Reviews of Taste of Pakistan- Pakistani Restaurant
s. m.
Good service, family friendly environment. Food is good and the service. All place is decorated with famous Pakistani "Truck Art".
A. G.
We tried here while coming back to London .
Decor is nice but food is not very good .
Parsthas are too thick overhaul average.
Tea was also average.
K. H.
Had a craving for falooda so visited this evening just before closing. The falooda was very good compared to others that I have tried. Cannot comment on any other item on the menu.
Venue was screaming Pakistan from every angle. They even had the national anthem on the wall in case you felt the need to sing out aloud and show your patriotism.
A. P.
Loved this place. They have a wondeeful interior, variet of food, sweets, breakfast. This is a must visit place if you are looking for authentic pakistani flavours in the UK.
f.
Decor and set up is absolutely beautiful and colourful. We were lucky enough to get the private booth with a curtain and carpet seating, which was also very comfortable and well decorated. Food was tasty and served quickly by helpful staff. Staff were welcoming and friendly. I do recommend if you’re nearby or passing through :)
M. A. T.
If you're looking for a quick bite with a decent sitting area and nicely set Pakistani dhaba styled ambience, then it's a very good option. There's public parking right opposite which is very convenient. Service is very friendly too.
However, food quality is average for the stuff we tried. Not sure if any item is freshly cooked, it's mostly reheated. Even the tea felt old and had a bit of a foul smell.
H. k.
Nice renovation great touch of Pakistani culture and most new added FALOODA. After a long time find authentic taste of falooda definitely coming again! Bright n colourful interior, taste of Pakistan true to its name. Tasty food
R. M.
Very friendly staff, and absolutely delicious food too. Me & my brother went for the first time after dropping our parents to the airport.
We're not from B'ham, we're from further north but would certainly go again.
The Poori Channai with halwa were divine. The doodh lassi hit the spot, and the desi omlette was lovely too. We also tried a paratha which was so nice and crunchy. I couldn't fault anything, and that's a massive compliment from your above average food critic :D
Even the facilities were super clean, and family friendly. There are booths separated by sheets for privacy and due to Covid, but it's great for privacy. The toilets were also clean, and I give a massive thumbs up for the lota.
We had such a nice experience all in all that we took take out for the family after our trip back to Sheffield.
Highly recommended desi nashta place, you won't be disappointed.

I am coming to the restaurant from Nottngham
I advised all to visit it
As will there are lady is very good and helpful to what you eat

We went on a weekday morning and it was pouring down. We thought it would be lovely to have a fresh desi breakfast. We ordered parata, haleem, chickpea halwa and an omelette with two cups of tea. Let me tell you this place did not disappoint. Very hot and fresh and the paratas were freshly made and crunchy. We were satisfied at the end and will be visiting again!

A beautiful Pakistani truck art styled restaurant in Birmingham. It is a very vibrant place with plenty of seating upstairs. Authentic punjabi styles chairs. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. Their menu consists of almost every notable Pakistani/Punjabi dish, and tastes very authentic. We ordered sindhi biryani, lamb karahi, and haleem, with salted lassi. All in all fantastic place and is highly recomended.
P. H.
Visited on a lunchtime. Had daal mash, roti and chai. Then Vege pakora samosas and katalanas to go.
The decor was spectacular. Like eating in a Pakistani truck park. Sitting there with all the Pakistani families really did make me feel as though I was in Pakistan.
The service was pay at counter deliver to table.
The food was good and filling. A proper old school eatery with takeaway sweets and chats.
It has a new 5 star hygiene rating and that was evident.
The owner wouldn't sell me the chainak on display, turns out the tea kettles and truck are available on Etsy.
K. K.
Excellent food at reasonable prices, beautifully decorated shop.
A. R.
The place and decor of the shop is really nice. The presentation of the food display is very appealing. I purchased one portion halwa puri with Pakistani tea. Although the food was ok, the portions were small and the puris were cold. They charged me £4.00 for one portion which is pretty much standard but I think you can get more for what you pay for elsewhere. Then again it's still ok.
