Great little restaurant. Small and cosy, don't let the restaurant front put you off. The Lantern has great food, lovely wine and very friendly staff.

The Lantern is a relatively small bistro that is big on flavor. Every dish was cooked to perfection and the flavors were delectable. The staff were very friendly and the chef certainly knows what he is doing. I have lived in Chicago for many years and eaten at several renowned restaurants and the Lantern is easily as good as if not better than the best of them. If you're in Belfast do yourself a favor and book a table at the Lantern, I most certainly will next time I'm in town.

Warm welcome from the owner of this small restaurant. House wine was Spanish red and was good. We had excellent fresh sea bass and the sirloin steak was quality and cooked perfectly. To round it off we had home made sweets which were also really good. We had a lovely evening and are delighted to score 5*. Recommended.

My wife and I went the other night and had a terrific time! Even having the masks/visors on, the personnel in Belfast gave us a really warm greeting. It was a dining out to help our night, and we were happy to be escorted to our table right away. The meal was great, with a menu that was diverse and innovative. It's the greatest Irish food I've ever had. To completely comply with COVID-19 criteria, there were enough of hand sanitisers and table dividers. We felt quite safe and will return.

We came for dinner, had a 3 course meal. For starters , we had chowder and squid, both extremely good! My husband had the steak for main, he loved it. My risoto was good, however, I could over taste the stock in it. For desert, I had a Delicious moist brownie ( very sweet) and my husband had the sticky toffee pudding, a bit too sweet for my taste. Great roast coffee and wine. Overall , a great place to go.

COVID - SAFE We frequent visit this restaurant, but on our first visit following the lockdown, we were blown away by the investment made to keep everyone secure. With plastic screen separators, each table now seems like its own tiny booth, adding to the sense of seclusion and intimacy. The same fantastic cuisine, atmosphere, and service! Really really really delicious!!! I would like to recommend to everyone. We have four people and order four pre-theater (2 courses)! So there are two starters, four main courses, and two desserts. We feel really full😎 Spaghetti and steak are wonderful. (Of course, every courses is delicious.) The word I can say is yummy😍 PS: The last order for pre-theater is 18:15. Oh I forget to picture the menu...😭

Had a beautiful meal here this evening. I had the beef and my partner had the chicken. Both were to melt in your mouth. We had our 2 boys with us and although they didn't have a specific kids menu , they were very accommodating and offered burgers and nuggets with chips. Nicest chips I've ever tasted. My youngest boy gave them 400/10 for the nuggets lol . Staff and manager very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.

This was a surprise find and we nearly never stopped. As it was we had a lovely warm welcome from the staff and was seated immediately. We didn't opted for a started but instead went straight for mains. Both of us choosing the fish dishes. I head sea bass and the hubby had salmon. We also had a side dish of salad and the parmesan chips were to die for. Everything was beautifully represented. For dessert I had creme brulee which was de-l-cious and the hubby had the chessboard which he said was the same. All in all we had a lovely meal with a bottle of prosecco. I would defo recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. 😁

My partner and found this little gem of a restaurant a week or so ago and wish we knew about it earlier. The food is gorgeous and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced fantastic tasting food too. It's not the biggest inside but it is very tastefully decorated. All in all a lovely dining experience

We came here twice in three days (on a three day trip!) as the food and service is amazing. First trip was 2 main courses - beef and pork belly which were both stunning. Second time we opted for the pre-theatre option with 3 courses and my god we left stuffed and happy! Recommend the squid, bread, fish and chips and pork belly (so good, we had it again!)and deserts were gorgeous too - apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding. Staff are friendly and extremely attentive and would definitely recommend everyone to give this place a try - you will not be disappointed. Thank you!

Lovely place, recently fully refurbished. Excellent safety screens between each table really putting us at ease. We used to come here a lot pre Covid and I was unsure if we would have the same experience, I needn't have worried, it was even better! Staff are so welcoming and friendly. Three of us had a £37.50 Groupon for two courses each at the Lantern. To be honest, our expectations were a little low. However, we had three delicious meals here, definitely up to the standard of other, nearby, more expensive places. Everything was full of flavour and cooked well. Cheap and cheerful We were in a table of 10 I think, which was fine the service was friendly and helpful, the reason for the average review are there are so many better places to eat in Belfast, in terms of menu and venue. The decor and the menu were completely incongruent to each other. The menu was a traditional British menu, whilst it was decorated with an Asian theme? Not for me. Pretty average food, great service, handy enough for BYOB.

Had our first meal in Lantern on Saturday evening 24 September. The atmosphere was buzzing and although it was smaller than I expected, after settling into our seats and being served immediately, I soon forgot about the size of the restaurant. The service was excellent and our waitress, Marie, was friendly, courteous and made us feel we were the only table in the restuartant. The food was delicious and the 4 of us all agreed on that! The owner took time to chat with us, checking that things were ok for us. He too was friendly, good humoured not only with our table but others also. We had a great evening and will definitely be returning to Lantern and highly recommend it to others.

It is very reasonably priced. Only draw back is the unisex loo. Best to book in advance as this is a busy place. It can cater for small or large groups.

Fantastic meal - everything homemade even the honeycomb on the ice cream. My girlfriend and I recently went here for dinner to celebrate her graduation. We wanted somewhere that wasn't too formal but would still match the importance of the occasion...and be romantic. The Lantern had all this and more. Not only were the dishes incredibly well made, they tasted sublime and were equally matched by the friendly service from out two waiters. We ordered the Sea Bass and Slow Cooked Beef with neither of us getting food envy. I would highly recommend The Lantern for a lovely meal out whether it be a couple of a family get together.
