Reviews of Harry Ramsden's

Enjoyable Monday dinner 🍽
‘You Can’t Leave England Without Eating Fish & Chips’🐟🍟😂 It is an icon! I highly recommend this restaurant (good food, staffs, environment, price) They are the most important aspects of how I rate a restaurant:) The golden battered cod is fresh and crispy; thick chips with fresh potatoes 🥔 Definitely will come back for the onion rings as well, they’re just perfect🥰 Staffs are so friendly and helpful. Reasonable price and generous portions
V. S. Y.
Food was absolutely fantastic and fresh. Classic cod and haddock are both to recommend!
Also - cheap and nice cocktails (£4.95) that were delicious.
All can be ordered through their website for table service by scanning a QR code at the table. Waiter was super friendly and helpful!
W. B.
I will start provocatively: I don't like fish and chips. I love chips, but battered cod or haddock definitely aren't my thing.
Thus, my first visit to Harry Ramsden's was non-consensual so to speak. Then I tried the food. That was several years ago and I have been hooked ever since. Harry Ramsden's fish&chips is unlike any other fish&chips: cooked to perfection, flavourful, super-fresh. It's the Rolls-Royce of fish&chips.
The portions are VERY generous (I'm a grown man and "medium" is enough to fill me up), and the prices are very reasonable. I love the unpretentious setting and atmosphere, and the staff are very, very nice. I just feel great there.
I cannot recommend this place enough.
If I can have one small criticism, it'd be directed towards the takeaway, which seems under-staffed and under-stocked to meet the client demand in a timely manner.
E. H.
Staff were lovely and friendly. Quick to order and get meal. We used the takeaway. I felt the chips were quite soggy. Child's portions are sufficient.
J.
Easy going place for a sit down fish and chips meal!
I got cod and chips, the cod was so soft and flakey....very delicious. I selected a small size which was good for me! Food was good!
Just giving this a 4 and not a 5 star because not enough tartare sauce was given, I had to request more. I wish they kept bottle of vinegar and bottle of tarter sauce on the table so guests wouldn't have to ask for it.
R. L.
Went for a Club 60 meal today. Prices have increased but that is understandable in the present economic climate. Club 60 remains very good value. The food was excellent but the service was very poor indeed. Staff seemed to be struggling to cope although we had not been told to expect a delay.
Whilst quality and value score full marks, the service was seriously lacking. Additionally the extra hot water we requested for our teapot (when the tea had gone cold) never came!
D. M.
A family trip to Brighton is not complete without fish and chips, we visited Harry Ramsden's on Saturday 2 July 2022 because the food has always been so good.
Cod & chips, sausage & chips, pie of the day was steak and kidney had with chips and 6 year old had fishcake & chips from the childrens menu.
Service was friendly and welcoming, food was lovely - freshly cooked and good portions.
Whole restaurant is clean and bright, we were given an activity sheet and crayons to keep our youngest party member happy while he waited for his lunch.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and even though we were there at peak lunch time the service did not suffer and we did not feel pressured to eat and leave.
Really enjoyed our visit and our meal, a 5* experience.

Ordered with code provided on table , delicious starters , main , desserts ,soft and hot beverages. Great attention and waiting times c: Will be coming back .
G. B.
Food was lovely. Took a little while to arrive. Whilst waiting for food to arrive decided to order a half of lager and a soft drink for my partner. As I was at the counter and paid then and there (they demand this) i wanted to take my drinks back to the table but was told they would bring them to us. Seemed like an eternity till they arrived, which seemed a waste of time as the meal came out pretty soon after that.
When meal arrived, went and ordered a pint of coke, said once as I ordered and again before I went back to the table "no ice"..........guess what......came full of ice !!!!
Although they ask your table number when ordering, there must be a communication break down as we see a lot of the poor serving staff walking around confused going to wrong tables !!
Also, as you pay before hand, you can't really leave a tip. Shame for the staff, as they were all very pleasant and wanting to be helpful. Very nice people.
Apart from that, a very nice meal and very nice people. Place could do with a coat of paint but would highly recommend the Cod and chips £15 for a medium. You can get it cheaper (see it for £8 at one place on the front) by the Zip wire ride but we didn't see that till after.
S. H.
Excellent quility fish and chips. Service very good.
Expensive though.
T. S.
Had fish and chips. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The dishes were tasty. Washrooms were clean. However a bit crowded and wait few minutes to enter. Orders were submitted via a QR code. However got food really fast.
I. F.
Very nice food as always the. High chair provided for 2 year old. Had to go to till to place order, as I was unsure if someone would come round to ask, as they were very busy. I highly recommend they supply kids plastic cutlery as adult ones unsuitable, but kids loved crayons and colouring activity. Thank you for a great time had by all of us.
A.
Lovely food, really friendly and convenient service , ordered and paid via the app!
K. R.
I miss fish and chips so much living in Ireland . The batter was light and crispy fresh ,the fish white and flaky. Didn't get on so well with the app ordering at the table but well worth the stress. Also with a wheelchair lady with us easy accessible restaurant a great day . Thank you
M. C.
Spent the day in Brighton and were almost put off by the 3.8 review rating. We needn't have worried as this restaurant is lovely. Clearly freshly cooked; hot and delicious. Will definitely return....😁👍
H. I.
It was only ok for me. Overall experience is actually good: respectable food (taste, texture, presentation and portion), attentive service and clean everything (table, chair, floor and toilet). And location is practically on the pier.
But it’s way too expensive for fish and chippies. I’ve had better at half the price.
T. P.
Never fault I would say this for a fish & chips shop but you MUST try the passion fruit martini. Good quality food
J. A. (.
Was a great meal. Fish was fluffy and moist. Batter was crispy, mushy peas were exactly how they should be. The chips were crispy and enjoyable.
Must go here again!
