but not a big issue. Another small gripe - the 10% gratuity was included in the bill. They might have got more if it had been optional. This might be customary when there is a large group, but for two people a bit cheeky.
S. S.
Wonderful food, really friendly service. Make sure to book as thankfully it has returned to strength as lockdowns are eased so high demand and unlikely to be able to drop in. Been twice in last 2 weeks and the bream is something seriously special
S. O.
Good seafood, service a bit chaotic. 1 Heverlee beer ordered but 2 brought. Was not taken off the bill though we sent it back. We didn't notice because at end of meal when we asked for the check they crossed out the "service not imcluded" and added on their own 10 pct. I brought this to their attention and was told this normal. However I asked another table who just got their bill and it not normal as they didn't have it crossed out. That said they did themselves a disservice as we normally leave 15 to 20 pct tip when it not included. Seems only for tourists. Good meal but this left a bad taste in our mouth. So yes the food was good, but I felt tricked at the end of meal.
M. F.
Making good use of outdoor dining space. Went there for lunch and enjoyed the meal from the al fresco menu. Chowder starter followed by a specially created 'lobster dog' like a sausage. But I felt that the skin was not nice and I would have preferred a bun or roll just packed with loose lobster meat. Glad to see it was back in business and people dining under cover but in the fresh air. Inside dining was also available but was probably booked beforehand.
B. A.
Absolutely superb fish and seafood. I had the whole sea bream from the specials menu. Just divine
N.
Amazing! The best meal we’ve had for so long - great value, brilliant atmosphere, fantastic staff and absolutely delicious food! Come here, you really won’t regret it. (In fact, you’d be foolish not to come.)
J. M.
Great seafood dishes! Tasty And a good experience. Good service! I would recommend.
D. F.
Wonderful Restaurant. Dishes were beautifully cooked & service is excellant 🍤
J. P.
I loved the prawns.
E. O.
Exquisite, delicious from start to finish, an appetizer of crab claws, dinner of salmon and a desert of apple-pear crumble, all of which was excellent.
S. G.
Food was very tasty in the shack. Menu was more fried food though and would be nice to get "normal" cutlery.
Will definitely try restaurant next time
W. M.
I love this resturant, I had the whole seabass it was very nice indeed.
A. M.
Staff very helpful, but sitting outside is not the road to good food
B. H.
The best seafood restaurant in Belfast by a wide margin.
A host of classic dishes alongside their own recipes, situated beside a much loved pub in Belfast. Mourne Seafood is one of the "must visits" of Belfast. The chowder is superb and you cannot beat a serving of fresh oysters.
M. C.
Had been wanting to go for many months after seeing the menu and never got to go until last night. The food was absolutely brilliant from the get go! We had the mussels and the prawn cocktail as starters and they were amazing. Price wise, we didn't feel robbed as the portions were decent. Onto the mains and we got the lobster and the salmon and both were cooked perfectly! We had decided we were only going to get a starter and a main, but then we seen the desserts being served and we decided we needed to try them so we ordered the panacotta and the chocolate fondant and they did not disappoint! We will definitely be back😁
M. H.
Great seafood! The squid and fish were great, chips were the only disappointing part. They were skinny fries instead of good chunky chips but still a great spot. Would definitely go back again.
A. D. S.
Excellent seafood, fresh and prepared to perfection. Reservation are a must
J. Y.
The oyster is the freshest I have ever had
But the rest of others is kind of disappointing
It’s may because we have too much expectations about it
The seafood is fresh indeed but we can’t taste it
Anyhow it’s good
J. R.
Gorgeous food, great atmosphere and lovely staff!!! Will definitely be returning and advising others to try it out
S. R.
First time here - excellent food, excellent service with very friendly and attentive staff. Chowder was fantastic to start as were our mains. Would definitely recommend and will return - a class act 👍
O. S.
Went here as I heard a lot of hype about this place. Unfortunately my group and I were disappointed at the prices and quality of food. The servers were lovely and the outdoor dining area is a great asset.
E. P.
Very good and qualitative food. The service is also amazing.
S. D.
Excellent food along with excellent service, would highly recommend eating here. Large seafood chowder could was beautiful. Will be back.
d.
Had dinner at Mourne's for the a la carte menu. Food was great! In particular, we enjoyed the korean prawns, seafood chowder and mussels on the starter menu. We also ordered the salt and chili squid and were not as blown away by it, you could give this a skip. The medium size mussels were larger than we expected. 100% recommend the chowder! Drinks were nice and staff were friendly.
