Isaac At Gloucester Place is the most delicious restaurant in Brighton.
A taster menu that is palatably divine. All food sourced within 20 miles of the restaurant for sustainable environmental planning.
It is cosy with only ten tables. So make sure you book early and often.
10/10 on the delicious scale of taste!

Best dining experience ever. Amazing staff, very friendly.
Alex who is a sommelier has a lot of knowledge about the wines they serve there.
Beautiful wines as well, very well paired with the food.
Extraordinary food, favours well balanced and mixed together. Definitely will be coming back

Delicious tasting menu with wine pairings. Small, quaint atmosphere. Fantastic selection of British wines and local ingredients. “Sussex on a plate”

The local philosophy for every single ingredient and for the wine selection, the staff always full of energy and super friendly, the atmosphere super relaxed even if the standard is high, really make this place special. Kitchen table highly recommended.

The good: the people running the restaurant are clearly very passionate, nice atmosphere and some really excellent British wines.
The bad: I really appreciate a restaurant that takes culinary risks, and I guess sometimes when you take big swings you can get some big misses.
We weren't lucky with the food unfortunately, the amuse bouche was lettuce flavoured water with bacon fat floating on it, I won't pick it apart further but at £125 a head with wine I expected to have my socks blown off but the stayed firmly on my feet.

A truly enlightening culinary experience. Who knew that parsnip could be such a delicious desert?
A. D.
Amazing food a very reasonable fine dining tasking menu of delights. At times the dishes hit the heights of how did they put those flavours in that? The Apple pie sorbet for one.
Along with this there is a wide variety of English wines and drinks carefully curated by the knowledgeable staff. Well worth a visit for an intimate evening.

Had a tasting menu meal. The food was excellent and unique, paired with fantastic English wines and ciders. Staff were fantastic, special mention to Connor H who was very welcoming all evening!
Q. J.
A good set menu for lunch, and a totally British focus for the wine! I love going local!

Wonderful meal, brilliantly described, and served with efficient hospitality.
The tasting menu will delight and enhance your knowledge of food and wine.
A real treat on a visit to Brighton

A unique dining experience, where the food, drink, service, atmosphere and the interaction with the team elevate the overall experience to more than the sum of its individual parts. I and my husband were warmly greeted by one of the team members and were seated by the pass, which is immediately by the entrance door. The strategic position of the pass provides a full view of the dynamic, chaotic-but-functional, quirky and utterly lovely team at work. After a small intro (amuse bouche) came in perfect pacing the dinner itself, a 5-course tasting menu + optional cheeses (which we ordered). There were highs - the plaice was sublime, the pear dessert was incredible. There were also slight misses - the beef jus was overseasoned, and the cut was quite tough (as a matter of fact, the mushroom-based veg replacement dish my hubby had was perfectly seasoned and overall a better preparation than the beef), and I think that the tomatoes used in the first course could have enjoyed one more month on the vine. We opted for the non-alcoholic pairing for the dinner, which was a very good decision. The sommelier explained perfectly about each of the "elixirs" served, and they matched perfectly with the dishes. The slight criticism on the food is negligible when the overall quality of the dinner is considered - and most of all, when taken in context of the overall wonderful experience we had at Isaac At. I have rarely seen such joy in a restaurant team, and this joy was certainly contagious. We left extremely happy, and we'll happily come back for more.

It's a lovely place managed by amazing and super young guys!!! We had a very nice dinner and a wine paring! I've been really impressed by the quality of the wines and food was super! The only thing I would suggest is to change some of the plates were chipped.