S.
Great food with reasonable prices. Very clean and very friendly staff. Traditional look, feels like in Lahore. Parking across the road. It’s a place never should be missed while in Birmingham.
S. Q.
Loved it food was so tasty. Beautiful place enjoyed our traditional breakfast. I would visit again defo.
a. a.

Very good food, by far best desi breakfast I've had at a restaurant. Good sized portions and price topped it off. No complaints.

M. W. R. E.
Amazing food. Should definitely try the nehari and paya with puri.. The desi tea is simply awesome
I. S.
Very busy, had halwa puri and paratha omelette, halwa, puri was OK. Paratha was nice.
H. B.
Family friendly.
Food was nice👌
N. H.
True taste of Pakistani Breakfast. Busy place been a few times on a Sunday mornings and this place is busy expect a wait for a table, staff is prompt but need more waiters to cope with customers, Buffet breakfast is a good option for big eaters.
A. K.
It was my first time to Taste of Pakistan. My taste buds never tasted such flavours authentic & rich in taste. Loved it & will definitely come again.
S. H.
Stopped in here on our journey back to London after our planned stop off in the same area was closed
Wow! Simply the best curry we’ve ever had. Tender lamb, fresh spices along with fresh, fluffy naan. All at an amazingly cheap price
I just wish it was closer to home
Highly recommended
M. A.
Food was delicious specially pratha and khoya lassi.
a. a.
Great food and very busy on a Sunday late morning early afternoon.
Food was amazing especially the nyari.
M. W. R. E.
Amazing food. Should definitely try the nehari and paya with puri.. The desi tea is simply awesome
S. A.
Busy business, more staff need to serve specially on Sundays.
Taste can be improved, Chana need to make better. No pickle, no attendant to serve something after serving the main order.
M. A.
Wow- rang up. Within 10 minutes food ready. The owner was a lovely guy. Offered endless cups of tea. Would again go for a breakfast. This was not in Birmingham... more like Pakistan. Truly authentic and full of traditional food.
S. Q.
Small proper dhaba style. Vibrant & very creative. Food was amazing.
R. K.
Excellent halwa poori. The chpalee kebabs are truly worth it.
Will alway visit to get some halwa poori on weekends.
Try their pink tea, it is awesome.
P. A.
A very good place for snacks especially samosa, pakora, kachori, seekh kebab etc. Their falooda is excellent.
Its a good place for breakfast and you get most options available.
We revisited this place recently for breakfast and changed my rating. its a 5 star place for Punjabi breakfast in Birmingham. The parathas, naans, halwa puri, lassi, chana, paye everything was excellent.
A. H.
Food was good and delicious but the only problem was there is no parking.
M. K.
Haven’t tried other stuff but been trying thier Faluda regularly … without doubt one of the best in Birmingham for Faluda
M. M.
Best Pakistani breakfast in UK that I had.
Authentic Nihari and Haleem
a. a.
Very busy. Food was ok, deco retro
f. j.
Amazing decoration authentic Pakistani style but disappointed with food chana curry and chicken haleem had too chilli then paratha was so much oil just like deep fried...
w. s.
Very nice food especially the breakfast. Great service too
M. A.
Halwa Paratha and Naan were very nice. Kashmiri Tea was great but desi tea was more like English tea. Very nice sitting place but can be very busy.
A. D. H.
Great service. Top noch food. Great taste. Very good decor
R. K.
Taste of pakistan sounds great was looking to find freshly cooked currys straight out of the kitchen.
Unfortunately this place dont live up to its name as nothing taste like pakistani food.
Food as pre cooked and re heated in microwave.
Thats not what you get in pakistan no one in pakistan even know how to use that awful device.
Im being generous at 3 stars as the people who run the shop seemed very friendly.
Samosa kebabs and currys all pre cooked and not very good standard.
This place also sells sweets that I never tried.
So maybe I'll review it again.
