Reviews of Burnt Orange
M. S.
I recommend it 10 times. Everything was delicious ! We went there for my birthday dinner, we took the Experience menu and 2 dishes off menu for 3 persons (+1 drink each and dessert), it was perfect. Every single bite was exquisite. Love the concept of sharing and tasting. Menu is changing every season. Please try the miso aubergine, it was my fave even if everything was so good. 🥰🤩
G. S.
Has to be 5 stars - the food was great, a lot of variety and Middle Eastern inspired flavours. Good fish and veg options too. The burnt orange martini was a clever twist on your normal gin martini. Would definitely recommend the monkfish and would definitely visit again!

Incredibly welcoming and friendly staff with a nice intimate and warm atmosphere. Food top-notch, not a dish we wouldn't eat again! Price very good for quality of food. One small gripe is that there was no non-alcoholic beer for the driver, and the Panoma mocktail I had just tasted like £8 lemonade, but that's not enough to dock a star from what was a fantastic experience.

Warm welcome given, shown to our table, the host offered to take our jackets. Straight away water was brought to the table (and continually topped up) the EL Toro cocktail was requested to be slightly more acid and citrus than usual. And it definitely was amazing.
Starters; The flat bread was nice, spiced beef AMAZING and the lamb well - WOW. This was worth having more of.
Mains; blackened salmon and miso aubergine Both were breathtaking and the sour cream seemed to be made fresh at the restaurant.
Another cocktail this time completely off the menu, but an original margarita and again stunning.
Dessert well only one thing could be eaten the chocolate nemesis. The lemon sorbet was amazing the ginger honeycomb was nice crunchy and refreshing too and the cake was good.
Service was incredible and the guy with the X tattoo on the side of his head was very helpful during the service.
We will be recommending this for sure.
And we will be back when we return
Many thanks
And new customers ENJOY

Hidden gem in a quiet street off Brighton beach. Excellent small plates for sharing, especially the wood-burning ones. Good price for the portion and quality. Nice service as well. Definite worth the Michelin recommendation.

Wow wow wow!!! Insane! The food here is just simply amazing. The flavours are to die for.
The staff AMAZING! Great service and a warm welcome with a superb vibe
Well done everyone working here you should be proud

The welcome was fantastic , great service with attention to detail. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is good. Highly recommended and will come again , if I had one criticism it would be the portion size which is on the small side

Me and my partner had a lovely time on Wednesday night at Burnt Orange, it was vibrant for a week day. The service was great and super attentive; asking for our jackets and bringing water right away. It was my partner’s birthday and they made the dinner extra special. Cocktails were delicious, food was great, tasty and perfect portions. We ordered 7 dishes for the two of us and it was more than enough, our favorites: the burrata, flat bread, flamed sea bream and the glazed cauliflower.

My expectations for this place were rather high, having said that it’s marketed as a more upmarket venue and seems extremely popular.
The service was great, just as one would expect from an upmarket restaurant. Servers would monitor our table, top up as needed and check everything is ok.
The food however was rather mediocre, certainly not what I expected. I ordered: burrata and squash, lamb shoulder cigars, calamari, pork belly skewers, sea bream, roasted new potatoes and a brownie/mud cake. In general the food was fairly portioned and well presented, but the flavours and seasoning were below average.
Though the website described the food as “social food: simple, flavour-packed dishes designed for grazing”, to my taste flavours were often banal or lacking altogether and a few of the dishes were badly seasoned, the pork belly had very little salt and the sea bream was far too salty for example.
The best I tried was undoubtedly the fried calamari; which was crispy and came with a tasty aioli. However again this dish was not special and overpriced compared to other similar dishes at other restaurants.
The food seemed to be comprising being simple and flavour packed, but wanting to serve more inventive combinations. The pork belly, for example, was in a spiced coffee rub with a pickled fennel side salad. I could see how fennel and coffee might be paired but not sure about using pickled fennel. The actual dish was more like bbq skewers with a bbq sauce and practically no hint of coffee and the pickled fennel salad was more like a regular fennel salad with no seasoning other than a dash of vinegar and dill. It was an improvement in flavour and texture over the pork alone but still didn’t really go with the bbq flavour.

Really lives up to the buzz around it. My only neutral comment was that the tasting menu wasn’t available to vegetarians as it wasn’t editable. That said, we just ordered all the vegetarian options and it came to more or less the same price. My standout dish was the aubergine, really silky smooth and charred without that horrible burnt flavour I always seem to create. The staff were really friendly without being overbearing and I can’t wait to return!