V. O.
The food was alright, but I found the service to be a little lacking. We had to order on an app and not all the food on the menu was showing. When we asked if they had it they said yes, but they weren't serving it. Overall though I enjoyed the food I had and it was a nice place to sit inside.
M. M.
Am on a short weekend break to Brighton and have ended up eating here twice. The food is delicious, the staff are incredible, and it's quick. Also, and to top it for me, they've resisted the urge to start adding dates to their sticky toffee pudding.
S. F.
A warm welcome and good atmosphere, staff were friendly and helpful. The fish had very crispy batter and chips were great. Will call in again when down that way.
E. T.
Absolutely lovely, me and my other half came in for our chip shop favourites and weren't disappointed. The service was wonderful and quick, food was perfect...leaving happy and very full! 😊
J. B.
Great example of a ture British fish & chips restaurant. Entered just before lunch time crowd.. Met with a warm welcome and a cosy atmosphere. Clean and tidy with a good choice of lunch options. Thank you all as its been a lovely experience.
M. D.
The first time visiting Harry Ramsden's. We thought someone would come to our table to take our order, wrong, had to go to bar with our orders, service was slow, not very well organised in general. Scampi was nice but chips weren't, some were dry and inedible.
J. H.
Very nice fish and chips, over 60s special offer. Good value, pleasant staff. All good. Would recommend
J. C.
Service is ok, it's still all order on an app which required you to sign up add a card etc etc. But the food is fantastic and portion sizes are huge well worth a visit if you're not in a rush and happy to forgo the table service! It is a chippy after all!
D. P.
Had a lovely meal with my family yesterday evening the fish was very yummy and the young waiter (I believe he said his name was Charlie) was very helpful compliments to the chef and all staff 5stars
J. O.
Polite on entry the host was helpful went the extra mile to check with kitchen on my behalf on an order, best part was the portion it was big and that's how I like it. Would definitely recommend.
J. “. R.
Katie is an amazing waitress :) very patient kind and considerate! Lovely place Katie deserves a raise!! Thank you for excellent service
H. G.
SIMPLY ONE ☝🏼 OF THE BEST ❤️ FISH 🐟 & CHIPS 🍟 IN BRIGHTON. LOOK 👀 NO FURTHER GUYS. AMAZING 😉 DEALS. AWESOME 😎 QUALITY. ALL IS PERFECT 👌🏼
FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFFS. EVEN MY MOTHER HAS GIVEN THEM EXTRA TIP 💷 FOR GREAT 👍🏼 HELP & OUT STANDING TOP SERVICE. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. 💯% 😊
I’M GIVING EXTRA 5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
U. K.
Great service. Social distancing and clearly signs of cleaning tables after customers have visited. Had a great meal. Freshly cooked and crispy fish and chips
C. S.
Food was good,
The only thing that was annoying... The waiter came every 5 minutes to ask if everything was OK.
In other circumstances was good what it was doing but the place was not busy.
Anyway if u wanna have some good fish 🐠 and chips 🍟 nice place to go.
j. t.
Food was very good.we had the pensioners special. Prices quite reasonable.very friendly staff looked after us well.
D. D.
I took fish and chips. Knowing that I don't like fish and that I ate everything, you can understand that this place is great. The staff is very friendly and you get your food very fast. The prices are affordable, I paid 13 pounds for the classic fish and chips and a coke. Definitively a place to visit!
a. s.
I visited the take away section .... The fish and chips were very good ... the fish was fresh and tasty ... the chips were ok .... the portion size is very good .... they do various meal deal options too and some options in chicken also .... it’s a take away place so no sitting place ... very near to Brighton pier .... overall good
Edited : visited the sit in this time and The eat in section is also good with quick service
J. R.
5* fish & chips, grab takeaway and enjoy on the best beach in the UK. Everything is cooked fresh here unlike 90% of other fish and chip shops, and you can really tell. Converted my gf to fish and chip lover.
S. l.
Such a lovely visit! The staff were so good and very welcoming. We thought to try the over 60's meal. Plus added two glasses of wine. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. It finished off a good day out. And we will definitely return.
R. B.
Ordered 2 large portions of cod and chips that came with mushy peas and tartare sauce. The food was decent enough and fresh, but missing the wow factor in taste I usually get from fish and chips by the sea. However the main things I found lacking were both the decor (bright but bland and without character/warmth) and the atmosphere, although the latter may have been because we came soon after opening and so it was very quiet, with no music and none of the usual background chatter. It livened up a bit as more customers arrived. It was also quite hot inside the restaurant with no ventilation as the door was shut. On leaving we found it had been opened and there was some breeze flowing. Our server was friendly and efficient. I visited this restaurant a couple of years ago and remember it as pleasant and buzzing, so I was quite disappointed on this occasion, although the food somewhat made up for it. Not sure I would try it again.
R. L.
Shown to table not told you have to go to counter to order food mediocre seems to have lost mobile since lockdown
B. P.
So impressed with the Fish & Chips and service, very well organised with COVID-19 procedures, safe environment, will definitely visit again.
A. S.
Apparently this was always my grandmother's favourite fish and chip shop... Having visited I can see why! Fantastic fish and chips
J. T.
Very good fish and chips and friendly service but yesterday the service for take away was very slow, it wasn't busy so no excuse. They forgot our mushy peas which we paid for.
S. M.
Just needs updating and you can get the same quality anywhere so you have to ask, why? Used to be the best you could get in Fish and Chips but everyone's caught up now
N. L.
Harry Ramsdens chip shops have been a long running business. Located at seaside towns, they offer a decent variety of food. The restaurant was very busy when we visited around 18.00pm, but with the location it was to be expected. The menu offered traditional fish and chips as well as burgers and a few other options. The presentation of the food was good and our waitress was helpful, all around a good place to eat
H. S.
So we popped in for some chips and couldnt help but order more seen as the prices are really reasonable. We wasnt disappointed the food was amazing and the staff were all polite, positive and friendly
Cant wait to come back
T. B.
Perfect fish, very nice service and reasonably priced drinks. Chips were mediocre but were compensated for
C. H.
Good food good service little pricey but you get what you pay for
P. G.
Good fish and chips. Excellent service. Lovely views from our table.
