Reviews of JBs American Diner
C. L.
From the get go the staff were lovely, polite and interacted with us. Food was fab, and well worth the money. Canned drinks a little on the expensive side £3 odd for a normal 330ml can and toilets could do with a kick of paint and upgrade. Other than that, a very enjoyable experience.
B. R.
I came here for the breakfast, unfortunately it's only served between 10am-11.45am so I'll need to get here earlier next time.
What I did have though was good quality though I felt the chicken wings could've been better.
4/12/21 - Finally tried the US breakfast and I guess its not for me. The quality was great though.
C. T.
Great food and I absolutely loved the decor. The milkshakes put the cherry on top with tons of delicious flavor options.

What a find!!! An American themed diner with decor and paraphernalia to match. They have taken effort to make the place resemble a diner starting with the red and yellow upholstery and the various Knick-knacks. The food was good - decent sized portions. The burger was well done and served with a generous portion of flavoured chips.
T. J.
Great food - the portions were HUGE and believe me I have a big appetite! Great atmosphere with 50's music playing and old Tom and Jerry cartoons on the many TV screens to keep the kids entertained. Great friendly service and the best milk shakes I've had for a while... 😁👍
E. H.
Great 'vegan' hot dog although I added normal cheese because veggie.
Texture and taste were pretty close to a real hot dog. Portion sizes were large so struggled to finish. Also had the biggest onion rings I have ever seen!
A. W.
Great atmosphere..... Average food. The veggie burger was absolutely 'fine', the chips were tasty but not that numerous and the coleslaw was tiny for the extra cost. Good service, lovely people.
E. C.
Absolutely loved it here! Brilliant atmosphere, lovely friendly staff and excellent food! Highly recommend!
T. W.
A great breakfast to be had. The boys had American with Milkshakes and it kept them quiet for a while. I had the English and was all very tasty. Best I had for a long time.
G. M.
Sadly this place didn’t live up to it’s reputation. I loved the kitchen Americana decor, but my pancakes were dry and heavy. They just didn’t taste freshly made. I might give it another go sometime. Maybe it was an off-day.
R. S.
Loved it. Just a cool American style restaurant with great food and music. 10/10 highly recommended.
L. M.
Brilliant place and friendly staff. Welcomed you as soon you entered the building.
It's decorated in true American'50's style. Love it. The old rock and roll tunes on too. Fabulous!!
A fantastic menu with mouthwatering foods.
Generous portions and all really filling.
Cocktails were good too.
Prices were reasonable and we did make two visits to this diner.
One for tea and one for breakfast as was so good!!
We had the satisfryer burger for tea...and the American breakfast for brekkie.
Great little find on the seafront.
T. K.
While visiting Brighton we really wanted something sweet out eye was cought by this place and we really like the atmosphere, service and of course milkshakes and pancakes.
Be aware portions are massive 😀

This is a super awesome American Style restaurant on the Brighton Seafront. The food was amazing, the staff were super friendly, and the decor and music were so cool. We felt like were in the 'Grease' movie here. Even the toilets were decorated highly sticking to the cool rock n roll type theme. One of my favourite places of all time, we'll coming back here tomorrow before we leave to return to London. Highly recommended!!!
B. B.
Food and service was amazing, very enjoyable. Themeing is on point. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Z. S.
We walked in before 12 especially for breakfast and were told breakfast was no longer served. We looked in the menu we find out breakfast is served until 12. After speaking to waiter and pointing it out we could finally order our breakfast.
Apart from that everything 10/10- lovely place, lovely food, lovely waitress and lovely staff.
If you are in Brighton and looking for amazing delicious breakfast you have to visit!!! Can't believe we nearly missed out this goodness on a plate!
J. B.
Fantastic diner, really authentic vibe and same with the portions, very US like!!
Maple syrup pancakes were fantastic and the bottomless filter coffee so good.
My daughter had the veggie breakfast and I did have slight food envy but not for long 😁
Highly recommend for breakfast, must come back and try the burgers!
L. B.
Brilliant take on a 50s/60s American diner with great music the food portions are huge! The food was really good and the milkshakes are the best I've ever had service was speedy and the staff were very friendly and attentive the only thing that let it down was the state of the toilets as soon as you open the door the stench was awful the toilet itself was filthy and didn't flush properly and for reasons unknown the hand dryer was fitted halfway up the wall so as you try and dry your hands the water runs down your arms and there was a pool of water in the bottom of the dryer that would blow over you - such a shame that this area lets down what would be a fun and great place to eat
m. m.
Great service! Attentive, good quality food. Just a tad overpriced for a burger/diner joint.
J. W.
Lovely restaurant with the true American climate! Food is sooo tasty and portions are really big! Service is professional and friendly. You must to visit this place!

A trip to Brighton is not complete without a visit to Jb's American Diner. We have visited this restaurant every time we stay over in Brighton, as you can see it's worth a visit. We prebooked as it was May half term and Brighton was busy. We also stopped buy for a few drinks whilst walking around, the milkshakes are definitely recommended, the girls love them. We wanted to come back one evening for dinner but unfortunately they were fully booked, maybe next time.
G. W.
After about 5 min waiting to be seated with only 2 staff on and a nearly empty restaurant we were seated. The place look great . After looking at the menu we ordered the surf and turf and a burger. After receiving our food and noticed I was sent the wrong food. Not impressed as when spoke to waitress she said I ordered the mixed grill so I explained I ordered surf and turf. I argeed to eat the food I got as didn't have time to wait if she adjusted the bill. Food was very good but portions were not great, as I had heard portions were out of this world. Found price to be a bit expensive for the portions you got. Also trying to get waitress attention when we wanted to order more drinks took awhile as they seemed more interested in talking with each other.
T. P.
I used ro love this place, but this prices, for that those are just ridiculous.
£31 for 2 burgers and tap water... (because they charge £4 for a can of coke).
Besides, all this after 30 minutes of waiting, but hey, that's not the problem.
Too standard quality and small portions for such an outrageous price.
N.
Great service, exceptional food, at a reasonable price, and the atmosphere was spot on too. This was one of the best meals out I’ve had in a long time. Give this place a try you won’t be disappointed
E. A.
Amazing food and staff. Stunning inside and a brilliant menu with everything you could want from a diner.
J.
Nice feel to the place, loved the decor. Was a little pricey and they made the point very clear that service charge wasn't included. Food was good. Happily return.
T. F.
Went for breakfast for both morning's of our stay. Indulged in pancakes the first time then went a little healthier with the avocado on the second occasion. Both were delicious and served with a warm and friendly smile :-)
K. M.
The place does look like an American, town diner. The menu has a good choice and everything looks reaaaally good. We onky went to get milkshakes and the choice of these was overwhelming. Milkshakes were the best we've had. The flavour was there from beggining to end. We got it in glasses and we got extra "leftovers" in metal mixing glasses. Our little girl had vanilla icecream which also was delicious. The staff were amazing. Really caring, 5* experience. I can't recommend this place enough.
J. B.
What can I say!! This place is totally awesome.. From the moment we walked in, we encountered friendly service and classic anerican dinner atmosphere. The food was great, with we had such a choice in homemade milkshakes, it took us sometime to choose,... we finally settled by picking the banana and the oreo ones! Both out of this 🌎 world. The even has A&W & Mountain Dew that brought back childhood memories.
Thank you all. Top marks 👌
D. B.
Absolutely no complaints whatsoever! We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and the portions were very generous and the staff was friendly!
P. M.
Actually close the Dinners on the west coast. Good selection of food, lots of American objet d'art / paraphernalia and 1950’s music - Also good fun had and friendly helpful staff
V. Z.
It is definitely my coming back every time I'm in Brighton. They have great food and waiting staff. The whole restaurant is very authentic. You will feel like you're in America.
L. C.
Always wanted to try and American diner. So happy with this one! The staff are lovely, friendly. The food was amazing! Already looking forward to my next visit :) xx
M. T.
Well styled out as an American diner with probably the best milkshakes in Brighton. Nice kids menu and good range on main menu. Staff were welcoming and provided a good level of service. Prices were good too.
L. S.
Omg, this place its for Elvis or rock and roll lovers. The interior design its pure American style, nice colorful place. The food was good, little bit oily and cooked, but not something to not like. Also the milkshake was a crazy thing, you can choose also with alcohol on it. Also we loved the music and overall atmosphere. Nice staff.
N. V.
Food was nice. However staff were not great they would be standing all by the bar area. We was waiting for service. We would have ordered more but we got fed up of waiting for the waitresses to acknowledge us we asked for the bill.
S. B.
This is a fantastic place. Very warm and and inviting. Very polite and kind staff. Portion size is very generous. We ordered a Brownie Milkshake. That's was such a big portion, it was enough for 2 people. Not too expensive so easy on pocket.. Totally recommended...
