S. K.Perfect as always. I have ordered from here twice & it never failed me! their dragon burger is my favourite, packed with flavours. I love their waffle fries as well, very crispy! though the price is kinda expensive, i understand they use good quality products :)

J. W.I don’t think many words are needed to describe Bonehead. The chicken says it all. And that’s a lot.
Before Bonehead came along, to find good fried chicken in Birmingham you would really struggle. Now Bonehead has set the benchmark.
There’s a great bar downstairs with several beers on tap, a few of which rotate. But there’s a fully stocked beer fridge with even more offerings.
Upstairs you have the restaurant, which, while not huge, the turnover of customers is pretty quick so you’re not really left waiting long. And if you do have to wait, the bar downstairs is a perfect waiting area.
The menu is a steady fixture of chicken offerings which hasn’t changed a lot since Bonehead opened. And it hasn’t needed to. Weekend or weekly specials feature often enough, with special wings, burgers or strips.
My best tip would be to go for the Hothead burger.
E. I.Wowowowow food was perfect, temperature was steaming hot when it arrived, chicken thigh in the burger was so succulent and soft, the coleslaw was great, but what topped it off was the buffalo strips 😭 cannot recommend enough what kind of sorcery, pls expand all over the country 😩😻😻😻
T. H.Usually unbelievable. However I just went on to Uber eats and they now have normal fries and not the criss cross waffle fries? There hasn’t been a travesty like this since KFC’s fry downgrade
V. O.I Went here a few days ago after seeing it on Instagram. The buffalo burger I was not so keen on because of the sauce which tasted too salty. The hothead burger was nice and the topped waffle fries were delicious 😋. I really wanted to try the totheads but they weren’t on the menu. The actual place is a bit of a dive with very small tables and uncomfortable seating but they do good food 🤷🏻♀️ and the service was also very good. So I’d go again.

T. H. J.Love this place. We tried every type of wing and the burger. Great beer choice and selection of wing flavours. We visited around opening time, so there was a long wait for food but we got complementary wings as a resukt, and the staff are excellent, personable, friendly and attentive.
D. C.Bonehead is unashamedly a dirty bird experience. It is fresh fried bird prepared with a smidgeon of care, a tasty sauce and big slice of cheese (if you so choose).
I loved the setting, dark, industrial with modern political detailing. The bar downstairs has a super range of craft beers to accompany your meal.
Healthy diet seekers please stay away. You may enjoy sampling this filth.
A. B.Always preferred beef burgers over chicken burgers but the chicken burger I've just had here is easily the best burger I've had in my life. The chicken strips were amazing too.

S. M.Warm welcome on entering and we were taken upstairs to our table. It's small inside but don't let that put you off or the rock music lol . The chicken was excellent, tasty, juicy and crispy. I had the chicken strip combo £10, which consisted of thick crispy chicken strips, dip, waffle fries, coleslaw and a gherkin, yum! My daughter had the chicken burger and we shared the sweet chilli wings combo (I know we're greedy 😆but we we're hungry). The staff were friendly and made sure we were ok (getting extra napkins). Great place, you gotta try it!
D. B.Raffle ticket seating arrangement, whereby you can't book a table in advance you are given a ticket and you have to wait your turn. Soy butter chicken wings were tasty and the fried chicken was good but the thigh was overdone so was a little bit too crispy for my liking. My only complaint was the waffle fries were over salted and I had to leave most of them as I couldn't shake all the salt off!! As this was only the 2nd day of opening that can be forgiven. Staff were friendly and attentive.

The wings were delicious! Really well done. The chicken thigh burgers were perfect. Flagship chicken in a bun. The buns themselves were really good brioche buns.
Staff were really friendly and service was 💯. If we Bonehead could improve one thing it would be more non beer alcoholic options.

E. A.Everywhere you search online, for the best places to eat in Birmingham, you see this place listed there. We had to go and try it during our short visit in this city and, you can tell by the rating, we were not disappointed. The chicken was properly tender and nice & crispy on the outside (even with the glazed wigs). The portions are decent and made fresh, you have quite a few items to choose from and the staff are very friendly and professional. Definitely one of the best places to eat in Birmingham and will definitely come again. everything in the photo (including 2 Cokes) cost £33.40 so a pretty decent price.