D. B.
Very good service and very tasty food
F. H.
Excellent food and beverage list! Will return ;)
Q. C.
I - The place
A fantastic seafood stop, unpretentious yet delicious with a fantastic staff.
II - The Food and mood
We passed by and were curious about the place, but already had a booking. A few days later, we came by to have a drink with local friends and I was simply mind-blown by the chowder. I therefore booked a table the following Monday and was incredibly excited to try more.
And I wasn't disappointed. We sat outside as the weather was quite nice, and the furniture was both nice and comfy. They are using a bit more disposable plates and utensils because of COVID seemingly, but everything seemed recycled or recyclable, which is a good point.
The food in itself was absolutely fantastic. Simple yet excellently prepared with very good products, I couldn't have enough. We took the chowder again, followed by the crab balls, the pan fried plaice and monkfish goujons. All of it was of excellent value, prepared with care and satisfying a huge fish craving I have had for a while.
The staff was also absolutely lovely and helpful. A few wasps were bothering everyone and they assisted us all. We even got a brand new chowder after a wasp was barely on the outside of the cup, so we left an even bigger tip in exchange as they didn't need to go that far.
III - Anything special?
The chowder! A must have.
IV - Verdict
One of a few places in Belfast I would always go to if / when coming back.
L. m.
Amazing food and amazing service. All the staff were extremely welcoming and lovely, felt very safe, they wore masks and it was really well distanced with the outdoor set up. Thanks so much 😊
T. L.
Very nice restaurant with taste and fresh food. We loved the seafood mix and the drinks! Good beer bar garden. Would recommend to anyone for dining in!
L. G.
Salt and chilli squid was verging on too salty and the seafood casserole had a strange taste to the sauce (along the lines of a bad mussel?) which put my friend off it a little. Was a little disappointing as we adore this place, we've been numerous times pre lockdowns. Everything else was tasty tho and new staff were lovely. Regardless of the hiccups during this experience, we'll be back!
J. H.
Had the best time in their new, amazing beer garden. Well heated, well socially distanced and some great bites on offer. Would highly recommend and look forward to a return visit.
R. O. F.
We only had lunch but will definitely be back for dinner - great seafood
S. S.
super delicious & nice atmosphere! make sure you book in advance.
T. M.
BEST SALT AND CHILLI SQUID I'VE EVER HAD, OYSTERS AND MUSSELS WERE FIRST CLASS ALL WASHED DOWN WITH A PINT OF THE BLACK STUFF. GREAT SERVICE AND VERY GOOD VALUE. 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
L. F.
Ordered Mussels in white wine & garlic sauce and seafood chowder tonight, was absolutely delicious, packaged brilliant with instructions on how to prepare, sitting now with a glass of wine absolutely busted, raging I didn't discover this sooner, best money we have spent during lockdown, can't wait to get back to the restaurant. Will defo order again for home as well, well worth it.
p. l.
Amazing restaurant, food is great and the staff is lovely! I went first with my girlfriend, and then with my dad when he came from Spain, we loved it!
E. B.
The food at Mourne Seafood Bar is amazing and the service is great and very efficient. Friendly and excellent customer service. You are even able to buy fresh fish from the front of their restaurant. Their courses are reasonably priced and portions are very good too. Booking in advance is recommended as it is difficult to get a table without doing so. I cannot fault anything so worth a visit if you are a fish lover.
b. c.
I have been to Belfast for a business trip with my colleagues. We decided to go for a place that has good reviews and also looks local. Then we ended up to Mourne seafood.
The place is not big but it is good enough to have just the right amount of people. The restaurant is also taking reservations very seriously so we were not allowed in until we reached our reservation time.
The food is good and the sea food is very fresh. The personnel is very friendly and local and they treat you very very well. We had also amazing dinners. My friends had some alcohol and it seems that they have amazing selection of alcohol.
I am putting this address in my list and I will be going there next time I am in Belfast.
G. S.
I have heard much about this restaurant and we were not disappointed.
The food and service is excellent with food being reasonably priced.
I found the seafood chowder to be excellent. The wine list is good and staff are knowledgeable and helpful in this area.
It's worth checking that your starter and main course do not have too similar a sauce, if you want to have a varied meal.