M. W.
Always a good fish and chips with a good location just across from Brighton pier.
Decor is looking a bit tired.
T. S.
This is the first time i have visited a Harry Ramsden. I had cod and chips which was excellent quality. The staff very friendly. My only reason not giving a fifth star was there seemed little difference between normal and large..... overall a good experience!
B. A.
We went in here lunchtime today and the food was lovely and the staff very friendly. Would recommend.
a. t.
Fish was nice and battered, however the chips were soggy and a huge let down. Curry sauce is odd and we regretted getting it. Over the meal was ok.
L. P.
Food was great but the service here is absolutely awful, if you want to have a door slammed in your face purely for waiting to be seated then this is the exact place you need to come.
Y. N.
Lovely food cooked fresh and served hot.
Good service - highly recommend
H. C.
I've tried first time from outside it was taste but little bit expensive..
W. 1.
Went to one in Eastbourne two days ago it was nothing speical but better than this. Large is not a large in my book. Fish was good, if on the small side, chips were under cooked and lacking in quantity also. Why I didnt get a boxI don't know.
A. H.
Popped in here for a quick snack when visiting Brighton, would have chosen takeaway but it had started to rain! Had to order online (luckily my phone has a qr code scanner, myself being the only tech savvy oap in our party!) despite being seated in the restaurant which seemed strange and had to open an account to pay, entering my card details, even stranger, although this seems to be common practice in many places these days. The food arrived freshly cooked quite quickly and was very tasty. The restaurant was very clean although a little austere I thought personally.
S. B.
Great food, excellent customer service and my entire family felt welcomed
L. Y.
Had a great plate of “legendary” fish and chips. Great food. Friendly staff.
C. M.
Fish chips lovely hubby had I had the pie so nice hot and staff friendly value 4 money
M. W.
A must for a trip to Brighton. Food was amazing and kids cleared their plates.
S. Y.
had a take-away from Harry Ramsden's so that we could sit on the nearby pebbles beach and eat. Their fish and chips was good. Generous portion of chips along with nicely fried haddock. Haddock wasn't overly fishy like most other places.
K.
Seated fairly quickly unlike harvester across the road (1hr wait). Food ordered taking on you smart phones so be prepared not sure what they do if you don't have one! Food was lovely and fresh.
S. L.
We had a take-away: was ok, nothing exceptional.
Fish on the dry side, but batter was very crisp.
Staff behind the counter were nice, big smiles. Maybe a bit expensive compare to other take-aways in the area.
N.
Had a lovely fish and chips with mushy peas and pickled onion. Freshly cooked absolutely perfect. Sadly the Caesar Salad was awful. Very disappointed with it but leaving 5 stars because the fish was good.
m. T.
Had the senior meal...very good value.
N. S.
Cheap and cheerful. Great fish and chips as well as other dishes including wholetail scampi, sausages and other classics. Very friendly service.
I. R.
My wife and daughters, went to Harry Ramsdens today and they said the customer service was absolutely superb. The store is a credit to the company and Hannah the Manager and her staff were so polite and the food was excellent. They actually brought me a fish & chips takeaway with onion rings and I must say that it was absolutely delicious. We will definitely visit again the next time we are in Brighton. Thank you.
S. S.
Good food and great views of Brighton seafront. Great friendly service.
T. B.
I've had much better for a lot less money. I ordered a regular size haddock and it was more like a small piece from my regular shop. It was also cooked to the point of being dry. The chips were not really crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Very disappointing from a place that boasts to be world class.
E. N.
Love it.great fish and chips and mussy pea
L. S.
The sign is correct 👌that food was fabulous. The best plaice we have ever tasted. Your chefs are amazing! The service was great. Lovely waiting staff. Thank you for such a lovely experience 😘
m. s.
Quite busy, 20min wait for food, food was what you would expect, was not any better or worse than any other fish and chip shop
P. L.
Not bad bit far to go I've just increased golden mill price
R. M.
Lovely food, great portions and good choice for veggies!
A. H.
Great British fish and chips. Chips were great.
D. H.
Great fresh fish and chips with a view of the sea as well.
M. K.
Great place to eat when visiting Brighton seaside...food is delicious 😋
A. N.
Food was very nice and the price was good as well
P. H.
Brilliant place to eat the fish was very very nice and a good price also.
d. h.
Wonderful fish and chips, good service.
S. W.
Visited early evening on Tuesday 10th for fish and chips. Great location and friendly staff who made us feel comfortable despite being busy and short staffed. Easy contact free ordering and speedy service.
A. M.
Lovely staff, and the Club 60 deal is a perfect bargain, perfect portions at a perfect price.
P. S.
Order online using a QE code and pay online delivered to your table. Good system just a shame you have to pay online. Older people or people without smart phones may struggle.
Fish and chips and a drink for £18. Very nice fish and very good chips. Friendly staff and well organised.
You have to try it once the fish and chips are very tasty and worth the money.
D. W.
Good price for over 60.Food not hot and soggy chips.
P. D.
The best onion ring that I have ever had. Strongly recommend this.
K. V.
Great fish & chips, reasonably priced.
j. w.
Excellent food, service and location.
C. M.
This place was the first place I ate Fish and Chips with my husband.
Delicious
p. t.
Lovely place and food and service was excellent would recommend it to everybody
T. S.
Delicious! I ordered the large and it surprised me how big it was! The chips were greasy and by the time I finished half the meal the fish and chips were a bit soft. Great place to eat! Love how you order here and eat on the pier
A. S.
Decent Fish and Chips, not cheap tho.
