Reviews of Petit Pois Restaurant
P. D.
Loved this restaurant. Staff so pleasant and attentive without being over board. Food was so good, really good and I think the price of the food is very good. We had the snails, the duck and other items including entree, mains, desert and drinks. I would definitely recommend this French restaurant. Photos may not do the food justice.

The best Sunday Roast in Brighton is French! We've tried at least 10 spots in town for the Sunday Roast, but none has beaten Petit Pois. Just the right amount of food, top notch quality and a lot of flavours. Their gravy is superb as well! Highly recommended! :)
K. B.
Fantastic place with exquisite food. We both had the duck for main and it was so so good. I had steak tartare for starter and my partner had the cheese selection. We shared the snails. Staff were so lovely to us- a must visit when you go to Brighton.
J. J.
It was a wonderful dining experience. We booked our table in advance. We ordered Charcuterie, Bouillabaisse, Chicken Breast, duck Breast, Asparagus pesto and snails. Every dish is delicious and even my 8 year old cleans his plate. I love the Bouillabaisse as the soup is creamy and has a little spicy kick. Our desserts Profiterole Pistachio ice cream and Apple Tarte tatin were amazing. definitely worth the try.

Friendly staff. The duck was delicious. However, snails were somewhat bitter, with bread not included (snails in a French restaurant with no bread...). A price of "bread basket" (6 pieces of bread and some butter), of 3.5 pounds, which was added because of that, is over the top.
K. S.
Came here on a Sunday for lunch, wanted to book for dinner but was fully booked. Had their 3 course meal, food and service was great. Atmosphere was nice and was the place was full.
H. S.
Lovely restaurant with a cosy ambience. The menu, as expected with a fine dining place, is lean and refined. Good selection of wines and cheeses too.
In the attached pic, at the front is my pork chop main course and at the back is my wife's vegetarian courgette tempura main course. Both were excellent.
I've tried the beef main course before and that was great too.
Wwe will most certainly go back to Petit Pois in the future!
NB: restaurant is shut Tuesday and Wednesday, so plan accordingly.

Fantastic restaurant, beautiful and delicious food. I had trouble booking early slot, but Ivana was very helpful and kept in touch. Very friendly staff, our party of 6 had a great time. Thank you x
s. b.
I had a lovely pork roast dinner and apple pudding. Only difficulty was that my friends pork was mostly fat, which they replaced without a fuss, just meant we weren't able to eat at the same time. Service was friendly and quick.
K. S.
We had a wonderful Sunday lunch here, with delicious roast crackling on the pork belly that I’m still thinking about a day after!
Really friendly service from the crew too. Thank you so much!

Great French Bistro in Brighton. Serving some of the best food we've had in the UK. Great beef tartare, bouillabaisse and the best peas ever!
A. B.
Only a small restaurant, so we've tried before to get lunch there while shopping in the Lanes but it's always been full. This time we were lucky though, and wow wow wow! Fantastic French menu and the friendliest, most welcoming front of house team. The salt cod fritters were the stand-out starter for me, while the cod, scallops, and beef cheeks (3 separate dishes!) were all beautifully cooked and seasoned by the team in the kitchen - it was also lovely to be able to see them at work, too. Outstanding food and a lovely atmosphere... the best lunch I've had in Brighton. I'll definitely be visiting again, and would recommend it to anyone... just remember to make a reservation!

Great atmosphere, food was very tasty and well presented, staff were very attentive. Had a fantastic lunch, looking forward to next visit

This is one of those best kept secret places to eat. The food is fresh, lovely, delicious and well prepared by the amazing chefs.
The service staff is great and friendly.
You need to book ahead coz they have limited spaces and it’s always busy.
We enjoyed our lunch and very happy as everything they prepared it’s cooked with love and passion. Well done 👍🏻 everyone for sure will be retuning 🙏🏻💕
S. S.
The duck was absolutely delicious and the service was exceptional. Definitely coming again with my partner ☺️
B. S.
Gorgeous food, fantastic service. This is a little gem that not too many of my Brighton friends know about (but they will!)
We brought a foodie couple with high standards here and they were blown away.
Considering the quality of the food, prices are good

Always delivers. Classic French cooking + best Sunday roast we have had in a long time. Great selection of charcuterie and cheese. Wine list is short and well curated.
Love it. It is our safe bet for parents and friends!
D. G.
Lovely restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing my husband had the snails which he had never tried before, he said he would definitely have again. There were 4 of us and we all enjoyed the food. The staff are very friendly . Would definitely recommend this restaurant but you must book in advance. Thank you again for a great time.
L. B.
A beautiful restaurant, amazing food and great service & very lovely staff. Everything was perfect.