Orderd alot of food and made them make a fresh curry straight from kitchen.
Looked great but again had high hopes on this one full chicken curry was ok but unfortunately they really put too much chill powder in the dish and damaged my taste buds.
Overall their place has low standards of cooking.
Starters are really not tasty.
Price reasonably.
n. r.
Cheap and cheerful munch for 2 adults and 2 children.
1 katlama
1 chappal kebab
1 large fries
1 veg samosa chaat
2 cokes 1 pepsi 1 ribena
1 chicken karahi
1 aloo saag
2 roti
2 naan
bill was £27
Food was well cooked and had light seasoning without the typical spicyness of pak/indo food.
Chappal kebab was nice thick and meaty.
Katlama was well cooked with a good meat to pastry ratio.
Karahi and aloo saag had a nice homecooked taste minus the chilli.
Decor is nice bright and light, chairs are oversized and hard, not really suited for young children.
D. T.
Very tasty and karara food. Tried sindhi biryani, lamb karahi, chick peas, etc.
Sweets were average, ice cream was more like asda ice cream.
Very friendly service
T. S.
I went here on Sunday for breakfast. Chaney were nice, one was good, halfway poor good, tea was excellent. The paranta was well I don't know if it even was a paranta, I didn't recognize it. Order was wrong but eventually sorted. Decor was a big novelty, this is a criticism of general shopping in Birmingham now why didn't anybody wear a mask?
f.
The place itself was very aesthetic, with the vibrant colours and theme it had. It really gave me the vibe of being in Pakistan and the respect they had for it especially with the Pakistani National Anthem on the wall. The staff members were very helpful and also helped us decide what we might like. The food itself was very delicious but could be improved with minor touches (my opinion don't mean to offend anyone) but overall I really enjoyed it there. The music collection that they had was also just on point - not too overbearing and not too quiet, just right. I had a great time and would definitely recommend, would also be visiting again to check out some more food😁
E. A.
Good food.. but eat in service is not the best..
m. K.
Salaah room wasnt available due to someone sleeping in there !!!
Food was nice. Heartburn day after due to richness.
Nihari and the daal werent great.
Chappal kebabs best i have had
Lassi was very nice
T. K.
great food, good service. Reasonable prices
X. M.
Good food expect to break your bank if you go here.
U. F.
Good food and taste. Usually have a visit duting weeknds
M. S.
If you want to wish for a real taste of Pakistan, this is the place for you. Traditional halwa puri and katlama nashta was a real treat. One star less just because the pink tea was not as it should be and a bit too sugery.
S. H.
Yum yum yum... desi n authentic with lovely ambience
l. a.
We thoroughly enjoyed our nashta good food and good surroundings
S. I.
They Do Great Faloodas For All You Falooda Lovers! Also would recommend to try out their Chapli Kebabs!
B. Y.
I really enjoyed the food, good value for money and authentic taste of Pakistan. I would definitely recommend. The Chapli kebab was lovely :)
S. N.
Food was nice , not too oily this time . Love the refurbishment and that feeling of Pakistan. However I think still the service is not great . So no smiles and friendly conversation. I don't expect a full blown convo but at least courteous and welcoming smile when you enter would not go amiss!
N. A.
Overpriced could do with a bit clean need staff upstairs to clean up tables floor very dirty stuff not very
M. K.
Very professional place, very kind and helpful staff. You don't have any workers gawking at you here or talking behind your back unlike chuckys chippy, my friend used to be a regular at that backstreet dump, fast forward he asked for his change the owner and his brothers went at the back talking about him. When my mate caught them, owners younger brother aged 20-23 with rectangle beard gave him dirty looks when he confronted him he asked my friend to come outside where he gave him sickening mouthful of threats. Absolutely disgusting am still triggered who the heck is he to run his mouth to the strangers??
S. A.
Breakfast was a bit oily. Falooda and Somosa chaat are great though.
M. A.
The place itself is very colourful and plenty to look and talk about.