T. U.
Very friendly and polite staff. Delicious food.
F. O.
It was good even though I didn't eat because of my diet but my kids liked the food and the amazing view.
Polite customer service. There are three parking spaces just in front of it which charge £3.60 for one hour (£6.20 two hours)
J. M.
Great food. Fast service. What more can i say
C. C.
Best fish and chips I've had in a very long time! And the service was great too, very friendly... I will be back...
A. B.
Best Fish and Chips I ever had.
S.
I have had 4 delivery's now from here . 1st 2 orders, the food was nice and fresh , arrived quick super hot . The last 2 orders chips tasted so try . Like they had been re heated . . Not very nice .
S. G.
Recently visited and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the fish and chips plus the very tasty curry sauce. OAPs can get fish and chips with a tea/coffee and a dessert for a very reasonable price!
G. P.
Great food, friendly staff and very clean
R. S.
i am from London and struggle to find great fish and chips, so I heard it's amazing in Brighton and in this place in particular, so I headed there with a friend, the first thing I noticed is that it was busy and active, which is a good sight, we were seated pretty quick though. I noticed the prices were not low, I think you could easily spend £18 per person with a drink. I was expecting it to be cheaper since it's not in London! however, the prices were not an issue specially when the food arrived, the portions were very generous, the fish and its batter was delicious, it was perfectly cooked, the service was very pleasant, and so the atmosphere. Suitable for families and groups of friends as well. I would definitely go there again.
A.
Went on a Sunday so it was fairly quite. Had dynamite prawns, the ultimate fish burger and a large coke. Service was pretty quick and the food was good. Dynamite prawns being the highlight. The burger itself was pretty good. Not too expensive for what you get as chips and coleslaw provided.
D. F.
Good service. Just average food and overpriced
R. C.
We had large cod, haddock and chips takeaway. We both like the cod. It was nice cooked! The order was quite slow and people need to wait outside to collect the food. There is a restaurant next to the takeaway one we wish we visit instead of takeaway after a long day hiking in Seven Sister.
A. T.
Excellent service and staff. Food was incredible. Highly recommended. Good sea views. But alas not today, as it was gale force !!
K. R.
Has to be Harry Ramsdens for me! Fab restaurant (gets very busy). Delicious food and just across from the Pier etc
N. R.
Chips were ok but the fish was excellent! Best fish I've had in years.
Shame the outside of the restaurant is a bit run down.
E. O.
Fillet of Cod and Fillet of Plaice
First time having fish and chips in years and I must say it was a delightful experience! 🤝🏾
S. K.
I really liked this place and it was very appealing. It sits in the middle of the Brighton beach. Their service was okay and more from the manager who was endearing. They serve mostly anything to do with the traditional fish and chips. Well cooked. Maybe could of done with some white bread, a little more atmosphere and table care. But overall, decent fish and chips.
K. K.
The food was delicious and the customer service was very nice and patient.
E. M.
Great food as usual and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Had to sit outside due to current COVID restrictions but they had a nice little cordoned off area and were very attentive. Couldn't really be faulted.
R. L.
Shown to table & food brought to table, no other interaction or service from staff. Ordered & paid by internet, restaurant clean & tidy, toilet was a completely different matter and food was nothing to shout about. Would not recommend
S. D.
Wonderful meal of cod and chips. Had bread and butter pudding with custard for dessert and a Lavazza coffee. Excellent service. Well worth the trip to Brighton.
T. M. P.
Simple yet enjoyable place. Good for informal dinners with friends. Don't expect fancy dishes. The place and the food is a bit basic in quality and presentation. But prices and quantity are OK for a seated restaurant.
If you're just interested in trying fish and chips perhaps any of the dozens fast-food shops in Brighton would do the same job.
L. c.
Since 1928. Harry Ramsden ‘s is a famous place in Brighton. It’s been running the business for almost one century and it has the most famous fish and chips from Uk. British icon !
J. B.
Super food great proportions exactly alegion advice too.
K. H.
Chips were soggy and fish was well done. However I find most F&C restaurants serve like this. Staff were friendly and helpful and restaurant was clean
T. B.
Had a brilliant trip here today, the staff were on point and willing to support during the transition they have had to make during the Pandemic. The staff were efficient, friendly and supportive. A well deserved 5* service and I think all members of staff working today should be recognised for their hard work.
T. F. (.
From outta town. South east Croydon/ Bromley. Came to have a walk on the beach. Got recommended via work council work that “ Harry’s” is the best in the business. So decided to try... meet Claudio in the store. Lovely fellow good Customers service the food was amazing. Great deal on the 2 sausages... will come again. Lovely.
S. T.
Delicious cod and chips, fish overhung both sides of the plate. Service was a little slow, probably due to Covid and lower than usual staff levels. Well recommended, clean, safe and comfortable
D. B.
Excellent service and really good fish and chips. Very reasonable prices, will certainly go again!
a. f.
Had the over 60,s menu great value
G. L.
The fish was very good, but the legendary porton was not legendary. Good service, but one of our table did have to ask a server for a couple of things that they had ordered, but had not turned up. Not sure what double fried chips is about, a tad dry if you ask me. However I have to say that overall it was good.
c. h.
The over 60s meal is excellent, 5 star for choice
A. H.
Absolutely lovely food here, great allergy menu (for those who need it). With regards to covid-19 safety, they are on it, track and trace system in place, very clean and well maintained. The staff are efficient and friendly, food comes quick, is hot and delicious, and good price! Top quality 👍
D. &. M. B.
I've been here twice in a week. One of the best fish and chips in Brighton. Some of these other reviews are laughable, racist staff and bad flooring? (It was raining all day today so not a surprise!0 The chips seem to be better cooked then they were a few weeks ago and the haddock is to die for. Lovely location, ( i am a local so could be bias about location!) Love Harrys!