We've visited twice and both times have been great. The food and staff are amazing.
We had snacks ( flatbreads are delicious) , starters, main course with side dishes , dessert, cocktails and wine, tea/coffee and dessert wine. Including the service charge it was just under £50 a head. For us that's a lot but it felt good value for money for my son's 21st birthday.
M. W.
Lovely ambience and wonderful service. Definitely some dishes better than others (but of course down to personal taste!) I would highly recommend the miso aubergine and the garlic flatbread
s. e.
Very tasty food and cocktails - great service and lovely surroundings. Only had a light lunch as we're out for dinner tonight but we were sat at the bar and could see the kitchen: everything looks tasty, will be back!

Superb spot, fab atmosphere, fully deserving of the outstanding reviews which it has received.
Very helpful, friendly and attentive staff. Great food and great cocktails 🍹
R. C.
One of the best restaurant experiences. Cocktails were flawless (Sweet & Smokey; Espresso Date) service was excellent and the food was exquisite. Everything ordered was no disappointment in taste or size. Personal highlights for me were the Padron Peppers, the Wood-fired Flat Bread, the Spiced Calamari Fritti with Lemon Aioli and the Smoked Miso Aubergine. Make sure you save some room for dessert. Choc mousse was very good but the simple pistachio ice cream was a great show finisher. Just be prepared for the bill at the end if you want to sample all the delicious things.

We had a delightful meal. The food was delicious and there was a great selection.
One of our party was GF and our server; Gosia J was brilliant.
She advised us when we’d ordered a dessert which wasn’t gluten free and double checked with the chefs.
She was very knowledgeable about the dishes, extolling the virtues of specific ones, perfectly attentive without being pushy or intrusive and patient with us whilst we dithered over our food choices!
Please pass our thanks and compliments on to her.