Amazing food. We had the beef and duck. Kira the waitress was a credit to the restaurant. Highly recommend
S. H.
Absolutely lovely restaurant! We got a table at the window and it felt very COVID safe away from other tables. The complimentary guacamole (pictured) was delicious along with everything we ordered. The snails were good, the bouillabaisse was good as well, but the duck breast took the crown. The chocolate fondant with pistachio ice cream was the perfect warm and cold combination to end the lunch.
R. J.
The food is beyond words. Exquisite food and excellent service, this little beauty will not dissapoint! I reccomend the fish bouillabaisse and the crème brûlée desert👌
R. M.
This restaurant is a little gem in Brighton. Small and unpretentious serving wonderful food of great quality. Everything we tried was lovely, their French-style Sunday roast was superb. The staff was also very accomodating with my two young children and i was pleasantly surprised to see how clean the toilets were, including a changing table for babies.
L.
We had a lovely meal in this friendly, cosy French/Mediterranean restaurant one evening last week. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and the food was amazing. The chef and kitchen turn out some fabulous dishes. Would highly recommend.
S. M.
This is truly a hidden gem in Brighton. The food and service was incredible!
My words don’t do the place justice all I can say is check it out for yourself- you certainly won’t be disappointed.
I never got to take photos as I was too happy eating away.
Thank you to all at Petis Pois what an amazing team x
H. M.
Once again, blown away by the fabulous dishes served at this amazing eatery! We had fresh sardines and salad and cheese and meat board. These did not disappoint at all. Just simply delicious flavours. Incredibly fresh, top quality ingredients. The bread is simply dangerous! You just can't stop eating it! Wow wow wow. Just book immediately!
S. J.
Lovely place, food amazing. I asked the waitress to recommend as I wanted something light (as the night before I’d not had a great experience at another restaurant), she was a bit reluctant but in the end she got it great. Meal was wonderful. Nice staff. I will defo go back.
C. D.
We had a lovely lunch here. Great food, great service, especially for such a busy time, and very reasonably priced for a meal this good. Would definitely recommend.
C. L.
Amazing food! They nailed every single dish they brought out. I can't wait to come back
E. T.
Beef checks, scallops, goat cheese croquettes, tarte tatin. Everything was incredible. Staff service excellent
E.
Both the food and the staff were amazing! Really enjoyed the visit, and will be recommending to anyone visiting Brighton!
R. F.
Relaxed French bistro with delicious, reasonably priced food and excellent service.
P. b.
Just a fab place, great atmosphere. Staff were lovely and efficient, you could feel that they were happy and proud to be there. The food was perfectly executed, well presented and full of flavour
P. C.
Booked in for a pre theatre lunch at Petite Pois, and absolutely loved it, nice sized restaurant and the decor was modern & relaxed. Staff were friendly, and attentive without being intrusive which is always nice. The menu was a good collection of some classic French dishes, with something to suit everyone. The wife had snails to start which were as they should be buttery and garlicky, and I had the chicory and Roquefort salad, with candid walnuts which was balanced perfectly, and left a very nice taste. We both had the bouillabaisse for main, which while seemed a little small to start with was just about the right size in the end. The fish on top was cooked perfectlyl, however the soup base did seem luke warm rather then hot, which while seeming strange at first ment the seafood in the soup itself didn't continue to then overcook, and remained with the correct texture/bite that they should have, also the soup itself had a really nice depth of flavour. Would have liked 1 more slice a bread if being critical, so would possibly recommend getting the bread basket if your a piggy like me, although after the meal we both were just at the right level of full, so I guess this was also on point. Cost of the meal with wine was good for quality and service, and we will look forward to another visit in the future. Highly recommend.
J. T.
Delicious bouillabaisse for me and all the others were as impressed. I also loved my apple tart tartin.. a favourite. Very relaxed for a catch up with family.
S. P.
Fabulous French restaurant hidden away from the seafront in Brighton with friendly staff and fairly priced wine list and amazing choice from the menu including Sunday roast. Looking forward to coming back to Petit Pois.
A. G.
My favourite French restaurant in Brighton. All the right flavours. Portions are French too: Quality over quantity. If you like French food don’t miss Petit Pois.
N. M.
Great French food at reasonable prices. Had charcuterie, moules frites, and duck between 2 of us, all really tasty. Quality of the meats particularly good, didn't quite have room for dessert or cheese.
Only down mark is a lack of French beer, only Kronenbourg lager or Enlgish ale, no French blonde or white beer, I particularly enjoyed white beers when in France so was looking forward to one.
Cannot fault the food though.
J. T.
Just outstanding! We have been to Petit Pois four times and we always forget just how good it is, it exceeds our expectations every time. All the dishes are amazing but the Bouillabaisse and crème brulée are sublime. I would love to see Ile flottante on the menu some time. Many thanks to the amazing chefs and all the team.
A. Z.
Pretty decent food at rather reasonable price. Make sure to reserve as the restaurant is pretty popular.
c. H.
Had a gorgeous meal, five Sunday roasts, delivered yesterday. Everyone was really pleased with the food, the quality and price were excellent.
B.
Fantastic. The food is excellent, and the staff wonderful. It's so good we've booked a table again for tomorrow night!
Having been again the second night I can strongly recommend the duck in blood orange sauce.
Why? The sauce is absolutely to die for!
N. B.
What a lovely restaurant, so accommodating with us and our 3 year old daughter. Fantastic food and excellent kids food too.
N. W.
Definitely the best restaurant in Brighton.
Very tasty food, staff friendly and professional. Reasonable prices. Highly recommend.
J. D.
Amazing service, staff were lovely, helpful and in no way pushy - that is before we get to the food... wow. Honestly the menu is varied and there really is something for everyone. I can personally recommend the Scallops, fillet tartare and the pork cheek as all were delicious. Will be returning soon and cannot implore you to come and try this incredible restaurant for yourself
N. H.
This place is often fully booked and for good reason. It is certainly one of the top French restaurants in the city. The plates are small which allows you to try more than one of their sumptuous dishes. They have a beautiful selection of cheeses and wines, and the staff are very knowledgeable and clearly possess a passion for food. This is an excellent place to eat.
N. P. P.