J. “.
Lovely food. Shame about the service! Understand their short of staff. But could have been more clear and helpful.
D. J.
Great service good prices food cooked to order well worth a vist
I. C.
I gave 3 stars doesn't mean I dislike the place. I like it, but there's nothing too special about it. The fish tasted fresh, so that's the best thing about it. The rest is just so-so. This place is always super crowded! It's going to be a challenge if you come here in a big group without any reservation. The service is fine, although a bit slow.
D. S. T.
After a walk through the Pier, there is no better place to have a traditional English fish and chips. Even though they are the biggest chain Serving fish & chips, their quality is hardly equalled. They have special prices for people over 60. The staff is friendly and they will happily explain you the difference in the different types of fish served. If you definitely want to walk and try the battle to keep your food in the Pier against the seagulls, you can always have a takeout.
R. D.
It was our last night in Brighton and me and my children decided to eat at Harry Ramsden’s and I’m glad we did - the food was out of this world. Cooked to perfection and delicious. My 5 year old, who is super fussy, ate the majority of her food and had a lovely time there and my other two were just as pleased. The kids meals are really reasonably priced and with both adult and kids meals, the portion sizes are decent. The mash really is creamy - and dreamy. Stunning. Brilliant staff, our waiter Claudio was lovely and very efficient. The place was spotless and all round lovely. Thank you, Harry Ramsden’s I wish we’d eaten here before. We plan on returning next year and will definitely eat here again 😊.
S. B.
Fish was not huge amount but very fresh. Battered sausages were limp and pale. Chips good. Staff weren't that bothered about serving us, and 2 or 3 were wiping tables, and chatting while we were waiting to order - a drink and meal, it's a fish and chip shop, so you know what you want! !! Wake up! !
J. C.
Lovely food good fish and chips enjoyed it will come back next time I’m in Brighton!
S. K.
Great food and service
I love the way the food presented plus the waiter was extra courteous. The Dynamite Prawn was tasty and chips fluffy and crispy. The 60 club meal was a fab deal too esp enough for a hungry man. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious. We only paid about £26 all together. Great value!
This place opposite the Brighton Pier is a gem. All it needs is a bit of modern furnish and more social media present. Definitely come back again .
M. h.
Service was Great, fish was lightly batted

Quite refreshing to see such a clean and nicely decorated fish and chips restapurant. No tatty deco all over the place. I dont have to tell you about the food. You can judge from the picture.IT TASTES AMAZING! I am not really a fan of fish and chips but for the first time, I liked eating this one. Good price for what you get and service was incredible.Food didn't take long to arrive and staff were friendly.
A. W.
Lovely fish and chips, what let it down you have to order your food via your phone.
D. C.
The best batter on fish bites ever xx
G. T.
Went a couple of years ago, was pretty awesome.
M. C.
I highly recommend this fish and chip restaurant and takeaway opposite Brighton's Palace Pier. Went there one Sunday and the Cod, Haddock and Chips me and my partner had were excellent.
The staff were great - friendly and attentive.
Excellent fish and chips - recommended.
k. g.
I went here on Sunday 11th of August 2019 for a day out to Brighton and had large fish and chips with mushy peas and tartar sauce . Had bread and butter for an extra 99 p.
Drinks i got tap water with ice.
I am very happy with the fish and chips , good quality and very nice worth the 10 to 15 minutes wait.
Helpful staff and nice.
The only down side was expensive for £13.50 large fish and chips but the food was very nice and I would recommend this place if you do visit Brighton.
o. l.
Was the best cod I've ever had (I got the cod burger) the food was HOT when it came out (so was obviously freshly cooked) the chips where amazing also HOT . The restraunt was clean and looked good with plenty of space between the tables . The service was amazing with the waiter being nice but not over doing it. Was so good we went twice
H. B.
At Brighton for a short holiday with family found this amazing restaurant, and the lovely waitress Gaia was excellent, very friendly and helpful. The other staff were also so friendly.Felt very welcomed.Good quality food.
J. G.
Walked in there following friend's recommendation. The fish was dripping in fat a there was more of fried bread than actual fish. Chips were only ok, definitely not worth 10 GBP in my opinion. Peas were the only good stuff on the plate unfortunately. Very mediocre, will not be coming again.
D. C.
Poached fish (as I don't eat batter) was lovely. Well presented and tasted great. Very small glasses of fizzy drinks for the price
R. A.
Quality of the fish was very good and the chips were nice. But the batter was extremely greasy. When I spoke to them they didn't say anything or even apologise which was disappointing. Wouldn't bother going back, not sure why it's famous.
a. c. m.
Great place for fish n chips,,good service,,I have a YouTube channel, have a look it has Brighton Pier and me walking and talking about Brighton,,ab cammy m ,,please subscribe leave comments and click the bell please, 🔔
B. M. R.
Nothing too soecial as a dining experience. The chips a bit soggy. Service slow and no upselling so was not offered dessert. Staff seemed a bit inexperienced but they smiled and were pleasent. Salt and pepper squid as a starter was a disaapointment. Too crunchy and over cooked. The cod was good in the main course but the batter could have been better. If you are over 60 grab the Club 60 deal available any time. It's a good offer.
D. B.
I was pleased with staff polite and friendly approach,
During days of pandemic we've had to order online and I wanted something out of the menu ... thankfully stuff was understandable and we've placed most of our order via app and paid the difference for my fussy special at the till
Food was lovely
Fresh, tasty, large portion which makes it value for money ,
Place was clean, tidy , made me feel really comfortable , felt like we (family) were there on our own even though the place was half full
..
Pleasant experience
Happy to give 5 out of 5
Will definitely go there again
r. 9.
It's okay, nothing special. You can see the sea front from the restaurant .
Food was okay, chips weren't that great and were served luke warm. Sausages where popping hot though, which made up for it.
