We have eaten here many times. Personally I feel that Viceroy do the best south Asian food in the whole of Birmingham. All the dishes are fresh, authentic and have not been simply prepared from the same base! The staffs courtesy and commitment is second to none. The staff and manager are incredibly polite and friendly. This place is a must visit!!

Up there with the best traditional British Indian Restaurants in Birmingham. Viceroy Tandoori is a modern, sophisticated setting. The food is sublime, prepared with care and bursting with flavour. Service is humble and warm; if you are in the Jewellery Quarter on a Sunday please check this venue out. They have an excellent value offer, £16.95 or £18.95 for either a meat or fish dish with rice, nan and a cup of coffee/tea.

Wow, this place I mean. Viceroy doesn't deserve 5 stars though. 5 isn't simply enough. This has been hands down the very best Indian/Asian food I ever had in my live and such a memorable culinary experience. Had a business meeting there, got in 15 min early as we didn't know what time they opened, the head chef let us in himself and cooked for us. While we were the first and only customers we got imoecabble service from their staff, Chef himself recommended their signature appetizers which was a combo of 3 meats and veggies. The taste was mind blowing and the meal one I will remember for a very long time until I come back and let them surprise me with their culinary art again. Top quality, medium/high prices and definitely the best restaurant in the entire Birmingham area. Hope Michelin swings by to add that one star I could add in here.

I'm giving this place a 4 because a 3 is harsh, here's the thing, the food is good but the spices are a bit delicate possibly bordering bland, but I can see why a lot of people will really enjoy it. The service is excellent no doubt about it and it's a nice ambience. I would definitely try it as it's going to come down to personal taste.

13 of us are here for a birthday meal, great experience from start to finish. We had the 3 course tasting menu which was great value, I have no criticisms about the food at all, everything was perfectly cooked with loads of flavour, the king prawn starter and lamb curry main were especially good (the food is a good few steps above your standard Indian restaurant). The staff are very friendly, polite, and attentive, we never needed for more drinks etc. All round a great dining experience.

Ordered keema bhuna and saag chicken and both were superb. It’s a small cosy restaurant and highly recommend it if you aren’t too far away from the restaurant. We were from Solihull so took a while - 22 miles ! I will give it another try but sadly it won’t be my regular due to the distance . Wish it was closer to us. Definitely give it a go as the food is by far one of the best in brum.

I came here this evening as a surprise visit with my fiancè for my birthday today, having driven up from our home in London. I've been to some of the best curry restaurants in Brick Lane and our local eateries so had high expectations. Wow... my expectations were smashed and exceeded. The decor, the friendly and professional staff (who also catered for my chilli allergy- difficult for a curry restaurant but they succeeded), the food... mind blowingly amazing. This was the best curry I have ever experienced in my entire life and my only disappointment is that it isn't local to me so I can't go all the time. I highly recommend Viceroy. It is the jewel of the Jewellery Quarter and the Beauty of Birmingham.

A really amazing restaurant! I went their after my graduation for an evening meal. The restaurant is not too big, but there is plenty of room round the table. And due to its smaller size, it's never too loud. The style of the restaurant is very modern and clean. The window into the kitchen was a nice addition too, so we could see our food being made. There is parking on the street nearby for anyone wondering. The food was exceptional and a little more expensive than standard Indian restaurants, but it is worth every penny more. The portions were large, so we were never left hungry. The service was superb, and they gave great advice on all the meals, and ensured our meals were never too spicy for us. I would definitely go there again and strongly recommend to any friend.

The food was lovely, however it was the service that stood out as it was exceptional. We went with our two young children for dinner and the staff were most accommodating. The owner recommended we have a smaller portion for the kids meal and in the end decided not to charge us for it :) the wine list is also pretty good. Beautifully spiced food, friendly staff. I had a jumbo prawn starter which was superb. It had plenty of flavour and the spices were subtle and delicate. My partner's chicken was equally delicious. My fish main was again amazing and spiced to the level I had asked for. My partner's lamb was excellent. We had a bottle of Gewürztraminer which complemented the meal perfectly. The staff are very polite and friendly. Well worth a visit if you are nearby.

So glad I found this place! Took a group of 17 and we were well looted after. Many of the group were from outside of the UK and had never tried Birmingham Indian food before. We were not disappointed. Many of us had the Balti which was very well cooked and perfectly spiced. Full of flavour and with plenty of rice and naan to share just the right amount of food. Finished with a nice dessert and really nice coffee. Don't trust the website for booking availability - told me there was no availability for the date and time I wanted, but when I phoned them up I had no problem booking the table. Only negative was the manger attempting to convince is to choose their party menu because the chef wouldn't be able to cook 17 different dishes. We felt that would have been to much food and I'm glad we went with our choices from the main menu. I will definitely return!!

I'm usually critical of most Indian / Bangladeshi restaurants, but this one stood out as one of the better ones I've been to. Service was polite and prompt, but not rushed. The dishes had their own flavours, and we're very tasty, the naan bread tasted like it had been freshly baked, all in all, a very pleasant dining experience. Recommended.