We went to visit Petit Pois as part of the Octoberbest food festival, and are so pleased that we did. The food was absolutely incredible, so good in fact that we ended up ordering off the main menu and splashing out a bit more.
Great wine selection, and friendly staff. Looking forward to going back very soon.
K. L.
My partner and I are huge foodies and were excited to try out Petit Pois after learning that the Head Chef was previously the Head Chef of one of our favourites Riddle and Finns.
The experience of both meals has been nothing shy of perfection - the ambience is relaxed and intimate, but without feeling like you're wedged in with strangers!
Some of the plates we have tried (and loved!) include the Salted Cod Cheeks (such an incredible texture and the sauce is a great pairing) the pigeon, Halibut with seaweed hollandaise (a revelation!) and the duck with the blood orange reduction (it took all restraint to not lick the plate!)
A must for dessert (alongside a cheeseboard!) are the creme brulee trio - the pistachio was our favourite.
Can't wait to go back again and enjoy more from this hidden gem!
F. B.
Really nice French restaurant with a good selection of dishes to cater all tastes. Friendly and attentive service. Cosy atmosphere so ideal for chatting.
A. D.
Loved it. Very nice authentic French food, friendly staff and easy to get. Very much enjoyed all 3 courses and found it very reasonably priced considering the quality of food. I would highly recommend.
Z. J.
One of the best restaurants I have visited in a while. The food was incredible. Fresh, tasty and perfectly portioned and presented. Would highly recommend.
J. B.
Such a lovely place! Friendly staff and the food was so delicious i was delighted. I went there with my fiance and it was the most amazing evening in a long time. Thanks!
C. B.
Amazing food and great service. Although the portions look small, they are wonderfully filling. The chocolate fondant was incredible.
D. P.
Absolutley superb! Book now. Impeccable service: subtle, professional and so polite. Warm, rustic decor and, essentially, delicious French style food served perfectly. We shared 4 starters all of which were delicious, the frogs legs and olives being the winners. The roast beef was outstanding, a perfectly cooked, single, thick slice of rump with accompanying crisp roast potatoes, carrots and exquisite jus. The Cote du Rhone matched well. I thought pudding would be a step too far but again the sorbets, creme bruleé and macaroons were delicious. Go now to enjoy the current menu.
N. D.
This restaurant is so good it made me want to move to Brighton! They successfully thread the needle between fine dining and flavoursome local rustic flavour and it was a truly magnificent dining experience. The service was perfect (friendly, attentive but not intrusive) and there is a great wine list with lovely house wines.. We brought our kids (we found the restaurant by googling "best places to eat in Brighton with kids) and they ate well too but as grown-ups we felt like we'd had a real treat and one of the best meals we've had in ages.
If we ever go back to Brighton we're definitely coming back. Thank you!
L. D.
Delicious French food and great quality. The service is spot on - they were amazing when we went there for my girlfriend's birthday. Thanks guys!!
R. M.
Myself and 4 friends met up for a pre Christmas Dinner at this lovely restaurant tucked away in Ship Street. Our food was excellent. Two of us had the beef cheeks and two had the duck. Our other friend had a vegetarian salad. All meals were delicious, the beef being melt in the mouth, and my friends said the duck was also very good and the salad delicious. We had sharing starters which were just enough and 3 desserts , chocolate fondue creme brullie and a trio of sorbets all equally delicious. The ambience was lovely, the service attentive but unobtrusive. The wine was also very good. The only thing that slightly disappointed us was it was only a 2 hour slot. We would have liked to linger longer after such a fabulous meal. A later sitting may have been our answer, as we arrived at 6pm. Anyway do try this lovely restaurant I can promise you will not be disappointed! It was our second visit there.
D. T.
Brilliant restaurant, everything was perfect, tbh I'd love to give 6 stars since it was that good.
M. H.
We had a call to confirm our booking just before 12 and asked if we could come a little early, they were very accommodating and when we arrived, very welcoming.
The restaurant itself is cosy and the staff so friendly.
The food was excellent and started with a lovely amouse bouche.
It was our daughters 3rd birthday and the meal was lovely, the staff made her feel very welcome and even brought her a birthday macaron with chocolate piped “Happy Birthday “.
We’ll be back, whether just the 2 of us or with our daughter.
I. P.
A properly good restaurant. Consistently delicious food, the best kind of service - attentive, friendly, not intrusive. Modest but assuredly confident.
C. D.
Brilliant in every way. I can't BELIEVE it took me this long to try this place. The staff greeting us were the most wonderful people. The food was not only an amazing selection but also really good quality. I can't express enough how good the staff were though, such a genuine friendly homely welcome. Will be coming again. And again. And again.
M. C.
Probably the best French restaurant in Brighton!
A little gem of a restaurant in The Lanes which serves authentic, fresh and delicious French food.
Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience eating here. The staff were truly excellent with their service and it's great to see the chefs preparing the food rather than being hidden away in another part of the restaurant.
Highly recommended if you want the true taste of France. I suggest booking as it is very busy so if you just turn up, you may not get a table.
G. S.
My partner and I came to Petit Pois with two friends, who had been every time they visited Brighton.
I knew the recommendation would be good, but wasn't quite expecting how good.
The menu isn't vast and yet still hard to decide what to order. They have a mixture of sharing charcuterie & cheese boards (and other smaller plates) as well as the choice of mains.
We decided to go for the boards and smaller plates (salt fish fritters where particularly good) and they were absolutely fantastic. Huge selection of meats arrived which went perfectly with the complimentary breads which were regularly replenished.
The cheeses came matched with chutneys and crackers and everything complimented each other perfectly.
The service however was close to perfect. The manageress was extremely attentive and yet not over
the top. You could tell she cared about the guests and their experience. Truly refreshing and her and the team really made the evening.
I can't wait to be back.
T. G.
Hard to believe this place hasn't got a Michelin star. Food is the best I ever had. Cheese is top quality, mains were delectably balanced and full of flavour, cooked perfectly.
I highly recommend the creme brulee. Staff are fantastic and friendly.
S. G.
Absolutely in love with this restaurant. First visit this weekend after living in the area for over 16 years, this is a reap hidden gem, it was one of the best meals I have ever had.
The food was incredible - great menu, locally sourced produce and a clearly talented chef.
The atmosphere and service was spot in and everything really well priced too, amazing value for money.