The price is very fair for the establishment and it was over the road from my hotel so wasn't too bad I guess .
Service was very quick and the staff are very friendly especially my server Rebekah.
K. V.
regular fish was over priced for what it was, probably would get better quality fish on the sea front from a fish n chip shop, friends burger was quite the shambles and the beans were cold and stodgy
M. S.
Friendly staff, helpful, clean and tidy. Both restaurant and take away. Best fish and chips I have had and am not a great fish eater. Will be going back and soon.
M. H.
Food was amazing arrived quickly and was hot amazing taste. Vibe was nice and chilled and our server was a delight! Smiling away and chatting to us. Wish I got her name cause she deserves so much recognition
G. C.
Really good fish and chips but don't get desert £5.50 for a couple of mouthfuls but tastes good.
S. J. (.
Fish and chip here is amazing. I never like fish and chip before until I try this one. Sooooo amazing! The fish is juicy and a bit chewy, and absolutely fresh! Avo on the side is small so great, perfect combination with chips!
M.
Loved the Fish 'n' Chips (COD Regular £10.29). It was my first time to have and I'm extremely satisfied. Delicious 👍😊. Would recommend any fish lovers to go for it. I wished they open their branch with the same cook (to maintain same taste) in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
I.
Harry Ramsden's in Brighton serves one of the most delectable fish and chips. The amicable staff, the ambience and the view from the restaurant adds to its charm. They have a decent dessert menu (bread butter pudding being my favourite) and a excellent deal for seniors too. You can relax with a glass of beer or stimulate yourself with a pot of Yorkshire tea. If you are in Brighton (UK), this is a must visit restaurant.
i. l.
Brighton spot - very clean and has very friendly staff members. Our waiter tried his best to go above and beyond for us which was sweet.
I give it 5 stars as it's the first restaurant I've been to that has a microwave and bottle warmer out in the open for mum's and babies.
And free refill chips? My.gosh!!
M. G.
The best batter and fish.
Large chips were a bit small.
Curry sauce lovely..
A. N.
Lovely fish and chips served in a safe area. Maybe should warm the plates.
Senior deal very good value.
A. A.
Food as good as always, but the decor has changed dramatically. Still a nice place to eat 👌🏻😁
S. A.
Fish and chips were very nice. Staff were very helpful & friendly. Highly recommend
R. R.
Absolutely AWESOME!!! I highly recommend the fish is to die for The one and only problem is the beer not a great selection on tap!!!!
S. C.
This place has gotten better over the years and the prices have been made more reasonable service isnt to bad, the only thing I'd have to say that's negative is the staff seem like they don't want to be there and are grumpy sometimes but I suppose you get that with most places. Probably the best fish and chips on the seafront!.
R. G.
Awesome. Cooked fresh and tasted good! One of the waiters looked like the French bloke from dinner date (Fred Sirieix)!!!
I. B.
Can’t beat a good plate of fish and chips by the sea!
A. G.
Nice and friendly place for a family, a bit blunt for my tastes regarding display and interior design.
Staff is friendly!
We have been served by a guy who was extremly friendly and nice, keeping everything very professional, explaining everything and being of huge help to us, but I was surprised to be told by manager that he is surprised about his employee as he is know as being the opposite, which I do not bite as the guy was professional, full stop.
We wanted to tipp him but was impossible as we do not carry cash on us, but plastic, there was no way to leave a tip using credit card.
We insisted but nothing was done!
Also, as I said, please is lovely, location as well very strategic in Brighton, near the Pier.
Food is quite expensive, but nice!
R. A.
It wasn't busy when I went around six o'clock on a weekday, but it wasn't the fastest take away service ever. The regular cod and chips is on the small side really (you can't see it as it's not behind glass at the counter, but prepared and kept backstage) and you have to pay for sauces, but the food itself was undoubtedly delicious which made up for a lot. Great location too, you can get to the beach before your chips get cold.
Y. A.
Classic fish and chips. The store is located in right in front of Brighton pier so you can enjoy amazing view. Usually very busy and full of customers.
J. H. T.
It's ok but my partner is more of a fan than me because of the cocktails
W. F.
The best fish and cihps on the planet. We always go to the takeaway part, rather than the restaurant part. Lovely huge pieces of fluffy white cod in golden batter, and a big generous portion of chips. Can not be beat. Large means HUGE, so bear that in mind!
V. M.
Tasty fish and chip but make sure you are not too hungry before you go there because it's a long wait.
Get rid of the tea/coffee for the 60 special and serve a bigger portion of fish.
D. L. L.
You must visit this attraction when you visit Brighton
R. W.
We had a better experience than other recent reviewers. Fish and chips were well cooked but portion size for standatd cod a bit on the small size, especially given the price. Two negatives were the peas which were massively over cooked snd the bread which tasted stale and mouldy.
Waiting staff were eastern european but very polite and efficient.
Overall pretty goos but expensive for simple fish and chips
W. H.
Best fish and chips in town
F. P. C.
I ate there a few years back while visiting England. It was good. I asked for a menu to take as a souvenir but waitress wouldn't let me. I should have taken it, lol. My friend Chris Collins suggested I should but I didn't want to go to jail. Lol. Great place. Chris suggested it while he took me to Brighton for the day. Would like to return there soon.
s. d.
Great meal. Efficient staff and manager couldn't do enough for us. Best fish supper we've had for years! Really good.
T. G.
Fish was good but chips were disappointing. Too hard.
K. D.
Brighton Shop. Went in late at 9pm. Manager was pleased to see us & was served by a girl with a great smile & was made to feel welcome by both. On watching the manager throughout I could see that he has a passion for the business. The seafood platter was tasty with plenty for two people. The Cod burger was ok but the coleslaw is a no no for me as having no taste & dry. On the whole the food was no better then any fish & chip shop restaurant & falls short of are local Superfish restaurant at Tolworth Surrey.