This place is fantastic - it is, I think, my favourite restaurant on the planet. Brilliant and imaginative menu, inspired wine pairing, a strong focus on locally sourced ingredients, very friendly and tremendously well-informed staff. I really couldn't ask for more, I honestly couldn't.
Bowled over by the notion that the menu changes every few weeks, too.
I've just been for my second visit and having had such an overwhelmingly amazing experience last time I was worried that I might have built it up in my imagination too much and that it wouldn't live up to my recollection. Not so - in fact if anything it was even better. So good I literally found myself sitting there bursting into involuntary laughter every now and again it was such a joy.
We had the tasting menu with paired wines, seated at "the table by the pass", two seats up at a bar by the kitchen - which meant we not only could see the fascinating food preparation but also got to speak with the chefs, which enhanced the experience further still.
This amazing place deserves at least one Michelin star if not more, but it's clearly not on their radar yet and for the moment it seems to be comparatively unheard of: so if you're eating out in Brighton get a table there while it's still not too hard to get a reservation!
T. T.
A gastronomic experience like no other. The tasting menu and alcohol companions will cost you £95 pounds, and that's without a coffee or a tip, and you won't be full up afterwards. They do offer a reduced set menu, and you don't have to get the alcohol, so you could eat for as little as £30. But let's face it, that's not why you come to a place like this. You come for the tasting menu, and the taste is incredible.
P. B.
Great presentation. Very overpriced and bland in comparison to other local fine dining experiences. The explanation of the dishes at times we couldn't hear a word the young sous chef was saying. Avoid the non alcoholic drinks pairing just buy sn Apple or Apple and Elderflower juice if that's your taste as they just serve that in different glasses for £25... disappointed overall. They also don't get vegan food at all yet. No protein was served throughout the vegan tasting menu and my friends left hungry. Try The Set if you want better flavours and execution - a lot cheaper in comparison.
R. J.
Absolutely enjoyed the dining experience!!! The food was amazing and so beautifully presented. The wine was perfect! The staff was lovely ... talked us through the food and wine. It’s a 5star with no doubt!
N. F.
What an interesting restaurant, it was a unique experience. The staff are incredibly charming and very helpful. The food is superb, every dish is an amazing blend of flavours and presented perfectly. Virtually everything is locally sourced and you can taste the difference. I gave it sadly only four stars, losing one just for the cost and the lack of ambience. There is so much thats great about the restaurant just falls down in the price to experience ratio. Don't let this put you off, definitely worth visiting and your taste buds will love you for ever.

Absolutely delicious food, lovely service, and a great atmosphere. Went for dinner.... Get the wine pairings!! It's a real Brighton foodie experience.

I went last Friday to have the tasting menu. What an experience - the staff was great, really friendly and did a fantastic job of explaining the food. The food itself was really well conceived, Pork 1 being my particular favorite. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and equally loved her food - it wasn't the kind of place that throws together a veggie option was an afterthought. Looking at some of the other comments, it did take two hours, but that makes perfect sense because it's a tasting menu. They cultivated an experience and anyone who thinks it takes too long should go too mcdonalds. Everyone was clearly passionate about your work which you love to see, and the emphasis on local ingredients was really impressive. I would give more stars if I could and strongly recommend Isaac At to anyone looking for a wonderful culinary experience.
N. T.
Arguably the best restaurant in Brighton. A Michelin-star quality restaurant with an extremely bright, personable, young, and enthusiastic team: Alexander (the sommelier) and George (the head chef) were superb, engaging and unpretentious, even though their 'farm-to-table' dishes are upscale and refined. I would recommend to any foodie who wants to experience the tastes of Sussex/Brighton. And as an aside, we did not experience any of the negatives of other reviewers (i.e., there was no long wait between courses; and the food was not underwhelming, at least in our opinion). I can highly recommend the whisky and the wine in the photo, as well as the wine pairings with the tasting menu.
P. C.
Fantastic tasting menu .. quality meal after 15 months lockdown .. thoroughly recommended
C. M.
We loved this place. Tiny, with incredibly young staff - aged 16-27 - and producing delicious and beautifully presented food. It was a real experience and a lovely one. The plaice in seaweed sauce and sour gummi bear ‘outro’ were particular delights, as was the all-English wine list. The staff are down to earth, and the place appears to give a chance to local and locally trained young people ( all of whom were friendly, talented and knowledgeable) - an ethos I like. It isn’t cheap, but for a special occasion it’s a wonderful experience