M. H.
Amazing food. Recommended to us and very pleased to be able to get a table. We had the smoked salmon and the scallop fishcake starters. Plus the seafood curry and sea bream mains and one sticker toffee pudding. Would thoroughly recommend.
S. b.
I have visited many times over the years and always had good memories of the food but after visiting yesterday I am decidedly underwhelmed. The food was good quality but it was far too over seasoned. Way too much salt added to nearly every dish from the starters we had to the mains, even the salad that garnished the plate. Service was pleasant but not quite that good. Certainly didnt live up to the name that the place has made for itself.
J. F.
Great place for seafood. Fish and mussels were fresh and tasted great. Even the fish and chips were awesome. Small hiccup with the service when they forgot to tell the kitchen we were done with our apps, but they gave us a small bowl of chowder on the house. Overall very good
e. d.
Gorgeous food and great atmosphere and service
A. W.
A friend of mine suggested me to have lunch in this lovely place in the city centre. As soon as we stepped in, we were flooded by an intense sea essence. The choice on the menu was so good and our intolerances were taken into consideration with a prompt and kind attitude. The staff so kind, the toilets very clean, the only negative note were my mussels, so tiny and a little bit bitter. Overall a very positive experience, I would recommend this place to all sea lovers passing from Belfast.
S. B.
Such a great evening out! Outdoor setup is fantastic, food was as delicious as always, and the staff really went above & beyond. Highly recommended.
R. W.
Excellent sea food and services. Very nice dessert and beer!!!!!
K. M.
Great to see the staff going the extra mile to welcome customers back to outside dining.
Our waiter couldn't do enough for us and was so welcoming. Well done👍
T. L.
Their seafood is tremendous, despite our mussels was not well cooked.
R. G.
Great place for seafood. I visited twice and would happily go back again. Service is friendly and attentive, even when it gets busy (which it does, booking advisable). I had an excellent fish special in one visit, and the fish fingers on another. Both had a different twist on a traditional recipe with some new and different flavours but it worked really well.
Wine list was solid, and they also have cocktails. Beer list isn't great.
W. Y.
It was my first time to go to seafood restaurant in Belfast. Probably the best one in Belfast. Nice seafood and services.
A. S.
Fantastic seafood and great staff. Worth the hype and we are so lucky it’s close to where we’re staying! Ended up having 42 oysters they were that good. Also had to keep reordering the kids meals as they were fantastic too. Very buzzy and they had to turn away a number of people with reservations
k. w.
Really enjoyed the food here, i had a tasty Aberdeen angus burger as im not a fish lover and yummy dessert. It was a great feed 👌
D. T.
Our group enjoyed a very tasty meal in this small restaurant. The service was good, and all of the dishes were cooked perfectly. The salt and pepper squid to start was particularly nice, and it was very nicely spiced. We all enjoyed the restaurant, including the member of our group that did not eat seafood (they enjoyed a perfectly cooked steak).
A. E.
It's a tricky place; the staff are rude before you get in, but whenever you get a table, they can't be more friendly and caring. Therefore, it is recommended to reserve a table before going there. The food is excellent. You have a wide range of choices for from common to exotic seafood. The price is reasonably fair.
R. C.
“One of the best meals I have ever had”, I said this about 10 times in the days proceeding my meal and in Belfast style everyone made fun of me. Honestly it was. Starter, main, dessert and the beer was great. Visiting with my new bride from Canada, Belfast is my original home, and I was proud that Mourne Seafood presented what Irish cuisine can actually deliver. The only thing that I could criticize is actually quite funny. The waitress (server in Canadian) brought the first dish out and said, “fish?”... I responded “which one”, to which she replied “I don’t know”. I think they were busy and it was the barmaid that was helping to run food. It was kinda funny being asked who ordered the fish in a fish restaurant. Seriously good food and good service. Thanks and see you next year!
C. F.
Just s gem every time we visit!
C. Y. M.
Always the best for seafood. Friends from the states were visiting and left it up to me for an authentic Belfast dining experience. So, ofc I had to take them to Mourne Seafood Bar. They loved it! The food was perfect and the service was great!
G. B. N.
We went on a recommendation, and I'm glad we did. We had the salt and chili squid for starter and I had the fillet of hake amdy wife had the scampi. I really enjoyed the chili jam! The hake was perfect, and I even enjoyed the chips ( which I usually don't.). We don't drink so I can't say anything about the wines or other, but if you are ever in city centre, I say it is a definite go!!!
