My husband and I did a walk in for diner to celebrate and we had such a lovely time. What really made it memorable was our server Michael who was very positive, upbeat and attentive. He was extremely accommodating when I said the lobster was over cooked and immediately brought me a replacement. Unfortunately the replacement was still rubbery and he made sure it was taken off the bill. I was very appreciative of that. The rump steak was delicious! The truffle mac and cheese is a must try!

A very nice venue, modern and upbeat, clean and friendly. The food is nice but I wouldn't say excellent and in my opinion a little overpriced for the quality. (Saying that the scallops were lovely). We had lobster as a side and it was very overcooked, burnt on the legs too. The waiting staff are helpful but recommendations are in the top tier pricing. Be mindful of the 10% gratitude on top of your bill too.

Gorgeous upmarket steak house! Very expensive but worth it for my daughter's graduation! The chateau briand was amazing, 750g was a huge portion! Only hard core carnivores need apply! We couldn't fault the service, the ambience or the food. The chips were not for me but everyone else loved them. The mac n cheese was also very good. We had a bottle of pink Chandon which was reasonable for the type of venue we were in. Would go again fir a special occasion.

A tricky review to write. They were super busy on a Monday night due to a graduation day at the university. I don't think they had planned for this. Nonetheless, they found us a table though we hadn't booked. Staff super friendly and attentive. Had a long talk with the waiter about what to order yet he still brought different steaks cooked differently from what we ordered. But then, this was rectified quickly and we were offered free deserts (which we took as cocktails) without being asked. The food and atmosphere were brilliant and our issues were sorted out better than I could have expected. I think they were under pressure that night. It happens and for us they managed it really well so 5 stars.

My favourite restaurant. I went here on 2 February (2020) for my birthday. I have never eaten such juicy and flavoursome meat than at this restaurant. I hesitated to travel back later that year partly to eat at this restaurant. Unfortunately, we have not been able to visit Birmingham since then due to corona.

Had an AMAZING time with friends at Gaucho last night! The service was wonderful! A big thank you to Gabi and Louis that were super friendly and took great care of us! They went above and beyond! The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and the food was EXCEPTIONAL! Definitely recommend the potato salad with salmon and the seabass ceviche as starters. The steaks were all cooled to perfection and the chimichuri sauce complimented the steak perfectly! They oyster mushroom (side dish) was also delicious !! The sticky toffee pudding was what we needed to finish off this amazing meal ! Would definitely go back and I'll recommend it to everyone!

The environment was beautiful and relaxed, the food was exceptional, the drinks and wines were lovely, and the service from our waiter Marco was outstanding. Me and my partner were made to feel very welcome and treated like royalty. I chose Gaucho as a Birthday treat for my partner The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the food was even better. My partner and I both had steaks both delicious unfortunately my partners stake was not cooked to his specification the restaurant manager compensated for the error with a complimentary dessert which was also delicious. I did think that the lighting in the toilets wasn't adequate found it very difficult to see in the mirror when retouching my makeup the only negatives I have is that it's very expensive. I noticed that the waiter that we had would only address my male companion only talking to me to take my order I also noticed that the table next to us that had the same waiter (4 dinners) got extra attention ie taking pictures of them spending a long time chatting to them almost as if he knew them

Went for the bottomless roast for a birthday meal. The service was good but the roast was average. Yorkshire puddings were massive, gravy was good, you get a selection of beef but they were just average, roast potatoes were crispy but dry and the roast vegetables were underdone. A 1 time visit for me.

Staff - was on great form even though there were a few of them they were there when needed with advice, options and service. They were great with the kids too so give those guys a raise.

Customer service was amazing. A relaxed, calming atmosphere and the food was cooked to perfection. Definitely pricey but a lovely place to go for a nice occasion. Our waiter was so informative as I am very indecisive and quite frankly annoying: but he was so kind and ensured we were satisfied with all we had. despite also forgetting to request halal food in advance, they still managed to provide it for us. Paying for a name. The bread starter was really nice. Ordered a 300g blue fillet and they served it medium rare. This is not what I would expect from a steak restaurant at this price point. Staff member was very apologetic and took it off the bill without me asking. She did ask if I wanted fresh sides but I declined as was annoyed and losing my appetite. By the the time a new one arrived my friend had finished all her food. Steak itself was average for £40. It didn’t seem seasoned and was just plopped on the plate. Pulperia do an amazing 400g chateaubriand (a better cut) for £45.