E. H.
Had breakfast here a couple if times last weekend when my husband and I were in Brighton. The food was yummy and very fresh. I knocked it down 1 star because it's sometimes a bit hard getting someone's eye for a coffee refill or the bill and 1 star because one of the mornings we ordered 2 American breakfasts but only one showed up. My husband had practically finished his when mine finally arrived.
C. E.
Loved it! The decor is simply fabulous - proper American style diner with all the oldies playing on the stereo, and old cartoons playing on the telly's. The food was excellent...I highly recommend the chilli dog - beware though, it is a massive portion! And the milkshakes are also top notch delicious and again I got a massive portion 😍
D. K.
Quite interesting place, found in a walking distance from train station as well as close to the beach and Pier for relaxing or having fun. Vast burger and hot dog menu complemented with 'regular' food as well. Superb selection of milkshakes along with classic soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. Staff friendly and polite, food portions very good. Nice american feel with pictures, posters, t-shirts and other stuff all around the place (toilets as well!) making very unique experience. Seeing Tom&Jerry was absolutely worth the visit! Recommend
d. m.
If you are looking for an authentic type American Diner, this will not disappoint. American decor, range of authentic drinks such as floats, ice teas and Milkshakes. Good choice of American food, I would reccomend the Chicken Wings, Corn Dogs and Mozzarella Sticks for starters. For main we had the Lynchburg burger which features their JD sauce and it was great. Good portion sizes and attentive staff. Couldn't ask for any more.
V. L.
Fun, family friendly burgers and ribs (veggie options available)
Waiting staff were pleasant and efficient and food was a good standard, perhaps slightly overpriced but the restaurant is on the foreshore. Lots of rockabilly, sporting and general ‘50’s & 60’s memorabilia to browse at while waiting for your meal.
The milkshakes are delicious and all serving sizes were ample.
S.
Great location, very good food (I suggest berry pancakes).
However the portions are quite large.
And last but not least, this diner looks so much like Pop's (Riverdale fans will understand me).
P.
Amazing restaurant. The premium shakes were delicious. Haven't tried their food. The decorations are awesome and they also sell some nostalgic art merchandise: post cards, mints etc. The music is nice. Overall, we had a great experience here and I can't wait to come back.
M. A.
We went as a family of 5. Great service. Lots of food. The shakes are large and have great flavours. I was distracted by the Tom & Jerry cartoons playing on the tvs.
My burger was nice but was topped with avacado. This isn't a problem in itself, its what I ordered. But a straight half, not sliced, mashed or otherwise rendered compatible with a burger to make it edible 😂. But then life does like to throw us the occasional challenge. Nailed it.
L. F.
The diner was amazing and everyone had a great time. I found my burger to be a little too greasy for my taste but the onion rings, fries and deep fried pickles were amazing!!
R. F.
Great decor, great location. Staff very rushed which affected quality of service. Good selection of food. The burger tasted ok and the milkshakes were excellent but the food was presented poorly as you can see and the fries are a real let down as were the frickels and other bits we had. Come on JB's, what about quality home made skin on seasoned USA fries?!
S. T.
A truly great meal out. The burger was tasty and very meaty. The chips were just okay but entirely made up for but the hard milkshakes and floats! As a lover of root beer and floats, I was very happy with my meal. A tad pricey though.
J. R.
Really authentic americania. Absolutely loved the decor and the burger was pretty good too. Service was good and just a great time.
P. C.
Best onion rings ever!!! Also amazing burgers and cocktails - fancy, smooth as heaven. Me and my mate, we've been there in one of the hottest weekend 2017 and was amazing. Atmosphere inside, like from old 50's movies. Rockabilly on the place.
K. G.
Went for breakfast again. Great food and great experience as always. Nice, big portions, quick service. Will be coming back for sure to try the rest of the menu.
C. W.
Absolutely superb American diner all kitted out with memorabilia and token American decorations. Food is reasonably priced especially when you consider you're in central Brighton. American Breakfast is £7.65 if I remember rightly. If you're hungry go for one of the milkshakes.. the peanut one is very good! Will be back.
M. S.
Great food, good service and amazing food, there is a lot of food choice and you can easily spend 20 minutes reading all the wall posters, t-shirts pinned to the walls. Lots of American pancakes, icecream sundae's and drinks. Definitely a place you should visit as you walk the promenade. Been here three or four times over the last few years and will keep coming back.
C. G. (.
I've been going to jb's for about 10 years and never had a bad meal or experience. Great place, staff and food. The milkshakes are amazing with huge portions.
D. H.
Excellent service and a great atmosphere. Amazing food and great portions. We look forward to returning.
C. W.
Restaurant had a good atmosphere and feel on arrival. Menu had plenty of choice but was a bit expensive but do not mine paying extra for guality. Draught budweiser good start. Milk shake sensational. Burger with cheese average and semi warm. Fries did not look appetising overcooked and crunchy. Although service was good did not leave tip because left feeling disappointed after all the good reviews Sorry guys been to better American diners
S. R.
Probably the largest burger I've ever had and the milkshake was a meal in itself.
Will definitely be visiting again.
M. C.
Great place, can pop in for a quick cuppa coffee, or a full meal. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time for it to be made fresh. Staff were really helpful and freindly!
C. F.
Lovely food and friendly staff. Went at the end of the lunch rush and the staff managed to get us a booth after originally being shown a table due to busyness. Took a little longer to catch a waiter nearing the end of our meal as things were quietening down.
D. G.
Awesome food here can't wait to come back. The burgers and songs are awesome, look forward to visiting again. Also the team were great.
A. S.
Milkshake was unbelievable, biggest onion rings I've ever seen. The burger was ok & my wife enjoyed the chicken burger, overall lovely themed place & worth the visit just for the milkshakes.
S. B.
Very expensive (£17.70 for a burger and Milkshake) but it's the experience that you're also paying for. Definitely worth it, will be coming again!
R. C.
I desperately want to like this place, I love an American diner, the red booths, the neon... love it, and the staff are delightful! The veggie breakfast however, has problems. Almost raw eggs leave me alarmed and the potatoes are barely cooked through and have an unpleasant bite. And why is there salad on my plate? It's breakfast and it simply doesn't work - the odd mouthful of French dressing is jarring. Messy concept, badly cooked. Love the place though.
S. M.
Loved it , great atmosphere , good themed restaurant, food was nice , staff were friendly
t. t.
The food was ok, service was ok-ish, we were 6, ordered pretty straight forward mains with a drink, the waitress was writing the orders down and still messed mine up (it wasn't as straightforward as the rest - a plain burger without sauce; it came with a lot of some yellow funny looking sauce). I didn't complain as it was full and there was no point as we were going to be late.
The 3 stars go mainly for the decoration which was impeccable.
P. H.
Real 50/60s American diner atmosphere. Clean, distanced, friendly staff able to help with menus. Great choice of Big Burgers, all the trimmings, sides and quality fries - all very reasonable. Good selection of hot/ cold drinks, but we went for surprisingly good, well made cocktails! 👌 great start to a great evening. Will definitely be back!!
J.
Atmosphere is authentic. Milkshakes were very good indeed. Burger was adequate. Pancakes, unfortunately, were a complete miss.
Recommend using plain white flour, actual buttermilk, eggs, baking powder, salt. No need for any exotic recipe here.
J. T.
Great decor, great food, great shakes 👌🏻
N. M.
Good American style dinner. Doesn't look much from the outside, but inside its well styled with a 60's dinner theme, with lots of American memorabilia. Has a good menu, with a great range of burgers. Loads of beverages to choose from, with a large list of great shakes and floats.
p. s.
absolutely perfect burgers and dogs for all our party... including an unusual vegetarian option... l had genuinely one of the best burgers I have ever eaten...
k. p.
The milkshakes are amazing 👏 but everything else was very average. The burgers, the starters and the service not bad but just average. It would be nice to get bottles of sauce and a proper steak knife so the burgers could be cut easier. Also when the food arrived it wasn't hot it was just warm :s. Again just a very average restaurant.
K. H.
First of all, I just want to say, I heavily recommend this place if you are visiting or staying in Brighton!
JB's Diner is an American themed restaurant, serving American styled dishes such as chicken/cheese burgers, hotdogs, large milkshakes, you name it! Be sure to book ahead!
The general aesthetic of the place is very American themed, lots of memorabilia everywhere and "tacky" objects, such as posters, t-shirts, neon lit signs and large monuments! The tables are separated from each other due to Corona virus circumstances, however you don't feel alienated while sitting down as you have front view of the bar making drinks and food.