H. G.
Yummy food, and made a mocktail that wasn't on the menu. Recommend the lobster dog - was a bit wary but it was delicious!
P.
Good food served by friendly staff. Beware the compulsory service charge that's now added to all bills.
Z. C.
Personally I'm a seafood lover and have rather high standards for seafood and this place delivered perfectly. The oyster Rockefeller was delicious and even my girlfriend(who doesn't normally like oysters) loved it. The pasta was firm and the seafood chowder was packed with delicious bits of seafood. Overall, really nice place and will definitely come again! 😊
C. M.
Well-curated menu and wine list. Simply impeccable service. Wonderful seafood elegantly and immaculately prepared. Reasonably priced. Exceeds expectations. We never visit Belfast without lunching here.
M. L.
Best squid I've ever had. Exemplary service. Absolutely brilliant, a credit to the city.
H. M.
Fine seafood as always, welcoming staff
J. W.
Great meal, oysters and lobster. What's not to like. Great service and staff
C. A.
Went here when I still lived in Northern Ireland. Best mussels I've ever had. 5/5, would definitely recommend. Amazing place.
P. T.
Fantastic! Beautiful fresh oysters. We ordered from the pre theatre menu which was very well priced. The salt and chilli squid was perfectly cooked and the Napa slaw was amazing. Seafood linguine was delightful. Will def be back next time in Belfast.
Service was excellent but make sure you book in advance or you'll be disappointed
C. “. S.
Lovely evening here. Had the Oysters, Chowder, steak, all perfect. Great staff.
M. K.
Bit of a (delightful) surprise. This is easily one of the best seafood restaurants I've ever eaten at -- and I'm from the West coast of BC, so it's a strong comparison group. Some of the best mussels I've ever eaten... Reservations recommended, this place is busy.
M. C.
Mourne sea food restaurant is a go to place for anyone who appreciates fresh local sea food. Menu is great ,the staff are attentive . The atmosphere has a real buzz about the place. Did I mention how good the Lobster is? Wow you have to try it here.
P. L.
Good food. Very friendly staff.
located in padestrian area. street parking is limited and two big multi storey carparks were closed. Vehicle access to bar is allowed after 6pm but no parking within 3 min walking distance
J. R.
great atmosphere, excellent food and their service is top notch! It would be one of my top choices for eating out in Belfast. It's only few minutes walk from cathedral Quarter where there are plenty of bars such as Duke of York and Harp bar.
A. W.
Great service. Meals a little limited due to covid but quality good. Great for fresh fish.
B. K.
Fantastic seafood chowder which was just so welcoming and tasty on a cold Saturday in Belfast
S. O.
A must go for anyone visiting Belfast. Fantastic food, drinks and service.
Å. G.
Delightful place. The staff were efficient and effective but polite too.
The Popocini peppers stuffed with crab meat that I had as a starter took me very close to the third heaven 😳 (I came again ... 2 years later ... and had them again!.. So much wow!!!)
This time I tried the roasted fillet of monk fish. Exquisite taste. Healthy portion control.
I loved the whole "first-come-first-served" vibe.
I don't know what I was expecting but I suddenly view potatoes, bread and even tagliatelle as seafood. I guess presentation affects perception.
My host recommended this restaurant and so did Google Maps!
M. H.
Fantastic fish remarkable value 👌
L. N.
Finally made it in for lunch after trying and failing to walk in for dinner on several occasions. They don't accept reservations for lunch and we were seated immediately. Fantastic food (fish and chips and seafood chowder were especially delicious) and great service to boot. We'll be back!
J.
Always wanted to try this place but was so often packed out! Must mean it's rather special i thought. So eventually managed to get in for a meal, so long as we were quick, as the place was prebooked and they needed the table. Ordered the Salmon and it wasn't much to write home about! Looked and tasted like it was microwaved, though im sure it probably wasn't! The service was rather hurried & not particularly warm & welcoming either! All washed down by an "In House bland Stout beverage" (No Guinness!) , i mean how can an Irish Restaurant in Belfast not serve Guinness ? So was glad to leave , paid what was rather expensive for a bad meal , horrible own brand stout & rather disappointing service! I've been kind with the 3 stars, perhaps they just had a bad day! However i won't be giving it a second go
P. P.
Top food , fast service very reasonable prices
L. M.
Amazing seafood. Highly recommend the risotto.
i. m.
