Had the steak, which came out on a sizzling platter. The meat was nice and cooked to the requested temperature, but the heat radiating from the platter meant that I was not able to eat it for some time, by which the side of my steak on the plate had cooked further and the onions underneath were burnt. This was a shame, but the food was reasonably priced and the service was quick.

Very decent meal and good value for money. The Stag and Three Horseshoes is a traditional pub, but a good one. I very much enjoyed my haddock and chips with optional mushy peas. The haddock was fresh and hand battered - cooked perfectly. My mother in law enjoyed her scampi and my wife said her rump stean was cooked as she requested - medium. The chips could possibly have been cooked a little longer, but I am splitting hairs. For less than £35 three of us ate a very enjoyable main course and soft drink. The staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient. Our neal reached us very quickly. We were all very impressed. Well done andvthank you.

Had a mixed grill at the stag yesterday. The staff behind the bar were very polite and helpful. Quick ordering and the drinks were brought to the table. The food came after about 15 mins on a hot skillet. All of the meat was cooked exactly how i like it and very tender. The staff came over to make sure everything was fine and if we needed anything else. I would definitely recommend this place for unbeatable value and service

Standard chain pub grub with friendly staff in a tired environment. We visited twice this week to sample their new menu and can say that we experienced food highs and lows. For example, the move from a sizzling bed of onions to that of mixed seasonal veg is a welcomed improvement, but portion sizes for the 'ultimate plate' curry and sundries were disappointingly meagre. The fajitas were very tasty with wraps bigger than the plate, but lacked a spare plate to load them and sufficient chicken to fill them. I can only hope that the kitchen was so overburdened in this launch week that they had to cut back on portions and rush out the food to meet demand.

Visited the Stag and Three Horse shoes the weekend for a family gathering, couldn't have been happier. Everyone's food came out together and on time!! Staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be returning.

Please bear in mind this is one event and I wish not to reflect on the pub in general as I have been in here for years. Santa breakfast 2021. Despite booking in well in advance they had no idea of who we were when we got there. And just waved us to an unreserved table despite our reservation. The food was reasonable for the price however the event was just organised chaos. No one had any idea of what was going on including the staff, who were trying their best to be helpful. Santa himself and his elf were very good. Nicely set up. On the whole it was OK and fairly priced maybe staggered booking would have worked better. Storm in a tea cup spring to mind. I wouldn't attend again however please don't let that discourage you. Maybe next year's will be better. One other thing to note. Not a single person was wearing a face mask. Or nor did I see and hand sanitiser stations. Not that these are a legal requirement at the min. But hey common sense.

The seating arrangement meant that our 2 tables couldn't be put together as the seats between the 2 tables were separated. That was the only criticism of what was a lovely time.

I've often visited this pub in past for a meal. This time they catered for the gathering after my Dad's funeral. We hired the private room and everything was good. My only criticism is that they charge now for the room when the catering and drinks purchased should be sufficient especially during the day. We also held the gathering after my Mom's funeral here as the outside doors could be left open and in July 2020 that was a bonus. This year I've enjoyed some normal pub meals here with family. The food is cooked to order and the servings on the skillets are as they say sizzling when they arrive so for someone who likes their food hot that's brilliant. Last night ,a Saturday, it was exceedingly busy and the only table available was in the side room which also housed 2 large family parties including several youngsters. The whole place was buzzing and noisy so we decided to add to the noise with our general conversation!! The food was as good as ever so well done to all staff for keeping a smile on their faces on a very busy night. Good to see businesses doing well again 👏

We booked a table tonight for a meal here. We was greeted by a woman sat 3 tables away shouting "have you booked" I said yes. 3 times she had to ask me my name, she made no effort to get up and greet us properly. We both had masks on. She pointed to the restaurant area and shouted for us to sit anywhere!!!! Things still didn't get any better, the furniture is disgraceful, slits, dirt and seating covers all flaking!!!! On a positive note, the lady taking the drink/food orders was lovely and friendly, our food came out steaming hot ♨️ delivered by a very nice young lady. The food was very hot and nice. Another lovely lady name Caroline came over to us, asked us if our food was OK. She was very pleasant. Thank you to the chef, waiters and bar staff, you are a credit to this scruffy pub. Why on earth wasnt this pub tidied up during lockdown? As for Emma, who we was told later was the manager who greeted us, I think you need a management course in customer service management!!!