Amazing evening at the Burnt Orange. Great food, especially if you are an aspiring vegetarian or you simply want to have more environmentally-friendly dishes.
Also, if you are just in town and in the mood for some cocktails, the Burnt Orange is your best choice.
D. W.
Totally faultless. Wonderful, passionate, knowledgeable staff, incredible food great cocktails. Can’t wait to go back!
a. c.
Just amazing. We went for celebrate our anaversery and from the start to the end was incridible. The staff is just so lovely and it was on of the best meal of my life thank you.
You need to put the price but you will not regret it.
S. H.
Completely full on a windy Wednesday, so a lovely vibrant atmosphere. We loved the sharing menu, it was a treat not to have worry about choosing from the menu and enjoy catching up with friends in such a beautiful restaurant. We thought the price was good value, £35 for a healthy selection of starters and mains. The food was fantastic, brilliant cocktails and the staff warm and attentive. Can't wait to come back. Thank you.
H. O.
We booked the private dining room and everything was as expected. I was able to play footage on the TV screen and play music through the speaker system. The food was delicious, with great portion sizes for sharing between 9 and plenty of veg and gluten-free options. Our waitress, Ruby, was excellent. Very attentive and even put up with us singing Kaiser Chiefs towards the end of the night! Great sport. Will be recommending to everyone
L.
We rented out the private dining room for my partners mums 60th birthday. It was brilliant, Ben was always on hand making sure we were okay, taking drink orders and filling up our water. The room had Bluetooth built in so we could personalise the experience with a playlist, we managed to put birthday banners and balloons up. The food was faultless and much more filling than I thought it would be when it was set out. All in all the perfect dining experience and great for a special meal occasion! 😁🥳
S. C.
Enjoyable meal. We were effusive with praise for the veg dishes in particular: the aubergine and potatoes cooked in sheep’s cheese were both moreish highlights. Unfortunately our tastebuds didn’t feel the same way about the meat dishes: the barbecued chicken thigh was juicy but bland.
F. M.
This was one of the best meals I’ve had in recent years! The food was full of flavour but not overwhelming, perfectly cooked and so full and varied in choice. The service was exceptionally friendly - shout out to Lucy L whom I think is the lady with short brown hair who was so warm - and the team went above and beyond to move out booking earlier. We were particularly touched when one of your team - gentleman with a short beard - ran out on our departure to congratulate us on our pregnancy. Thanks so much for a special and memorable meal! Will be back and recommending to all.
H. M.
Absolutely excellent, the service was impeccable!! Food was truly delicious, great drinks, the atmosphere in the restaurant was buzzing. They also wished me and my partner happy anniversary (nice little personal touch).
Would recommend and would 100% go again. The staff there are top tier! 👌
V. P.
We tried the October menu and it was more then enough food for two people to finish.
The food at this place was truly amazing - the wood-fired flat bread and hummus in the starter I full of flavour, and the mains were all unique. The Smoked Miso Aubergine was a favourite well worth trying if heading over!
J. M.
Came for my boyfriends birthday celebrations and had the most amazing time! Sitting at the counter just bought more to our experience watching the chefs and bartenders effortlessly presenting wonderful food and drinks. We had the Burnt Orange Experience and were delighted with everything on the menu. Overall this was a fantastic evening, the staff, the food and the atmosphere 10/10.
G. B.
The lady at reception was very welcoming despite us being 10 mins late due to traffic. The chefs and waiters were incredibly fast bringing us our food and taking away glasses and used plates and cutlery. The service was exceptional and very friendly. The food was outrageously good. We had the taster set menu, and the portion sizes were surprisingly large; we were both full after! What an amazing food journey; so many different delicious sauces! Easily one of the best restaurant experiences we've ever had. Well worth the money. Highly recommended!
K. H.
Had an excellent lunchtime...my son had bought us the 'Experience ' for our birthdays....what a different and fantastic way of dining...realised this morning that I didn't have to choose anything...it was all brought to the table. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff...house wine a steal at £22 a bottle...food was scrummy...calamari was the highlight.Would recommend to all
J. M.
Amazing food, amazing venue, amazing staff. A great new addition to Brighton’s restaurant scene. Every dish we had was great but particular highlights were the chicken, the spinach tart, the calamari and make sure you try the bread, it’s swimming in butter.
E. G.
Excellent vibe, food, service. Only thing that lets this place down slightly is the layout and restricted size… and tables by front are a little cold.. is a very old building
A. T. L.
From the welcome to the bill, this experience was impeccable.. the service is first class and the food is excellent. There are about 4 good small plate restaurants in Brighton & Hove and this place is a cut above. The devil is in the detail, and they have it covered! We loved it so much as we left, we booked to go back. We went for lunch this time, but next time we are coming back for dinner, I am pretty sure it will be excellent.
S. L.
It was unequivocally the best food I had this year, but also big applause for the 2 waitresses who attended me like a queen. The pulpo was absurd, order it with the flat bread and don't forget to try the cocktails. The burnt Orange made my first night in Brighton memorable. Thanks a lot.
K. M.
This was our wedding day lunch. It was intimate with just 4 of us. The staff could not have been more attentive! We were treated so well and generously by them. The food was outstanding! We tried things we'd never had before and loved all of it. Will most definitely be returning and highly recommend :)
m. b.
Wow! What an incredible place the team at burnt orange have created here, ticks every single box you need; amazing food, attentive helpful and lovely staff, great drinks and wine list, really nice decor and atmosphere. I had been excited to eat at burnt orange from the moment It starting popping up on my radar as the new place in town and it exceeded all of my expectations and has well deservedly earned its spot as one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. We were served by Marco and Nate who gave us 5* service. I am torn between wanting to shout from the roof tops - telling everyone to immediately get down to burnt orange, and keeping it a secret for myself! I will refrain from the latter but certainly I will see you again! Thanks team, you made our Friday night one of the best in a very long time. X
B. S.
Took our friends from Australia last night table booked for 8.45. Got seated outside . Got the mist amazing service from John our waiter such a professional chap. Had the new tasting menu it was outstanding. The flavours and taste was superb. Our second visit and we will definitely be going back 5 Stars ⭐️
C. R.
Amazing! Delcious food, with great fresh ingredients. A lovely setting, especially the court yard. Friendly and accommodating staff and lovely cocktails. The potatoes are the star of the show. Will definitely be back!
c. r.
We had a lunch, absolutely love it. My wife was amazed by service, food quality and whole experience. Good experience over all. Food above Brighton standards, aubergine was a star but courgette dish completely pointless. Good wine also.