Amazing fish lovers restaurant.
J. D.
Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch today. Although my husbands choice was great( seafood chowder and prawn&chorizo risotto) i so enjoyed my beer battered oysters followed by spicy fish fingers. Yummy ! Still one of my favourite restaurants in Belfast and has never disappointed.
C. H.
We had a very good time there, the food was just excellent: the oysters japanese style were just as good as original, the mussels were perfectly cooked and the fondant au chocolat was delicious. Bad point is we had to wait for 15 minutes to be seated because they don't accept the reservations for lunch. So I recommand you either get there early or book for dinner.
P. M.
I love this restaurant! You will need to book if your planning to go fri-sun as that's how busy it gets! They always have a special on which is the catch of the day. Everything on the menu is tasty, the mussels are my fav!
Seafood risotto was amazing! Not bad priced either for the quality of food. They also have the original restaurant out in Co.Down which does have more fresh off the boat seafood.
A. L.
Had a beautiful meal here which couldn't be faulted. All three courses were great, and staff were lovely. Would highly recommend!
A. B.
We’ve had some wonderful meals here with lots of fond family memories. Mussels, lobster, good wine list all served by very friendly staff. Highly recommended.
c. s.
Fantastic local sea food cooked excellently and all at low prices for the quality of the food. Service is fast and highly friendly even during a packed lunch time. Beer selection could be wider to match to the food more thoroughly (as the wine menu does).
M. W.
One of Belfast gems, great place an Great staff
M. M.
We were lucky enough to dine in this beautiful place earlier today,we both ordered small portions of mussels for starters and I can say without a doubt they were the nicest we ever had,due to a illness I haven’t got a big appetite atm and didn’t realise how ample a portion is and with the beautiful bread I found the starters were enough for full meal but had ordered the lobster for mains, when I explained to the lovely waitress she got the chef to make me up my mains in a take home bag, absolutely brilliant service from start to finish, can’t recommend this place enough, outstanding food, outstanding staff, definitely 10/10,Well done
j. N. W.
From start to finish, you feel like you're invited into someone's home. They clearly take great pride in their food and their staff and it shows in the cooking. I mean good lord this is some really, really good food.
L. L.
I went to this fantastic place last month and it didn't dissapoint. Everyone that knows me know that I'm absolutely mad about almost anything that comes out of the sea. I had not 6 but 12 oysters and I could still smell the sea, lol
It was fresh, juicy and plump. I also had monkfish with this most delicious Irish mash potatoes. I'm saying Irish because mash never tasted so good. They also have a very good wine list and the one that I choose was a perfect pair for my dishes.
t.
Used to absolutely love this restaurant but worry more recently it has become more aimed at tourists. Prices are very high and portions verging on small. However, all dishes are well sourced, perfectly cooked and very tasty.
N. M.
Great food, nice atmosphere, service was lacking though.
Waited almost 15 minutes for a drink after ordering.
R. G.
Great service, starters great, main courses a bit limited. Lobster good but a smallish portion. Still everyone had a great night. Thanks to waitress who was really friendly and helpful. Still recommend as a good place to visit.
C. F.
Probably the best restaurant in Belfast, great food, good and good value wine, excellent staff.
E. D.
Really lovely food and waitstaff. Able to be seated on a busy evening even though I didn't have a booking (don't recommend that, book in advance). Would definitely eat here again. I ask my waitress for suggestions and she was spot on.
c. w.
Excellent food, great service, first class staff. Best seafood in Belfast.
P. C.
Great food, drink, atmosphere and location. Will be back
G. J.
We called in at lunchtime. Due to the Primark fire they had 2 menus on, there normal menu and a reduced price / reduced portion size menu. We had starters and main course from the reduced menu. The food was great and there was enough food. Will call again
M. F.
The best place to have seafood in Belfast! All the fish is fresh from the day and the food is really nicely prepped and delicious. Their seafood chowder is very creamy and rich, the mussels in white wine and garlic are always perfect and their fish is delight-full. It always goes really nice with a fresh glass of portuguese white wine. Better book your visit in advance because is quite popular and busy.
J. D.
Fresh oysters
Salted chill squid was nice as well.