The staff here are very receptive and friendly and will cater to any needs, such as allergies, changing menu items and simple questions about the diner. The wait for the food isn't very long, I'd say average 20 minutes for a full plate of good cooked food.
The food here is outstandingly amazing. The price is a little expensive, two meals and a milkshake will set you back roughly £30, however for the experience, it's very worth it. The portions of chips and other side's are quite large and will honestly fill you up before you start eating your main course.
The restaurant is very adaptive in regards to Corona virus, separating the booths and walkways so that there is always a 2 meter gap between everything. As you walk into the building, there is hand sanitizer which isn't watered down or cheap quality. The one thing that I didn't like is that the staff aren't wearing masks.
Overall, I rate this restaurant a 5/5 and I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone.
Thank you,
Kyle

Best Milkshake in the country! I always have the banana one every time I visit Brighton, great American retro diner.
L. O.
Cool American diner. Good food and not too expensive. The place seemed a bit understaffed when we were there, so we had to wait quite a bit before our food arrived.
e. R.
Great cool place to check out in Brighton tasty food and the best milkshakes around and also friendly staff very clean restaurant and lots to look at so you won't get bored
T. A.
Always was and is still the best for shakes and burgers
L. P.
Amazing food, amazing service, well priced and a authentic American atmosphere......will visit everytime im in Brighton
S. D.
It is exactly what it says a faux American diner. The decor is of a 50/60's diner that makes you feel like you've stepped into the set of 'Grease'. The walls are adorned with Hollywood and Elvis and other American memorabilia that all adds to the experience.
The food is really good with a large selection of burgers, hotdogs and chicken to choose from. Vegetarians are also catered for with options all across the menu.
JB's is well known for its 'Shakes' of which there is also a large choice to choose from including alcholic versions.
The staff are really friendly and attentive. A firm family favourite, highly recommended.
M. P.
Firstly the milkshakes are amazing. Make sure you have lots of room in your belly for the meal you choose.
The onion rings are a sight to be seen. Food great.
Very friendly staff, patient and cheery.
Well worth a visit.
Will visit again.
A.
I read the reviews before coming here and it actually encouraged me to eat in
And now just finished my meal with a friend and the food was absolutely delicious and the quantity of food is amazing i finished with a full stomach and there's still salad and fries on my plate.
The service is wonderful and the atmosphere of this place is a blast
I would come here again a lot.
P. K.
Great place to visit if you’re in Brighton! Amazing milkshakes (May seem expensive, but definitely worth the price)!
A. Z.
How was JB's diner? Epic!
Friendly service. Nice varied choice, more than other local diners.
Food was delicious, hot and portion size was generous.
Highlights, milkshakes, toasted sandwiches and the sweet pickles. Delicious.
W.
Burgers so tall you can’t even bite into them. Warm tap water in a hot glass as drink. The milkshakes are good but everything else just go to Burger King and you’ll probably get the same thing for half the price.
Also, burnt nachos. Mmmh.
k. r.
this place is amazing! the milkshakes are just to die for!! we always go in here every time we visit Brighton!! We will definitely return it’s one of our favourite places!! ❤️
B. B.
Nice bunch great music and when we popped in another day, the waitress remembered our previous orders. Really impressive 👏
S. H.
Lovely food lovely atmosphere and lovely staff, we had a lovely meal
D. B.
It is one of the best American style restaurant .....with many decorations...very good location and the food was very taste for a affordable price.
D. H.
Had a lovely bit of breakfast here this morning
Staff really friendly and attentive
Pricing is fair for what you get as they are big portions
Would definitely recommend
J. P.
I love having any delicious food 😋 in JB's, awesome music to, I wish could perform as ETA Elvis Tribute Artist at JB's
I. L.
Close to waterfront and convenient location to many hotels. Diner was comfortable and clean. Food was freshly prepared and decent price. Staff was helpful even when the place was crowded. Would recommend for casual dining.
K. M.
Absolutely amazing service. Great tasting food, would love to go back.
K. C.
I have been here multiple times and the food has always been great, nothing changed with the food yesterday, it was great when it eventually arrived.
Our waiter wasn't even looking at us when he took our order, he was looking at what was going on behind him! So when our order arrived, after half an hour, it was wrong!
OK, it was busy but with seven staff and five of them just standing around chatting and really didn't mind what they were saying or who heard!!! I heard two members of staff slagging off one party who had a child with them and commented on the behaviour of of the child and lack of control of the child. Then, a couple left as they had waited far too long for their meal and again staff slagging them off saying "what did they want me to do? Apologise and beg them to stay?"!
I can understand everything the staff were saying BUT it should have been said in private! Not in ear shot of any customer!!! I'm guessing they slagged me off after we left as I didn't leave a tip! The only person that deserved a tip was the chef!!! I really couldn't bring myself to tip any member of staff that was on the restaurant floor. Bad management
M. L.
I loved it in here. The milkshake was amazing as well as the decor and the service. It truly is a great American diner. Definately worth a visit. Right opposite Brighton pier too.
N. M.
This place is always fantastic! I've been a few times and the service is always spot on and the food is superb. The best thing about this place is the milkshakes. You don't just get a small milkshake, you get a big sundae size one and the rest of it is in the old school metal shakers, you basically get 2 big milkshakes for the price of 1...and they can be alcoholic if you want. The talking point of this place though is the decor... you'll feel like you've walked into a real 1960's diner. Red booths, memorabilia everywhere...and if you're a 90's baby...Tom and Jerry playing on loop all over the place. You won't he disappointed here and the prices are very reasonable.
P. P.
Omg best place ever with all the memorabilia on the walls and ceiling and the food was heavenly and the milkshakes a diabetics nightmare but still lush
J. H.
Good quality fresh food.fast service. Everything was good and a reasonable price. Staff were friendly and accomodating. Would definitely go there again.
C. A.
Great service, great atmosphere and good food. I had a burger and fries which was above average. For dessert I had a banana split which was delicious, the ice cream was superb. Draft Bud completes the diner experience. Definitely recommend & I'll be back.
R. c. a.
You must book in advance otherwise you may be disappointed I was lucky enough to get a table again they are normally fully booked every time I go! food amazing milkshakes out of the world
If you are in Brighton and you want to go eat I recommend JBs to everyone
Ps what value for money fantastic! Can't wait to go again soon
L. G.
Amazing food and service.
Loved the decor/theme inside!
A. J.
Outstanding food! Anna was a fantastic host and deserves a pay rise!
M. B.
Fun experience for the kids, with good music and tasty food.
R. E.
Great American dinner. Friendly staff, good range of food, all good cooked to order. Good music playing. Tv’s playing Tom and Jerry.
N. J.
So much better than you think it is, I'd always put it down as a tourist trap but actually does a great range of burgers and drinks (shirley temple is awesome). Watch out for the appetisers, they're delicious but enormous!
T. E.
Interesting place. Hamburger was tasty and cheesy chips were lovely! Only thing is that waiter wasn't that patient, plus she forgot to bring our drinks.Would visit again to try something different.
A. C.
Delicious milkshakes, pancakes and full English. The staff were very friendly and the music was great!
A. L.
Best milkshake in Brighton. Food great value for money and delicious. Great music and atmosphere. Totally love it
R. D.
Very nice place we found in Brighton last night. Great burger, fries and tasty shake
R. W.
The tutti fruity pancakes are the best I've ever had. The portion sizes for everything are great
P. K.
The food was very good and pipping hot the atmosphere here was spectacular was like going back in time to the 1950's the staff here are friendly and helpful .... The menu is easy to read and order from... It's in a very central location and way to get to the decor is enough to keep you entertained whilst you wait for your food ... All in all I would recommend this restaurant to family and friends.
l. l.
Must have a milkshake when you visit. It can even be shared between 2 people.
Meals were lovely and had large portions, I asked for a take away box to put my leftovers in to take away.
However, the only downfall was the very slow service, we waited over 40 mins for our meals and 35 minutes for our milkshakes.
S. G.
Love this diner ..the staff are excellent very helpful and the meals are very filling and good value.
D. W.
Love this Diner with American theme, very special! Service was very good, waitresses were all cheerful with a smile, very polite and friendly. We had Bull dog, Hound dog and Pork dirty fries, they were all very tasty! Prices are reasonable and they don’t have any service charge, highly recommended and I don’t mind to come again.
E. R.
Service was exceptional and Staff were lovely. However, with our bacon and maple syrup pancakes we had three stacked pancakes but only two skinny rashers of bacon on the top which seemed fairly tight. The milkshakes on the other hand were huge and very generous.
