A wonderful delight of a meal (6 course dinner with wine pairing). Every dish was well presented, thoroughly described and explained, as was the wine pairing. Some very interesting wine selections including very unusual choices.
All in all, on par with some of the best restaurants I’ve been in.
Service was impeccable as well, in every way.
Loved it. Thank you!
D. B.
Phenomenal. We had the tasting menu with paired wine and then treated ourselves to the cheese and wine also. It was the right decision. Pairings were unbelievably perfect for each course and we were taken on a journey with the staffs descriptions. Attention to detail and to us were top notch. Thank you Ox team. It was a really special day.

Wow. Its hard to put into words how OX did what they did. The six course chefs choice and wine pairing was simply spectacular. With a knowledgeable and witty sommelier to explain each pairing, the food magically transported us back to the comfort food of our childhood. And the relaxed, minimalist environment only enhanced the taste of the food. Not to be missed if you can get a table!

Meal curation taken to its zenith. It’s definitively one of the top five meals I’ve ever eaten. Served to me by someone so intimate with the menu, it could’ve been the chef.
R. R.
Absolutely fantastic tasting menu and wine pairing! Staff all superb and attentive! Nothing was too much trouble as I don't eat seafood and there was 2 included in this particular menu but were able to swap this out no problem! Honestly one of the best meals I've ever had! Thank you so much!
C. S.
Sublime eating experience with the 6 course tasting menu. Each course has a distinct taste and style and blend very well throughout the meal. Even for some foods that I don't usually like (e.g.beetroot) they are cooked brilliantly and I very much enjoyed eating them. Worthy of a visit for any one visiting Belfast.

This place is amazing and exceeded my expectations. Went for a lunch and the halibut was spectacular. The service was as good as food.

Fantastic birthday celebration for my sons 25th! Can not rate it highly enough the food the wine pairing out if this world!! The service was lovely laid back and super friendly. Thanks guys you nailed it !

Amazing food, great wine pairing and lively staff. They're were also happy to cater for a vegan tasting menu.

This was an exceptional meal on so many levels. Ingredients I'd not had paired with others before and a real journey through seasonal flavours throughout, matched with "just right" service- never overbearing but always there if needed. Great atmosphere too, tables spaced nicely so you had room to chat. It's the little things as well as the big flavours and complex processes, and Ox nails it from top to bottom.

The food was incredible, and the service was impeccable. But, and it’s a big but, you will not get nearly enough food for a full meal. We ordered the 6-course tasting menu, and were so hungry afterward, we picked up a pizza on the way home. If you know what you’re getting into— essentially £250 for some very good appetizers— you will have a great experience

Loved the 6 course tasting menu- even though it was about 9 with all the little extras. After a couple of proseccos, Daz had the wine pairing and I enjoyed a carafe of pinot grigio as lots of different wines do not help my head!! Beautiful courses well presented and attentive staff

Absolutely superb meal at the OX Belfast, 1* Michelin... Extraordinary tasting menu with both phenomenal wine and soft pairings organised by the talented Head Sommelier, Stefania. Every moment of every dish was exquisite, and it was such a pleasure to see one of the owners at the end to pass on my feedback on his wonderful restaurant! We will definitely be returning to taste another marvellous "menu surprise" with them next time we're in Belfast! I work at a Three Michelin Star restaurant myself and the food here was truly delectable. Worth every penny, and then some.
S. L.
Great night out. All the food was amazing and wine pairings worked tremendously well. Service was great. Can't recommend highly enough.
S. H.
As always, impeccable. The food is incredible. Service so discreet and attentive. The ambience is so chilled. Always a gorgeous evening.