Top class service 5 star well deserved
S. K.
Would make a trip back to Belfast just to eat in this restaurant again!! Having a vegan in our group was no problem for the chefs (once given a little notice) and every single person in our group thought their fish dish was the best at the table-we were all right 😊
J. D.
Poor service, small portions and sub par taste. I tried 2/3 appetizers (the 3rd was sold out), they were all less than appetizing. My entree wasn’t fabulous either. I expected a better experience from a restaurant that requires reservations.
V.
Was alright. Nothing really to write home about. I thought the food was a bit bland actually. :/ But the atmosphere was nice.
O. C.
Mourne offer a direct to home service which is extraordinarily good. I'd placed an order for stuff including dressed crab for my sister as a birthday present. They contacted me the day before the order was delivered to say the bad weather had prevented crabs being landed and asked whether I'd like a refund or for them to replace with other products. The fish they added to the order was well and above the value of the original order.
I work in Customer Experience and Mourne Seafood have just delivered a world class example of how to deliver a great customer journey! We will certainly be using you again and recommending Mourne to our friends and family in Ireland.
C. R.
Simple booking process, seat and served with a personal touch. I don't even like seafood and i would order the fish in this place! The steaks good too as well
T. J. A. H. B. R.
Read great things but came away disappointed. Staff good. Chowder full of meat but have tasted better from non seafood restaurants. Hake was boring! Chips nice. Didn't stay for dessert. Not interested in returning.
L. L.
This is my favourite restaurant. It never lets me down. Food is always fabulous. I'm so lucky to be able to come here on a regular basis.
s. m.
I still love this place but I have to admit that this third time wasn't on the same level of "WOW" as my other previous two. Good very good excellent quality but very little choice. We basically ended up choosing one starter and one main that tasted in a similar way.
T. S.
Amazing food and fantastic service
R. W.
Mourne Seafood Bar is a lovely restaurant serving beautiful, simple food using great ingredients. I had the mussels in a korma sauce with truffle oiled fries on the side and a pint of Shandon stout. Bliss!
M. W.
It is very rare that I review a restaurant 5/5, but I think the Mourne Seafood Bar deserves it. Whilst visiting a friend, I mentioned that I was going to Belfast for work & he told me to check out Mourne. A great recommendation it was too! My starter was a Pepper stuffed with Crab meat, which was simply superb (quite hot though!). The main was a Sole-like flatfish that I ha never heard of before, covered in sauce and mussels. It too was excellent. All in all, the best seafood I think I have ever eaten!
L. R.
Unreal !!!fresh fish and great service
d. m.
Excellent food, great friendly staff, would recommend!
J. J. A.
Great place to have food in Belfast. You should get a reservation. Food is excellent and the service is great. Salmon is really nice with the Riesling.
You have some bar close to visit after your dinner
S. N. L.
Gorgeous food, really nice staff and a lovely cosy venue! if you like seafood this is a must try! the cocktails are also pretty good
M.
Great food if you're a lover of seafood. Prepare for a wait sometimes, but it's worth it. Been here a good few times 🎣👌
C. M.
Every time I am in Belfast, this is my first choice, as I enjoy fresh fish dishes. Maybe a little pricey? I still enjoy this restaurant.
p. g.
Always reliable for good food. Outdoor service works well up, heaters etc (to Sept anyway!)
R. N.
Excellent tonite both of us enjoyed it and also club. Lovely coctails. Been there 8 times now over 6mths never dissappointed and we all enjoy friendship and hospitality. We had a special celebration anniversary dinner for us and our golf club dinner. Thank you so much ... love .. rita newberry
V. K.
Great food and well set out for outside dining with heaters. Very helpful and friendly staff.
A.
Takes time to order anything during lunchtime, staff could be about more attentive, seemed to be way too much overloaded with work.
Despite that, quality seafood, that's why highly recommended!
P. J. O.
Easily one of the best, if not The best fish restaurant I've ever eaten in. The staff are just brilliant, professional, and yet very warm and welcoming.
Quite excellent … as is their wine list.
G. W.
Really pleasant and food simply great 👍
N. P.
One of my most favourite places to eat in the world... Japanese oysters are wonderful as is the seafood chowder and everything else!! Every time is fantastic (June 2018... Back again, of course!)
T. D.
Beautiful food and great staff dishing out great service too. Very very popular place with lunchtime bookings taken and queues outside in the cold for those who have not booked - be warned! And that on a Monday too!!