S. C.
Fantastic meal and amazing milkshake I had the lucky charms milkshake and I could say go back again and again to have it again .. Food was great and staff were very nice and welcoming.. Very highly recommended
N. D.
I loved the place. The food was top class . The staff were very professional still welcoming. I went there with my husband to have a birthday dinner. The even helped me with a birthday dessert with candles and played the birthday song. I loved the place . Will be visiting soon again ❤️
J. L.
I always stop by this place when in Brighton; the milkshakes are perfection and the food is excellent as well as generously sized for the price. Get a milkshake on a sunny day; it's a piece of heaven.
A. “. A.
The staff were friendly & welcoming. We have eaten here many times and I remember the food being far better than it was today. The chips were so salty & far too much paprika. The burgers were just ok. Didn’t seem freshly cooked, the cheese had re-solidified, the caramelised onions were fridge cold & not caramelised. The onion rings were literally dripping with oil & the onion inside wasn’t cooked through. Just not what we’re used to at one of our favourite restaurants. The wait was also long which is fine except the restaurant was near empty. Such a shame.
B. S.
Really enjoyed the nutella pancakes, hubby expected a bigger portion for the way they worded the size of the pancakes but then we do spend our hols in the USA where pancakes are huge. Overall nice breakfast
P. A.
Really good burgers, milkshakes were great too was a bit quiet when we were there so not the best atmosphere but I would imagine on a Friday or Saturday evening it would be 'jumping'
A. A.
Nice place by the beach. I really loved their fat juicy burgers. And oh that natural pineapple juice was one of the best i had . Great music from 80's. True American Diner with slot machines as well
t. f.
Perfect food ! great service ! Very reasonable prices too
S. B.
Food here is excellent, make sure you're hungry cos the portions are big! I could've easily shared the pulled pork sandwich (ended up taking half home!)
Decor great and staff friendly, service from our waitress was good.
n. n.
Amazing place to eat delicious food and the staff are so friendly and helpful.
G. J.
Excellent experience here today!
Really helpful staff, great food and really clean, even the baby change was spotless!
Kids portion was really generous and delicious!
Only negative point is that the vegan options on the menu all have additional charges eg 50p extra for oatmilk milkshake, 30p extra for plant based milk in teas and coffees.
Otherwise brilliant.
L. M.
Lovely birthday meal
G. K.
Great place for burgers and shakes. Love the rock & roll music, they even sell American sweets from a vending machine by the entrance which the granddaughter loved.
J. L.
Just had the most lovely experience inside this diner reasonable priced cannot wait to come back there again in the future food is top quality deserves this five-star rating as I am a chef myself
L. H.
Great place to grab a meal. Placed opposite the beach, it has a very good menu. The kids meals were a good size,
and the chicken caesar salad was the best I've ever had. Well worth a visit.
J. H.
One ofvyge best sandwiches I've ever had. Nice bubbly staff.
K. P.
Fantastic food...pancakes cooked fresh and chicken burger great portion size. Lovely service from really friendly staff and waitress synthia. Being served by a waitress with a prominent American accent really complimented the diner theme. Would definitely recommend.
T. M.
Really friendly staff. Good portion sizes and prices. Just felt the food lacked flavour/seasoning.
T. M.
Food, drinks and service was amazing. I will be going back there for more 😁
R. P.
Got seated straight away. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere. The Breakfast was amazing. Beautiful view of the beach while sitting outside eating breakfast
A. C.
A good little place to grab some food. Obviously covid restrictions meant that it was outdoor seating only (not a fault of the diner at all) but that’s fine as the seating outside is plenty big enough and, on a nice day, the view is good as well.
The menu is varied enough that even a picky eater like myself can find something. The serving sizes are nice and large and the staff are friendly.
L. T.
Lovely place especially if you like 50's style and burgers
B. N.
Great staff, great food and great authentic diner vibe!
O. 2. B.
Really good place to eat. Fantastic American designed place, right opposite the Brighton beach. Weighted quite abit of time for our food but we had Tom & Jerry to keep us entertained 😊
C. L.
Visited here with a friend for breakfast. Food was ok and service the same. Restaurant was nicely laid out and had some good decor.
H. C.
Always a great experience here...classic diner food and happy service!!
G. M.
You have to book in advance now. Lots of social distancing and they have boards up between the tables which is really good. Food is relatively quick and the waiters were very attentive. Lots of choice of food and milkshakes.
Would definitely recommend visiting this place. The decor is very funky and interesting to look at (all American memorabilia).
S. O.
Great tasty food good portions , service great decor. Good choice
C. S.
Amazing portions for price!
We were very surprised when we ordered a milkshake you could share it for the same price!
Lovely food, good atmosphere and ambience.
K. V. Z.
The price you pay for the food is fair. Delicious. Staff friendly and attentive.
D. P.
If u are a family come here lots of fun service attentive portions more than adequate we were 12 people nobody complain about them food just my breaded prawns were untasted I'm quite sure they do frozen prawns cos they were also same size of baby prawns ones I opened the breadcrumb with the fork but meet its another story t bone excellent
S. J.
Food is great, staff are friendly. Only thing i didnt like but might be just me, felt more like a museum than an american diner
j. C.
We went for a meal here service was very quick and staff very helpful. The food was great had a vegan with me and options were plentiful for her. Food was delicious all round great meal
The restaurant was clean and fun to be at very old world
T. P.
Decent food. Good American vibe going on
B. M.
Great shakes, nice food and good service.
L. S.
A longtime favourite of mine. Packed to the brim with kitschy Americana memorabilia and TV screens showing muted reruns of Tom & Jerry, the menu offers no suprises - it's a classic diner - but is great at what it does. Steak, burgers and dogs are ample in size and flavour but the real jems of the place are the milkshakes: Thick, flavourful and very generous in portion size. Boy howdy 🤠
M. L.
3* are purely for the two ladies behind the bar in the pink shirts as our drinks were amazing, and the young lad in the green shirt for being a good host. If we only had drinks, it would have been 5*
The food... nothing about it was "american" we were served 1 very dry burger with a bunch that fell apart as soon as it was picked up, no sauce, no relish, in seasoned meat; frankly a disappointment to the trained chef that was eating it.
I had a hotdog, and although the meat being fine, the bun was partially stale but toasted to cover it up. The chips were misleading as I upgraded to cheesy, but was presented with a small handful of cheddar on top as opposed to cheese sauce, which is customary for "American".
The two other burgers we had were very underwhelming to the people eating them. One asked for regular onion instead of caramelised, and was given three whole slices of raw red onion which was way too much. The chicken burger was dry and flavourless, the bun was also stale.
Also the chefs were not wearing hats in the kitchen, every time the door swung open, we could see the chefs not obeying basic kitchen hygiene.
All in all, good for drinks, bad for food. If you want American cuisine, please go elsewhere.
M. S.
Had the “American” breakfast was glorious with a banana malt shake, perfect for a sunny Sunday morning! Staff were all very friendly.
K. S.
Great place to take kids (or nostalgic adults). So many interesting things to look at! And yummy pancakes, milkshakes etc.
S. B.
So nice
Huge burger with jack daniel's sauce with oreo milkshake
W.
Social distancing enforced well the staff are very friendly and the food is very good.
The milkshakes are absolutely fantastic and you get more than enough to keep you going.
My wife had the vegan hotdog and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Highly recommended
A. F.
Great place for a hint of America. Love the burgers and shakes! Great place to take hids with lots of choice. 100% recommend
J. C.
Fantastic mouth watering food, excellent customer service.
A. R.
Gorgeous retro laid back diner. Massive milkshake proportions, yummy nonetheless
J. M.
Very nice food, especially the milkshakes. Staff were very friendly would definitely go again when in brighton
D. U.
Staff were polite, and overall the food was lovely. Unfortunately it wasn't overly hot (the food) and i paid extra for caramelised onions, that turned out to be soggy pale onions. Staff were seen on many occasions wearing their masks under their chin, or not on at all, which was off putting. The chips and onion rings were lovely.
H. S.
Yummy food, great service
P. O. M.
Been here a few times (before the pandemic) and would have given it five stars back then. This time, it was ok. Service was quick but the food was lacking. For an American diner I want an abundance of obesity causing goodness but alas, not this time.
Too few chips.
Burger was good though.
The menu has been reduced also which meant that dessert options were seriously lacking.
***Avoid the dessert with the bubblegum ice-cream, it's rank***
I'll go back but only once this pandemic is over and the menu restrictions are gone.
L. M.
Gorgeous food gorgeous staff. They were absolutely lovely to my 5 year old, so welcoming and accommodating ❤
K. D.
The food here is amazing, massive portions, friendly staff, the American feeling what more could you want 🤩
N. M.
Milkshake was amazing, burger way over priced
S. G.
Amazing food. They do great milkshakes too. We had 2 burgers and the sharing nachos (which themselves are good enough for a meal) and couldn't finish it. The nachos are fantastic. The staff are friendly and the decor and atmosphere is fun. Well worth a visit.