Service was good, got everything in a timely manner
Food was excellent and very tasty
W. A.
Excellent food, it reminded me of Pakistan, due to the covid 19 restrictions we can't travel to Pakistan so next best thing, relaxed family environment, I loved my visit.
D. M. R.
Tried their katlama and chapli kebabs mmmmmm! They were tasty and fresh. Very generous with sauces. Can't wait to try their other sweets, would recommend 👍🏻👍🏻
M. 5.
Perfect place for Breakfast, Kashmiri tea was sweet yet tasty زابدست
F. Z.
Good food.
Breakfast was just lovely fresh and tasty.
Host was friendly.
Place was a Lil compact but it's more about food so ll let that one slide. But would have given 4 or 5 stars if they had beef nihari...lamb nihari doesn't really taste like original one. And Lil runny as well.
O. O. C.
A proper authentic attempt at replicating the cultural heritage of Pakistan though the colours, set up downstairs and upstairs right from outside with the mini car and moped lol at this sweet shop. They have a variety of sweets and kulfis (ice-creams) and do Pakistani Nashta (Breakfast) as well which I haven't yet tasted but sweets were tasty as the name states. Customer service was good.
F. A.
Went for Nashta (breakfast), it was good atmosphere, they have recent refurbishment, giving it a look of dhaba. Nihari was 10/10, but paye could improve alot.
M. V.
Great breakfast menu and have had samisa chaat for lunch which is tasty and the portion is huge
S. M.
Delicious desi food its really taste of Pakistan. Very recommended 👌👌👌
M. C.
Best breakfast in birmingham. All food was fresh and hot. Excellent customer service, staff were extremely friendly. Been here so many times and not regretted it once. The decor was amazing. Truck art brights colours enlighten the mood 🤩
F. R.
Decent food but true pakistan. Can get charged different prices on different occasions. Been charged 6 quid for halwa and tea. Last time paid 2.50.
No consistency. Not cleanest place either.
E. J.
Friendly welcome and colourful surroundings, nice food, reasonable prices, good menu. Looking forward to coming back for one of the breakfast selections.
M.
Good takeaway. Taste and quality of food is ok not excellent. Prices are reasonable. Except a small car park nearby there is not as such parking space which is a hassle . Their chicken kachoris and pink tea are nice. Generally food is very oily.
G. Q.
We decided we would have breakfast here since we were visiting Birmingham. The food was nice, loved the traditional look of the restaurant and the atmosphere was good.
m. n.
Absolutely amazing food 😊 mashallah I would highly recommend. I could literally smell Pakistan again even though it's been 15years since I have visited. All the different flavours and cooking style is 100% authentic and you will genuinely appreciate the food
g. k.
The restaurant has narrow staircase height and length so, watch out! Food was really good, they got urdu writing all over the restaurant mashallah and the clerk was really respectful and called me "baita" even though i am 18+ haha which is rare. The lassi was top quality and they have a spacious bottom floor for eating. They could add more variety for falooda though
H. W. H.
Good taste and a nice and clean place.
S. S.
Presentation Or display excellent. And try faluda
A. Z.
Food was nice. Service was very good
A. R.
5 stars for the food, the halva chunnea and poori was very nice Allhamdulilah. May Allah makes us great full for as much of his countless blessings as possible. Ameen
Just an idea that may benefit- more sitting family rooms
H. B.
Its an ok place.
Food is not tasty to my liking.
I had chapli kebabs which seemed like not freshly made. Channa and chicken salan was just fine. Pakoras and nan were good.
z. Z.
Really nice place to enjoy the good and folk art of Pakistan nice tea and coffee ❤️😘❤️
R. M.
We had breakfast there and its not bad but they can improve their food tasty more.
T. k.
New refurbished and nice furniture, uncle ji is back with a bang again cant wait to try uncle's kachori as he is back for couple of years to tweak the taste. Samosas quality has been upgraded and they taste better than before, also the mithai section has been upgraded too, the truck art is brilliant addition to the eatry and will be a vibrant part of the road.