V. O.The chicken tights in the Bonehead and Hothead burgers are awesome. They are soft and juice inside and crispy outside. After I ate the burgers, I felt uncomfortable in my stomach because the burgers are quite fat, and I think I shouldn't have eaten that much.
However, Buffalo chicken wings aren't as great. One of the reasons is that they were a pretty new favour for me and I didn't like it in the beginning. The wings are quite salty and sour but not crispy. The meal also has celery with blue-cheese sauce. Cheese sauce was not bad and didn't have a strong favour. Overall, it is a good idea to combine the chicken wings with that blue-cheese sauce together.
The Original chicken strips I ordered were pretty dry and didn't feel that much original. I think I have eaten strips with the similar taste many times before. I wouldn't recommend to order this meal.
The service is very-very slow, and we were waiting for a meal for about a half an hour which is a lot for a fast-food type of food. I think this is the reason why there are often big queues. The first time I went to this place was in Saturday afternoon and they asked us to wait for 45 minutes, so I decided to visit it another day. I did without waiting at Tuesday afternoon, so I suggest to go on weekdays if you don't want to wait a long time to be seated.

I'd heard about it and finally got round to going tonight and was really impressed with the tasty food and the friendly staff. It's a pretty busy place so you may have a small wait but theres a bar downstairs to while away your time. I would definitely recommend this as somewhere to go if chicken is your thing! 🐔 I'll be going back for sure.

G. S.Pretty cool venue, the beer selection looked good, but as i was at the tail end of a cold, i didnt have a brew, but a good selection. The burger was awesome, nice thick piece of thigh, yum! The strips were too soggy/oily if they had been drained or left in to be a bit crispier, they would have been perfect. Good flavours though!

T. D.Quirky little restaurant in central birmingham for chicken lovers. There is a small bar on entry and tables upstairs. The place looks like it's been thrown together on a budget but it works. The food is tasty and reasonably priced and the potato waffles were amazing also the rub is pretty tasty. Service was good. Taken one star off because the burger was too greasy for my liking. But this however would not stop me from going back.

K. J.Great place for fried chicken, probably the best in Birmingham! They do great burgers, excellent wings and their waffle fries are super tasty! They also have a wide range of craft beer on tap and in the fridge (although do expect craft beer prices in the fridge, many IPAs going costing £7+). Great staff, always friendly and food is prepared quickly when seated. If you are going on a Friday or Saturday night expect to have a wait (maybe half hour) but there's plenty of beer to try whilst you wait. 100% would recommend!
F. J.I'm probably not the best person to review this place as I am predominantly vegetarian. However the draft beer selection wasn't amazingly varied, I think they were all from one brewery. The chicken didn't get rave reviews from my friends and the chips were soggy. The vegetarian option was a lot better than I expected but still not something I'd want to go back for. The slaw everything came with was just shredded vegetables with no dressing or mayo. The staff were very friendly and the decor is fun and interesting. The music selection was great though. I would probably come back here for drinks towards the start of a night out, but would give the food a miss. My husband said the chicken was no better than the local cheep chicken shop.

Kids meal offered was a nice surprise offered by the waitress. Baby seat was quite clean. FYI parents hate being given grubby high chairs.
Service was excellent, friendly and happy to accommodate.
Tip: get their early evening as gets busy.
Small place with tight seating however don’t let this put you off, great atmosphere and well worth it.
Can’t wait to go back for round 2 and try a different burger.

S. L.I really didn't like the place .... so why did I give it a 5 stars rating? Well it's one of these places where the food is THAT good that it trumps everything else!
Cons - I didn't like the darkness in the place mostly, I wasn't keen on the decor/style, I wish the chef with a big beard would wear a nett BUT pros - the staff is very polite and welcoming, first when you enter on the ground floor and then when you go up the stairs, the menu is straight forward so we had decided what we wanted even before we got there, I found the food price fair particularly for the location, and finally the food was delicious! It really was delicious (chicken strips and potatoes croquettes buffalo style with cheese sauce) , so much so that i would go back just for the food ( though after that review I'm not sure if I'd dare...) also I'd you like beer they seem to have a nice selection.
A. P.I've tried to eat 5 times and I've managed to, only one. The chicken burger was really good and most of the staff were cool and friendly. However, as the kitchen closes at 9:30pm, I've been there at 9:25pm to be told by the manager that "we are closed" in the fine line of being rude. I rarely leave reviews but it was very frustrating! When you are the strict with closing times you should allow someone to order at 9:29pm or apologise politely.

The fried chicken has an amazing crispness/crunch to it, definitely one of the best I've had. The only very minor downside is when the place is full (upstairs), its a bit noisy and gets a distracting din, could do with some soft furnishings upstairs just to dampen it. Would recommend!