Can't wait to go back!
L. B.
Had a truly sensational meal at Petis Pois last week!
The staff were accommodating and knew the menu very well. The chalkboard of specials is delightfully rustic and changes frequently. The open pass humanises the chef and makes you feel very welcome. The only very minor downside was that they didn't have any draft beer to have with what was the best roast I've had all year, would be awesome to put a single tap in.
PS
The caviar ratio on the Bellini was perfect
10/10
O.
Amazing service, excelled food! We even got a Bday wishes with a lit up candle for our Boy's
first Bday as a surprise! We had a very pleasant time at the restaurant 😊
L. B.
Phenomenal restaurant. My wife and I had 3 courses each and every 1 was fantastic. Extremely good value for money and the service was excellent. Good varied menu including cheese, fish and meat with 1 of those of the best dessert selections I've seen. 100% go here if you can get a table!!
J.
Good service and friendly staff. Food nice, however, l had the monkfish and the portion size was ridiculously small, approx 3 ounces and not good value.
C. W.
Amazing French dishes with great prices and a lovely atmosphere. A hidden gem in Brighton that I recommend to everyone!
M. W.
Great food beautifully presented. Welcoming, friendly staff.
Looking forward to visiting again 😁
H. H.
Incredible meal and excellent prices we had the 3 course meal and it was fantastic! Would highly recommend, definitely the best French restaurant in Brighton.
P. H.
Outstanding, delicious food at reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere can't wait to go back
T. B.
One of my favourite restaurants in Brighton. Delicious food including a great selection of cheese and charcuterie. Friendly and attentive service. Would highly recommend.
R. F.
This was a flawless dining experience in every way! Every dish we had was absolutely beautifully presented and incredibly delicious! The service was spot on, genuinely friendly, honest and helpful but not overbearing. The price was brilliant, I would have happily paid £10-15 more for what we had and the overall experience. Obviously I couldn't recommend it enough. HAVE THE PORK CHEEK! <3
S.
Genuinely one of the best meals I've ever had. Menu is unbelievably reasonably priced for the QUALITY of food you get. Amazing. Will be returning soon.
If you only have 1 night in Brighton and want to support local independent business. Go to Petit Pois.
A.
Really nice food. I've never had frog legs and snails before and thought it was really nice. The duck was lovely too.
A. B.
We had a wonderful meal here recently - discovered it by accident, but glad we did, the best meal I’ve had all year, reasonably priced as well. We will be back!
J. E.
Very good authentic French food, great atmosphere, and very friendly staff.
S. E.
Went for early Sunday lunch with chums. Food and service excellent. Small very busy and noisy so not a place to spend too long but impressed with quality of food and choice. Good value too. Mussels recommended.
T. E.
A very cute restaurant, not the biggest but that made it even better!! Service was excellent and the food was even better!!
J. C.
I can’t fault a thing. Lovely food, great service. A great way to end our holiday
L. M.
Sunday roast was a masterpiece. Ambience, service, flavour, wine. Tick, tick, tick. Yes!!!
C. K.
Great service and really nice food. Not more no less. Will go back
L. t.
I love this place. Food exquisite, delicious, and sublime. Service top notch. Ambience cozy and delightful. Prices - gently perfect.
L. D.
Lovely restaurant with friendly staff and gorgeous food. Great for a vegan and non-vegan dining together as they have such a good menu. The vegetable tart was delicious and the complimentary appetiser was an added bonus. Would recommend.
J. L.
I have been in Brighton for a week with my best friend we have eaten out every night this has been a disaster every restaurant we have eaten in has been terrible horrible and expensive the regency was gross my fish was stinking the chips was the scrappings from the bottom of the fryer then we went to the marina to restaurant cafe rouge it was gross chips covered in salt squid swimming in grease and black my burger was cold so last night Thursday we we to petite pois restaurant french in ship street well fantastic from minute we walked in treated like royalty it was fantastic we both snails delish then I had lamb it was fantastic my friend hàd the duck gorgeous the chef's was amazing the servers very professional you must go what. A experience you will have a great time 😘
P. C. (.
Really good food, really reminded me of Paris. Fantastic service too, blonde lady was excellent
F. S.
The pub I work at (Brighton Tavern), all our regulars rave about this restaurant. We finally got a reservation for dinner. I was worried when we went as I hoped it would live up to its expectation. It was above and beyond my exception. The food was just amazing, and I could have eaten a big pot of the Crème Brûlée. The staff were lovely and so helpful. Petit Pois, I will visit again
R. B.
Found this place by surprise and it was such an awesome surprise, the food was fantastic and the staff really nice, I definitely recommend.
A. F.
Not as expected but still an enjoyable dining out experience. Don't fall for the patter that the choices on the menu are 'taster' meals, they are not, whilst only small portions if you purchase 2 or 3 portions the experience would be lost. Savour the small portions and don't over indulge on the tasty titbits, if you have a seat beside the open kitchen revel in the experience of the chef's enjoying what they are creating for the enjoyment of the diners. The interior design of the restaurant is also an experience, the randomly glazed wall tiles creating the effect of salvaged second hand brickwork looking like a run down old warehouse. I've seen it recreated in more Avant Garde locations possibly for a greater cost but here it adds to the image of this small but very delightful venue and dining experience.
M. C.
Went for a meal with my wife, nice relaxed atmosphere, delicious food and fantastic, kind service
S. C.
Fantastic food , lots of gluten free and gf options. Small but cosy with a good atmosphere. Certainly made to feel welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. A great Sunday lunch we would definitely return 😋
H.
Lovely little French restaurant where they serve some very delicious food. Although you may feel like the portions are a bit small if you love eating like me!
A. G.
Authentic French Restaurant in the heart of Brighton with a good wine selection. Most dishes contain meat or fish, as to be expected for a French restaurant. But they also have some good vegetarian dishes that I can recommend. (I'm a vegetarian myself.)
The portion sizes are small by British standards but normal by French standard. So exactly the right size.
The deserts are delicious and hard to resists. The chocolate fondant is worth the 15 minutes wait. 😉
They also have a quick menu for Lunch on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
PS: I recommend to reserve a table in advance.
S. T.
A fantastic dining experience. Intimate and mostly quiet. Fantastic food for a good price. As a lover of creme brulee, I was most pleased.