A. R.
Excellent food. Enough to put you into a happy food coma.
Lovely customer service 👌
S. B.
A real American Diner. Good food and service. And very interesting decorations.
N. M.
Nice aesthetics, great service and good food
E. C.
The milkshakes will blow your mind, and the burger are delicious. Great table service and not extortionately priced.
P. R.
One of my FAVOURITE places to go, the food is unreal, the drinks are ACTUALLY AMERICAN (oh how I missed good Mountain Dew!) and the staff are always super quick and super lovely. Try the malt shakes, that's definitely one of my favourite drinks of all time! It's like a dessert and a drink combined! The decoration is also super cool, the music playing adds to the American-style diner ambience, and they have Tom & Jerry playing on screens! A fantastic little place
C. D.
Really cool place, food was fantastic, staff attentive but not intrusive,
The only thing that let the atmosphere down was the lad walking past r table 20 times with black bags of rubbish.
S. F.
I've been here twice and really enjoy it! If you choose to visit this place then you HAVE to try one of their shakes!
R. H.
Place is average at best. Milkshakes are the saving grace because you get enough to feed a family of 14 from one serving. The food is average to high price and the actual taste scale is 4/10 really, nothing blew me away while I was here. The decor is cool, very retro and American. The service is rushed and its not very personal. It's not as good as woodies diner used to be.
C. P.
The food was a good size portion and really tasty. The milkshakes were gorgeous especially the Bailey, mint and oreo cookie one. The downside was I felt it was rather expensive.
J. B.
It was unique and fun, if you want burger, milkshake or hotdog you're in the right place. Milkshake options are brilliant.
c. c.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast.
C. C.
Wonderful atmosphere, great service by friendly servers. The menu is comprehensive and covers all manner of tastes whilst still maintaining the traditional American theme. While the decor is a bit in your face, it's all part of what gives JBs its charm.
S. T.
Great food great service, great decor
B. C.
If you want a fun place and good food, then head here. Myself and three friends had a late breakfast which was delicious. The burgers are also very tasty and there is always plenty on your plate. The staff are friendly and helpful. I would recommend that you try a milkshake, some wonderful flavours to choose from.
E. B.
You sure you get a lot for your money, staff are friendly helpful and nice as well we had a brilliant time will definitely go again
D. m.
Brilliant decor and atmosphere. The milkshakes are ALWAYS delicious and I've never had a problem with the food before.
Sometimes the burgers come in the classic American style plastic tray, I'm sure some people like this but I'm not a fan personally. It's a shame that the beer is a bit pricey too.
M. H.
First visit, great staff and excellent food the full rack of ribs was definitely worth the price
D. P.
Where to start... How about prices!
Short answer, fairly expensive. Long answer, it's Brighton, it's near the sea and the pier, it's gonna be a bit expensive.
How about food quality? Well, expect anything you get there to be top quality. From corn dogs to burgers to the chips, it's all what you would expect for their price and more.
Drink wise? You've got your standard coke and all that, then some freshly squeezed orange juice, but the main thing I want to talk about is the milkshakes. At £5 (£6 for the brand based ones), you get a choice in flavour, from vanilla to bubblegum to hershey's chocolate, whipped cream, sprinkles, a cherry on top all in a big glass. Oh, and did I mention that they make enough for around 2.5 glasses and they just give you the container to top up with? That's 2.5 massive milkshakes for £5.
Atmosphere: Very fitting
Food range: Pretty decent
Experience: Very pleasing
Would I recommend it: Without a doubt
W. J.
Friendly service, Milkshakes are not to be missed!
S. Z.
I found the whole experience surprisingly pleasant. I have visited once before, and left within 10 minutes, as no member of the waiting staff made the effort to come over and take our order. On this occasion, it was much better.
Service was quick, efficient and friendly. The menu was predictably unadventurous, as you would expect in an American diner, however, the array of milkshakes on offer is impressive. Burger was decent, and the side serving of fries and salad was very generous. I have a big appetite, and the main course was sufficient to fill me up, and leave no room for dessert.
Would come here again, if the occasion called for it!
T. L.
They have the best hard shakes in the south. The food is mediocre but service is great.
N. J.
Changed the menu from the last time we were there service not quite up to speed
E. C.
Love the food here, it's fun to take the children with all the different milkshakes.
m.
Always stop by here when I'm visiting. Relaxed, American menu. Open late, lovely staff and really good burgers.
M. N.
Gteat atmosphere and tasty food. A real American treat in Brighton.
J. T.
Excellent service....great plant based food! I had the beetroot burger....tasted like meat! The roll it came in was very fresh and tasty too. If you are a vegan you must try the vegan blueberry cheesecake...it's absolutely delish!....went there twice with my sister and was delighted both times....definitely my go to restaurant when in UK.
Æ. R.
Funky theme diner with excellent food options and amazing milkshakes. I've gone at least once every time I've been in Brighton. Offers bottomless filter coffee, which I'm a massive fan of. The Americana is a little over the top but that's kind of expected from the description. Decent staff, though slightly slow on coffee refills.
T. K.
Amazing milkshakes. Average, fatty American-style food. Could have been tastier. The tables were sticky and the doors needed a good clean. Toilets could have been much cleaner too.
D. P.
What a gem, so pleased we found this and food was Brilliant.
N. A.
Fantastic place for breakfast. Endless coffee, great private booths and the staff are consistently excellent and attentive.
M. H.
I like this place, it reminds me of Happy Days... Woah 👍
A. S.
On a Monday night we felt rushed to eat and leave they closed the bar at around 8.45 and started asking if we wanted desserts whilst still eating our main meal, as soon as we finished eating they brought over the card machine and bill.
K. U.
Atmosphere and music makes the place really look the part.
The food on offer was served as expected.
Milkshake looked amazing and tasted good, until I found a blonde hair in it.
The blue haired waitress was very helpful, shame our designated waitress wasn't quite up to the same level of customer care.
Would go back for a second try. Very for good value for money.
A. W.
Great service, and good food.
A welcoming atmosphere, with very attentive staff.
We rocked up half-hour before closing time, and they served us well passed the closing time without fuss.
Happily recommend
S. K.
First time there. Atmosphere and staff were lovely. I had a salad which was great and my wife had the ribs. They were lush but just too much on the plate for her. We would have managed to share this. Staff so friendly. Pricewise I thought they were very good for amount of food you got. Chocolate fudge cake a must have
R.
Came here twice over the bank holiday weekend and loved it ! Emily was so so lovely and charged our phones for us . Breakfast was perfect , thank you for a wonderful experience !
N. D.
The staff were very kind and one of the waiters helped my friend read out the menu as he has ADHD and it was hard for him to do so. Very patient and lovely! The food was delicious! Would have given 5* as the service was excellent but the managers attitude towards his staff is appalling! Please dont shout at your employees in front of customers, very rude! This spoilt the atmosphere but overall a very good restaurant. Manager needs to be fired for the abuse he hurls at staff!
C. T.
Great service, lovely food, and exciting venue!
Loads to see and look at, classic tom and jerry episodes playing for the kids (and adults!) And good music to listen to!
D. G.
Food was okay, service was not matching the price they charge and therefore only 3*. Their burgers are standard, nothing of a high quality and with the price they are selling these at, you would of at least expected something slightly upmarket.
The shakes were good and selection of beers was okay.
N. B.
Loved JB's! Fantastic french fries, amazing drinks and Cajun chicken and the service was lovely!
P. R.
Went there for breakfast. It wasn't as good as lunch when we went a few years back. Some of the food wasn't quite as warm as I would like.
The chocolate milkshake could have done with more flavour... The coffee was great though.
But it was ok.
F. M.
Great food great staff
B. D.
Fab atmosphere. Awesome food
R. I.
Very nice 3 of us went for lunch, burgers for 2 , I had a mixed grill very nice the chicken was a bit spicy for me. Helpful staff I can recommend this place.
L. E.
Our favorite restaurant so far! 😍
Me and my Boyfriend went to Brighton for Holidays last summer and we fell in love with JBs American Diner.
Just the location, the service, the people, the decoration and of course the food.... it‘s truly a dream just as Brighton itself. ☀️
We can‘t wait to visit again this summer 2020 and are truly excited!
Best greetings from Switzerland 😀
T.
Nice place. Service was a little slow although it was a very busy day. I ordered a virgin cocktail with a shot of rum in it and the rum was served on the side but to be honest. I found that hilarious. The food looked great though.
Z. F.
Lovely little diner in Brighton with a great selection of food and drink
D. L.
Were lucky enough to find this place yesterday. Had a super meal and nothing was too much trouble for the hard working but happy staff. Lovely.