Hands down the best restaurant in Northern Ireland and thoroughly deserves all its recognition. The tasting menu and wine pairing menu are exceptional. The whole team is wonderful, down to earth, very welcoming and attentive. The setting is beautiful. One of my favourite restaurants ever. Also love Ox Cave for pre dinner drinks - brilliant cocktails and service. Honestly can’t say enough wonderful things. Just go (and book in advance).
R. R.
Overall positive experience with the tasting menu. Comparing to other similar caliber restaurants in Ireland, I feel like some of the courses, while delicious, could have had certain elements removed as they did not contribute to the dish as a whole, but were on the plate because they are expected (ie. black truffle). Dining experience was louder than expected, however that appears to be the atmosphere / desired. Service was top notch.
B. M. N.
2 of 6 tasting menu courses were memorable, the rest..... Meh! Wine pairing was better but both are way too expensive for what they are. Glad to have had the experience but at £278 for two I won't be back. I've dined and wined much better for a lot less money. Read about the South Sea bubble and you'll understand.
B. N. L.
Don't get the wine pairing!
It was the scabbiest wine pairing I've ever had amounting in total to approx one decent glass for £45. They could be more generous seeing as the bottles are available to buy in a wine shop for £10-13 a bottle! I would recommend just buying a bottle, much better value. £90 for two wine tastings left a bad taste in the mouth
S. W.
Fantastic tasting menu and wine pairing. Simple ingredients combined fantastically. Highly recommended
J. C.
If you don't like the gastro experience here you've clearly got COVID and have lost all sense of taste and smell.
Decided to go the full wack and paired the wines along the way through the many course set menu and can honestly say it made the whole experience better. And not just for the added alcohol ;)
They've noticeably gone to great lengths to perfectly pair the flavours of the wines from around Europe to the dishes. With lots of added and welcomed information provided by the helpful friendly wait staff.
Expensive for sure. But worth it.

We had a nice meal in Ox. The food was very nice throughout. Special mention to the scallop course, beef and chocolate dessert. The food was all very visually appealing but maybe lacked a little in terms of wow factor when it came to flavours. The wine pairings were good and some really interesting wines were provided. Service was attentive but maybe a little cold.
O. W.
We had an amazing lunch with our family and baby. The food was brilliant and the staff were so friendly and helpful. It was unlike any restaurant experience before. Thank you.
D.
Fantastic restaurant with knowledgeable and attentive staff with attention to detail. This is one of three restaurants awarded a Michelin star in Belfast and certainly worth the visit. If you are expecting huge portions this may not be the place for you however if you want to experience excellent food and wine definitely give this place a try.
M. G.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. A great experience from start to finish. The staff were extremely friendly and explained each dish. We had the wine pairing and as expected each of the wines were fantastic. I would highly recommend OX.
B. C.
Stunningly good food and informative, friendly staff. We had the tasting menu and paired wine, every course was superb. The portion sizes were as small as you'd expect from a fine Michelin Stared restaurant - I would recommend adding the cheese option as the cheeses were good and it made it a larger meal. The only downside is that the hard walls and restaurant layout make it a bit noisy. Very pricey, but worth every penny. If you have something major to celebrate this place is ideal.
E. G.
A spectacular meal, all from local producers. The Chateaubriand was the most tender piece of meat I've ever had, and I ate and enjoyed things I never imagined that I would enjoy (bone marrow with spelt!) The waiters were very, very good, and made sure that everything was to our liking. Would eat there again in a heartbeat.
J. J.
A fantastic dinner and experience. This Michelin star eatery located inside an unassuming waterfront shop window is full of Irish charm and a culinary revelation of local ingredients. Set on 2 floors, an open kitchen provides a show as staff rush to get you your next plate of delicacies. After what felt like a hectic start, what shone through was the team here are enjoying themselves and that shines through the service, food and wine. The tasting menu is a treat, all perfectly balanced and pleasing to the tongue which the waiters will happily explain to you. With the exception on one piece of lamb that felt a tad overcooked everything was perfect. The wine pairing compliments the food course for course, and the discovery of a Bulgarian wine will now ensure I keep an eye open for similar offerings! Such a great gateway to the food available in Northern Ireland.

Lovely evening out. Food was fantastic, staff and service first class. A night to remember.