Great staff and service. The main course was great. The dessert was terrible a sundae with one scoop of vanilla ice cream about 3 chocolate buttons 2 flakes and the rest filled up with squirty cream for over £4 probably cost 20p for the ingredients.

Hadn't been here for years but went on impulse after a walk round Woodgate Valley . Warmly greeted by a lovely young lady who told us the options for ordering food . Good varied menu at very reasonable prices . Food came quickly and though we had all ordered different meals it was all piping hot and delicious . My grandkids are fussy eaters but they both cleared their plates and remarked how nice it was . The staff were attentive without being intrusive . Super end to a great day out . See you soon !

Went here for my friends birthday meal on a Friday afternoon. 2 adults 2 children ( 7 & 8 years old) Having not been here before ( Myself & my 7 yr old) The establishment overall was very welcoming, friendly staff, quick service at the bar for drinks. Was seated quickly to our pre reserved table. A group of us meet up here about 2 or 3 times a year and the food and service is generally very good. We had an issue once just after the pub had been refurbished (it looks great by the way) it was particularly busy and we waited we'll over an hr for our food. Staff were very apologetic and we have been since and been more than happy

Came out to a family meal at 7pm.. ordered food with a 50 minute wait, annoying but we ordered anyway. 45 minutes went by for a member of staff to come over and say an item on our order wasnt available.. our food was expected in 5 minutes! We are then given bad attitude off a waitress "well do you want to order anything else" she was not apologetic in the slightest. She then came to the table again as one our orders was cold!! "What do you want me to do order another one" she was very rude. All in all very unhappy with the meal tonight. Tracy the waitress that has been there for ages was very apologetic and was very professional she is a credit to the pub.

I play for a local darts team and have played against these guys on a number of occasions. MY EFFING GOD!!! the food quality in the stag is dynamite. If you want a good pub grub feed this place is fantastic. Beers bloody good too. Top notch gaff.

Popped in for a sunday lunch i had the half roast chicken which was fine. Problem was with the veg which looked as dry as a bone and certainly not fresh. French beans were all shrivilled up and vile. Mash potatoe tasted like instant !! Frozen roasts. Wont be going again and if i did wouldnt be eating. 5/01/19 - Went to pub again recently to use voucher kindly supplied by M&B following out visit and complaint in November. Ordered the big breakfast and a mixed grill. Food came quickly it was all piping hot and tasty. Much much better than our previous visit. Thought it was good value too. Extra stars for food would of been more but for bar service. Unhappy looking staff who served regulars in front of me even though I was clearly at the bar in front of them this happened twice with the same female staff member (ie they came through the front door I was waiting to be served at the bar!!). Nothing more annoying I’m afraid. Watch the bar!.

I have been here several times over the years for a few celebrations ,they always accommodate us whether it's a small party or larger.The staff are friendly and welcoming and they will let you dress up a table if you have a party and will even hide the cake for you .They have a great menu to suit any taste including vegetarian options . They also have a good variety of beets and alcohol and the prices are great too.They cater for the young and the old.Its a popular and always busy pub ,which shows you how popular it is .I would highly recomend it for any occasion .

Staff were wonderful today. I was there for the wake of Irene Parker. Function room had plenty of table and chairs. Also there was a flat screen TV on the wall which was used to share family photos via a digital photo frame with everyone there. In one corner of the function room a hot water boiler was provided to make tea or coffee with a plate of individual chocolate chip cookies.

However, the background music is ridiculously loud - you really have to shout to be heard at the bar and that's was before the live entertainment started!