Went to Petit Poi for the first time today and had a delicious 3 course meal with wine. Every single mouthful was amazing and the service was excellent. Thank you petit poi, we will definitely be back. The food was absolutely superb! Beautifully cooked and presented in good size portions. Would highly recommend.
P. H.
Great food, incredible service and a wonderful atmosphere! Well worth a visit! Superb!
A. M.
I give the food 3 stars and the drinks 5 stars. We ordered a croquette starter which was nice but nothing special. For main course we had the boullabaisse and the cod with clams. Both came in a sauce that was too rich and salty to the point of being overpowering, also too acidic. I am not an expert but that's my thoughts. The wine was good and the best was the espresso Martini cocktail. Superb. We also got a little complimentary tomato soup before our starter which was a very nice touch and we enjoyed it. The service was very good and the staff very friendly. Shame about having to eat between two plastic sheets due to covid but still nice atmosphere in the restaurant. I will return and give the food another go and will definitely have another cocktail too.
S. V.
Friendly staff & enjoyed my experience here. Food came out on time and a traditional French menu. Loved the choices of starters! Slightly pricey drinks menu though.
A. R.
Excellent food. Very special place. Quality in all ways.
J. S.
Loved our romantic meal here. The staff were very friendly and food was delicious. We particularly enjoyed the escargot and pistachio ice cream. Only lost a star due to the limited cocktail menu.
S. F.
Interesting menu, a little noisy in this small dining area.
A. S.
Had a great meal at Petit Pois. Starters (goats cheese croquettes and frog legs) were really good and cooked perfectly. The beef short rib was amazing, perfectly cooked and great flavours. Overall good value for the quality of the food served and good service. Highly recommend it and will be coming back 😊
L. L.
Excellent Christmas lunch. Look forward to coming back soon.
R. S.
Exceptional cooking and service in this 30 or so cover restaurant. Really great buzz and all age ranges were here on a (full) Monday night. Hi-lights included the croquettes and the chocolate pudding!!
V. S.
Can honestly say the food was a pleasure to eat all three courses . Variety of dishes that were all well priced . Staff lovely and the ambience is spot on ,would have eaten here every day if we could have got in . Make sure you book early as it's a gem . Thankyou for a fantastic time and meal
M. M.
Managed to book the last table of the evening and so glad we did as it was an excellent meal! Attentive service, delicious food and reasonable pricing. Would certainly return next time we are in Brighton.
A. M. -. L.