Great food and service...
Mrs T and I visited Ox during a trip to Belfast; we had an excellent evening and were not left disappointed by the intricate and delicate, albeit not faultless food on offer.
The standout dish has to be the duck, which was interesting and complex on a number of levels. I enjoyed the pudding of rhubarb with white chocolate, albeit I found the white chocolate slightly claggy, however the wife enjoyed this and was less keen on the tart rhubarb. Equally Mrs T's halibut was perfect, but my slightly smaller piece of fish was ever so slightly overcooked.
The evening was very good on the whole, however at £281 (with undeniably excellent wine pairings, predinner drink, optional cheese course and port), it is difficult not to impart a more critical eye...
Ultimately highly recommended / well worth a visit 👍

Had an amazing experience at OX, tried the tasting as I like a bit of everything lol was definitely not disappointed. The dishes were quite Similar from the ones I had in Muddlers club, not that that's a bad thing. There was 5 courses with various other things as you'll see in the pictures. The homemade sweets at the end was a nice suprise. The service was brilliant and the restaurant had a nice relaxed atmosphere with an excellent view over looking the lagan. Will definitely be back.

If Carlsberg did lunch this is how good it would be! Another sublime visit to Ox in Belfast. One taste is worth a thousand words so I don’t need to say anymore except Stevie Toman you are one hell of a cook! Michelin started dining without the pomp and circumstance! Truly amazing food & service from team Ox.
P. B.
Food was very good! I went there for lunch and had a nice experience. Went for three course with the snacks. Very nice location. I loved the furniture! Service staff could've explained the courses a little bit!
C. K.
Definitely the best restaurant in Belfast. A must go. Book in advance, as it's quite busy. The food is excellent and so is the service.
J. W.
Incredible food. 6 course tasting menu and my daughters and I were picking our favourite course I chose 4 of them!!! Stevie is an astonishingly talented and superbly creative chef of the highest and front of house Alain is way above any other that I have experienced in all my travelling to Michelin starred restaurants here, mainland Britain and abroad. Superlative experience. 10********** not 5.
A. D. S.
Simply amazing! One of the best restaurants anywhere! The food and service is 1st class. The wine pairing was perfect!
C. G.
This restaurant is in the premier league; the food is unique, tastefully and delicately prepared and presented. The care and attention given to the menu is obvious. Staff are so well trained and confident in what they are doing. A very enjoyable food experience.
T. G.
Absolutely beautiful six-course dinner with wine pairing, worth every penny!
R. M.
Wonderful food. To celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary we did the tasting menu with excellent wine pairing. The staff kept an unobtrusive eye on us so that the gaps between courses allowed a leisurely progression through the afternoon's meal. A great centrepiece to a great day!
O. B.
Service, tasting menu and paired wines did not disappoint. Recommended for the special event.
Another night at Ox and a real joy to receive a delicious meal accompanied with fine wines and great to see the most gracious host Alain. We look forward to a return visit in early 2022.
E. R.
OX is a special place, and I love the setting, the atmosphere and the combination of charm and professionalism of the staff. The tasting menu is an amazing selection of top quality local ingredients. I recommend the wine pairing option, if possible. This was our first time back in OX since the Pandemic started, and it was heartwarming to find this lovely Irish restaurant still at the top of its game. Thankyou!
J. B.
We received an ox voucher as a wedding gift and it was truly an experience to treasure for many years. We chose the 5 course tasting menu with complimenting wines. All the food was organic, seasonal and locally produced and tasted AMAZING. The wines were also superb. Customer service was top notch and each course was nicely explained. We left as very happy customers.
W. C.
Delicious and interesting modern British food. Wine pairings good value. Worth making the effort. I would return.
T. M.
Great place for celebration dinner Valentines ,Birthday it’s amazing recommending food and wine pairing.
Amazing food even better customer service.First Class 🎉🎉🎉🎉
A. S.
Nice posh experience, food super good (but tiny), staff lovely and helpful. Pricey but this is expected so 5 by 5.
T. B.
Truely lovely experience. Staff were amazing and the food excellent. Great value for a michelin star restaurant too!
S. K.
Enjoyed a wonderful evening celebrating our wedding anniversary at OX. The whole experience was fantastic. The tasting menu was delicious, from beginning to end. Staff friendly , knowledgeable and very attentive.
F. R.
Nice atmosphere and good service. The best dish was definitely the desert. The fish was a bit dry, though.
B. R.
Great restaurant in Belfast. I enjoyed the dinner very much. Reasonable prices.
T. B.
Disappointing lunch from the lunch menu; limited choice and only very cheap ingredients used. Proper a la carte service required. Service was friendly.
D. H.
It definitely was an experience, we were prewarned and ate something before we went and we were hungry after leaving. You go here for a special occasion, we had the six course tasting menu with wine, £265 for the two of us, definitely not value for money.
N. S.
Food was faultless and the waitstaff had a really good knowledge of the ingredients. Nice and chill, paired back decor.
L. G.
We have been to one, two and three star restaurants and this place restored our faith in the Michelin guide, from start to finish it was amazing, hats off to the chefs and staff that make it possible, we went next door after the meal for a drink "and some cheese" which was amazing and an hour later when we finished we passed the restaurant only to see the chefs still hard working with an empty restaurant to which i assume prepping for the next day. Best restaurant we have been to in years. An absolute gem, will look forward to visiting Belfast and the ox restaurant again
T. C.
Underwhelmed with the food, conveyor belt service with next course on top of previous. Staff pleasent but uninterested in developing any conversation. Kitchen looked in confusion. £19 service charge from Cave for one glass of wine, assuming that the wine paring doesn't attract this as I would be shocked it did. Never again
C. W.
Friendly staff bill for standard 3 course lunch for 2 people and pairing was £116 including service. Delicious food