Best meal I've had in ages in relaxed setting with excellent friendly service. Highly recommended
D. P.
Lovely food, brilliant service, dietary requirements handled with absolutely no fuss. Plus we always discover the best local wines here. Loxwood Mead and Biddenden Cider Wine are amazing!
r. M.
Fantastic food, wine pairing is surprisingly good considering they are all locally sourced. Enjoyed it so much i went back 2 weeks later for a second trip

Visited with my wife & Son, for his 23rd birthday!
Great experience from start to finish.
Had 7 course tasting menu, sublime, with fresh locally sourced ingredients. The team were also knowledgeable and friendly.
Well done all !
H. B.
Service here is always so friendly and the staff are knowledgeable about the drinks and food. We've opted for the tasting menu and accompanying wine flight both times and have been pleasantly surprised at the style and taste of the food. Some of the dishes and wine will surprise - but that's great! Who wants to have the expected? Love that this place is in Brighton. Long may it stay, championing local and UK produce. Great job guys ☺
A. W.
The food here is amazing, each dish flowed nicely into the next. Easily one of the best tasting menus I've had in a long time. The non alcoholic drinks pairing was particularly good, with some interesting flavours that complimented the respective dishes perfectly. The staff were also brilliant, very knowledgeable and attentive. Highly recommended.

I felt privileged to enjoy dinner out at Isaac At’s 2021 re-opening night. As ever, the food was amazing (they surpassed themselves tonight with the plaice, the strawberry meringue and the jelly baby dessert, to name but a few), the service so welcoming, the kitchen team - wow, watching them work at the pass is a great experience - and the genuinely warm ambience is something to behold. Isaac At is a real treasure of Brighton. Thank you for an immense evening!

Finally got to eat here and it did not disappoint in any way. Food was amazing, and so was the service.

Delicious and imaginative menu. Some charm but not stunning atmosphere.

Not sure what to make of this restaurant.. classed as fine dining..food was great .. portions were a little small .
Limited drinks menu .... no jack daniels or coke a cola .
The place it self from the outside looked like a cafe...inside is not the standard I expected for a fine dining restaurant ... but the food was good.
Will go there again when the menu is changes with the season

After having so many people share how amazing their experiences were here I was slightly underwhelmed. The lamb included in our fixed menu was by far the best dish and the bread/butter was yummy but the other options where maybe for a more refine pallet. The sorbet for dessert was yummy and the amount of wine you get in the pairing was vast! Overall it's a nice evening out but a tad pricey I feel. Also the whole meal took much longer than expected, 3 hours start to finish WOW!
A. A.
Just had a fantastic 3-course set lunch at the restaurant. Food was delicious and beautifully presented - the service was perfect : an ideal mix of friendly and professional. Thanks very much for having us.
O. M.
Beautiful food and incredibly attentive staff. Were able to provide all ingredients in the dishes to help with the worries of my partner’s dietary requirements, we were also able to enjoy very similar dishes with only minor changes to cater to her, something we have not been able to do in months. Staff answered all questions we had about the alcoholic drinks and provided good conversation with us when appropriate, plus they never came over when we had a mouthful of food or were in the middle of a discussion. Definitely recommend going and if you can go when it’s quiet then even better, felt like a private dining experience

We had an excellent meal at Isaac At. Solid COVID precaution measures that didn't taint our dining experience.
Great team - Exceptional food - Superb wines.
I am sure it won't be long till I'm back again!