Food was really lovely. Atmosphere and environment just right for a quiet, intimate but without airs meal. Covid set up reassuring and done right. Staff were brilliant, full of helpful guidance and not just going through the motions. Would happily return.
F. B.
The food was amazing and at a decent price, the staff were welcoming and very accommodating. They even helped to capture the moment I proposed to my partner for us.
One of my favourite places to eat, we will definitely be returning again.

We went a few weeks after lockdown was eased and this bijous restaurant had adapted really well despite it's small size. Fab menu - we actually had the roast so not particularly French but was the best roast I have had in years! Everything was good in here. Highly recommend.
s. c.
Great food and lovely staff. Would definitely go again!
A. B.
Wonderful little restaurant in Brighton. I loved the food - thank you!
A. S.
A little hidden gen, with the price of food very good for the quality of food being served. Very nice serving staff who were very friendly and attentive.
We had the Salt Cod Fritters and Duck ‘pate’ type starters. Both were lovely and the salt cod was not too salty as were feared.
For main we both had the Lamb rump, which is served pink and gorgeous. It comes with only a small portion of mash and some beans wrapped in bacon. We had added the mixed green vegetables which I would recommend as otherwise the main portion was a little small.
The menu is small but they do it well.
Our only criticism was the price of wine. The cheapest white wine was £23 and nothing special. We are not connoisseurs and been happy with a house wine at a more reasonable price. That would be our only hesitation about returning and hence 4 stars not 5.
J. D.
We had dinner here last night and the food was delicious. Four of us tried a number of dishes including meat/vegetarian starters, mains and desserts with every one of them tasting great. Lovely staff too!
A. A.
Wow, what a fantastic restaurant! First class food for a really fair price, deliciously balanced menu and spotless service (friendly all around and they went beyond to have me seated despite not having booked). Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of their menu
E. M.
Delicious food, friendly staff and good atmosphere. Went on a Friday evening so it was busy but didn't wait long for food or drinks service. They had a really nice, refined menu with some mouth watering dishes on offer. Only small negative was that the drinks seemed quite expensive. Would recommend for sure.
G. S.
I ate at Petit Pois last night with my partner and the food was excellent, the service was great. I ordered the Pork Belly and Prawn for the main and my partner ordered Duck with blood orange Jus, both delicious and didn't even exceed the 100 mark with a bottle of wine, 3 courses and 2 espresso's. It was busy so I would suggest booking in advance for any reservations during peak hours.
G. D.
This is a fantastic little find. Having taken parents and other half on a monday lunch time. Could not have been nicer staff, food was well presented, tastey and above expectations. Made us so welcome and service was spot on. Thank you
D. S.
Terrific service and lovely French cuisine.
P. D.
Delicious food, great atmosphere and super helpful staff! Perfect.
N. K.
Well deserving of its excellent reputation. We had an amazing meal, friendly and attentive staff and good value.
A. A.
I've been here several times and have enjoyed this contemporary restaurant every single time. Last week it was Mum's Birthday and our family booked a large table here to celebrate, it was fantastic, firstly the staff at Petit Pois took the time to make sure our booking requirements were perfect, checking we had the right seating for children as well as adults.
The meal was superb, several of us having the snails and frogs legs which were cooked to perfection as well as everything else that followed- (where I can highly recommend the pistachio ice cream, which we have all been dreaming about since)!! Petit Pois is a small and intimate restaurant, but every attention to detail was given to our meal as we were a large party. Contemporary menus, clean environment and facilities, great service and overall welcoming staff, it is clear this restaurant cares about its food and customers very much.
D. D.
Omg ~🤗🤗🤗😍 Birthday treat, and I was royally treated. Intimate space, without feeling crowded. Superb level of service and the food is simply delicious and delightful. Not overpriced for the fabulous range of quality ingredients and the love and expertise the chefs put into them. It's the kind of place I would love to eat in every week as I am sure it would never disappoint and you are not hurried or told there's to be another sitting
R. S.
Lovely atmosphere, *really* good food (smaller dishes, but the waiters did prime us to this point and suggest pairing with a salad).
Staff were friendly, and there's definitely a strong french feeling to the restaurant (from some of the staff, to the wine, to the boards with menu items).
J. W.
Stumbled upon this place by accident, only in Brighton for 48 hours, was able to get an early eve table for the next night. First time trying snails and frogs legs yummy! Relaxed atmosphere, quick efficient service. I can see why it's in Brighton's top 20 restaurants for 2 years running. Definitely worth a visit. We will back .
j. v.
So good to have a French restaurant with a choice of vegan options. Also delicious wines and lovely staff. Great little restaurant. Look forward to going back!
A. C. H.
they were a bit busy with bigger groups and families when i visited, so being the only single patron there i had to try to get their attention so they knew i was ready to order, but apart from that their food was great, the ambience was nice and i would say reasonably priced too. would love to visit again one day!
A. V.
amazing food and great atmosphere. Prices are very low for such a great quality and beautiful food. The only one thing - it would be nice for staff to get a little training on cheese, it was embarrassing when I have heard how somebody asked what region cheese Livarot comes from and both of the staff members answered " I have no idea". You, guys, sell authentic cheese and you have to know basic info like that or at least make an effort and say " I will double check", go at the back and google :) but this is just a comment. Your food, customer service and atmosphere is SUPERB
L. V.
Absolutely wonderful restaurant, with charming staff and a fabulous menu. Between us we had 6 very affordable and extremely delicious dishes, including 4 different kinds of meat, each of which was perfectly cooked, including a melt-in-the-mouth cuttlefish. Highly recommended!
h. d.
A pleasant French restaurant in the middle of Brighton. A good choice on offer which was reasonable in price. Seemed very popular with the place packed out with diners the night I went.
S.
Food was great. Limited menu, but all cooked beautifully. Snails and frogs legs great. Bouillabaisse excellent, lamb and duck perfectly cooked. Service a tad slow, but very busy. Booking essential. Will return.
X. H.
Service is warm and solicitous. The wine list is just long enough to be interesting, and the menu had a great selection of French classic dishes. My pork loin and side root vegetables and cauliflower were well prepared and well presented. 2 glasses of Cotes du Rhone went down well. Lastly, my dessert, chocolate fondant with pistachio ice cream was exquisite. Thank you for an excellent post Brighton marathon meal.
C. D.
Had a delicious meal; escargot and frog leg guijons, followed by lamb with some vegetables, and a delicious pear and apple crumble for dessert. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and all told it's pretty good value for money, considering the quality of food and service, and the location.
L. J.
we wanted something from an indi Brighton restaurant as a treat, we ordered a takeaway, turned up to collect and it was ready dead on time, that’s impressive on its own. When we got home and sat down to eat we were blown away. How does anyone get vegetables perfect in a takeaway?these were. My hubby had beef cheeks I had pork belly. We both sat there eating with our eyes closed, it all just all tasted so good, you know how you eat really slowly to make it last longer? Yer we were doing that. The cheesecake desert tasted lovely too, and looked like a little crown with sliced Strawberries around the edge.
So this Friday came round and we are back again, we’re trying frogs this time, a first for us both but if it’s anything like last weeks we’ll be blown away again. I can’t wait until they are open to eat in.
J. H.
Fabulous food, great service with a nice ambience in a very busy restaurant.
Nice selection of classic french dishes using fresh ingredients and well preparedserved by efficient friendly staff. The only disappointment was the wine all looked expensive for Brighton and the bottle of Muscadet that we had at £35-00 was very average and most definitely not worth the money. Deserts limited selection but all great flavours
F. P.