The decor is lovely and service was amazing. However, the steak was tasteless. I got the sirloin and there wasn’t even a hint of salt or other seasoning before I poured the peppercorn sauce on. A very calm and chilled atmosphere, great service. The staff were polite and friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The food was amazing, great starters and the steaks were amazing. However the fries felt like they were cooked the morning before, refried that evening and plated up. They were brittle shards of terribleness! And that was our only gripe. I would highly recommend the restaurant to people, but I'd highly recommend that the restaurant revise how they cook the fries!

Went to gaucho to celebrate my partners birthday, we were met by a lovely lady who showed us to our table, we had a booth table, very clean we were served a super friendly and lovely girl called Kasia, explained the menu to us and recommended the best option to get the best flavour out of each cut. We went for the gaucho sharer (4 cuts of beef, sirloin, rump, fillet and ribeye) with 2 sides, tenderstem broccoli, served with soy sauce, chilli and garlic and the heritage carrots served with goats curd and toasted almonds. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection for us, we had it medium rare. We weren't drinking alcohol tonight, so both had a non-alcoholic cocktail, both had the tiki twist (pineapple drink). We both had dessert , partner had the brownie and I had the salted dulce le leche cheesecake, again amazing desserts. They even wrote happy birthday in chocolate on the brownie plate served with a candle for my partner. Staff were keeping to covid social distancing rules, also saw the staff constantly using the hand sanitizer stations dotted around the resturant. Atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable and neither of us felt rushed or pressured to speed up. Can't wait to return.

This is a Argentinian restaurant specialising in Black Aberdeen Angus steaks as well as having a a'la carte menu. I was taken here for a lunchtime treat for fathers day. Pleasant surroundings and our server was equally pleasant and knowledgeable and far from indifferent to our needs, unlike some other restaurants I have been in. The staff were courteous and friendly and the food was excellent. We both had steaks but we could just as easily have had something else other than steak. Personally, it is not somewhere I could have eaten frequently because of the cost but, for me, it is ideal for special occasions. I suggest it is well worth checking out their website for more information and special offers.

Amazing place to eat, if you love steak this is the best place in town. Went to Gaucho’s on a date night with my wife and we both were pleased by the service received. The waiter presented us with a choice of meat and he explained each cuts to us. Loved the atmosphere and vibe. I reserved in advance I would suggest to book beforehand, as this place seem to be always full due to being really popular in town. Would definitely recommend this place if you want class and great service.

Came with friends last weekend and the service was very slow, although the waiter was friendly, we felt he wasn’t paying much notice to our table (we kept having to get their attention). Furthermore we all asked for a variety of cooking preferences for our steak, however we all received medium rare (which was not what we asked). Mac and cheese was not tasty at all, tastes a lot different to the one I had in another Gaucho.

The taste of the food is good but the portions are small and very simple/unimaginative presentation. They literally put a am ball prev piece of steak in the middle of the plate and that's it. Potatoes in a small bucket on the side. Not worth the money. The one dish that looked a bit more interesting was with a disappointing taste. The jarred red roasted peppers I buy at the supermarket taste better than what they served. Not giving them 2nd chance anytime soon.

We were in Birmingham for our first anniversary and decided to dine at Gaucho based on reviews. They do halal steaks, though not the full menu selection, which is a big plus. Very well decorated and nice ambiance. I am sure its part of the atmosphere they are going for but music was playing too loud for our liking. We had to shout across the table to have a conversation and even listening to what the waitresses were saying was a bit difficult. Not optimal for an intimate dinner. Food was lovely though. Steaks were full of flavor and the sauces were excellent. Wife missed proper sharp steak knives but I didn't feel the need. It was our anniversary so we were pleasantly surprised by a dessert plate wishing us happy anniversary. Very lovely personal touch.