I - The place
An astonishingly good yet home-y gastronomic experience with a lovely concept.
II - The Food and mood
The OX was, with Established albeit in a different way, the highlight of our Belfast trip. If you are not aware of the concept, I think it is better to summarise it as an exciting and surprising tasting menu-focused experience.
As I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise, I would simply say that the produce was treated with a lot of love and the resulting dishes exquisite as a result.
The service, throughout, was lovely and unpretentious. You really feel at home, also helped by tasteful and comfortable furniture, throughout the experience. The noise level is also quite decent, something I'm more and more attentive to. An Irish x Scandinavian stunning set, both for the palate and the eyes.
III - Anything special?
Once again, the concept, but discover it for yourself. The OX has been quite a unique stop during our two weeks in Belfast and was one of the best restaurants I've been to for the past 2-3 years.
IV - Verdict
A gem at the heart of Belfast and a treat to try at least once in a lifetime, with an affordable entry-level tasting menu and a more expensive (and expansive) one if you can afford a bit more. I really do want to try the fruit juice pairing next time, reminding me of my favourite Höst.
M. B.
Amazing food and service. Would recommend the wine parings.
S. B.
Very nice food! Service was excellent; rating as 4* as I have only tried the lunch menu
d. a.
Amazing food, a taste sensation.