A. S.
Really nice American diner. The staff are really friemdly and helpful. Food is not greasy and cooked well.
They are happy to cool your food how you like it and have a good choice of American Diner food and English Breakfast.
Price wise it is a bit expensive when compared to similar but it is worth it. The milkshakes are the best made with real ice cream and they are huge. Definatly worth a try.
M. J.
By far the best burger I've ate. Great atmosphere good old rock n roll music very relaxed never rushed. And 1 burger leaves you full for the day. An absolute must. Been in Brighton for 2 days and had to come for 2 dinners. And the staff are absolutely fantastic. If I could rate it higher I would. A MUST.
L. E.
Family breakfast during our trip to Brighton. Great place, friendly staff, good food. I would recommend 👍
K. N.
Came here for lunch. What a cool place! Really good atmosphere and loads of American items on the walls and ceilings. You get catapulted to an old American diner. Food was lovely and we didn't wait too long. Good, friendly service
P. R.
Had a lovely family meal today. All food cooked well with prompt and courteous service and also some of us had ice cream and milkshakes which seemed to go down very well. Lots of 50's memorabilia to look st too.
J. B.
The food is ok but not amazing compared to some places in Brighton where you would pay a similar price. It's a cool place though, the milkshakes are fantastic too. Not really American though, no cheese steak on the menu and no Ruben, two classics of the American diner.
S. T.
As an English person whose favourite fizzy drink is root beer, I was over the moon at the root beer floats here. The alcoholic milkshakes was delicious, and you're given a cup with the leftover shake that didn't fit in your glass! The burger was pretty good, although the beef wasn't great. The portion sizes were big. The price is okay and I was happy with my experience. The décor is slightly over the top, I must say.
B.
Amazing food, awesome design and set up, will be coming back! Thank you!
M. A.
Nice family restaurant, my kids love it here especially the milkshakes.
R. W.
Superb food, friendly staff and good service. The Popeye Salad was delicious and plentiful and the shakes were amazing, I had Tiramasu and it was a dessert in a glass...and we even got the extra!!! Definitely recommend this quirky American Diner
C. W.
Food is delicious and portion size is great for hungry appetites. If you love the sound and look of the 50's this is the place for you. A hidden gem in the middle of Brighton's tourist area. The milkshakes here are pure heaven.
P. R.
Glad I ignored the poor reviews, awesome decor, friendly staff, great music and atmosphere. American size portions for a fair price too. Nachos were awesome, huge portion too. Steak was a little thin and overcooked but still lovely. Overall, definately worth the price.
J. G.
Amazing American diner experience food drinks and staff all perfect 👍🏻
N. A. E.
Really good burger and dogs, and good selection of American import drinks - fun atmosphere, great Americana.
S. M.
Great service as always and very accomodating as we have a guide dog. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was fresh and served quickly. Need to top up the bread rolls quicker though but apart that a great meal. Need to remember how big those shakes are....
C. C.
The food was nice however the shakes were a bit over priced, they were a good size but not very nice and we all tried multiple flavours. The waitresses also made us feel a little uncomftorable as they stand watching the tables eat instead of being behind the bar and skirts were extremely short especially as there were many families eating. The decoration and music was a nice touch and gave a nice atmosphere to the restaurant.
C. T.
Milkshakes are amazing, probably best to order one between two unless you're some kind of giant stomach monster...or a bear freshly woken from hibernation. Food is proper American grub, not much on the menu for vegetarians, but from my experience that's a pretty authentic American menu, burgers and fries, not fine dining. Love the decor, Tom & Jerry keeps the boyfriend happy 😂
E. J.
Eat there during eat out to help out. Burger not good - very dry and strange to be served a fruity ice cream milkshake before my main course. The milkshake was fabulous, though
C. R.
Today my boyfriend and I went into this American diner on our 5 year anniversary and we were absolutely not disappointed, we were immediately greeted by the lovely Hermione who had such a bright, sunny and cheerful personality, she showed us to our table and happily answered any questions we had as well as this the decor is INCREDIBLE! Absolutely recommend, we will be returning 😊
V. C. (.
Having not been here for about a year decided on a Saturday breakfast .... Wasn't busy around 10 people ... Order taken took 20 mins for coffee and a breakfast tea to arrive the coffee was luke warm .... Full English was good but the poached eggs on the humus and avocado breakfast were not fully cooked .
The decor felt a bit grubby apart from that waiting staff were friendly
S. M.
Awesome place for breakfast! Eggs and bacon are tasty (crispy bacon). The pancakes are a show stopper, light, fluffy and come with a variety of toppings. The interior looks like a traditional American diner. If you feeling like something not so ‘British’ in Brighton, this is a must.
r. r.
This place has become one of my favourite restaurants in Brighton for recent visits. If you enjoy American style dining (and surroundings) then this is the stop for you. They do the best milkshakes in Brighton hands down, and they are a meal in themselves quantity-wise. They also do brilliant American style breakfasts.
M. T.
Surprising good diner in a very touristic spot. Burgers were big and bread buns were fresh and warm. Pretty good value for money as well. Onions rings portion is huge. More than enough for two even three.
J. M.
Quick service on reception. Instant table service and very polite
Z. A.
Vibrant environment. Really do look like an American diner. We had cheesy fried and milkshake. The milkshake were huge plus comes with extra glass to top up when you finish. Cheesy fries were good but wish it was a little more cheesy at the top.
M. P.
Excellent. Had pancakes, bacon (hmmm bacon) with maple syrup. Service (after a short wait for a table) was quick, efficient and friendly. Lots of Americana tack everywhere, which was wonderful. Wish they'd have done a proper American breakfast though. I'd go back.
A. C.
I love this place! The food, the atmosphere, the food..! the surroundings, did I mention the food? If you are hungry and want to eat somewhere fun and walk out vowing to never eat again because you are so stuffed, then this is the place for you, your children or your parents. Something for everyone. I get to watch Tom and Jerry on every TV whilst James Dean is staring at me from the ceiling, read the walls! enjoy your visit, I certainly did.
K. L.
Good food. Good ambiance & good staff.
M. K.
It has been the most favourite place for my two girls and husband to dine out. They are all into the house milkshakes, with burgers and chips. The deco is definitely very unique and fits the food they offer. I enjoy watching Tom and Jerry or Mickey Mouse when I am there.
S. B.
I have eaten here a couple of times now. The most recent being 25th November with my partner who is a huge burger fan. The food is fresh, hot and tastes wonderful. The mozzarella sticks are Incredible, with a lovely mild sweet chilli dip on the side. My partner had the buffalo wings and he loved them. We both had burgers, of which the meat was high quality and tastes fantastic. The milkshakes are absolutely beautiful! The customer service is good, and even on a busy day things are very speedy. The place was absolutely packed when we arrived but we only waited about 4 minutes for a table. The food maybe 5/10 minute wait for each course and a 5 minute wait for drinks. We also waited minimal time for the bill to arrive aswell. All the girls were very friendly and chatty. They were also presented very well *except in my opinion their uniform skirts should be a few inches longer due to this place being quite popular with families lol but that's my own personal opinion due to getting an accidental peek of one of the staffs underwear when she leaned over the table opposite us to clear plates* .. This is a lovely place to visit with lots of memorabilia items to admire. And we even got to watch Tom and Jerry whilst we were eating our dinner, so as 2 adults who loved Tom and Jerry as kids it was a very nostalgic experience lol. I Reccomend this diner if you are looking for reasonably priced food in Brighton.
K. R.
Good location close to the seafront. Nice interior and friendly staff. Portions are quite big. Food is good, as the name suggests American diner style. Nothing too exciting though. Probably great for an evening out with friends.
C. J.
Best milkshake I ever had and u get 2 out milkshake and relly great on the price 👌
T. H. H.
Great burgers...shakes were awesome. .staff really friendly,,gets booked up so timing is key. We couldn't fit in our dessert so went back the next day for an excellent knickerbocker Glory ice cream sundae
S. L.
Good food, reasonable prices & friendly welcoming staff. Would definitely recommend.
M. P.
Food is good, service can improve. Probably not enough staff, had to wait an hr for a burger.
T. B.
Lovely food but the sharing platter isn't that shareable. Otherwise amazing
T. D.
Food is lovely and great sized portions!!
We came down for breakfast and that was delicious came back next day for lunch and that was even better!!
Staff were lovely and made us feel welcomed but the food was just amazing!!
K. H.
Food and Shakes were very tasty! The service that night wasn't great as we weren't seated for over 5 minutes as well as not being served for over 10 when it was a quiet night. We overheard the servers complaining about customers which was not pleasant.