The Ribeye steak and lamb at Gaucho was absolutely amazing. It was cooked to perfection and tasted like a piece of heaven. It was absolutely perfect. The steak was just phenomenal. I’d definitely return for the ribeye because I don’t think I’ve ever had better ribeye steak in my life. The peppercorn sauce was so lovely. The mac and cheese was amazing. The mashed potatoes were absolutely delicious. The chips were okay - nothing special at all. I’d skip those! The virgin Tiki drink was overly sweet so I wouldn’t recommend that unless you want diabetes.

Thursday is the day!!! 90 minutes to enjoy a succulent meat platter with Rump, Sirloin and Ribeye and chips as much as you can eat. Applies for wine as well as much as you can drink. (reasonably of course). We had cocktails as well l, fantastic and reasonably priced. Starters were absolutely fantastic both the burratta and the scallops, perfectly cooked, well seasoned for an exquisite result. Then meat time came in, left me speechless, how tasty and generous the platter are! Around 300grms per piece and we managed to eat two platters within 45 minutes, then felt defeated and did not get a 3rd one. We asked staff about the record number of platters and it seems to be five!!! Wow that is an achievement! Worth mentioning service is brilliant, great attention to details, no need to seek waitress to get a refill if chips, meat or wine. Waitress and waiters are keeping an attentive eye to fulfill your desires. Excellent night out, set up is beautiful, seats comfy. Can't speak highly enough of this restaurant. Will definitely visit again with an immense pleasure and will be bringing family and friends along!

For my missus's birthday, I was looking for the best steak one can find in Birmingham. Reviews pointed me towards Gaucho, so I booked a table on their website. Once we got there, a beautiful experience started. Unlike most fancy places I visited, these gentlemen had properly trained staff. Marco, our waiter, who was on his first day made us feel like royalty, helped us pick the best steak I've had in 10 years and assisted with the wine picking which he nailed exquisitely! Bravo Marco!!! Grazie mille! Now comes the food part - I've been trying steak houses across Britain for the past 12 years and while I've had some good steaks, they paled in comparison to the Chateaubriand that the chef cooked to perfection. The wine pairing was flawless. So tender, so soft... Ah... For 2 days afterwards, all we kept thinking about was that amazing steak. Finally, even though we had dessert, we received a complimentary Panna Cotta on the house. And this wasn't your average pudding - it was proper Panna Cotta, so we not only appreciated the gesture, but enjoyed it to the fullest. Pricing is on par with the experience, but it's definitely worth your money. We'll be coming back! Thank you Gaucho for an experience we won't soon forget <3 Big up!

For others, really nice experience as you get to pick which steak peice you would like before it's cooked. Really lovely experience, only downside for me was that all the side sauces contained alcohol and limited halal options.

Please bear this in mind when using the buyagift vouchers here i.e received as a gift and we chose to use it here. Upon arrival we was greeted by staff and offered to sit and have a drink as we arrived early, so we did. Beer is excellent and bar staff were great, so a good start for gaucho. We was waiting for about 30 mins after our seating time for our table to be ready, despite the place being pretty quiet at the time. Where as other couples who turned up were being seated right away. Suspicions started to rise. We got to our table, our waiter greeted us and his energy shifted as soon as he realised we were voucher customers, his energy shifted from welcoming and greeting to looking down his nose at us for having the audacity to use a voucher in this establishment. Starter was wonderful cannot rate it enough. Ribeye great cut of meat but no trace of any seasoning Dessert with espresso was plenty to round off the meal and really good. The second waiter that appeared towards the end was a pleasure to be around and made sure we was looked after. Drinks are very expensive but that's to be expected. If you're a customer who is paying with their own money I'm sure the experience will be better for you. But if you're going to use a buyagift voucher from a loved one here I can't advise you to. Your experience will be greatly diminished and you will be treated as 'voucher trash'. Regardless of the way customers pay, try not to be prejudiced against them if you want people to come back here.