OX deserves its reputation of being one of Belfast's most fantastic tasting menus and Michelin star experiences. Wonderful intimate service from start to finish. The menu was exquisite and the wine pairings and cocktail menu well curated. Everything we tasted was interesting, outside my normal comfort zone - but excellent! Everything you want from a gourmet meal. It is of course, priced to reflect the high end experience, but it is definitely worth it for a special night out or a treat.
K. G.
Excellent is only way to describe our experience in this restaurant- a 6 course tasting menu was just a wonderful experience - from the tasty bites at the start to main event of Wicklow vension and then sumptuous caramelised apple sweet and nice wines to go with it was a joy - reccomend to anyone who likes fine dining
C. W.
Had the lunch tasting menu. Very delicious. It did however took about 3 hours, so if you have time to spare, this is excellent. Good customer service.
S. S.
Wonderful experience at Ox in Belfast. Food was thoughtful and modern.
S. M.
Wonderful night, everything was perfect. Minor criticism was that our waiter's description of the food and wine was very fast, as though we were the 100th people he had had to say the same thing to that night, which we possibly were!
L. L.
Our party of five had a beautiful meal at Ox last night.
I often find wine pairings delicious but light on quantity-- our server confirmed the 6-course pairing would be the equivalent of 2 glasses of wine, so we opted to drink by the glass, using the menu's apt descriptions and our server's knowledge to find something suitable. We were not disappointed with the wine list all night, and often delighted by our server's suggestions.
Dinner started with an amuse: a crunchy, fresh bite and cheese-filled gougeres. The chefs moved through each course with subtlety and art, from an aromatic fish course to a vegetable and cheese dish, on to a creamy lobster plate, rounding out with a deeply earthy cote du boef. A light, sweet sorbet and a bracingly tart cherry dessert wrapped the meal nicely, and the small plate of sweets at the end sent us out the door smiling.
Highlights: the lobster buerre blanc, endlessly creamy with a hint of sweetness; a perfectly executed roasted beet and cheese dish with a mustard sauce that was just sharp enough to complement both; the deeply flavored cube of fat accompanying the chantrelles and black garlic sauce of the beef course; a sharp yet floral pink peppercorn dark chocolate.
Portions are small, but each bite is perfectly executed. We were not hungry or full when we left, simply satisfied.
Service was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive.
Weeks out, the earliest reservation on our only day in Belfast was at 9PM. We did not leave the restaurant until close to midnight-- there were a few lulls between courses that could have been tightened, especially the twenty minutes between our last savory course and dessert. After we mentioned that we were about to fall asleep at the table, things picked up and we left feeling content.
Definitely worth a meal when you are on Belfast, and still quite affordable.
E. “.
You are made to feel welcome and are well attended. Staff have a good manner and know their business. The food is exciting and beautifully prepared and presented. The tasting menu is intended as a series of pleasant surprises. It is worth splashing out for six courses and for wine, but it is possible to keep costs moderate, by skipping expensive carbonated water, coffee, excessive alcohol etc. The food is what you are there for and a simple glass of wine can be plenty for some people. Ox is certainly right at the top of its game and on a par with the best in London, Dublin.
M. W.
Had the lunch three course menu. Perfectly pleasant but nothing special. If this were I london I doubt they would have gotten a Michelin star.
A. J. (.
Amazing food, wine and service.
C. S.
Just the most amazing food and service! When in Belfast we always try to get s table the menu knowledge of the staff is insane and the chef's know what they're doing with every single ingredient! Absolutely delicious! Perfect service!
V. G.
As someone who is an avid foodie who travels the world to experience cuisines and moved to Belfast from London only last year, I realise fine dining has it's own style and portions (and pretentiousness), but for a 6 course meal each course portion including the main was tiny! The menu looked decent but doesn't matter how good the food is (and it was decent, but nothing super special or 'wow' to be honest), when you pay for 6 courses you expect to be fed fairly and not feel the need to go to McDonald's at the end of the night! This is the very basic of any restaurant to build on. We were left quite perplexed and a bit annoyed that the portions were rather small. The starters were OK but the size of 10p coins so you'd eat in one go and then sit there wondering what's next and the main beef chateaubriand was very tasty but only had 1 tiny short, thin slice of beef each. You could easily put 2 or 3 there instead so why not?
The wine pairing were quite rushed and even though we had only just about taken a couple of sips of each wine, the waiters brought and poured a new course glass just mins after previous course was poured. We literally felt compelled to down our wines! Some of the wines served were from the southern French Languedoc-Roussillon region known for cheap mass market table wines. This certainly wasn't worth the £60 food + £38 wine per person we paid. Don't skimp on the basics folks if you want to be perceived as an upmarket fine dining restaurant. Once you get those right then build on that.

Visited on a holiday to Belfast. It has a very relaxed atmosphere. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. But the food was fantastic. Very innovative use of ingredients like celery and celeriac. We had the six course tasting menu with wine pairings and we couldn’t fault any of it. Thanks for a great night.
S. M.
Top notch food and service. We started next door in the cave with g&t and snacks. Cheddar cheese with truffle honey on sourdough was amazing. Moved into the restaurant for the tasting menu with wine pairing. Some really interesting combinations. The only thing that let the food down was the fish course which was under seasoned. However, overall it was really good. I wasn’t sure about some of the wine pairings. The Turkish wine was particularly weak and uninteresting apart from it was Turkish. We added the cheese course and the waiter recommended a cold port which was absolutely delicious. Would recommend for any foodie visiting Belfast.
J. K.
Wow, just wow. Food, service, atmosphere all first class. Treat yourself, treat a loved one but whatever you do just make sure you eat here!
L. M.
Service was professional and executed well. Food was amazing.