H. D.
Reasonable food and the staff are very friendly. Only negative is some of the staff wear very short skirts and then bend over the tables to clean, not somewhere I would take a young child for that very reason. But other than that worth a visit if you are passing and fancy a burger.
f. m.
Delicious food, but above all excellent service from Alvaro. very good job. that's doing a good job and being passionate about what do.
L. W.
Love this place for their amazing milkshakes but second time I've now visited and milkshake no longer thick like they used to be !!!
I won't be ordering milkshske again but will still visit as family love the milkshakes and we all love the food
H. P.
Enjoyed everything about this place! Portions were very generous and milkshakes were amazing. The staff were attentive but not in your face and the price was very reasonable. Didn't have room for dessert so we'll have to go back😁
L. L.
Went here for breakfast with family (4 of us), even though it was the day of Brighton Marathon service was quick, staff were polite & the food was very good.
I'd recommend the American Breakfast, pancakes are sweet and the sausages & bacon were great.
K. G.
Pretty authentic. The milkshakes are enormous, enough for two people. They are very accommodating with mix and match requests. I had banana and peanut butter 😉
A. M.
We went to Brighton for my birthday. One night we had dinner there. 😍 The decor in this place is literally breathtaking! We had burgers...these were literally American size burgers and affordable too. Ps: the milkshakes are really good.
S.
First time visiting and will definitely be returning when visit Brighton again. Lovely atmosphere, welcoming staff and delicious food
L.
Great Service, food fast and hot with great portions - exactly what you'd expect being a take on the typical american dinner. Milkshakes are HUGE so be prepared a shake and a meal is a gut buster! Whole menu is great - definitely recommend!

Fabulous! Felt like we were back in the States (apart from the dismal weather outside) Staff are very friendly and the food (especially the root beer floats) made the meal very authentic. Will definitely be back on our next visit to Brighton.

Amazing food and excellent service.
J. W.
Good food and staff very pleasant and helpful. Not mega expensive either and with great music too.
D. M.
The best thing about this place is the ambience - all the americana, music and very relaxed, warm atmosphere. Be warned ; muted Tom and Jerry cartoons play on various screens which does totally take your kids attention - so you might not get much conversation out of them. Service is reasonable but often busy so staff can be rushing around and often hard to get their attention. However the food is very average and unseasoned, pretty disappointing on this front. So not a gastro experience.

Food was on point, it was honestly really good! I'd definitely recommend the jumbo onion rings. Absolutely lovely service. A good atmosphere and they've put in a really good effort to their décor.

Went with some friends, general consensus: it's...alright. The sandwiches and burgers were dry. The fries could've been crispier. And the ketchup and BBQ sauce were weirdly sweet.
My biggest problem was that it wasn't truly American. Far as I could tell, it was just British-style foods with American things slapped in their name. Speaking of which, the Chicago dog wasn't a Chicago dog. Whole sport peppers not sliced jalapenos, don't saute the onions and sweet relish as well as a pickle (also celery salt, real important). I'm willing to hand-wave the poppy seed bun. It's fine if you want to make your "Chicago" dog as is, but don't call it something it's not just to make it fit your shtick.
If you're American and feeling homesick, go to TGI Fridays at the marina. TGI Friday's here are actually much better here than in the US, bit pricey though.

We like it here! Great food, really fast service. Its very family friendly and really consistently good quality. I wouldn't go here for date night unless I was 18 but as a family place everyone loves it.
B. R.
The food and service were terrific!!
F. F.
Lovely place a little tired but good great
R. T.
The theming of the place is brilliant, lots to look at and the food is ok. Our experience of the service was mixed, one waitress was quite rude and another was really great. The tidiness was not so great with leftover food and dirty napkins on the floor under our booth.

amazing food, great portions. (the banofee milkshake is to die for) and lovely friendly staff
D. H.
Always pop in for breakfast or lunch when visiting Brighton. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food is amazing and the milkshakes are a must. Can be very busy at peak times but well worth the wait.
M. J.
Classic 50's american diner situated by Brighton sea which features exquisite statues of past famous american heroes on the interior. There is a grand range of milkshakes which specialises in near enough every type of sweet food shake which are hand made with 5 minutes. The food is inevitably spectacular and fresh however prices are pretty surplus and would on visit here now and then unless you magnetize money.
Most of the staff were kind and friendly however one staff member was a bit rude just because we didn't want to pay service charge.
All in all, the imacculate restaurant to visit when in Brighton
T. M.
The milkshakes are super tasty.
V. M.
The place was very nice and I was nicely attended. The food is amazing. I left the restaurant very happy, I will repeat for sure. If you ask for the cheessy fries you won't regret it!!
F.
Get the milkshake and share it with two it's enough! Pretty expensive but an authentic atmosphere. Compared to actual diners in the states the customer service could be improved here and the staff chit chat and are occupied with eachother most of the time.
P.
Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff, lovely food with AMERICAN portions. Best for their milkshakes - you HAVE to try the peanut butter or jaffa cake shake. Bottomless Filter coffee also offers infinite value for money. A must visit
M. J.
The vibe was great and the service good too. Went at breakfast and the pancakes were maybe a little large but the cooked breakfast was excellent and the price was great for what we got. Will definitely visit again!

An oasis of Americana on Brighton seafront. My 12 & 10yr olds love it, mainly for the nonstop Tom'n'Jerry cartoons. The malt shakes are smooth and divine if getting a little sweet for my aging palette. The fried onion ring starters are a main in themselves! Burgers are a safe bet, accompanied by large portions of fries and salad. If you're hungry on arrival, you won't be leaving. I've yet to manage a desert!🥴 I decided to be a bit different this time and tried the Ranch Chicken Wraps. Whilst not terrible I wish I'd stuck with the burger. Staff are attentive as ever and worth every penny of the 10% added onto the bill. I only wish they'd invest in it a bit and give it a good make over, starting with new covers on the benches. Wonder if that'll be done by our next visit...🤔
N. R.
Cool diner, decent food, milkshakes excellent
A. P.
Great atmosphere, totally a diner vibe and the breakfast options are very american, however not the best diner ive been to! Nice staff! Lovely location by the beach. Some food like the pancakes were average, but a fun time overall!

Went in just for the milkshakes after hearing about them. Great value for money, they are really big and tasty, restaurant is clean and has a great classic American look. Fast and efficient service.
R. G.
Went in for dinner during a few days away after a random Google search for places to eat in the area and im glad I fell upon this gem of am eatery, extremely good food and all within the theme, very tasty and you for sure get what you pay for and then some, will be coming back for more when I'm in Brighton again
A. B.
Great food, good service. Was busy so had to wait a bit for oder to be taken but still was good service. Only thing I didnt like was waitress put tip through without giving me option to tip by card or cash.
S. B.
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, beautiful location, can't wait to go back
M. B.
Definitely a place you've gotta go to atleast once, interesting and fun atmosphere with good food and lots of choices of the American food. Lots of cool shakes and drinks. And the mixture of both. Definitely gonna come back here to try some other stuff.

I would love to rate JBs Diner higher but the food and slow service let the place down. The menu is unadventurous and with very little combinations to sing or shout about. I ordered nachos for a starter - there was very little cheese on them and I had to swat a small fly to keep it away from landing in my food. The milkshake was great, I couldn't fault the Reeses Pieces flavour. These are so big you would be better of sharing them if you have a small appetite. For a main, I ordered a Jack Daniels BBQ beef burger - the onion ring inside was undercooked and I was disappointed that the patty resembled that of a frozen burger. It was very hard and firm but the main thing I picked up on, was lack of seasoning on the food. It's a must in cooking to make sure your food is well seasoned. All food here is cooked well done but I feel the option should be given otherwise. I prefer medium rare - I'm a big meat lover and I can't stand food being ruined with the 'well done' treatment. JBs has potential but a revamp in food quality is essential. The whole ambience was very relaxing and they even have Tom and Jerry playing on the TV which was a nice touch of nostalgia. What I will say, the staff didn't greet me for atleast 5 minutes even though the restaurant wasn't that busy. I will pay credit to one of the girls who worked there who managed to remember the whole food order without having a pen or paper to note it down. The main course was a good 30 minute wait combined with a long wait for the bill and to finally pay. I was startled when I noticed a mandatory service charge which I feel should be given as an option to customers if they choose to award the restaurant with the tip. I've been to a similar America Diner called 'Dean's Diner' and I must say the food was incredible. There was so much variety. With that combined with the decor of JBs which was nothing short of an amazing time tunnel of nostalgia, it would be the ideal American authentic diner.
D.
good milkshakes
free popcorn and marshmallow :)
K.