C. M.
Absolutely amazing food. Quality, fantasy and taste are all very high level, and for this food the tasting menu is a great choice (and quite frankly a bargain). Very attentive and friendly service, great cocktails. Definitely we'll be back
K. M.
Ambiance was lovely, terrace will be gorgeous even it's warmer with all the plants and twinkly lights. Service was relaxed but professional, pitched just right. Everything we tried was amazing. Aubergine and the potatoes were our favourites. Cocktails and wine were all spot on too. My only criticism would be that the vegetarian main options were all vegetables. Feel like compared to the large pieces of meat and fish going out it was a bit less good value and apart from cheese a bit proteinless. Some egg or tofu or bean based dishes wouldn't go amiss. Would definitely visit again. And order two aubergine just for myself.
A. G.
Fabulous! A masterclass in how a neighborhood restaurant should be. From font of house to food and ambience, Burnt Orange excels.
Our second visit in two weeks to see if it was as good as the first time. It was! Experiment complete - but to be repeated as often as possible!A first-rate neighborhood restaurant boasting a great location, fabulous staff, inventive and delicious menu. Well done to all concerned.
Y. A.
Great restaurant and bar. Everything about this place was brilliant. The food was absolutely delicious, the drinks were excellent and the service/staff were great. Highly recommend visiting. The Galician Octopus was superb, I could have eaten 3 of it!
C. M.
10 out of 10! We dined here last night and everything was exceptional. We had the counter seat infont of the chef and could see all the magic happening in the kitchen! Great cocktails, great food, great service ans great atmosphere! Highly recommend! Thank you!
M. W.
Excellent meal. Flawless service. Generous portions for 2. Food is moorish, fresh and inventive. Well though out menu. Will be back!
J. P.
The service here has been amazing! We had Elsa and Jasmine waiting on us all night. Best cocktails I've had for a while and topping up our free water. The cocktails taste amazing and the vibe is so chilled. Would highly recommend the stone beach sour cocktail
A.
I had such a lovely dinner at Burnt Orange! The food is delicious and the cocktails are exquisite. Definitely recommend for a celebration or a girls night out if you want to try something different. The staff are lovely and were amazing at recommending certain foods/drinks!
S. S.
A star for excellent service, a star for value for money and a star for the good food. However, on our visit on Friday night for our wedding anniversary felt like we were dining in a busy pub/bar, it was so noisy we had to raise our voices to hear each other. We couldn't really relax and enjoy the experience as hoped-for which was disappointing. Our waiter agreed that it was noisy and that he had received similar feedback.
As stated the service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and even apologised for the delay in the food even though we didn't think it was taking long. We received a complimentary anniversary dish which was a nice touch. Both he and the maitre d' wished us a happy anniversary as we left.
The food is good, no complaints, but not as memorable as dishes we've had before, for example from the Coal Shed.
Are we likely to go again, probably not. Would I recommend this to friends, not if you want a quite romantic meal. Yes if there's a group of you and you want a 'buzzing' atmosphere as a fellow reviewer put it.
L. M.
We went out for Saturday night dinner, there were 4 of us and we had 'the experience' and what an experience it was the food was delicious, a real taste explosion! The staff were attentive and the music really complimented the overall ambience. Loved it
M. M.
This was our third visit and if anything seems to get better every time! Great cocktails, outstanding food, attentive staff and good atmosphere. Will return and would recommend without hesitation. Well done all
A. D.
We spent several days in Brighton and had loads of meals booked for lunch and dinner at different restaurants all around the city. Nowhere was as good as Burnt Orange. Quite simply the best restaurant we went to in Brighton. Service that genuinely impresses you and makes you realise what good service actually is. Both food and cocktails were flawless. I wanted to just keep ordering more food it was so delicious! Next time we are back in Brighton this will be the first place we book. Hands down the best restaurant I've been to in many years.
K. B.
Absolutely lovely brunch, my boyfriend was unsure by the menu, as he was thinking brunch eggs Benedict or alike, I ordered and said let’s just try something different! My boyfriend and my 5 year really enjoyed! So delicious
s. m.
Cute place and nice food though I would not rush back. Opted for the taster menu which by all accounts was over seasoned somewhat but that aside staff were good and a tidy atmosphere #burntotange #brighton #thehappycouple #theextreamlyhappycouple
A.
Scrumptious small plates in a wonderful setting. The open kitchen and bar make it a unique experience whilst dining there. The staff were super enthusiastic and friendly. The food served here does all the talking - you won't be disappointed.
Constructive feedback: slightly more generous portion sizes for most of the starters and letting customers know about the time of last orders / kitchen closing (we left feeling a bit hungry as we missed the last orders 😭).
Great job! And I look forward to returning one day.
A. Z.
Excellent service, very tasty food and beautiful setting, highly recommend
J. S.
Stunning food, great quality. You can taste the freshness. Would definitely go back again.
L.
Had a Birthday Lunch here today. The cocktails were amazing and the food was excellent. Staff really lovely too. Our first visit - it won't be out last. Thank you.x
L. B.
Amazing! Food was great, vibe was great, everything was great! Looking forward to another visit. Thank you. Staff were also great!
C. G.
Wonderful meal. As we couldn't decide what to have from the menu we opted for the tasting experience menu which offered a great variety from the main menu and was very reasonably priced at £35 per head. We loved everything and will be back!
L. N.
Perfection. Cannot fault any part of our experience. Food was mindblowing, staff were knowledgeable and attentive.
r. f.
Came here for my fiancès birthday. What a treat. The food was something else. All beautifully cooked and flavoured. The cocktails are also top notch. Highly recommended if you've got a few Bob burning a whole in your pocket.
C. E.
We had the Burnt Orange experience. Beautifully balanced offering, cooked to perfection, and for someone with a real aversion to sharing, plenty to go round.
Staff top notch and a vibrant setting.
What more could one ask for!
b. r.
This place is amazing! Everything was perfect from food to drinks to the service. Everyone was so lovely and accommodating in there. The reccomendations from the staff were brilliant, the sea bream was by far the fave of the day!
N. H.
Finally managed to take the time to discover Burnt Orange and the eclectic menu. There's a good choice of tables inside and out, a relaxed environment and the team did a great job of looking after us. Thank you!
Z. A.
Been wanting to visit for a while, finally got around to booking and it didn’t disappoint! The food was incredible, amazing flavour combinations! Great service too and a lovely ambience, definitely recommend!
J. H.
We had a wonderful evening at the Burnt Orange. The resturant had quirky decor and interesting music, however it was a bit too loud at times.
The food was sublime, and some of the best we have tasted- especially the prawns and the flatbread.