Best restaurant in the City of Belfast by a country mile. Thank you Stevie and all of your wonderful staff for an extremely memorable lunch. ❤
D. B.
Very cool place with amazing food
c. z.
Fabulous food and service. Would like to come again for more surprise
K. H.
Absolutely perfect! Dinner tasting menu is fantastic. Love how you get to look at all of the ingredients that you will be eating beforehand and then at the end you are given the exact menu to see how each ingredient was used. We loved every dish. So much creativity and hard work is put into each dish. Staff is kind and professional.

Enjoy fine dining at its best!

Still serving a superb summer tasting 6 course menu last week, featuring seafood treats including lobster. Excellent value for money, intimate ambience, very attentive service. COVID 19 protocols well observed.
C. M.
Fantastic service and food. Worth the expense! It's also quite chilled out from what you expect from a Michelin star restaurant.
E. C.
No doubt about it the food the flavours the service and the ambience amazing. 60 Pound each for the 6 course tasting menu nice treat very enjoyable. However my only gribe is the price of drinks 2 gin tonics and a bottle of still water 30 pound nearly, is outrageous.
J. S.
Service was excellent and wine pairing too. Food was all delicious, felt the main of the tasting menu could've been slightly more refined, but overall great meal.
A. E.
It's simply perfect, one of the few places in Belfast where you can get five-start first-class restaurant quality food and service. The environment is magnificent, and the staff are quintessentially professional. The food is excellent, no wonder that they have a Michelin star.
m. x.
Wonderful , definitely worth the visit. Each mouthful was designed to delight. Let down by spotty service...the waitress that attended us was obviously not interested in serving us, more to chivvy us to order the same tasting menu. However the food won us over and a wonderful waiter came by and took us through the rest of the meal, and turned our dining experience around beautifully. If you are in Belfast, you have to visit ox. It is not to be missed.
S. B.
Phenomenal... 2nd time and 100% will be back again! ❤️
N. C.
Had the 6 course tasking menu and felt it was overrated. Extremely expensive and I don't think it's justified for the quality and portion sizes. I appreciate fine dining but at the price point it just wasn't good enough imo.
G. B.
Fabulous night in OX. Had the 6course tasting menu which did not disappoint.. The scallop, courgette was amazing as was the rest of the menu.. Chateaubriand bone marrow, and deserts. l definitely will return

Couldn't have been better. From service to plate, really fantastic.

Top notch food and service. We started next door in the cave with g&t and snacks. Cheddar cheese with truffle honey on sourdough was amazing. Moved into the restaurant for the tasting menu with wine pairing. Some really interesting …