Z. Q.
Very nice restaurant in Birmingham. If you are visiting Birmingham and missing Pakistani food than you must visit this restaurant. Owner is really nice and humble and do care the customers personally. They are from the city of Wazirabad of Pakistan. Highly recommended.
K. N.
Food was very nice. Service was great. Clean place. Very colourful.
N. M.
Yummy treats and savouries. Decorations are fabulously thought out too
J. E.
We normally visit this restaurant for one thing and one thing only..the falooda!..authentic af and the best 1 around this side of the asia!
J. K.
good for halwa puri kashmri tea is nice
M. A.
3 stars for atmosphere which gives you Pakistani vibes but food was not that good as I expected even rass mlai was hot falooda seems like cold coffee
haleem was just ordinary 🥵
In Meat latterly a cup of oil in one plate
Z. H.
What a nice place to eat love the desi decor and the food wad very tasty its like being in Pakistan.
A. E.
Brilliant curries and their signature FALOODA.
Q. B.
Good nashta in the mornings.well priced but the price has definitely gone up recently. A bit of parking right opposite . The pink tea is very sweet and the Chana Puri is brilliant. Can't talk for the rest of menu but loads of people were coming for syri pai etc and so it must be good . Helpful front of house staff
f. A.
Nice renovation great touch of Pakistani culture and most new added FALOODA. After a long time find authentic taste of falooda definitely coming again!
j. a. k.
Good hospitality. Good staff members. But the food just didn't click for me. Food was cooked nicely but the taste was not upto the mark. I had lamb karahi and haleem but was not impressed.
Atmosphere of the restaurant was good indeee with very humble and cooperative staff
M. K.
Very tasty food. Reasonably priced.
M. S. N.
Great looking place but limited food selection during the week
B. O.
I loved the food we always come hair because its our fav place too go!
M. B. Z.
I usually order "Lahori choley" from this place that remind me of pure Lahori food from Pakistan. Their "Sindhi Biryani" is very nice and I would highly recommend to try it.
S. A. C.
This is a nice simple place. First of all they only accept cash. Second parking on the road can be an issue in rush hours. Thirdly its small and not appropriate for families to sit in. Had halwa puri and pink tea 3.5£ and 50p. Taste really good friendly service. Will go again.
O. N.
Excellent venue , good environment and pretty nice touch base to traditions
Avoid buy the stuff from counter as they are not so good however freshly cooked food like Karahi etc are great .
S. K.
Best tea, best halwa and channa
A. H.
Although they make proper Pakistani style food but still they taste doesn't impress me . They make Faloods , haleem paya , Qulfi , Chicken plaou and lots of others items. Prices are high also . They do have sitting place for men and for ladies also . They are doing their business for such a long time . They open till late . One time try shop for every one
A. K.
Wonderful and delicious place. Many food joints offer similar food however that's where the similarity ends. This is a wonderful place . The food is delicious and very authentic. Don't believe me ? Come in the evening and you'll notice everyone in the store is Pakistani
N. S. z.
Best place to get flooda from on ladypool road.
This is the best place in the whole birmingham that sell the best.
It was £3 before and now £4 a bit dear from before but highly recommended xxx
J. S.
Amazing place and even better food.
K. H.
I do like they food
W. R.
Only had the falooda here, but would make a trip again just for that. It was fantastic. Each sip through the (properly far) straw was a perfect mix of noodles, kulfi, rooh afza, and a sprinkle of seeds. Just lovely.
S. A.
Bright n colourful interior, taste of Pakistan true to its name. Tasty food
K. K.
Absolutely amazing, the food the atmosphere. Well impressed!!!
U. H. W. M.
Authentic pakistani food, delicious and fresh
f. i.
A small place serving savories like samosas and jaleebi. I bought falooda last time. It turned out be good, although not the best falooda I ever had. Also had desi chai which was great
W. J.
Decent quality breakfast, good staff
M. A.
The best desi breakfast
N. A.
A nice place to have Pakistan food. Food is average. Speed is good. Prices are slightly above average.