For dessert we had the apple, blackberry & plum pastilla with custard, which was tasty, but a rather large portion, which we were pre warned about. However, the portion size was a bit off-putting.
During the booking process we were asked if were celebrating any special occasions, so we informed them of a birthday, which they confirmed again on arrival at the resturant, although during our dining experience nothing came of it which was a bit disappointing, so I'm not sure why they asked the question.
There was a wide variety of choice & a wonderful mix of flavours available. The food was prepared quickly, but to a very high standard.
Highly recommended- we will definitely be returning!
J. R.
I came here for lunch on my own, and it was absolutely delicious. I sat at the bar, with a view of the kitchen, and was very well looked after by the attentive (but not invasive) front of house team. Will definitely return.
R. Z.
A real gem in Brighton with excellent friendly and highly motivated staff. Inventive and tasty food in a pleasant middle-east inspired atmosphere. Will be coming back!
S. C. H.
This is a great place with a great atmosphere and truly incredible food and drinks. Had the best lunch I’ve had in years here. Will definitely go again.
M. O.
From Wales gods country. Exceptional staff, Lucky chap to have found them, Shalini probably spelt wrong what a win for the business as was everyone on a par with Michelin restaurants I have been too. Book in advance for evening, just good good good
A. L.
Absolutely divine - polished and perfected. Everything was exquisite and I would certainly go back. Casual fine dining - superb!
P. M.
No wonder it's counted as one of the best restaurants in Brighton. Always surprising always exciting and always great food. Lovely staff as well!
S. T.
The service & drinks at Burnt orange were great, cocktails were amazing, really high end feel about it & the service was incredibly attentive without being pushy or over the top, just right.
Look forward to visiting again very soon
S. P.
Wow what an amazing restaurant. Staff are so attentive and so happy in their work. Food was outstanding. One of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in. Thank you guys see you soon.
T. D. P.
Best restaurant in Brighton, hands down. Don't waste your time at the Ivy or anywhere else, this is the place for fine dining in Brighton.
G. M.
Wonderful restaurant. Probably the best in town with a fantastic, friendly front of house staff.
K. P.
I had a late dinner with my friend, it was delicious as always, nice atmosphere, the staff are very attentive too.
A. L.
The best food we’ve had in a long time! Fantastic flavours. A special recommendation for the burnt orange martini…
M. G.
Went here for weekday dinner - we booked our table almost a month in advance so we were really looking forward to this. We were late and called Burnt Orange to let them know and they said it won't be a problem. When we turned up, they sat us right next to the door and at the bar where people were constantly walking past us and it was pretty cold. We specifically booked a table and asked to be moved elsewhere but the hostess told us she can't move us as everything is booked (although there were quite a few empty tables) and the only thing she offered is to sit outside. She then went onto mention that she had to give our table because we were late (although we called them). We were clearly unhappy and considered leaving at this point. One of the bar staff noticed how unhappy we were and came & offered to move us to a table which was strange as so far we were told everything is booked. After all this, we were hoping that at least the food will be exquisite but we thought that it was really ok and nothing special. We had the lamb skewers (which were very small for the price you pay), courgette as a side, flatbreads and one of the dips. The best thing we had was probably the flatbread which speaks for itself. The bill came to £90 for a dinner for 2 people and 2 cocktails. I think there are a lot better places in Brighton with better service and food so I would save my money and go elsewhere. The decor was nice!
D. L.
Highly recommended! Dishes were well-proportioned and reasonably-priced, quality was excellent. The bread with butter from the snack menu was insane. Really nice vibes and lovely service. Looking forward to going back!
K. L.
We had lunch here and it was simply perfect. The food was really good. The service was exceptional. The ambience was extremely pleasant. The background noise was very low and we could hear each other speak which is an added bonus for a Brighton restaurant. I would certainly recommend!
T. D.
I got the miso aubergine and it was sublime! So soft and full of flavour, with the potatoes on the side too made for the best meal I’ve eaten in a long time. Also the staff are all lovely and provided great service.
R. S.
Mine blowing quality and creativity of the good. We had the vegetarian options and they were all exceptional. The waitress was lovely, cocktails brilliant. Flawless!
J. M.
Outstanding food, service, cocktails. On an extensive tasting menu, the calamari was a little over for my taste, but that's literally finding things to pick at. Exceptional in every way, and a strong recommend.
S. G.
Just brilliant - book as soon as you can! 10/10 across the board.
Food: amazing flavours and nice portions. The cauliflower and aubergine were the winners of the day.
Service: attentive and considerate.
Drinks: Considered and delicate. I had the Burnt Orange Martini and it was stunning.
g.
I had high hopes for this place. I had an enjoyable meal and a good time, but I think the food was lacking.
We had the burnt orange experience which is £35 a head, not including a dessert. The starters were okay, bread and hummus, lamb 'thingies' which were pretty standard to say the least. The calamari was very nice though.
The 'mains' came out with some sides which were enjoyable but lacking the real wow factor. The star of the show was the aubergine dish which was amazing but I did expect better all round. For £35 a head I don't think it's worth the money.
The inside is lovely and the staff were attentive and friendly. We were sat by the kitchen/bar area which is not advised as it's very loud by the kitchen and lots of staff constantly moving around you to get past.
Overall an enjoyable experience, but unlikely that we'll be back
R. P.
My boyfriend and I visited here for his birthday and enjoyed every element of our booking, from the food to the atmosphere and the service. Special mention to the cocktail menu which is impeccable, struggled not to order every single one just to try them all. The staff are incredible and made sure everything was perfect. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough.
P. M.
Fantastic food and atmosphere. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. Lovely birthday surprise desert too! 11/10!
A. B.
Had an amazing meal! The food was just beautiful. We had a few cocktails which were excellent. The service was brilliant. Really knowledgeable and friendly staff. Excellent evening
A. F.
The sauces and dressings add a special twist to the dishes, making everything from lamb shoulders to potatoes sing in your mouth. The flat bread is exquisite, but it's warm welcome and diligent staff that makes this a special dining experience. Our group was taken care of impeccably, helping to make it a very enjoyable birthday lunch.
l. h.
Exactly as advertised. Well worth the effort and strong "special occasion" feel.
Would reccomend to anyone looking for a treat out and staff match the excellent food
R. S.
Fabulous cocktails and delicious food. What more do you want. Oh yes, really nice and friendly day staff too .
G.
Just wow ! The food, cocktails and atmosphere all amazing. The bread is the most amazing part. Just surprised to find out such a gem 💎 absolutely will go again.