Spectacular food, amazing wines and great service

Great eating experience 😋

Everything was amazing really lives upto its reputation
A. F.
One of the best dining experiences in Belfast by far ☺
B. M.
Nice atmosphere. Suitably attentive staff, superb food with a wonderful array of flavours, all with a balanced selection of wines. It's true, you do get what you pay for, so don't go if you prefer large portions of adequate to good food.
c. d.
Insane food as always. If you do not want to be disappointed always a safe bet.
H. M.
The tasting menu was really exciting for you didn't know what the next food experience would be. It was hard to hear the explanations of what we were going to be eating for there was such a buzz- that was great. So it was good to get the menu at the end. Really enjoyed the evening.
D. F.
One of best, if not the best dining experience I've ever had and I've been in a quite a few five star restaurants around the world. It make me proud that OX is in Belfast, my home city. Keep up the good work.
P. M.
We experienced the taster menu and how amazing. It's far from cheap but worth every penny. This 5 course meal was hands down the best food I have ever tasted. I couldn't recommend Ox highly enough.
b. d.
Food perfection served in a perfectly chilled environment, great wine list and the service is attentive without being intrusive. Worth every penny, my only regret is I didn't eat here sooner.
G. A.
Perfection from beginning to end, from the artisan nibbles to start to the scallops and lamb to the parfait at the end. No pretentiousness, just the finest quality cooking and service by folk at the top of their game
A. H.
Michelin star restaurant. Friendly service. Try lunch as your first experience. Very good value. Trust the chef. The menu is minimalist. Eg "Pork, beetroot, apple' might not tell you much. Don't worry. There will be great flavours and techniques when it comes.
E. J.
Waiting staff excellent friendly and efficient food was excellent if pricey not sure up to Michelin. Be aware this is quality over quantity not for those in need of packing. Busy night and a little noisy but overall an excellent experience
C. W.
Wow.
Everything here is perfect. Truffle honey. Orange wine. Ambiance. Charcuterie. Cheese.
If only I could transport this place back to Vancouver.
Definitely worth stopping in as we did on the Cave side. I can only presume the main dining room is even better with its Michelin Star!
Worth every Pound Sterling and maybe even more.
If we are ever in Belfast again this is a must stop.
G. B.
Absolutely faultless food, beautifully prepared and presented served by enthusiastic and highly efficient staff. Wine pairings brilliantly chosen. Really SUPER place. Well worth a visit.
A. O.
Incredible seasonal, Irish food served in a gorgeous setting with kind, warm and attentive staff. Not forgetting the devine wine and cocktails we had also.
D. T.
I really enjoyed this place. Tasting menu formed of local ingredients. Dishes are often simple and elegant, although sometimes can be a little busy. Bread was great, as was cured trout.
D. J.
Simply the finest restaurant Belfast has to offer. Simplistic design ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience. The food itself should surely garner Belfast in it's first Michelin star since Deanes. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. The wine selections are top notch and I would highly recommend the restaurants selected wine pairings for their dishes. I honestly cannot recommend Ox enough. Go. Go now.
E. W.
Great selection of dishes and gin. I recommend 3 courses however as portion sizes are a little light at times. Book ahead however as staff will not oblige walk in in most cases, no matter how empty the restaurant.
C. W.
Food was great but was expecting a little more..it was my partners birthday and I had asked for a cake and they forgot, which was disappointing.. we also had seafood which wasn’t purged properly leaving it with a gritty texture. Wouldn’t go again but we did have a nice dinner and the service was great!
C. B.
I recently had a meal at this restaurant and it was most enjoyable. The food was excellent and the wine was good. The only reason I give it 4 stars is I found it a bit expensive. It is a cosy spot ideal for business or upmarket casual dining. I would recommend it although slightly pricey..!
M. O.
Nick makes Ox made my experience as always unique 10 out of 10. Nick is a gentleman and the food is amazing will be back.
M. B.
The Ox was recommend to us when we visited Belfast a year or so ago, it was fabulous. This year our trip to Northern Island was shaped around a going to the Ox... next year we might have to go just to go for another stunning meal....many thanks for being so wonderful
P. W.
Perhaps the name is a witty reference to the possibility that, until recently perhaps, the expression "fine dining" would be seen as an oxymoron when used in association with Belfast. OX certainly blows that idea out of the water. The food fully deserves that Michelin star, was paired with an entertaining wine selection full of novelty, and professional service that was also particularly friendly. We ate on a Saturday night and sat in the attached wine bar which also functions as an overflow space. It was just as pleasant as the dining room itself, but offers no view of the open kitchen. For that you must book early. And you should.
C.
Amazing food, and fantastic service. If you can get a table, would highly recommend
E. L.
As one of the few (only?) restaurants in Northern Ireland with a Michelin Star, we were really looking forward to eating here and weren't disappointed. The selection of food was incredible and the service nailed that difficult point between informative and chatty, without being pompous and overbearing. The price is about what you'd expect for the type of restaurant, and my only criticism would be that the seats aren't the most comfortable, and that parking in the evening is limited.