L. T.
Absolutely stunning food, friendly staff. Very popular so booking recommend. This restaurant may attract me back to Belfast from Hampshire.
S. C.
Simply fantastic food well prepared very tasty great service but at a price. It was expensive yes, but for us this occasion was my birthday meal so we didn't mind paying for a great meal.
R. P.
If you love seafood this is the place to go in Belfast for the best, their mussels in garlic and cream are to die for..........and lump of crusty bread makes sure you don't miss any of the sauce!!!!!!!!! There is plenty to choose from the menu and washed down with local beer if you want..........one of my first stops in Belfast for lunch😊😊
A. T.
The ambiance was a bit functionally basic. But the food amazingly good and very fairly priced. Never been a major fish lover. But this is exceptional.
K. S.
Meals were very nice although one of our party ordered the Sea bream and had the smallest meal ever!!! Next to up the veg folks!
J. D.
One of the best seafood restaurants in the city; same-day caught fish and shellfish (sea bream is always on the menu, and is excellent), oysters, mussels. It's all about the fresh fish.
S. R.
We were happy with the service with our meal, the fresh oysters were delicious however we were left disappointed with the delivery of our main courses; the risotto was undercooked and the sauce with the mussels had been left to thicken, had split and burnt to the bottom of the pan, overall leaving us dissatisfied given the previous high ratings of this restaurant
C. R.
Lovely staff cosy place and the food was so good, so fresh amazing , if you like seafood this is the place.
k. M.
I've been in mourne sea food belfast plenty times and love the atmosphere. I would highly recommend! The food is so fresh and the staff are very helpful! I have also bought fresh fish from their shop and it was the nicest salmon I've ever had!
R. S.
Great food. Try the seabrem fish, the truffle potatoes, they have a good wine selection and desserts. Mondays are ok to go without a reservation but you might need one for the weekend.
L. M.
The food was AMAZING but the service really spoilt the experience for us. We had long waits and indifferent staff. For the cost I was expecting much better service and atmosphere but was a bit disappointed.
T. B.
Outstanding.
Food real good and staff first class.
We as a family treat ourselves to one a month.
Well worth a visit.
T. M.
Worth money great quality
I. N.
Good food, had to play the catch the wait staff s attention to get anything once the meal was delivered. Stairs is difficult if you have mobility issue. Toilets upstairs.
B. B.
Excellent seafood restaurant but also offers non-fish dishes. The rustic feel adds to the charm and it also carries a good wine list. Reasonably priced and good atmosphere
P. C.
My mate and I ordered clam chowder at same time as our wives ordered other dishes. Mine came out but no one else's. I asked why the server said it was because we split the bill so have to prepare separately. His came out 10 mins later with wives order. Mates looked a lot chubbier. Maybe I got the last of an old batch. Wife said mushu peas were cold and hard . Other than that food good.
T. H.
Really great food! Salt & pepper squid was fantastic, spicy but really well cooked. Moules were to die for, you'd in France or Belgium to get moules & frites as good as this! Loved it!
l. b.
Starter's lovely, The mains not great I got fish tagliatelle not much fish just more of soup , my partner got hake was nice but other things on the plate were cold , desert was lovely , The staff pleasant ,As we were stuck for time we did not raise the issues with the mains , I have been here a few times and I will be going again, If you visit you should reserve a table
K. A.
Service was terrible in this place .didn't even get greeted really at door was just told to follow him to the table.no smiling no hello how are you? Then waited for 15 mins to be asked for a drink I would get over it if they were busy but they weren't . And when I asked what a certain thing said in the menu I was made to feel stupid for daring to ask such a question .the food was really nice though
M. O.
Hearty roasts and seafood casseroles. I liked it. I tried a fillet of seabass grilled with a braised short rib. Mash potatoes and some roasted veggies. It was a culinary contradiction. But I liked it... Why not...
H. S.
Small and authentic bar with amazing food. We had mussels, crab claws and a fish with shrimps, all delicious. I would go there again!
B. W.
Beautiful fresh local food. Generous portions. Attentive and knowledgeable staff. Will definitely be back.
C. M.
Excellent service and beautiful food
K. F.
Superb restaurant. Wonderful friendly, efficient staff with a lovely personal touch. Food excellent. My favourite " Down Town " Place to go xx
P. I.
Best roasted lobster I have ever had!!! It was tender and buttery topped with small shrimp and garnished with fresh salad.