We had our dinner meal here last night and it was absolutely fantastic - wonderfully relaxed, you eat what you are given, several courses of incredible locally sourced food all matched with delicious local wines; which just raises everything up t the heavens - it was phenomenal.
K. A. J.
Good food and very good service.
It's great that someone dares to try an all English wine menu, but English wine not something I will be bringing home anytime soon.
Acoustics could be better, I had difficulties hearing the food presentation.
A. F.
Six of us booked the taster menu and wine flight and had a fantastic time. Not only was the food delicious, they also dealt with three different dietary requirements (vegan, pescetarian, nut allergy) with no fuss. Majority of ingredients are locally sourced. Excellent service and relaxed atmosphere. Thoroughly recommended.
B.
Just had the most fantastic meal. We were there to celebrate my mums birthday and it was the perfect choice! Myself and my mum are wannabe foodies so it was right up our street. Everything was served with such enthusiasm and pride. Each course bought something new and exciting. My only negative was the lavender ice cream... I was not a fan... However this is just personal taste. It was great to be able to talk with the chefs about how the dishes were created and loved the fact a good amount the produce was local! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anybody! Thank you to all at Isaac At.
B. G.
What a wonderful way to spend 4 hours eating delicious and original food. Really enjoyed our visit last night. The staff were all really lovely and clearly enjoyed their jobs. I got the alcohol pairing and it all worked so well with the food; like nothing I have ever tasted before. Incredible to experience the very best of local ingredients and wines. Highly recommend this place
G. H.
Really enjoyed the meal and wines we had. The staff are so knowledgeable and courteous. Food was just brilliant. Only issue we had was the table from hell near us that kind of made us and the other 3 tables also feel uncomfortable. 5 stars all the way!! Thank you!!
E. O.
Considering the restaurant is placing itself at the top end of Brighton prices it really was a bit of a let down. I almost knew it was all over when they bought us the first dish, or amuse bouche which was a " mushroom tea " basically a murky broth with a bit of thyme in it. Extremely underwhelming. Next up was (barely)fermented red cabbage with crispy bacon, nothing wrong with it but could have done with a couple of scallops on it for the price your paying. Then came the chicken liver parfait which was probably the best dish of the evening although I would have preferred it not straight out the fridge.
Three different types of brassica were served next with a sort of marmite glaze, again was ok but not really a stand alone dish.
At this point we started to panic, the portions are very small and we started talking about getting a grubs burger on the way home.
The beef came next and yes it was cooked perfectly and the sauce was nice but its served with a spoonfull of mash and a few slices of shallots. Hardly innovative or indeed filling. After I had finished the main, the waiter bought over a loaf of bread. Strange. I asked if it was for the cheese board that was to follow, no, I was told it was to go with the main course that we had just polished off. Well at least it filled us up. I had previously informed them that my partner ate fish but not meat, but unfortunately there was no fish course at all which was a bit disappointing. The cheese was nice and the pudding (apple crumble) was nicely done. The wine pairing was interesting although I wasn't that keen on the red from Kent. I like their keep it local concept and the food miles are all printed on the back of the menu, I think it's got potential and none of the dishes were terrible but I feel it just lacks that extra special feeling.

Best meal we've ever had out in Brighton. Amazing food, amazing wine pairing, lovely friendly and knowledgeable staff
P. J.
Love this place. Excellent food and paired wines. Service was friendly and attentive without being too full on. Quite like being able to watch the food being prepared on the tvs too. Only dropped a star because the seats aren’t very comfortable (although they are quite cool) so didn’t completely relax.
A. S.
I got the feeling they are punching a little above their weight class. Love the idea, would habe expected a little more inventive dishes and variety. At least one portion should have been a little more substantial than it was - I came hungry and could have handled a little more than the tasting menu had.
Wine pairings were great, staff attentiveness was ok (but memorized rather than real knowledge when asked more detailed questions).
T. B.
Wonderful culinary experience, in a simple, nice setting.
B. S.
If I could give it six stars, I would. For me it is the best place to eat out in Brighton. Have been to this restaurant several times and it was never disappointing.
S. B.
The food was very tasty but the wait between plates was at one point 40 mins. We ended up eating until past 11pm which wasn’t ideal.
Also we were offered drinks at the start but not made aware we would be charged (quite) a sum for them. We felt that they could have maybe wavered the drinks for the fact that the food took so long? Or made us aware that the one drink we had wouldn’t be included in what we paid? We asked for the bill before we finished the meal. A shame as the actual food was good but I couldn’t enjoy the experience.
J. C.
Fish dish was nice. Aparagus starter was a bit bland and lamb main was okay. However, when stated for dietary requirement one of our party doesn't eat meat, but seafood is okay, and seating staff said it should be fine to replace with a seafood dish, yet, lamb dish was replaced with a carrot dish, this is quite a let down. Especially as I had emailed the night before stating the dietary requirement. Friend was polite and said it was fine, but for me taking friends out for lunch and everyone else is eating lamb and she has a carrot as a replacement course, that's really embarrassing for me. On the other hand, I'll still rate a 3 stars as waiting staff was generally very polite and friendly.
T. E.
A really excellent restaurant. We had the tasting menu with the paired wine (& cider) the staff were welcoming and friendly and the whole experience was really special. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family & wish them the very best of luck for the future.
R. J.
Really well thought out menu. So much effort goes in to explaining each dish and the paired wine and its origins. Open kitchen adds to the experience. Perfect presentation on every dish. Great experience and thoroughly recommended.