From start to finish my experience with Gaucho was top class. My colleagues and I were celebrating a milestone and booked ahead. When we arrived, our host was really courteous. He even took a photo of the four of us together (and was very patient with us!) We were seated and asked if we'd been to Gaucho before. We hadn't, so our server told us a bit about the restaurant and what they served including a drink special (Negroni) and the wines. She sorted us with drinks then came back with a board of steaks to talk us through them. We all ordered the Fillet with different sides and sauces as well as the sausage platter to share. We were brought complimentary bread and a delicious topping. The platter arrived and was nothing short of glorious! There was a mix of chorizo and black pudding on a bed of some type of sauce. It was devoured in minutes. The steaks were beautiful. I didn't need a steak knife as it was so tender! It was a lovely night. Everyone was friendly and professional. Additionally, it's not as expensive as I thought. Other places I've been rince you on the cost of sides, but here, fries and sauces come free with the steaks, additional sides are only £5 and they're big enough to share. The wine was also very good. In short, I'd highly recommend!

Gaucho isn’t just a steak restaurant it’s a feast on the senses. It’s bright, elaborate modern art decor is more a nod to the reels of the cinema than the humble surroundings of an Argentine eatery. The experience is awe-inspiring from beginning to end. The beautiful, warm Birmingham front desk staff lead with panache. The Argentine's take centre stage offering South American hospitality to the food service. It takes a while to adjust to the incandescent, sociable surroundings. There is definitely a buzz generated by the open restaurant and upbeat lounge music. A pre-night out venue this definitely is and well positioned in the city centre to accommodate. Remember this is fine dining, as such with an Argentine twist on the flavours. I opted for the tasting menu, expensive, but unique and beautifully presented. The steak may have been centre stage, but it was the delicate ceviche and dolce vita that stood out. So delicately prepared. The food and the cinematic lights fed the stomach and eyes. It was the rooted, perceptive service that won my heart. This is why I heartfelt-edly recommend Gaucho.

Beautifully presented restaurant with accommodating and friendly staff. We initially went without a reservation for drinks but decided to try some food. Amazing spot for some good steaks. Got taken there for a birthday meal. I went for the 500g rib eye which was amazing, to say the least. Cooked to perfection for me and just amazing quality meat with excellent flavours. Had some sides to go with it also, some of the smoothest mashed potatoes that I have ever had. The heritage carrots with goat curds were amazing. I ordered the tender stem broccoli also which I was very disappointed to then be served normal florets of broccoli(you can clearly see this in my photos). The rest of the meal was very good but I just assumed that they had run out during service, upon paying the bill I asked about the broccoli and was told that they didn't have any tender stem broccoli in today as an issue with a supplier. This would be the only disappointment of the evening as it was something they knew about and wasn't mentioned when our order was taken. Overall I would say if you are in the area then definitely swing by and get yourself a succulent steak!!

Absolutely AMAZING!! The brunch food menu is out of the world. The food is incredible. The drinks definitely could have been quicker. If you've only got 90 mins to eat and drink as much as you want for £62 you need the staff to be quicker in getting drink orders. Other than that it was perfect. Will definitely be back.

Gaucho is my favourite steak restaurant. There is something special about this place. It's warm, elegant, cosy. They've recently changed the menu adding more options. We went there numerous times and we were never disappointed. They serve coktails, spirits, beer, vine. They serve lunch and dinner, whichever option you go for, you won't be disappointed.

It is one of 16 restaurants nationally, and one of four based outside of London, with the first branch opening in London around 25 years ago. ⁣⁣ Drinks: Being lacto-vegetarian (therefore most of the menu not being suitable) and having already booked to visit Legna later that evening, we dropped in to visit the bar area only (see photos). We communicated to the lady tending the bar that we were strictly teetotal, and she offered to mix tailored "off-menu" drinks for us, for which we were very appreciative. Two drinks were prepared, one sweet with a cranberry and apple base, and the other with a pineapple and coconut base. Both were very refreshing. ⁣ Service:⁣ Gaucho was fairly empty upon our arrival in the early evening. As mentioned above, the lady tending the bar was very helpful and accommodating of our dietary requirements. ⁣ Decor:⁣ Gaucho is very plushly decorated with furnishings inspired by the Argentinian rainforest. There is very little natural light in the restaurant, and all areas are quite dimly but appropriately lit for the type of restaurant. We didn't stay for dinner, but we did take the liberty of looking around the restaurant areas. ⁣ Timing:⁣ We arrived at about 5:30pm and stayed for around 30 mins. Intending to visit the bar only, we had not pre-booked. Any other comments: We enjoyed ourselves so much, and were eager to get onto the next chapter of our evening, such that I almost forgot to pay on exit. The bar staff were very understanding of this.