My wife was served her bottled beer with a traditional back in the olden days heavy half pint glass with many a scratch on it. A more modern smooth & lighter glass would of been more suited.
I left the waitress a £5.00 tip for her lovely smile.
R. D.
Standard nothing special. Good service though.
A.
A must visit restaurant ! Fish (cod) was lovely & creamy in a tasty batter. Chips were cracking & all food was served piping hot.
D. P.
Totally the best fish and chips in UK!
A. F.
Nice food and good top ups on chips.
R. F.
Great place for fish & chips. Reasonable prices for the food you get.
M. F.
Fabulous for fish and chips. Great service and friendly staff.
O. K.
We always have our fish and chips at Harry Ramsden’s, the food is always fresh and tastes great, never disappoints. If you’ve never tried fish and chips you should pop in and check this place out !
P. C.
Well run frendly staff good menu . Nice atmosphere even just out of covit restrictions well set out
C.
Great delicious food and also one of Brighton best restaurants.
T. W.
Pleasant staff, greeted with a smile. Food was tasty and seating area was nice to sit in. Only slight thing that let it down was the portion sizes on the fish and chips could be better.
L. D.
Good fish and chips, fish almost melts in the mouth. Free chips refill if you have any space left. Good service and atmosphere.
L. M.
The food was fantastic, from mains to dessert, to coffee. Nice and clean. Staff were attentive, it wasn't too busy though. A great meal all round.
L. E.
Tasty food and friendly service. The reason for 4 stars is that the food was not traditional like I was expecting and the restaurant wasn't particularly comfortable with the whole place bright white. Overall it was reasonably priced and the food was good quality
D. B.
Came to Brighton for the weekend and had to get myself some fish and chips whilst by the sea. I was seated and served straight away and the portion sizes were generous.
A. S.
Pretty standard really. Its a nice place to eat or get takeaway. Service is quite rushed and some people leave their littler about.
Food is nice but standard food. Not blown away but not dissapointed.
A. G.
First time to Brighton! BEST fish & chips, curry sauce I ever had. Perfectly cooked fish, crispy batter. Come open one in Plymouth please
A. C.
Delicious fish, but the chips are a little bit not crunchy enough, still a very good restaurant serving fish and chips 😋
P. O.
Enjoyable experience. Food was excellent. Had to wait a little time due to busyness of restaurant. Staff were extremely professional. Over all experience 5/5.
M. J.
Bonkers busy (school holidays) but nicely cooked fish & chips. My meal and Mrs £21 for large cod onion rings 2 chips 0% beer and juice
W. C.
Food good, good service..pity they want to use our mobile phone for intrusive personal details...or we don't eat!
S. L.
Great classic fish and chips restaurant. The food is good, fair portions and great value for money. Highly recommended!
K. D.
Portions a bit small. But staff very friendly and helpful. Bit pricey
l. e.
Very hard working waiter and very polite
T. A.
Not the best experience. They do offer an ok fish and chips, but nothing very special. The location is convenient though, and the dining area is by the Pier which is a plus. Service tend to be quite slow most of the times.
K. K.
Good fish and chips, good portions not many people however a little bit pricey. Very good cocktails and very strong!
H. B.
First decent fish and chips I had when I first moved to Brighton. Love the battered cod and they definitely have the best mushy peas I ever had.
C.
Waitress forgot my food so I had to sit and watch my friend eat.
The food was good, although not worth the reputation.
Wouldn't recommend it, wouldn't steer clear, it was average.
D. A.
The food was very good and we enjoyed ourselves, good service.
T. S.
Best F&C but still expensive.
B. W.
Always eat here when in Brighton. Fish always cooked as you want it. Staff are lovely and polite. Go to Brighton from London to eat at Harry Ramadan. Well worth the trip.
D. S.
Fantastic place to eat. The food is of superb quality and the staff are very friendly. I location is good as well which is just opposite the pier. There is another one in Worthing as well
M. M.
Nice fish and chips
#.
the meal arrived quite quickly, the chips were warm and fish was hot, but I am a fussy nugger when it comes to food temp.
L. W.
Lovely staff tonight and organised covid-19 wise. Thank you! Would have been quite expensive for what it was if it wasn't for the government 'eat out' scheme, but to be fair the price is relevant to the location.
D. S.
If you like trad fish and chips this is great. Family friendly, good portions, popular with the over 60s. Can be very busy.
k. k.
The restaurant was good .. the food was better than what the rating were ... Worth the visit .. had fish and chips and onion rings ... The staff were really friendly ...
S. C.
The Sri Lankan fish curry was amazing and very friendly staff, we got there not long before they were due to close but we didn't feel rushed to finish our meal at all, would definitely recommend it x
F. M. N. 1.
BLIMEY NO WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE SIR OR MADAM ALL DONE ON AN APP DOWNLOAD IT CHOOSE WHAT YOU WANT PAY FOR IT STRAIGHT AWAY AND THEN THE FOOD COMES NICE FOOD HAD A PIECE OF POACHED COD BUT BRING BACK THE MEET AND GREET AND WAITRESS OR WAITER AND YOU CAN ONLY PAY BY CARD
L. S.
Although the service was friendly and professional, unfortunately the quality of the Fish and Chips was very average. It is a great shame a household name has declined to this level.
M. G.
Good food, ordered a takeway - friend ordered some curry sauce and we were waiting 20 mins for a tiny pot! If we hadn't asked several times they wouldn't have noticed
T. R.
Great service. Great meal. Best cod and chips in the world.
G. W.
Very nice fish and chips and family prices. Very helpful staff. Go and end enjoy. Happy Dazz's.👪🍟🍟😋👍👍👍
H. T.
Good fish and chip shop, not the best on the sea front but still good. Eat in or take away. Best to get the meal as individual items are costly.