J.From seeing the other burger images, I had high expectations going in but unfortunately the burger was extremely undersized and the taste did not deliver. It took no more than 3 mins for me to finish it and was not worth the money. However, the wings were very well cooked, good portioned and tasted fair, and the dipping sauces were amazing. The waffle chips were also delicious and customer service was great. Don’t get misguided by the burger pics.

Big piece of chicken thigh, juicy no horrible bits. Plain fries, no so plain, nice flavour and 0 grease. Blown away, coming back soon. Thank you for the amazing burger.
K. R.Chicken wings were great, perfect flavour, portion size and price!! Had 3 different flavours and all of them were fantastic. However, the fried chicken did not match up as they were rather greasy and not as flavoursome as the wings. To top it off they were £8 for just 2 pieces of fried chicken. On the plus side the fried chicken did have a good crispiness to it and the chicken was perfectly moist.

D. R.Best fried flavoured wings and chicken I've ever eaten. Stick to the wings though, the breast is more meat and less delicious crispy skin. Seating is odd/cramped and it can get a bit noisy just from the number of people in such a small room. Staff are were great, and the craft beer selection was decent.

Last time I went, I ordered wings which were pretty satisfying and worth the money. Well cooked, really nice sauces. Although the actual chicken isn't very well seasoned. The chips are pretty great.

N. N.Huge fan of this place because as an American living in Birmingham, this is closest as I've come to the American dive bar kind of feel. Big win for me in that regard. Beer selection is top notch and there are some good whiskeys and rums as well. Food is great too. Recommend the buffalo wings. J. B.Ordered takeout with Uber Eats. Was my first time using Uber Eats so I got £15 off. I got the Bonehead Strip Combo and Sweet Chilli Wings which came to £3.25 with the discount!
Chicken was great, waffle fries were yum too. My only qualm is that I requested cutlery in my order but didn't get any so it was quite messy trying to eat the chicken wings without a napkin.
Overall great value with the voucher and I'd purchase from there again full price :)

Loaded fries weren't great (a lot of money for coleslaw + lattices that seemed like they were from a packet) but the beer was top notch and the place has a good vibe.

The regular fries were a bit too salty. The place was very small; much smaller than expected. The music was also very loud especially when the place is full up. It was very busy when I visited so I had to keep asking for the missing items from my order but the staff was lovely and was happily fetching all of them for me. Will visit again soon to get my wings fix!
J. L.I had high hopes with good reviews from some people I knew that had been. The chicken was fresh and higher standard than a normal takeaway. However it just lacked for me I have had better in Birmingham in other pubs in the Jewellery quarter. The coating was so greasy underneath it was reapeating on me all day. I was not disgusted with the visit, the service and speed of service were avaerage at best. Just overall underwhelmed which won't make me go back unfortunately.

The food is incredible (wings and burgers) and the beer selection is always on point with some interesting beer to try as well as their staple draft Beavertown offerings. They really do know their food and drink. Music is good, atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the decor is ace. I just wish they were open more!! I highly recommend you go to eat and drink everything they have to offer - you wont be disappointed

M. H.Bonehead gets busy so you might have to wait. Its worth it though as the food is tasty and it gets served real quick. Even the black cutlery was cool. I must also mention that an Independent Birmingham card can be shown to get a 10% discount.

A.So I have been here several times, the previous two times I have been I have unfortunately not been able to keep my food down... 😔😢 Didn't want to blame it on Bonehead because ultimately, beforehand, I enjoyed what I had! However something just didn't agree with me - thought it was all just a bit too greasy! But went again with my mate last night to try the burger without the blue cheese sauce (which I'd had twice before) and low and behold, I fully enjoyed my food and it stayed where it needed to haha! Absolutely delicious! 👌🏾👌🏾 the staff are so accommodating and friendly! And despite the venue looking at lot more "rocker vibe" than I expected the first time I went, its really cool inside! Low lighting, intimate and all the food is so fresh! For me, as long as I persoanlly keep clear of the blue cheese sauce, me and Bonehead are goooooood! Ha 😁🙌🏾

The menu is simple and straight to the point which I’m a fan of. It’s a pretty small venue so we had to wait around 30 mins for a table but they have a bar downstairs which makes for a good waiting area.

The food was really good, I got the hothead burger and my boyfriend got the nashville burger and both were amazing but I couldn't really taste the comeback sauce on my burger so might opt for garlic mayo next time. Another thing that was a bit of a downer was that the burgers weren't as big as the ones in the pictures but I don't know if you have to ask for it to be double stacked, although it doesn't mention adding an extra on the menu. The wings were the pengest thing ever, gutted there was only 5 because it meant we had to fight over the last 😂 overall great experience!