Nothing spectacular! Price performance is not what you will find here... so my brother ordered chateaubriand with which we had fries as our side along with Bearnaise and pepper corn being the sauces we chose to accompany the meat. Beef was just above average in tenderness(meant to be medium rare but was slightly under cooked for it to be) and tasted as such. Slightly too chewy for a £100 cut of beef so they should find an upgrade to their current butcher in my opinion. Flavoured well enough but for me the bearnaise stole the show as it gave the meat that edge it was lacking. Fries had been dragged through the salt mill. Decor and vibe was weak, seems to be trying too hard to achieve affluence. Staff that served us were great and apologies to the first waitress for my inappropriate comedy routine. Drinks very expensive but then my brother's fault for ordering XO hennesey(doubles). Fun night out in covid nevertheless!

We had to shout across the table to have a conversation and even listening to what the waitresses were saying was a bit difficult. Not optimal for an intimate dinner. Food was lovely though. Steaks were full of flavor and the sauces were excellent. Wife missed proper sharp steak knives but I didn't feel the need. It was our anniversary so we were pleasantly surprised by a dessert plate wishing us happy anniversary. Very lovely personal touch.

Hands down one of the best steakhouses I have ever tried. The steak melts in your mouth and it's all buttery and delicious. There are some excellent sauce options, however I opted to not take any. There chips the accompany the steak are really good too. I found the atmosphere very relaxing, fancy and elegant. Note that I opted to get a halal steak which they recommend you call 48 hours in advance for. However, they had some in stock even though I didn't book or anything. The steak I got was a sirloin steak, but I am not sure if they have other halal cuts if you call in advance. But all in all a very nice experience and I hope to come again soon for a special occasion.

Was a good experience overall and the steak was excellent. A few issues that annoyed me - the starters from the set menu left a lot to be desired (I went for the lamb empanada and my partner went for the seabass ceviche which were ok at best) but the mains (both ordered rib-eye steaks) more than made up for the disappointing starters. Another aspect I really did not like was the fact that we had to ask for the set menu (early dinner/pre theater menu) as this should have been brought out with the main menu (as also that a service charge of 10% is automatically added to the bill). Please make sure all your customers are aware of ALL of the menus that you offer!

Not great value for money in my opinion. Been here a few times and it's quite average all round. The steaks are good and the service usually is too. But you can't help get the feeling it's all a bit show and no go. The little things would improve this place drastically, like making sure the toilets are checked regularly and speeding up the drinks service. The prices are reasonable at first but great for the quality of food you receive. The atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxing yet sophisticated. We were greeted by a friendly host who took our coats and escorted us into the bar for a pre meal drink. The Bartenders were extremely knowledge about the drinks on the menu as well as providing me with an off the menu old fashioned cocktail which tasted amazing. After being led to the table our waitress greeted us and walked us through the wines by region to select on that paired well with our potential menu choices. Supplying us with a bread board, she reappeared with a board of stake cuts to talk us through the meat selection and was very well versed in the types of cut and provided me with information I didn't know beforehand. We chose the mixed steak platter to get the best experience of all the cuts of meat and I can honestly say everyone was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and each was full of flavour. Unfortunately we were too full to indulge in the wonderful selection of desserts, but plan to head back again! Would highly recommend for the excellent service, high attention to detail and exquisite food and drinks.

First time here very classy restaurant and cocktail bar. We came for cocktails and ordered a couple off the menu. When the waiter came to bring them over the bottom fell out of one of the glasses and the contents went everywhere. The waiter was really very apologetic and his colleague and him cleaned everything up. The manager came over. A really nice guy and said if any clothing needed dry cleaning they would pay for it. But I said no need. We carried on and had our drinks replaced and they were excellent. We ordered two other cocktails which were brilliant as well and then I went to pay the bill to be told that it was all on the house. I said no I wanted to pay but was politely told no and hope the incident wouldn't stop us from coming again I was amazed as the bar bill was over £46 I will definitely go to use the restaurant again and can highly recommend the service. Went for a meal, lunchtime on a Friday. For the price of the meal, I would expect perfection and, whilst very good, I think it is a bit style over substance. I had scallops to start and they were lovely but, at £17.50 for 3 scallops, very expensive. For main, I had the marinated fillet - the steak was great, the blue cheese sauce very good and it was served with either salad OR chips (further sides are extra) - at £50, you would expect it to be very good though so no surprise. The waiting service is very pretentious, much like the other Gaucho's, but great if you like that kind of thing - I find it a bit annoying and our party of 5 were interrupted a number of times mid-conversation. However, great quality fit-out / ambiance (apart from the WCs being a bit smelly) and great food.