K. F.
Highly recommended. Katlama was one of the best I've ever had and the falooda was just amazing!!
S. S.
In love with their truck theme art. Variety of all desi food was the best thing about them. Excellent service and place to enjoy with family and friends. 👏
S. B.
Very sad no taste at all i buy chic peas taste less and haleem which was ok for eat and kulcha was like stone i think they have no idea about kulcha never try again
M. J.
excellent and genuine drsi food
T. T.
Like Chicken Nihary and Kulfi here. Furniture is nice yet bit uncomfortable. Cleanliness is good.
N. A.
Mash'allah very nice food and great service
A. C.
Lala is a great guy, knows how to handle the local junkies asking for 50p, his katlamas are too good for ladypool road.
j. k.
The katlama can be a little too greasy, other then that samosas, chutney and pakoras spot on. Great service , wish you were in Burton upon Trent now 👍.
M. J.
Great service. Great food and beautiful traditional decor.
G. “. M.
Very busy for breakfast and order was wrong twice, gave up in the end and had what we were given. No told about self catering for tea, so had to go back downstairs and rejoin the queue. The only thing positive was the chickpeas & naans/puris. Hence the 3 stars just for food
Q. A. R.
Food prepared on Friday is good, overall flavor and aroma both are present in the food, good desert choice, what it says, taste of Pakistan
M. M.
Excellent service, price .
H. Q.
Love to go here for desi breakfast. Recently updated decor is wonderful. Also worth trying the chaat and falooda.
F. N.
Great Food so delicious everything was great I advise you to try Guys 👍👌
F. A.
Had the breakfast here, also ordered sheesh kebabs, breakfast was very nice and the kebabs too, pink tea was delicious and the service was good.
A. W.
5* for the food, It's in the restaurants name! It truly is taste of Pakistan. Only criticism is the overall cleanliness of tables etc could be improved.
N. K.
The most Authentic Pakistani Breakfast place in Birmingham. Very clean and friendly staff. Recommended!!
S. H.
Love the haleem and naans NYC quiet environment when you need it. Although the waiter forgets the chutney all the time but great overall
V. H.
Probably the most authentic, cheap Punjabi food place on LadyPool road.
One of the handful of places that are owned & run by a Punjabi. You can't get a better deal anywhere else; a plate of salan (curry) and two roti for £5.
It's not fancy, but it's quick and dependable, and the food tastes better than most other places I tried on LadyPool road.
S. M.
Delicious tasty oily .. greasy and unhealthy
H.
Decent breakfast for the price
The only issue stopping it from getting 5 * is the chanay they could be a lot better but the Desi tea and Halwa where spot on!
A. M.
Really amazing food, 😃
Everything I had was so delicious
Highly Recommended 👍🏻
The staff is so friendly and polite ✨
T. H.
Nice fresh food served daily ,I always buy my Pakistani milkshake (Falooda)from this place ,
Many flavours available,
Pink tea also served.
O. A.
Nice authentic Pakistani taste for those looking for a Punjabi touch... The quality has recently gone down a bit in few areas but still one of the best choices for halwa puri breakfast and Punjabi samosas...
M. S.
Flooda and shami kabab the best and weekend halwa pouri yummy
N. F.
Very tasty food on reasonable price. Loved the food
M. K.
Taste of pakistan were do i start it is the best place in birmingham for halwa puri and the desi tea is always spot on. Number 1
M.
Used to be quite goos but food quality is just getting worse every time.
Don’t order anything for home delivery or don’t collect your order without checking everything cause there’s always something missing.
Z. A.
Beautiful setting and pure pakistani food. Definitely worth visiting will go again.
J. K.
Great food reasonable prices
Keer, dahi Bally, and breakfast is outstanding.
There ice creams are one of must have items.
Staff is really friendly
P. B.
True taste, reasonably priced menu and best restaurant in town.
ا. س.