Great place to eat.. American style burger bar....the burgers are good value for money ..the atmosphere is good. We had a good time in here..and the oreo milkshakes are so delicious
M. H.
Very tasty burgers and fries. We had the haloumi burgers, stacked with sauces, an onion ring, and salad - very tasty, and very filling.
The star of the show though are the milkshakes - freshly made, and they're enormous! They could be a whole meal to themselves. There are lots of options (I went for tiramisu), and they offer alcoholic versions too. Our friend loved the Jamesons & mint one.
Good prices, friendly staff, retro Americana decor, and Johnny Cash and Elvis on the stereo - what's not to like?
S. R.
Great place and atmosphere, good service and lovely food, although not sure I'd order a milkshake again as quite expensive for what it is.
L. M.
I love this place and have done for many years. I can’t give it 5 stars anymore as it is starting to look dated and the toilets are long over due a referb as they are minging. Other than that, great tasting food and milkshakes.
D. B.
Great atmosphere, service and most importantly food!
A. L.
Amazing food really tasty omg we loved it the staff are welcoming and friendly great atmosphere for every member of the family definitely would come again and recommend
R. O.
Fantastic !!
The whole experience was great.
Breakfast with pancakes and maple syrup, bacon, sausage egg and potatoes.
Bottomless coffee.
Rock n Roll and country music.
Don't miss this gem !
D. D.
The decor was authentic and there was a nice atmosphere. The staff were very friendly. The food was typical for an American diner with good sized portions.
D. D.
Staff were lovely and attentive and were very good with my allergies. The food was delicious - especially the milkshakes and floats. Great atmosphere - thank you!
W. F.
Great fun! The kids enjoyed looking at all the interesting paraphernalia & the staff were very welcoming! Great selection of hot dogs & burgers & the milkshakes are excellent!
T. W.
Excellent customer service the staff were friendly greeted us with a lovely smile the food was lovely
M. B.
Great food, personally the best milkshakes on earth, nice aesthetic. Great little restaurant and not too expensive either.
K. M.
Prices seem high at first, until you see what you get and how filling the meal is. Fantastic staff, wonderful area, delicious food. Couldn't ask for more.
G. R.
Great food/milkshakes a must visit in Brighton
V. R.
Great experience with super child friendly staff.
R. G.
Food is not great if you are trying to stick to healthy eating e.g too greasy etc. However the milkshakes are 5☆. You could just visit for these alone. Numerous flavours and you can combine. You get extra mix too, it's so filling it is like a full meal. I recommend the hazel nut and Reeses pieces, my two favourites combined. I like to visit this place every time I go to Brighton just for the milkshake!
D. Z.
Godd staff, nice drinks
j. s.
Great milkshake selection :) best for me was the vodka lime and crackers... meal and a drink in one worked surprisingly well.
E. M.
It’s 3.5 place. Milkshakes excellent. Food ok. Service v slow even though there were plenty of staff around (it was fairly empty when I was there). As others mentioned, quite pricey.
J. C.
Great atmosphere, we did not eat there but by the looks of other peoples food it looked good. The milkshakes are amazing but not for the faint hearted
J. T.
Amazing American style foods! Worth travelling to Brighton just for their food! The portions are super generous!
G. B.
Huge portions, ridiculously large. Milkshakes too, you get about two for one. The pricing is fair but in general the quality is meh. Way too loud in there too between the music and constant whirring of the blenders.
M. F.
Great fun. Super service, we went for my teenage daughters birthday and they made a fuss of her, made an extra special evening for her. Delicious milkshakes.
T. S.
My son loves this place and it’s always very tasty with massive portions, price is high but it’s for special occasions... however I had potato skins which were burnt and so dry inside not good plus the tiny black bugs on the table was a bit off putting!! Hopefully was just an off day x
V. K.
Great food and drinks. Great atmosphere. Decor is amazing and Tom and Jerry playing on TVs for kids. Get a milkshake, they are the best!!
M. S.
Good food but nothing special, good service but again, nothing special, more smiling faces would help, people would feel more welcome.. I like my cheese on my burger melted, here, they just put a cold slice of cheap cheddar on top.
M. P.
This place is good but slighlty expensive there vegi burgers need to have more flavour there milkshakes are really nice. 1 milkshake can be shared between 2 people they give to huge cups.
R. W.
amazing food and milkshakes. would definitely recommend eating here.
R. S.
Great atmosphere and amazing burgers and shakes. Proper 50's diner. Gets very busy and they don't take booking so be prepared to wait for a table at the weekend but it will be worth it
C. A.
I'd deffinately recommend this place as a place to take teenagers and young children it's got great decal with icons of the 50s plenty of Elvis Presley music being typed out and lots of yummy American burgers milkshakes and fries. The service isn't great however the atmosphere makes up for that
B. R.
The service is awesome, the food is fantastic, the atmosphere is like no other and as soon as you walk through the doors it feels like a traditional diner in the states. Highly recommend checking it out! 🇺🇸🤙🤙🇺🇸
E. F.
Great tasting milkshake and cool theming. The atmosphere could of been a little better. However all people friendly.
U. D.
Had the American Breakfast on Saturday morning - 2 big American pancakes with 2 strips of streaky bacon, 2 sausages, maple syrup, filter coffee. No hash browns? Tasty and filling, probably about a thousand calories 😉
S. R.
Excellent customer service, great tasting food and great portions. Family / informal /celebratory atmosphere. Outstanding memorabilia and fun music... Love Jim Reaves !
Z. X.
Very nice diner, friendly attentive staff and quality of food is brilliant. Made a quick filling burger.
G. C.
Great place, great staff, great food & the milkshakes are awesome!
T. S.
Really, really nice staff and a great vibe. Constructive feedback would be serve those wings in a buffalo sauce!
M. S.
I came here with my wife, lovely atmosphere and staff are always smiling. The food was very good and I absolutely loved the nostalgia.
S. A.
Food is decent, the milkshakes are absolutely amazing and you 100% get your moneys worth! Definitely recommend as one of the best if not the best shake place in brighton.
S. B.
My boys love the food & milkshakes. I love the decor proper American diner. Staff always very nice & you never feel rushed
K. N.
4 stars for the style. Almost authentic American Diner interior. If it was for the food only, 3 stars.. Mainstream standard burgers. Have had worse but also much better.. Ok. But nothing to brag about...
S. G.
What a brilliant experience!
Fantastic sized portions, great tasting and staff are extremely helpful!
Some of the people leaving negative reviews on here need to take their heads out of their frickin arses.
V. K.
Great place with amazing, tasty food and drinks. Helpful staff, I really liked the 1950's design and worth he money. It wasn't busy the time we visited, so all good. Recommended place and we will return.
T. P.
Good food. Reduced menu currently which is a shame but understandable. Excellent surroundings/decor and atmosphere.
J. P.
JB's American Diner has really gone all out on the décor, the menu, and the staff outfits. I took my girlfriend here and had a fantastic burger with a couple of delicious alcoholic milkshakes. Slightly on the expensive side of things, but worth it for a nice dinner with a sea side view.
C. M.
Good food. Good music AND Tom & Jerry cartoons!
I. M.
What a lovely American diner. Just like the real deal. I've never been to a real American diner but this is exactly like it.
The 'gals' are bang tidy too.
Love the vibe and the food is awesome.
S. F.
Fantastic place for lunch or dinner, the milkshakes are a marvel in their own right. The food is great as are the staff and surroundings. Well worth a visit.
S.
Great tasting food and drinks in a nice atmosphere. Would have been four stars, but we didn't like the fact that the tip was automatically added to the bill.
J. E.
Lovely staff, excellent customer service and outstanding food. When in Brighton again will be coming back!
J. C.
Service was good, pancakes were nice, though serving it with butter and real maple syrup and proper crispy bacon would have kicked it up to a whole new level. Fun experience though.
T. K.
Great food, great service, well priced and an authentic American restaurant. I'll visit every time I'm in Brighton!
m. s.
Ate so much we nearly had to be carried out, better than I expected from a seafront place. Burgers really juicy, fried pickles a must and very nice service from the guy who served us.
J. S.
Great food, best Milkshake in town, nice staff
A.
The best milkshake I ever had. Lovely place and service. I will come back for sure. Just one tip: one milkshake is enough for two people.
N. L.
Great value for money, lovely atmosphere, had Tom and Jerry cartoons on the tv all night, lovely staff and the food was sensational, can t believe we hadn't been here before and most definitely will be going back :) p.s. try the VIP Milkshakes...ORGASMIC!
P. M.
Awesome burger restaurant! Very generous portions, delicious huge milkshakes and cheap for what it is! Music a little too loud. Definitely worth a visit.
J. P.
Great stylish restaurant, food also nice, good atmosphere inside. Missing last Star for very long waiting for a waitress with bill on my last visits there.