I don't like spicy food so I have been recommended seafood dish which tasted delicious and the staff been very accommodating. Had dinner here whilst visiting Birmingham. Three of us wanted a curry night, and after looking at trip advisor reviews decided on Viceroy. At first look the menu seems a bit sparse, however when diving into the descriptions what you actually have a very refined menu. In fact, I found it harder to choose than normal! I ended up taking a lamb dish and it was divine to say the least. The lamb pieces fell apart and melted in your mouth, whilst the accompanying sauce gave it just enough spice to give a kick and without ruining the natural flavours. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Returned for the first time after lockdown and the already lovely restaurant has been redecorated . Thought they might be cutting corners with food ! Not at all the food was amazing !! I would say it is at the higher end price wise for Birmingham curries but you get what you pay for . They use really fresh ingredients well sourced ingredients !! I took relatives from Ireland they said it was the best Indian /Bangladeshi /Pakistani food they had ever had !!! I agree with them !! Worth the journey and the little extra expense . The BEST curry in BRUM !!!! The best i have had ,and i have been all over ! Great garlic naans , great king Prawn dishes , lovely chicken curries , lamb dishes , a specials board , some unusual things you don't see in other restaurants. Every time i try something a bit different , really nice staff and draught beer . I always come out of there happy and very full .It's busy so best to book in advance to avoid disappointment .Be back soon .

A nice restaurant with some interesting Bangladeshi dishes alongside traditional "curry-house" favourites. The reason that I have marked them down is that I found a piece of chicken in my paneer dish. I am a "flexitarian" so I do eat meat on occasion but had I been vegetarian I'd have been really upset... I suggest the restaurant ensure that veggie (and vegan) food remains so. Polite service, nice wine and surprisingly busy for early evening (5/6pm) on a Sunday which must be good.

First visit to this wonderful outpost of culinary delights. I'd been anticipating an excellent experience and was not disappointed. A genuine and warm welcome to an immaculately presented restaurant with attentive and charming staff set the scene. I chose the Ananas Hash, which the manager was happy to describe to me, and the duck breasts served in an aromatic spicy sauce with coconut milk and pieces of pineapple were tender and absolutely delicious. "Dish swapping" with others at table affirmed that all our selections were first rate and everyone dined very well. Timely service that still managed to achieve an unhurried feel all added to the pleasure of the occasion. We look forward to the next opportunity to dine at The Viceroy.

Me and my fellow diner walked into this establishment, it was very peaceful, I think it was down to the mere fact that it was a small establishment with a seating capacity estimated at 36/38 max and on the evening we went in on a Tuesday evening (8th Aug) the restaurant was near enough half full so you can imagine it being very quiet and peaceful with most of the diners being in the matured age range of 35+. We were greeted and seated and given the menus. The environment: Atmosphere was ambient and relaxed, white walls all over with the odd framed painting here and there, the surface plaster between ceiling and wall did have a long crack on the right hand side of the premises can be seen when we were sitting down at our dining table which was a bit of a let down for a fine dining establishment. Glasses and cutlery etc were all clean and to an acceptable standard. Wooden table surfaces tend to be sticky in some restaurants, however our table was not so that was good. Part of the kitchen can be seen by the diners and I would describe their kitchen as semi open view as only part of it is visible through a large glass plan which form part of the partition between dining are and their kitchen. During a long glance the kitchen seemed clean and tidy, so no confidence in hygiene was lost there at any point. As it was around 8pm in the evening we weren't mega hungry so we skipped the poppadoms and starters and ordered mains and our sides instead: Nawabi Bhuna Lamb,Garlic Chilli Lamb,Side of Tarka Daal,Garlic Coriander Naan,Tandoori Roti,,Egg Fried Rice We didn't have to wait long, food arrived roughly between 15 to 20 minutes after we ordered and I must say the presentation of the items reminded me of dining at relatives or friends houses by invite where all curries are normally presented in a ceramic bowl (See attached pictures). Normally in Indian / Bangladeshi restaurant the curries get served in a scratched up stainless steel bowl / balti so this was different for me. The food tasted as good as it 'looked and was presented', I felt like I was having traditional Sylheti cuisine like I would do at home or at a relatives house. Satisfied my palate, freshly made tasty curries normally do! The meat was cooked well and the sauces were spiced adequately as expected and it wasn't too thick and pasty. Price analysis - The menu items are expensive I must say Does taste live up to the prices on the menu?, I would with utmost respect to Mr Mujib say the taste alone would not. Portions: The portion in the bowls were not proportional to the price paid unfortunately, in a regular Indian restaurant on a good day (where the taste and quality standard matches this instance, believe me it can based on freshness of ingredients and base gravy sauce and skillset of chef) you probably could get two portions of a chicken or meat curry for 15 quid. Same goes for the Naans IMHO I felt they were small. The rice and tarka daal portions were ok. The staff were very hospitable and we were able to easily build a rapport with the owner Mr Mujib at first meet and he kindly gave us two coffees on the house after the meal so thank you for that. In the end the bill for us both ended up being in excess of £50 Would I come here again? I would definitely consider my budget before I did but that would be the only factor preventing me if I did not decide to visit again. If you want a taster take up their Sunday offer and pay £13 quid, for poppadoms with chutneys, a main, naan, rice and tea or coffee, that would definitely be worth it if viceroy do not amend the portions for this promotion. I would like to go again though and try some of their starters and other main courses. Viceroy does not have its own dedicated parking but there is parking on nearby side roads so no issues there. Also please check your meat requirements as per previous reviews as it seems the owner will source meats to fulfill any your requirements.