Last minute booking on a Sunday evening. The food and drink was tremendous and that staff were incredibly. Will definitely be back!
O. L.
Good French restaurant in Brighton, and although their entrées had only one vegan selection, they were happy to modify the dishes to accommodate me. It is a bit pricey, but that's what you'd expect in such a place. The waitress was very professional.
S. L.
This is an excellent restaurant with good quality and tasty French food. Price level is reasonable given the quality. Portion size is perfectly OK for a fine-dining place like this, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They also have a menu section for children, with smaller kids-size portions that do not compromise on the quality. This makes the place suitable for the whole family.
M. W.
I couldn't say a bad thing about this place. The roasts were amazing and the desserts phenomenal! It is perfectly priced. I can't wait to go back and work my way through the menu.
O.
This place is a must visit, really special place. Great!
B. H.
A cosy, intimate and lively French restaurant with the most attentive and enthusiastic service, that makes you feel so valued and welcome. The food is superb. It's cool interior is a good venue choice when central Brighton gets hot in the summer. The seafront is literally at the end of the short street - perfect for a post dinner stroll. Good choice if you are looking for somewhere to take a small group of friends or double date. Weekends are particularly lively and get booked up quickly, so it is advisable to reserve a table. The ambiance seems best suited to friends/foursomes rather than a romantic date.
A. P.
We collected a meal from Petit Pois during lockdown. We have eaten here before and were so pleased to be able to place an order for a special occasion. All of the food was delicious and beautifully presented in spite of the obvious challenges. We are really grateful that they were able to get up and running again and we look forward to eating in, when we are able to.
C. E.
Some of the best food we have ever had, brilliant service and a great atmosphere! We will definitely come back again!
H. J.
Superb in every way.
This is a wonderful addition to the Brighton eating community. The food is imaginative and well presented, following the current fashion for small plates. They are however not tiny!
Great food great service and excellent value for money. Booking essential though.
J. B.
Fantastic food, wine and service. A bargain given the quality of the food! We had the steak tartar, roast pork belly (Sunday roast menu), the duck, and the trio of creme brulees to finish. All were amazing, particularly the pork belly.
A.
Petit Pois is a fine-dining experience at a very reasonable price. The food, wine and service are all excellent. The vegan roast is my favourite in Brighton.
C. C.
What a find got taken here as a birthday celebration, what an awesome place, fantastic food, the cod bites and spacey salsa were incredible, the steak just melted in your mouth, and pudding, you have to have the tarte a tartan it's amazing. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back. But you must book.
R. M.
Lovely food, lovely wine and great value. The front of house staff were all really nice and extremely accomodating of our plans for a birthday surprise. Highly recommend this lovely little spot in the Laines and will definitely be going back - if we can get a table!
J. S.
Incredible food from start to finish.
The snails, the bouillabaisse and the chocolate fondant were all on point and delicious
D. K.
Best resturant in Brighton hands down. I come here from London basically just to eat at this resturant.
Chef is a wizard he manages to make simple dishes almost fine dining and the flavours he creates are uncomparable.
The best thing is this resturant is extremely affordable. If this was in Central London your looking at £80-100 ahead. I wont forget to mention his kids menu is also brilliant.
Great friendly staff and brilliant restuarant its a must if coming to Brighton.
E. T.
Absolutely fantastic. Service was amazing, the food was SO good and the prices are incredible for the quality and flavour of the dishes. A great french gem, goat cheese croquettes were a highlight, the fish was so well cooked and the creme brulee was delish!! Can’t wait to to back
A. I.
Absolutely fantastic experience in Petit Pois. The food was beautiful, house languedoc red delicious and the chocolate truffles were out of this world. All very reasonable. We nearly ordered too much food but our waitress kindly advised us of this which was great service.
i. k.
Friendly family run restaurant with good food and wine. I found it a bit over the top for Coronavirus protection with plastic shields between tables and staff still wearing masks. This makes me worry more than feel reassured, but you cannot blame them for being careful.
A. B.
Any restaurant that achieves an average rating of 4.8 based on over 250 reviews is likely to be very special - and did not disappoint. I’m only sorry that I don’t know Paris well enough to proclaim Petit Pois ‘better than most Parisian restaurants’ but it was certainly better than all the French restaurants I have been to in the UK - except Le Manoir I guess!! Absolutely amazing bread basket with fishy dip and butter, then had a beef dish: meat seasoned to perfection and the best tasting (albeit probably not very healthy!) green vegetables tossed in garlic butter ever! To complete the experience, I had the sorbet: apple, apricot and grapefruit flavour....about all I could fit in after the food I had already eaten. Not cheap, but very good value for money when you consider the quality. It has probably been my best meal all year.
g.
Quite possibly best French food restaurant in Brighton. Mother's day treat and we were treated like royalty by the staff. The food is stunning/out of this world, we sampled frogs legs and snails and they were c'est formidablè! Roasts are incredible, couldn't get enough, and the wine all served at perfect temperature. This is a 6 star restaurant, emphatically recommended.
Z. C.
In Brighton for a couple of days, stumbled in looking for food and warmth. The most wonderful food, attentive service but not too intrusive. The duck rillettes were delicious. Actually every dish was, and the prices were surprisingly low. Would happily recommend.
N. G.
Salt cod fritters and goat's cheese croquettes. Quail and duck. First class food and cooking and excellent service.
J. L.
The staff were very warm and friendly, and the food was on point. Portion sizes are a little small, but that makes it ideal for sampling many dishes. Would recommend trying the halibut and beef tatare.
N. R.
I had a really good experience in Petit Pois. The staff is really nice and the place is cosy, clean and pleasant. The food was excellent, I had the bream fillet ratatouille and it was spot on, full of flavour and I also enjoyed the side green vegetables. Even the toilet was lovely and clean. Well done!
S. M.
Everything was perfect, including the service. I had the pork belly Sunday roast for my main, and it was the best pork belly I have ever had. We will definitely be back when we next visit Brighton.
D. C.
Easy, simple and good food. Staff was also lovely.
Get a window seat, they give you a more French experience.
K. R.
Food was excellent and very reasonable. Staff very attentive. Every effort made to keep customers safe. I can highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return.
D. O.
Fantastic restaurant. Wish I had eaten here before. The food was amazing and the staff friendly and welcoming. Everything was absolutely delicious. The price was also good and affordable for lunch.
C. G.
Excellent French cuisine with varied menu, food wine selection and good service. Four of us visited for a celebration and loved the food and wine. Not cheap but not expensive. Cosy inside but good air con and lively atmosphere. Recommended!
T. E.
A fantastic place! We really enjoyed our lunch last Saturday. Great helpful staff and wonderful selection of food. Al cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back and wish the place every success 👍👍
S. D.
Great atmosphere and wonderful food. Very reasonably priced for the quality and service on offer. Gluten free options were a real bonus for us
M. M.
I've been here twice now with my family and both times it has been excellent. They offer great hospitality and friendly service. The food is well executed and I'd definitely recommend it for a group event.
M. C.
This Old Bird and her daughter and 3 year old grandson ate here on the rainiest Thursday night in Brighton. Menu fab so I won't dwell on that but what was fabulous was to find a childrens menu that actually ackowledged that children have taste buds. Have to say we finished off the little guy's banger but he eat our mange tout so a fair trade off. Lovely patron and staff.......
A. P.
Purely brilliant French cuisine. Nice little setting with fantastic service , food, cheese, and wine selection. One of the best restaurants I've been to in Brighton and I'll definitely return.
S. W.
Superb food, amazing service. My new favourite Brighton restaurant! We will be back!