Amazing food, unhappy staff,
it was such a nice environment with delicious food but please can someone take out the gum from staff.
What’s the benefits of chewing gum but showing the staff improper and unprofessional.
P. S.
Lovely small plates of food, 3 to 5 recommended per person, lots of choise, the pork and aubergine superb, all wonderfull though. Staff were informative an friendly. I'd been given a bad report, but wanted to see for myself , and we loved it.
E. M. L.
I had massive expectations as it is such a popular place and many people recommenced it. Food is lovely but I wasn't that blowing away by itcompare to other restaurants in Brighton with cheaper prices.

The Perfect Paradox - So good you won't want to give up your table, but also so good you want others to enjoy the experience too.
We went on a lovely September's night and were met by friendly front of house staff and a lovely buzzy atmosphere. It's a sharing menu kind of place, so you'll be ordering 3-5 dishes each. There's a spectrum from land, air and sea to choose from. Between us we loved every dish, even if one might covet one's own choice over anothers.
The drinks and desert were scrumptious too and we had a hard time leaving when our meal and sitting came to an end. Luckily the management have thought of this and we were able to carry on the night at a side table, though there's a bar area too.
The Burnt Orange is that special mix of awesome food, warm and professional staff who are part of the experience, and an ambience that had us thinking we were dining with regulars when it's barely been open four months. A treat indeed and alone worth the trip to the seaside town.