Z. J.So I was recommended to go here from another chicken lover. Arrived first I was told there was no tables upstairs and was invited to sit downstairs on one of the free large tables downstairs. I ordered wings however the spicy sauce it comes with is mayo based i asked to switch it out for regular hot sauce. In the time it took me to place my order, two girls came in and sat down at the only free table. The guy did ask them to move to one side, but I really didn't want to share as I wanted a table to myself. I then switched my order to take out. Shortly after a couple came in and was given table by one of the girls working the floor upstairs however no customers had come downstairs. I queried this as I was told there was none, yet it seems one became free why was it not offered to me the communication needs improving. I got a seat right by kitchen didn't like the seat but it was a table, my chicken wings came out with the spicy mayo i specially said I didn't want due to allergies. The kitchen messed up and lucky for me I didn't take it all the way home to be disappointed. That been said the staff are all very friendly, the wings were refunded and replaced which is very very rare for most food places, and i was offered another drink. Unfortunately the chicken was greasy, sat in little pools of excess oil so one side just over loaded with grease. Apparently they add additional oil mix after frying the chicken, yet its not described as such on the menu or told especially as I said I'm new here. I was again offered alternatives e.g strips which was nice but at this point i was fully disappointed with my experience and taste. I have had and can make better fried chicken so this will be my first and last visit. I'm in the Uber now heading to the person who recommended me we need to have a conversation as I wasn't impressed. 3 stars are for the customer care and service after they messed the food order and potentially put me at risk due to the kitchen not following very clear instructions.

D. M.As an American raised in the south, I know good fried chicken when I see it. Moving to the UK I was entirely dissapointed to find England just didn't know how to do southern fried chicken and I missed it. When I heard about this place I had high hopes and I was not dissapointed. I've tried both the wings and the chicken strips and both are amazing! I highly recommend their homemade sauce, Comeback sauce. It's not spicy, just very flavorful, and I recognized the taste of it, it's a burger style sauce that you can get in Louisiana. The waffle fries are amazingggg, another thing I missed about America, waffle fries. I've since been back three more times when I crave proper fried chicken (not KFC nonsense).

M. B.Basically: really beautiful tender chicken (thighs are particularly excellent), let down a bit by bland batter and dodgy sauces. The "hothead" chicken seems to basically be the standard chicken batter slathered in some mildly spicy sauce. As well as not being spicy, the sauce was way too salty! If you want some really nice spicy fried chicken, then honestly KFC's hot wings are a lot more tasty.
Other positives: coleslaw/pickles very tasty, and some pretty interesting looking specials such as a burger served on a bagel.
D. S.Really great venue with a unique atmosphere - They only serve chicken, but it is some of the best chicken I've ever eaten. It's well seasoned, tender and moist. Staff are very friendly, and the food is well priced.
A. S.Came here on a whim with my girlfriend who had wanted to visit for some time and so popped in on a random Wednesday. To start with a positive, the chicken was delicious, you could taste the buttermilk and the coating was crispy and damn near perfect, well done. Beer selection was also really good, and comparable to the area so all good.
On the down side, place looked like it could do with a good clean, the waitress going round with the antibacterial spray and a cloth didn't cut it, as for one of the cooks walking through the dining area with a full bin bag, not good. More tatty, less chabby chic. Staff seemed really disinterested. Didn't mind the wait for food, you could tell that the chicken was freshly prepared and made to order. The fries on the other hand, lattice fries similar to what you buy at Aldi, and when asked ''would you like sauce" you don't expect to be charged for a little pot of BBQ.
All in all, great chicken, but the choice of sides is disappointing and the staff and all over look let it down.

L.Ok, this place isn't bad. But it isn't 5 star. Why the heck are people give 5 stars to this?
1. Expensive beer.
2. Fried chicken is nice. But worth 5 stars? Surely not. It's not better than any other fried food joint I've been in. Salty, peppery, crispy. Ok.
3. Hothead for 50p... I felt bad, but I sent my order back. "I can't tell if this is hot head." It comes back drenched in something with assurances that this is now covered in hothead sauce. Tried, and I literally can barely taste any spice in it at all. May as well not said anything. I was told we wouldn't be charged for it... But if no one even knows if it is on theth why the hell care in the first place? Why charge extra?
4. The fries were cold, before and after hothead debacle.
5. After the wait to get in, I had to flag down a waiter to get served after feeling considerably over time. We were waiting in a group of 5.... There is a queue to get in, 30 minutes plus isn't so bad. But when you don't wait your tables quickly it leaves me questioning why we waited so long. Was the wait just incompetence from the no booking restaurant?
