Delicious looking menu that delivered in flavour too. Despite it's infancy, highlights of fried artichokes and lamb rump puts this place right up there with the well-established greats of Belfast.

We enjoyed our lovely dinner. Ordered the bread and butter starter and mozzarella, beetroots and figs dish to share to begin. Then had the herb gnochis with pesto and tomatoes. For dessert, we went for the baked Alaska. The bread was delicious, especially the one with herbs. Highly recommend the gnochis (large), possibly the best we've ever had and the tomatoes tasted super fresh. Baked Alaska is delicious, quite big and with a contrast of temperatures and textures as the outside merengue is warm and it has ice-cream and cake inside (despite being tasty if you don't have a sweet tooth, you should go for another choice) . Despite the good culinary experience, we give it 4 stars because being charged 6.60£ for the service, we felt the waiters were quite pushy for getting us to order drinks as they repeatedly asked several times. To be fair, though, they were all very friendly, but if service is to improve, that should be noted.

Dinner at Wateman was a great experience. The food was so good. Loved everything, the fish was so fersh so good with an amazing broth. Just needed a bit more. Wanted more. So good.

Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. We were lucky enough to win a meal for two from Waterman's Instagram page, on arrival we received 2 glasses of champagne, which was a lovely touch. We then had 3 courses from the set menu, the pre starter breads were so tasty! The steaks were juicy and our desserts absolutely hit the spot. The staff couldn't do enough for us! We will be back ASAP!

We went on 20th October for dinner and I have to say that the service and the food was exceptional.
We shared the Chateaubriand and it was to die for.
Baked Alaska dessert may well be an 80s throwback but was fabulous.
All complimented with a real good bottle of Barbera.
I can't wait to be back in Belfast to go again.

Finally... I'm able to give a 5-star review of a restaurant in Belfast. Great food, flavour and wine. The vibe is professional with a little nervousness that is to be expected in these relatively early days of a restaurant, but the key is the food from a clearly very skilled chef and team. It's not cheap but where is now in Belfast? But for a special occasion, or indeed any occasion, this is the best in Belfast. Well done.

We were at Waterman’s yesterday evening, we hadn’t booked a table but were lucky to be able to take a cancellation The food was superb as was the atmosphere, the staff were friendly and knowledgable. The lemon baked Alaska dessert was “ to die for”. Next time We are in Belfast we will be back, hopefully in the near future !!

Service was excellent, food pretty amazing, buzz about the place reminding you that it's a Niall McKenna joint. Among other treats was a lamb rump main, served with a herb salsa ;sirloin steak; and a cod fillet served with ratatouille. The mains aren't served with anything, so we ordered the hispi cabbage with savoury crumbs. There is no pretention here, just top quality ingredients treated with respect. Cocktails (around £9) and a carefully chosen wine list add to the alcohol offering. If I was the sort of person to advise you, I'd say book ahead and treat yourself. Prices run from £22.50 for the lamb, £26.50 for the steak, and £21.50 for the cod. We made a dent in an organic red called Arabus Organic Garnacha from Spain, £26. Spent the last 10 minutes of our visit trying to establish a solid reason for returning. It's only a matter of time.

Waterman, a 50-seater restaurant at Waterman House which is already home to the fantastic Waterman House Cookery School, is the new venture by award-winning chef Niall McKenna.
The atmosphere is relaxed, with a cool, contemporary feel, great service, and the menu is classic European-style dining featuring quality local produce.
We had a terrific evening at Waterman recently enjoying a birthday celebration with delicious dishes and wonderful wines.
The Goat’s Cheese & Honey Stuffed Courgette Flowers were an absolutely gorgeous appetiser (thank you Dean!) and our starters included a dainty bowl of four Salt Cod Brandades on Dill Mayo, Cured Sea Trout with Apple & Hazelnut, and Roast Carrots with Cumin Yogurt & Almond, all of which were excellent.
Our main courses were also beautifully presented and tasted top-notch; a light & fresh Herb Gnocchi with Tomato and Pesto, a crispy-skinned Fillet of Hake with Ratatouille & Salsa Verde fragrant with paprika, and a perfectly pink Hanger Steak which one of our party ordered as part of the incredibly good value Set Menu.
Desserts were a complete delight-a decadently Dark Chocolate Mousse, a creamy & fruity Eton Mess, some freshly churned Raspberry Ripple Ice Cream, and a Baked Alaska birthday surprise!
This exceptional and elegant new addition to the Cathedral Quarter dining scene is an absolute triumph. We can’t wait to return in the very near future.

I had a meal here last night and must commend the staff on the quality of the menu and selection of alcoholic selection available with really positive comments across our group.
I would mention that I feel the booking slot of 1hr 30 minutes is insufficient for an enjoyable dining experience-specifically for a restaurant in the centre of Belfast. Two of our group were delayed finding a parking space(a common experience around 5pm to 7pm with a view to the business week)and ultimately were 15 minutes late for the booking. We ate our meal at a fairly reasonable pace throughout and while the staff were amenable we felt as if we were being herded out from the beginning - so much so that 20 minutes from the end we were handed a bill with it implicit that we were to pay up and not order desserts. People were in the process of finishing their meal and the staff was attempting to clear our plates- with someone attempting to take one that was clearly still being eaten as there was a third of a steak left. The servers were very cordial with this behaviour only resulting from a pressure applied to run down the end of a dining slot.
As a group we frequently eat out as across a range of restaurants, with the majority of them insisting on a 2hr block and while it's only a 30 minute extension, I think this provides a contingency for lateness- a reasonable expectation around a 5pm to 7pm dining slot. I would say this shotgun to the back approach was at the expense of the dining experience and that it reduced an evening from being a nine out of ten to a five out of ten. I would advocate the food but struggle to commend the service in suggesting it to others.