J. S.

J. W.
Have been to Petit Pois a few times and has NEVER disappointed! The roast has fast become our favourite roast in town. Lovely stuff!
F. Z.
I came here with my father for a relaxing catch-up meal as it was very close to the hotel he was staying in and on such a cold evening we didn't fancy walking too far....luckily we didn't have to and stumbled upon this absolute gem of a place! The atmosphere inside is very cosy and friendly, not too large or small and lovely warm staff who were very knowledgable on the menu. The food......oh my goodness the FOOD! I can hardly even describe how delicious it all was, every single aspect of it. Between us we had the fish soup, scallops, squid, a side of veggies and a bread basket which came with homemade garlic butter and a pot of smoked mackerel, and of course wine! Every single mouthful was bursting with flavour, yet not fussy or over-the-top. The soup was divine - perfectly smooth and rich and was informed it takes 2 days to cook, which you can definitely tell. We topped the meal off with coffee and a small selection of desserts consisting of a fresh chocolate truffle, a macaroon and a creme brulee. All completely delicious. Already looking forward to going back, merci beaucoup!
A. E.
Just perfect! The food was excellent, the service was great and the place is very nice as well! Totally recommendable
J. R.

G. K.
Booked a table here on the recommendation of a friend, so happy she suggested the place! The quality of the food is great, the service and staff were very attentive and friendly, great overall experience.
B. M.
Fantastic food, nice atmosphere, the only thing stopping five stars was a slightly ropey Malbec
J. R. (.
Good product and very good presentation of French dishes. More caricature french dishes (like frog leg for example) but nice.
The waiters are very nice.
A little shame to pay the bread in a restaurant who pretend to be French...
M. R.
Really nice meal. Friendly and knowledgeable staff
c. m.
Great food, great service... I'm coming back soon!!!
L. A.
OMG totally amazing! Food was divine, service was excellent, and atmosphere and decor really set it all off. A real little gem tucked away in the laines. Would highly recommend and I will be back in the future.
J. B.
I love this place. One of the best in the area. French tapas and non-tapas dishes. Great roast on Sunday. Don't be fooled by the restaurants nearer the shops - they're not a patch on this gem.
S.
Straight away warm friendly atmosphere, service was absolutely spot on and the food was exceptional one of the best meals out I've ever had.
B. R. H.
Small in size but huge in hospitality family restaurant which prepares traditional French cuisine. Minimalist in decoration, but nevertheless the restaurant feel is inviting and cosy. Food tasty, served with love and smile.
J. F.
Amazing new restaurant serving French equivalent to 'Tapas'. Exquisite dishes. Stuffed squid, snails, duck, scallops etc! Superb! I wish you well in your new venture.
a. s.
I had a really good meal here after being disappointed by bella italia and walking out. The Beef sunday roast was delicious and good portion size. The service was exemplary and the cleanliness was very good.
B.
Wow.
Apart from the great bistro food, slightly 'French' service, and brilliant wine list. What can you say?
Great value for money.
Have been back a number of times already.

Busy vibrant and it was nice to see the chefs at work. I had sirloin of beef with pommes boulangere which was excellent. However the portions were small especially with the deserts.