K. V.
Great fish & chips with great staff & service
D. H.
Great food and pleasant staff. Pricey but very good.
m. g.
Great food, great service
J. M.
Loved it warm friendly and the haddock and chips were perfect and our waitress keeley was very attentive and made sure we had every thing we needed 😃
K.
Great cod, chips and curry sauce!!!!!. Friendly manager and waitress. Will go back for sure. Thank you........
N. C.
Amazing fresh food. Super tasty curry sauce too.
S. D.
Excellent great value for money
K.
Best fish and chips. Lives up to its reputation.
R. H.
I always enjoy the restaurant, staff are attentive and it is always a good fish and chips. Last time I tried the toffee apple flavour ice tea which was delicious, I would recommend!
T. P.
Standard Harry Ramsden's fare, with everything cooked fresh so you can expect to wait a while compared to other fish and chip shops.
A. S.
After many a time ambling around the sea front , I find myself in here eating chips, I should try out different establishments but I guess I’m a creature of habit. Good place for food.
M. p.
Harry's Take-Away Shop: Iconic shop with classic fish and chips. Cod was cooked to perfection. It's moronic to eat fish and chips in the sit-down waited restaurant.
A. H.
Bit outdated however cod was exceptional and large fish was massive. Def one of the best 🐟 & 🍟 ! Very recommended!
A. P.
Very very nice food and drink. Very nice environment and good use of colour in the restaurant. Me and my family had a very kind waiter and very polite would diffenetly come back !!!!
K.
Great food, prices and staff. Right at the Brighton Pier.
M. Q.
So they have been around for years. The fish was nothing special than what you can find at so many other places across town. Just that this one was overpriced and tasted the same.
Z. C.
The flavour is quite proper, not too salty. I think the point is the service and environment. History background and projected film in the restaurant makes it very special indeed.
J. K.
Portion (I chose a bigger fish) was just about right, and the fish and chips were as reliably good as usual. Nice batter.
N. J.
Quite pricey but what do you expect in the South. Average fish and chips. Not bad.
A. M.
Excellent, great and caring service.
T. “. H.
Good old fish and chips. Reasonable prices and not too busy.
K. W.
Lovely food ..good prices ...brilliant location and weather ( February 19) unusually good ...staff at restaurant can't be faulted
M. B.
The Girkins and Garden Peas were absolutely awful. But the Cod and Chips were superb. The service was pretty good too!
S. M.
The service was very good we were very pleased with the staff very friendly we were met by a lovely young lady who was called amy she was very polite and smiley the food was very good well done brighton harryramsdens

Some very nice fish and chips!
J. K.
Great place to eat close to Brighton Pier. Good chippy food, and desserts were amazing (Super Sundaes). Well recommended!
o. s.
Had Lovely meal of fish and chips, used a voucher for buy one get one free to try it out and will definitely go back.
A.
Overpriced but decent fish and chips.
c. t.
The fish&chips was okay, giant portion with reasonable price. FYI: this place offers a student discount (for UK students)
T. D.
Very good fish, even better when they offer 1/2 price on eat out help out
M. H.
Good portion of fish and chips, however could not finish the desert due to sheer massive portion size!
J. C.
Brilliant good place to eat very clean and tidy
J. D.
Great tasting traditional fish & chips. I last came here 25yrs ago & just as good then as it is now.
A. H.
Great food, lovely fish and chips. Rediculously busy on Airborne though. Any other day, I'd definitely recommend it!
E. B.
We went here recently for a family day out.
The food was nice, and the children enjoyed it, but it was a little busy. Still, I would definitely go back.
E. B.
Worth the drive down to the coast. The fish and chips are always good, and even better now it's on Tastecard too!
D.
Fish was nice but sorry to say chips were not up to expectation and with the offer of a refill of chips after you finish your chips, a sad no more for me thanks, and I love my chips too.
J. B.
Fish and chips, just like when I was a child. Delicious. Took a take away, walked across the road, and ate on the beach looking at the pier. Cool!
L. C.
The restaurant was a little pricey for a chicken burger and chips but it was nice nonetheless. As far as I know the takeaway is cheaper so I'd go there over the restaurant.
E. M.
Staff were very helpful and understanding when I ordered a salad that I didn't realise had cheese on - should have more dairy-free options though!
E.
The fish n chip is just so so but the staffs are kind
G. M.
Great service, phenomenal food... the batter is light, the fish is gorgeous....and my wife loved the mushy peas!!!
C. L.
Great service and magnificent fish and chips 😊
S. Y.
Lovely fish and chips great service
N. E.

Great food and staff - battered jumbo sausages!
S. G.
Went to Harry Ramsdens recently and the Haddock was lovely, very quick and friendly service!
P. H.
As usual with Harry Ramsden's, excellent fish and chips. Prompt, friendly service so no complaints at all.
J. H.
It was ok but could have been a little better fish was a little wet very small amount of chips seemed like the end of batch.
L. W.
The food was awesome, but too fried.
However, the place was cozy and the staff was friendly.
m. b.
Delicious, well cooked fish and chips served by very pleasant and helpful staff.
S. M.
This place is amazing. I go here every time I visit brighton best fish and chips by a mile
C. H.
Good food, good service. Sat near the door so the draft was a bit cold. Happy to come again.
J. B.
Really slow service - not the same place it used to be unfortunately, want to visit again but luke warm food and over an hour wait will make it difficult (and the place was less than half full) , the situation was resolved by the duty manager.
M. D.
Good food and great service, handy for the Pier!
J. S.
Really nice food and the premises was clean. Staff were very friendly, chatty and which made service enjoyable.
H. H.
Very good fish and chips. I like to sit outside and look at the view of the pier if the weather is nice
B. C.
Great fish and chips and really good service. Clean establishment
s. b.
Fantastic service and excellent food Staff were very helpful and friendly 😀