Still underground, but less steel and mirrors, more drapery which means the echo and noise has abated considerably, which makes it a much more pleasant experience. This is THE place to have steak, it's fabulous in that regard. Also good for lunch and evenings alike. Being Argentinian, they cook things on the rarer side of normal for me, so my tip for diners is thus: where steak is concerned I normally go 'medium-rare', but here I go 'medium' and that is perfect, and I mean perfect. Vegetarians will find a very slim choice, so check the menu online first if you think this may sway your booking or enjoyment

Had a mixed experience at Gaucho. First impressions were good, a very plush restaurant. Found it slightly strange that the 3 cheapest bottles of wine were unavailable (could have been as NYE?), and the waitress didn't seem to know what wines they actually did have in. The steak came quickly and was very tasty and cooked as requested. Unfortunately we had a side order of brocoli that came cold. But, once we complained a fresh, hot batch was delivered promptly. However as soon as our empty plates had been taken away, the hostess said she needed the table and asked us move to the bar. Bare in mind we'd only been at out table for just over an hour and still had a full glass of wine each to finish. We thought this was rather rude given we'd just spent £90 for the privilege of booking and eating at the table. In summary, food was good, service was sub par.

Gorgeous food but not a great interior design; to start with you go from the bright outside (on a good day) down a dark ramp (dark navy plush carpet) into what feels like a dungeon! No natural light to be seen, just lots of fairy lights for need of a better word and mirrors. Felt really uncomfortable from word go. I have been following this restaurant on Facebook since it opened and it has been high on my list to visit. My husband and I went for lunch on 1st October 2017. The restaurant itself is beautiful, very modern with lovely atmospheric lighting however extremely noisy, so much so that you cannot hear what the waitress is talking to you about. We were greeted upon entering and shown to our table before ordering drinks. My husband had a glass of the Argentinian Malbec which he said was nice but not worth the £13.50 price tag. We had 3 courses - salt beef crostini for a starter, roast beef Sunday lunch for the main and dulce de leche cheesecake for dessert. The food was superb especially the crostini, that’s high up there as a favourite for me! The roast beef was very tasty and the vegetables cooked to perfection although we slightly disappointed at only being given 2 roast potatoes each which seemed a little stingy. The cheese cake - Yum! Staff were very attentive from the moment we entered the restaurant - friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, nothing was too much of a problem. It’s a shame however they added the service charge to the bill, I find it quite rude and feel a table should decide for themselves how much of a tip should be left rather than having it forced upon them. Overall a great visit with fantastic food if a little expensive. We will be returning but would be for a special occasion only.

Spectacular! The premises, the service, the food. To be honest cant remember what we had for Starters but I had the Ribeye, Sirloin and Rump with Mash Potato (the dish came with chips and they accommodated my "Mash" request with no problem) and my husband had Rump and Double (or could be triple) fried chips. We are West Indian and therefore season our meat to the nth degree - the meat was not only tender but tasted as if it had been seasoned by a fellow West Indian!!!! I have no higher accolade to give!!! Additionally, in the 90s, we use to spend many long weekends in Amsterdam, many of our dinners in Gauchos, and although we were worried it wouldnt be up to par, these worries were unfounded. Our Food Attendant (feel terrible can't recall his name) was just that - attentive to a T. We ate here for 1st Jan 2018 (we were staying at Hotel du Vin) and it was a fantastic start to New Year. Personally we thought it was great value for money (my husband was sure we use to pay more back in the day in Leidedplein, yeah whatevs) and I would recommend it to anyone seeking somewhere special for a great meal!!!