J. F.
We had a great meal here before and this time was just the same. Staff were friendly and attentive and food was delicious.
B. P.
Lovely food, professional, friendly staff.
P. M.
The best consistently good restaurant in belfast, well worth the visit .starters ,mains and desserts are simply out of this world, don't think I have every had a bad meal in the place and have been a regular since it has opened.😀😁😀😁😀
s. b.
Everyone really enjoyed their meals, me especially! All the ladies were lovely though there was one creepy guy walking around staring and when I finally asked for help he was a bit rude which is why I gave 4 stars...
D. D.
Great food, some fish smell in the front where they are selling fresh seafood. This can be problematic for warm days when the door is open.
Service is good
G. O.
Fantastic seafood in a great location. Good selection of beers and a great wine list, all at a reasonable price. Recommended for all fish lovers!
S. B.
Amazing seafood great oysters.

Turned up without a booking and they got us as table. Food was fantastic and the staff were great. Wish we lived in Belfast so we could go more often
a. n.
Delicious fresh seafood served in an unpretentious welcoming setting. Could not fault a single dish and our waiter advised us very well.
B. M.
Tastiest fish ive ever had. Great atmosphere
I.
Amazing food, so delicious and fresh! Fantastic staff. Definitely a must visit in Belfast.
M. C.
Great food though they ran out of things July 11 evening. Outside seating had interesting crowd for World Cup cheering against England.
J. B.
Favourite restaurant - last time birthday treat. Cost me nothing. Maybe that's why I liked it. Really good food and ambience.
S.
Simple menu, quite tasty, all very friendly, as everyone in Belfast. I had the casserole fish plate. Will defenitly come back
S. B.
Went to Mourne's last night and while the seafood was ok, it certainly wasn't great. When we asked the wait staff if they had any recommendations, they simply pointed out the different sections on the menu.
C. W.
Great selection of fresh seafoods. There's a counter at the front of the restaurant where they display their fresh seafood. Use to be in a square, but a new hotel is being built right in front of the entrance.
T. S.
Great value for money - I was pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived.
For such a small Island, it can often be hard to find seafood here.
Top choice for lunch or dinner.
A. Z.
great place for seafood lovers!
T. C.
Oysters were absolutely amazing
E. D. B.
Absolutely stunning food and great service! Definitely going back multiple times to eat everything else!

H. S.
Great food and service. One of the best. Hake I had tonight was best I've had in very long time. Piri piri prawns lovely.
B. D.
Delicious! Probably one of the best seafood restaurants I've been to. Nothing but happy with the experience and the service.
J. W.
Amazing lunch. We will definitely be back!
R. B.
The seafood is edible . A ten percent service charge is applied in this restaurant and this is reflected in the attitude of the staff who seem to remember the charge but forget the service.
B. B.
Excellent service and quality food for a fair price. The wines were also really well priced and decently selected
C. W.
Great food and service, had mussels, fish and chips and scallop risotto and all top class!
A. B.
Beautifully fresh food, starters and mains both faultless, desert was ok. Staff are brilliant, very attentive and welcoming.
C. L.
Excellent food. Great atmosphere. Very good customer service 🙂

T. C.
Never disappointed here. Staff are friendly attentive and the food is amazing.
Best mussels outside of Galway
G. L.
Good sea food and nice muscadet white wine.a pity that oysters are not served with bread and butter and winkles are just for take away
I recommend this restaurant
J. M.
Excellent food & service in bijou contemporary surroundings, albeit on street car parking is very limited ( but multi-story car park "Castle Court",nearby ).
M. H.
Always packed, if you see a line just wait. I don’t always have to wait in line but when I do, the line moves quickly. Good music!

L. R.
Good food. Order arrived and was incorrect- rectified by staff and free drinks given to compensate .meal somewhat spoilt as a result.
P. O.
Excellent food and service at reasonable prices. Small and popular so you need to book.
F. C.
Tucked away location which could have been easier to find or better signed as we walked into the pub next door. The food was fantasticly fresh and tasty though.
L. P.
Absolutely the best oysters I've had for a very long time. Superb. I had to order the same again.
C. H.

Great food, always end up getting the mussels and local stout because they are so good.

Interesting experience and informative and friendly owner, retail fish shop front, casual bar behind and further seating upstairs with cooking classes available.