All the staff that dealt with us where very very good. They all looked happy in their work, nothing phased them and they where totally on it. I have intolerances to certain food types, not just one, a phew……. But this was not in the slightest an issue, in fact I have never been treated so well in a restaurant in relation to my food intolerances….. it felt like I was a normal customer like everyone else. To top it all, the food was delicious. We will be coming back again for sure.Thank you for the experience
S. D.
This has a beautiful Courtyard area where our dog was welcome. The menu is glorious and wonderfully presented. The staff are really warm and friendly, Poppy is the perfect host and Nate was knowledgeable about the food and drink menu. It was so good we visited two days in a row to repeat the experience and order more! We've already been telling friends about this gem in Brighton and we will certainly be revisiting when we come back to the area. Thank you Burnt Orange team!
L.
Incredible food - set menu was delicious and gave you a taste of the best pieces on the menu and also well price. Loved the cocktails too. Waitresses were well humoured and really attentive. Can't wait to go back!

Visited for the first time last week and it definitely won't be our last. Great service, brilliant wine, a wonderful & characterful setting and beautiful food. Everything we tried was just delicious- Especially the chicken thigh and the miso aubergine. And the harissa! And the cocktails were amazing too. Was so surprised when the bill came- Ridiculously good value
J. M.
Visited here at the weekend and the food was fantastic. Great recommendations from our waiter. If you are a foodie order the aubergine, the pork belly, lamb cigars and the bread.
If all vegetarian food tasted like the aubergine I would convert.
The only negative I would say was the rude lady that lives above the shop, who was slightly aggressive and nearly ruined what was a special evening, but not the way I wished to end my meal.
A. L.
We have been frequent visitors to the Salt Room for quite a few years now and on Friday, I ate at Burnt Orange for the first time with a good mate of mine who was visiting Brighton for the weekend. The whole experience was fantastic. We weren't able to get a table until 1515 and when we arrived, the place was full. The service was superb, the food arrived promptly and all of it was exceptional. The £35 tasting menu was tremendous value. This is the best meal I've had in Brighton (against some very stiff competition). I have booked again for our daughter's graduation meal in a few weeks time and look forward very much to returning.
H. W.
Really lovely place. Decor modern and interesting (we sat inside), staff friendly and efficient, food quirky and delicious. We decided on the "Burnt Orange Experience" with too many small plates to count. Wonderful and great value. Just want Brighton needs.
J. O.
Incredible service. I needed to ask which dishes could be serviced without onion and garlic. The waitress returned with a menu marked up by the chef with which dishes they could adjust for me.
Food is excellent as is the décor and ambience.
B.
I have to say I'm a little confused by this place. I understand the mission to straddle the line between relaxed drinking venue and restaurant but I felt it didn't really land well in either. The food is good but overpriced for the portion sizes and some of the vegetable sides were just pedestrian. The potatoes were average at best. Cocktails were excellent - the Stone Beach Sour being my personal fave - and the staff were informal and welcoming enough to make us feel relaxed. But that I think was where it slipped for me. If it's a relaxed drinking venue then I feel the food is too far into the high-end restaurant camp, with prices to match. If it's a high-end restaurant (like their other venues) then the vibe is too informal. I'd go back for cocktails with friends for sure, but not to eat.
D. S.
Beautiful place with beautiful decor. The menu is fresh and interesting. Staff really polite and accomodating. Really impressed by the food...great quality ingredients thoughtfully put together. All dishes were full of flavour. Great work and will definitely return!
M. S.
A great evening - really good food in a nice friendly atmosphere. I definitely recommend the chef's selection menu!
D.
A brilliant new addition to Brighton’s vibrant restaurant scene. Excellent staff, service and every dish was utterly delicious. The team were attentive but not intrusive and the atmosphere was fantastic. Every single dish tasted absolutely amazing, in particular our stand out dishes were the Stone Bass Crudo and Rib-eye Steak.
L. I.
What an amazing meal! Service was great, presentation lovely, deco stylish and menu delicious and different. About time Brighton had restaurants of this standard open up serving great food at this level to keep locals coming into town for great a night out! Highly recommend.
D. T.
Absolutely great starters, nice mains, sweets need some work. Consider a plate warmer as food went cold very quickly.
E. R.
Gorgeous decor and welcoming friendly team. The food is exceptional! I love the atmosphere in here.
J. H.
We only stopped by briefly for a cocktail and they were fabulous! V friendly and a great space for a date night or to hang with friends