What a phenomenal experience, loved everything about Isaac At. Staff were lovely, I had the vege tasting menu and it was delicious. Highly recommend this place
V. M.
Very lovely food! I personally have been twice because of the menu change every week. I would go constantly if I wasn't working!
The menu comes from all around Sussex (even drinks) which make it very original, also with the menu it shows the mileage of where it has come from!
If you want a fine dining expiriance in Brighton (with a touch of Sussex), this is the place for you!
C. E.
Exquisite food, great atmosphere. With lots of small dishes the pace of the meal was lovely - over 3 hours at the table without ever feeling like we were waiting. Really love the local sourcing ethos as well.
M. S.
This place is a journey... an experience that it's definitely worth doing.
If you'll let them work for you, the staff of this little restaurant will guide you throughout a path of taste and pleasure.
Of course there will be something that you'll like most, but everything will be simply good.
Sit down, wait, relax, taste and enjoy. Let the food comfort you.

A dining experience! Beautifully creative dishes and definitely worth adding excellent wine pairing.

Came to Isaac At for my partner's birthday and it was amazing. Friendly, professional staff, excellent wine matching, but the highlight was still the food. I would happily recommend here to anyone.
G. C.
I ate at Isaac at last night. The food was carefully thought out, with a clear objective and a strong theme which is delivered at enormous effort from Isaac and his team. The effort is being put in here, the vision is clear and the quality very high. Top work. Eat here if you like food......
Y. G.
Intimate concept restaurant which serves a 6 course £45 tasting menu, with all British sourced ingredients, listed by distance in food miles. Creative, interesting and occasionally delicious dishes, perhaps limited by the dedication to local produce (eg. the Gin & Elderberry was not up to a classic G&T)
C. G.
If you love new taste sensations and fancy something a little different then this is the place for you. I took my girlfriend and sister to Isaac at and we all thoroughly enjoyed it, the atmosphere was relaxed, the food was exceptional and the service top notch. A memorable experience. Thankyou
G. T.
Wonderful experience, came here with some work friends looking for a fine dining restaurant in Brighton and we weren't disappointed. Highlight for me was the rhubarb dessert which was meant to be like a crumble. And the all British drinks menu really stood out for me, would definitely recommend the Pinot noir! We will be back soon!
R. S.
Great place. All local ingredients. Fair prices. Excellent wines. One of the top places in Brighton, in my opinion. Will certainly return.

Lovely meal and wonderful service.

Great presentation and concept. Was expecting great things which sadly fell flat at the main which was under seasoned, uninspiring and bland. Was hoping for a 5* could have gone for 2* , let's be kind and give it 3*.

If I have any advice for this restaurant it's to dial it back just one notch. And I am not talking about the food.
The food was very very good. That's not up for discussion. However when your paying top notch prices you are looking for the X factor, the warmth, welcoming atmosphere, the care and attention that warrants a 'big' bill.
Isaacs at didn't have those things.
I don't appreciate having my food delivered to a magnetic timer on the wall, nor being given a second menu "so you can see the prices" or to have a mignardise that should be savoured and enjoyed (it should be a talking point, a wow) at the same time as a bill plonked in front of me. I did appreciate the young male chef tho, he came across as a decent bloke ("that's the bill, you can't eat that" when he picked up on my reaction).
This needs to drop the ego one notch and up the smiles, warmth and openness. Then, and not before, they'll have a good restaurant.
This is three stars because everyone raves about it but it's not that special. Yet.
