Pros: - Chicken Satay was Yum - Sunday Roast was really good Incredibly good in fact. I had the chicken. Vegetables were very tasty and presentation was nice. - Staff were friendly. - Environment was nice and clean. Cons: -We had our food in the bar area which yes was aware it wasn't the main restaurant but would have been nice for staff to at least bring you cutlery. Instead it was very self service for each course. - Desserts were limited and not the best. The profiteroles were a big let down. Was close to 4 stars just for the quality of the roast.

I've been going to this pub for over 35 years and it seems to get better all the time. I had so many Birthday parties at this pub and holds special memories to me. Today we had Easter Lunch and it certainly didn't disappoint. The staff were so friendly and attentive. My nephew and niece didn't want a starter but wanted some bread with butter.This was not a problem and the staff brought this out. Sunday lunch as usual was exceptional with plenty of food and vegetables to try and eat. Cod and leek filo pastry to start with and a pea puree. Superb and light. Roast Chicken was succulent and tender. Creme Brulee to finish was divine. Credit where credit is due.

We called here on Friday evening en route to Sheffield. Excellent location just off the motorway Jct3, M42. Staff were very friendly and quickly found us a table. Ordered food at the bar and food was definitely cooked fresh to order so there was a little wait, but for freshly cooked meals this is to be expected. All three meals ordered were delicious and after finding this pub this will be where we stop in the future. A definite bonus that it's dog friendly 🙂🙂

Had their fish finger and steak sandwiches. Both good sized portions and tasty, the steak was excellent, unlike most others it wasn't chewy or tough it just melted in the mouth, delicious and good value for money. Staff were really nice also.

This place would be so much better if it wasn't run by kids. Food is generally good, if a little pricey. Great range of beers, nice, clean atmosphere, but the staff need customer service training for sure. If theres only a few people, they decide to close early, making it VERY obvious you need to go soon. Service, twice in the garden, food came and no cutlery, sauces etc. Luke, who’s apparently a manager…..shocking……whos is probably the most laziest and unfriendly staff ive seen in a pub! Emily was incredibly friendly and really caring.

We eat here quite regular, the food is always to a good standard and the portions are huge... Good selection of beers, always plenty of staff working and plenty of room, it's a big pub. Summer time the rear gardens are great too, kids love it and there's events on through the summer usually as well. Great pub 👍

The food was amazing, I was there meeting someone very special to me for the first time, I'd explained this to them and asked if we could have a table tucked away a bit, it was the perfect corner, they had to kick us out at 11-30 pm. they could have shut up and gone home at 10-30 but they stayed open for us. Bit of an awkward place to get to but it is a lovely restaurant with gorgeous garden area. Meals are delicious, I think i had a salmon fish cake with salad and sweet potato fries. Very filling and that was a starter! Staff are very welcoming and accommodating. I have been the Rose and Crown twice and it has never failed to impress me.

Went for Sunday lunch 7 of us, looks like it had been refurbished lovely interior, friendly efficient staff, fantastic roast beef and all the trimmings, soup was delicious as was the crumble, all presented beautifully and the gravy was 5 stars! Lovely food as always, but the roasts are too big. The amount of leftovers was embarrassing. As strange as it sounds, portions should be significantly reduced on their roasts. Would've happily paid for a dessert if that were the case, but creating more waste would've been wrong.

We went to this pub, post covid, we have had a covid takeaway and today we have had a full roast. On no occasion was the service or food below par. We were greeted in co I'd style to our table where service at the table was provided. This service was excellent. Our order was taken which again was helpful along with the help with wine choice. I saved myself all day so I had a good old fashioned Prawn cocktails, followed by a beef roast and the pecan tart with a very smooth and tasty cream. My wife had a pork roast and most of my pudding. All of it was tasty, cooked to my liking and hot, smashing. I will definately be going again.

I love this pub. It is in a nice setting, the service is good and the food is realy nice. The fact this pub is always very busy, would suggest lots of people agree with me. You also dont see anti social behavior in this pub, its very family orientated. I cant wait to visit again, and would advise the great british public to visit this splendid location.

Unfortunately didn't get any photos as I was too busy enjoying great company and fantastic food. When we got there the manager working explained that there might be a long wait for food as they were short staffed in the kitchen - we didn't mind. We were seated, and food orders taken within 5-10 minutes. We were expecting over an hour wait for food after being told that service might be slow but food came out in 30-40 minutes, which wasn't very long at all. Gave us all time to sit and relax whilst having a drink. Food was delicious. All together we had two mixed grills, half a rack of ribs and skin on chips, and steak and skin on chips. I had the ribs and must say they are the best I've ever had! The skin on chips were great too. I'm usually a fussy eater so didn't think I would like them but they were cooked perfectly. Everyone around the table loved their food. Would definitely come back here.

We went here for the first time in about 3 years - and it was as good as we'd expected. The food was excellent (particularly the steak, which had been cooked exactly as ordered). Decent quantities of everything (a little too much in the way of veggies to go with Sunday lunch, if I'm honest, but well prepared) and the kids' menu is very good. The only reasons for knocking a star off were the service, which was good - but not brilliant... and the clientele. This was probably down to us booking a table on a Sunday at 4.30pm when the staff had had an understandably busy shift - but also that there were tables of families who just couldn't/wouldn't control their hordes of kids. Will definitely be back, but will book later in the evening when hopefully the place feels a little more grown up. All in all, highly recommended... just time it right.

Great pub and restaurant. We come here regularly. Plenty of options on the menu. Try the sharing platters on the starters. Fried food is cooked to perfection - never greasy. Booking is recommended and they have recently introduced a £5 per head deposit on bookings, probably to discourage no shows, so I would support that. Nice garden in the summer.

Food was well cooked but on the expensive side but where isn't these days. There's a large beer garden with seperate children's area. Couldn't understand why no one was out there. The bar areas looked nicely decorated as well as the dining room.

They hosted a works party of 24, and both the food and the service was exceptional. No pre ordering was requested so we could all decide on the night and even with the larger party all the food came out at the same time, was fresh, delicious and enormous portions. Mmmm mighty dissapointing..i was given six chips..yep 6 chips little fatter than my finger, but all the same felt it was very fruggle! I did mention it to the waitress, asked whats happend, she said change of menu..... Prior to lock down you was given a huge portion of thin chips which were excellent.... Desert was lovely... but please rectify the chips please!!!

Expensive Steak House. Quite an expensive place to eat, but convivial atmosphere in evening. No real cheap options at lunchtime unless you go for sandwiches or panines or take advantage of their "2 for 20 pound" meal offer which unfortunately does not apply on Fridays or weekends. Decor is the now international standard of big print wallpaper, downlights and cushions. Only thing that makes it different to a million other places are the delightful hanging baskets and real pot plants. Only two ales on draft which is a shame considering the number of micro breweries in the area.

despite popping in with no reservation they managed to find us a table for 2 adults and 2 children the greeting staff courteous and helpful table service quick and efficient orders taken quickly speed of service - very quick service starters under 5 mins to come out and to be honest very large portions we ordered garlic bread and nacho shares and were almost full after these main dishes were excellently presented hot and brought out quickly after starters cleared The kids meals were large and luckily I have 2 hungry children who managed to polish them off My wife ordered the Cajun burger and I had a full rack of ribs (this was two whole sides ) served on wooden boards with sauces skin on fires and crispy shredded onion what can I say tasty and very succulent the meat literally fell off the bones I would definitely recommend this place the gardens were good easy parking and great staff with great food make this an enjoyable experience