Everything I needed a birthday celebration to be. Some fantastic cocktails on and off the menu. Can't wait to go back.
E. G.
The food was amazing, our waitress was knowledgeable and delightful. Excellent service and great experience. Thank you.
K. T.
Attentive staff, delicious tasting menu and good cocktail selection - a real treat! I look forward to returning.
D. H.
Small plates, nicely presented, great service, some items on the menu were relatively pricey.
A. D.
As ever, delicious food and awesome service. Was an excellent way to celebrate my husband's birthday. Thank you for a fabulous evening!
B. S.
Fantastic food and very good service in a cosy and well designed space and atmosphere. Prices are also very reasonable !!
V. P.
The food was amazing, the drinks were amazing, the vibe was amazing. Special thanks to Charlene, who was an exemplary hostess, and really made sure we had a good time. Definite plans of becoming a regular here, and cannot wait for our next visit.
L. b.
After some confusion about a booking I had made in Advance where there was no record of my booking. Milly handled the situation perfectly and accommodated us. As always the food was excellent and Milly and her team made our night extra special with their friendly, professional approach. No wonder Burnt Orange is always busy. One of the Best new places to eat in Brighton. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
A. P.
This was a pricier restaurant however, I do think it was worth it. The food, service and ambience was excellent. Yes the plates are small, however, every plate really packed the flavour and the food was cooked beautifully. I would highly recommend this place!
C. S.
Had to go in here 3 times before I was offered a space at the bar, never mind a table, so I can't comment on the food. (Never sure why some receptionists take such delight in telling prospective Guests that their establishment is full for hours on end.) Bar service was, in the end, excellent.
If you choose to use their Wi-Fi, you will receive invitations to return.
A. C.
Fantastic food and cocktails with brilliant service and atmosphere

I work down the road from Burnt Orange and have been really excited to try it out. We went for lunch yesterday and it didn't disappoint. Food and service all excellent, and our server went the extra mile to make sure we were looked after. I can't wait to return. Thanks so much

Late night drinking at the Burnt Orange - cocktails are an absolute must. Follow the citrus notes - bitter untwisted and lemon sorbet were the ones to have. Lovely decor and trendy crowd. Fantastically welcoming front of the house and waiter. Will need to go back for the food!
S. T.
Delicious reasonably priced food. Nice restaurant. Super friendly staff.
O. J.
Amazing food, every dish was exceptional. Really good wines and cocktails.

I had been looking forward to going here since it opened. The staff were attentive and things seemed really well organised. We went for the burnt orange experience which is £35 per head. And it was ok, but honestly almost everything seemed a little lacking in any real dept of flavour. The starter portion was a single flatbed between two, hummus, lamb cigar and calamari, all were cooked well, the hummus was the best of the dishes. The mein was fish, BBQ pork, crispy potatoes, aubergine and courgette. Again all cooked well, but just didn't have much flavour. The only stand out dish was the aubergine, it was the only thing that was packed with flavour, texture and all elements that worked together. There was also some extra side sauces that felt pointless, perhaps just to seem like you are getting more than you are when reading the menu, they didn't work with any of the dishes really, one was a Herby oil that was tasteless, another was harissa, which I liked but didn't go with any dishes (which all had their own sauces anyway) the other was the same given with the calamari. It's just not necessary. I would perhaps give the place Another try, all dishes are cooked well, I just think they need to try a little harder as there are many places in Brighton offering similar that are doing it better.

Came here for my partners birthday. We were totally blown away by the food & the service. Thank you, we will definitely be returning!
H.
My wife and I just called into this new venue for a cocktail and were greeted warmly by the friendly bar staff and we sat at the bar. There are plenty of tables available and we have booked a further visit for lunch. The mixologists certainly seemed very experienced and we really enjoyed our cocktails. September 2021.
F. B.
Excellent service, great tapas style food, unusual combinations, plenty for plant based folk. Only drawback is that it is really popular!
S. M.
Always great
Staff attentive
Food is stunning
Up there as one of brightons best restaurants
G. T.
Great evening last night in the private dining room. A beautiful room, superb food and wine and great service from Tilly. Thank you.

Excellent fixed menu dinner choice. Friendly, helpful staff and pleasant ambiance.
Only the courgettes (some wet and soggy, others very firm) prevented 5 stars.
G. C.
Absolutely wonderful lunch. Very professional team/ front of house. The food and ambience was exceptional, very relaxed. The food was incredible, a really good selection and every dish was beautifully presented and you could see how much thought and care had gone into every dish. Would like to make a special mention for Elena who was our server. Her knowledge about the food and recommendations were spot on. She not only knew about the food you could really tell she was passionate about it too. Her drinks knowledge was also exceptional, she is a great asset to the team, was very friendly and professional and made our experience even more pleasurable. It was worth the wait and we most definitely will be back.

B. G.
Loved it. Wouldn't expected anything less from the same folks as Salt Room and Coal Shed. Really relaxing atmosphere and every dish we chose was 5/5 perfect. Will be back a lot I expect.
R. G.
Yeah well um fifty shades of brown. "Morrocan ish" Nothing inspiring. Which was a shame as I was really looking forward to it. The waiter asking what we felt was the standout from the tasting menu got a grudging " it's ok". But really I was just being polite. If an olive oil soaked range of dishes is your thing then go for it.
D. H.
Incredible food, reasonably priced and even better cocktails
L. C.