M. C.
Contemporary British cuisine. Stunning tasting menus. Fantastic array of wine and have rightly earned a Michelin star! Impeccable service!
P.
We went for a pre-Christmas dinner at the OX. The service was easily the best bit of this mea, being very friendly, professional and refreshingly knowledgeable about the food and wine. To be fair, that probably isn't particularly difficult when there are only 3 starter, main and desert options, almost as though they are trying to force diners to try the tasting menu.
Food portions were also on the lean side; normally that is acceptable at fine dining establishments where the food is so rich and jam packed with flavour that it doesn't leave you wanting more, but unfortunately that wasn't the case for me at the Ox. For the first time I actually found myself living up to the horrible fine dining stereotype of topping up with food at another eatery soon after leaving!
The setting is nice but felt to me like it is trying too hard to be trendy-posh; similar to the food options and portions, I didn't feel the 'less is more' concept really came off. Less is more certainly didn't apply to the bill where it was almost £10 just for a G&T.
All in all, a '3 - Average' is perhaps a little harsh but there are several places in Belfast I would eat before returning to the Ox, so don't feel like it quite achieves a '4 - Very Good' and is a long way off many of the other Good Food Guide high scorers that we have been fortunate enough to dine in.
O. K.
Great menu. Very plesant.
E. M.
Excellent place. For me at the moment the best in Belfast. Some dishes are incredible here, others good. The standard of the kitchen is high.
R. G.
This is an establishment that loves its self. The food and wine are in my opinion over priced and the standard of service just ok. We dined here having been given a voucher as a Birthday present which covered the cost of both our food and wine,we won't be returning.
G. W.
Extraordinary cooking, in a beautiful yet simple restaurant. Just and deservedly awarded a Michelin star you will be pushed hard to find a better, and more fun lunch. Very impressive
D. A.
Best fine dining experience in Ireland. Steve and Alain have poured blood, sweat and tears into this place, transforming a tile showroom into a modern yet classical restaurant with the best local produce delivered each day and presented to you like a beautiful artwork by chef Stephen and his hardworking brigade. Alain is a maestro with his knowledge of wines, gins and whisky, listening to him talk actually educates you as you get drink. Haha.
C. B.
Excellent. I was very much looking forward to eating here and it didn't disappoint. Lunch set menu is very reasonably priced for such high quality food.
O. H.
The food is still excellent but the portions are even smaller as are the paired glasses of wine which go with each course since last time we had lunch here. Almost£120 for lunch not sure if we'll bother again.
T. K.
AMAZING... thank you !!
C. A.
Excellent, attentive service, one of those rare places where you're not abandoned when you want your bill. Food is perfect. Serving only a tasting menu is a stroke of genius. Love it.
G. H.
Superb 6 course tasting menu, all dishes where superbly executed with great flavours and ingredients. Service was top class from the maitre de to the various waiting staff.
D. M.
Fantastic restaurant, nothing is a problem, excellent staff and most importantly outstanding food and wine.
A. L.
One of the best restaurant in the region. The atmosphere and the concept were great. The food was creative and succulent.
S. B.
Spectacular flavours, artistic food presentation, very attentive and engaged staff - overall a really pleasurable dining experience. One for the special occasion.
A. H.
Superb as ever. Never fails to exceed our expectations. The lamb with miso is inspired. The chocolate dessert is worth not fitting into the Mother of the Bride Outfit!
P. M.
We had the tasting menu for 2. Very expensive but food was lovely. Decor is like a cafe and very basic so does not match the food. Staff were very attentive.
P. G.
This is a fantastic place for dinner. The food is absolutely perfect. The service is perfect and the staff very knowledgeable. Everything you expect from a restaurant of this quality.
P. A.
Great restaurant! The food is incredible and the service is excellent. I'd recommend to anyone.
D. C.
A Michelin star restaurant that should receive at least one more. The seasonal surprise tasting menu helped by a perfectly paired wine by a Sommelier, the chef will leave you speechless
G. W.
Fine dining at its best. Lovely working lunch on numerous occasions and keep returning for more. Highly recommend!
P. N. A.
Consistently perfect food and service. I often compare other restaurants to their quality, because they set the standard in the bay area for flavor and ingredients.
J. M.
Sophisticated food presentation in an unusual format ( 4 or 6 course ) tasting menu, with excellent service, in a minimalist environment, albeit at a price.
L.
Great food, great service and great location. Cant wait to go back... Loved the tasting menu with wine pairings.
K. F.

Spectacular food, amazing wines and great service
M. H.
Pretty good all round - but I'd say the flavours are rather restrained for my taste. . If the plates were a bit bolder (and larger) I'd mark Ox up.
C. C.
Outstanding experience. Inventive, surprising and delicious food, combined with world class service.
J. M. L.
I have eaten in several Michelin starred restaurants around the world and I would rate my recent experience here as in my top five anywhere and best in Ireland hands down.
