This is a stand out restaurant with a spectacular elevated view. The clam chowder hits the spot on a windy day. We had the grilled octopus and calamari. The bread basket came with 4 condiments! We also had a crisp South African wine which was recommended by our server. Service was prompt and friendly. Highly recommend this place.

We visited the other location in town a few months ago and were completely blown away, so decided we had to check out the beach front restaurant too..... Long story short, it is sublime. Still one of the best restaurants I've ever been to anywhere in the world. The best food and drinks coupled with the nicest and friendliest of expert staff. An absolute must visit if you like seafood!

Our server Reece was very attentive and every dish was a 10/10! I’d recommend the apple scallops & Dover sole but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. They also bring you a bread basket with lovely dips such as market pate which is a lovely touch.

Loved this small restaurant. Food was very good. Bit of a weird way they seat you together on the same side of the table so be prepared to talk with guest across the other side of your table. There's no private tables. They do not have reservation system walk ins and an online waiting list...so again a little different, if your hungry you may have to wait an hour n half for a notification by then there is so much other choices you would have eaten elsewhere. However if you like seafood it's worth the wait!

We ate here, and had a small dog so had to sit outside. This was mid November and it was 12C outside, however the heaters on either side were so warm we could take our jackets off. Was amazing to be in winter, sitting outside with views over the beach! The service was excellent. It was slightly slow for the food to come out (we were there 2.5 hours) but for us that was ok. No reservations, walk ins only - though a fairly good chance of getting a table of willing to sit outside, which for us was amazing as the tables of 4 are right near the heaters. If for 2, not sure if it'll be colder or not as they were on the outside. They do provide blankets also. The food here is simply amazing. Seafood is fresh and delicious and everything was done well, the desserts were great too. Pictures are the crab, seafood linguine, lobster thermador, and halibut. Highly recommend this place!

The food here was pretty good, although the risotto could have done with more flavour. However, the service was fantastic. We were served by Reece who was very welcoming, friendly and attentive. He even gave our chihuahuas some attention which they appreciated. The location was great, a terrace overlooking the beach, and in the shade. It was perfect.

Riddle & Finns is an amazing group of restaurants. The Beach location really is perfect for celebrating a special occasion. The drinks menu was varied and the cocktails were excellent and the food offering was so delicious. My favourite dish would have to be the pan fried scallops. I definitely recommend going, even if table booking isn't available it is worth trying your luck on the waiting list.

Amazing restaurant with a great view. The food is fresh and you have several options also from the catch of the day. We've got the Seafood Linguini, simply fantastic and generous portion. Good options also for kids. The staff was super kind and helpful. I'll back for sure at Riddle & Finns!

What can I say about this place, it was awesome, best seafood meal I've had, from oysters, halibut and our dessert, it was all very gorgeous. Even the cider was lovely, I was worried about what to drink with my meal, especially as I don't drink wine but the cider went well with my dish. The service was second to none in what was a busy time for them, they were very attentive in looking after us. I would definitely recommend eating there and will go back the next time I'm in Brighton.

On arrival was greeted by a waitress then the manager who showed me to my table, great spot overlooking the sea. Menu and service was excellent, fresh bread with choise of toppings before my order of seafood linguini which was superb. Sparkling water came with the two waitresses sparkling smiles. Will definitely eat here again. Great food, great staff, well done to the management at this seaside restaurant.

We were on our way to eat at another place but couldn't resist the urge to take a look inside. I am so glad I did. We had a spontaneous but excellent meal today. Fantastic experience we really enjoyed our meal here yesterday evening. We were recommended to try it by our hotel which was Hotel Du Vin Brighton when we asked for seafood restaurant recommendations. Lovely atmosphere, attentive service and high quality of food and drinks. Even the mocktails were absolutely lovely and you could see that a lot of thought and care were put into them which isn’t always the case even in some of the top restaurants we usually visit. Even the bread basket was beautifully thought through and well presented. We enjoyed the commune table aspect of it which made the experience different to the usual dinner out. Will definitely visit again next time we are in Brighton. Thank you!

Despite living in Hove and walking up and down this part of the beach, as soon as I walked in I felt as if I was in some exotic holiday location. A bit pricey but generally well worth it. Excellent food, very good & friendly service, & a splendid location/view. Beware of the website which tells you the address is 65 Kings Road. It is not somewhere up the inland bit of Kings Road at all, but between the beach & the western extension of Marine Parade (which goes here by the alias of Kings Road). Easy to find if you know this.

Just sitting outside watching the sun slowly disappear over the horizon. This reminds me of Barcelona beach as the sun sets over its 'W-Hotel' although not quite as warm but still a delightful experience, missing it as each day goes by, will be back there soon. The staff are a delight to chat to, they seem to enjoy their work, the restaurant and the location as much as we did. Majority of the menu is from the sea, fish, shellfish and more fish! All perfectly cooked and presented, the squid is to die for, cooked in several different ways for you to choose and enjoy. The location, in a refurbished architectural gem with high level views like the head of a pier, a recent location from the few other locations it has been located at but this one having prominent seaside aspects of the Brighton promenade.

We had great service at Riddle & Finn's. The oysters were delicious and my husband enjoyed the GF Scallops as a starter and the GF Smoked Haddock for his dinner. My son also really liked the Clam Chowder. He and I shared the Halibut for dinner. It was good. Just a little too salty, which is surprising for me to say since everyone jokes that we salt everything. The prawns starter was overcooked and tasted of oil and the calamari was mediocre. Overall, I am not sure if we would dine here again. For the price, it didn't leave us wanting more.

Great spot for a meal, good food. Although it could be heavy on the pocket. Seating is a challenge for the staff to manage so tables indoors are shared with other customers. The food is great so worth visiting.

Made a reservation about a week in advance online. They gave us a really nice seat, with an excellent view of the beach and sea. The service from the waiting staff was excellent, and the food was on another level! Not only did everything taste good, but the portions were large too. We haven't booked any table but the guy found a place very nice/see view where to sit. Good choice of wine, even if more of them were French (nothing against French wines but nowadays we have a lot of choices). Many choices of oysters that were very fresh and nice. The tuna tartare was very good too. If you're looking for a nice and romantic dinner in front of the see with your partner, then this is your place (take with you a light jacket, you might need it in the evening)

The king of seafood on the seafront. This is a top notch little place with an absolutely top view and atmosphere. But be warned it's not exactly cheap and it's very hard to get a table in good weather.

Amazing scenery and fresh seafood. Crab was ok but the scallops are definitely must try. If you are eating such seafood would highly recommend to be seated indoors as there are lots of bugs that will come flying around and on you. Service was patient and attentive. The female staffs were friendly.

Brilliant experience and incredible food. The restaurant was really accommodating with several changes I made to the booking and very helpful with answering all my questions about social distancing etc (all very reassuring on the measures they’ve taken to protect their staff and diners). It was the first restaurant I visited after lockdown, and it was worth the wait!

Food and staff great, however, you have to share tables with others if you are less than 8, so you could be sitting right next to, and right infront of people. So if you want a personal chat for eg, it's a bit uncomfortable in that scence. There is also quite a loudness to the restaurant, clanky, due to its construction.... but it's wonderful food and drinks and staff, so if the above doesn't bother u, I'd recommend the other bits! X

The place to go for a menu full of seafood and fish. We had a table full of starters as the choice was just fantastic and couldn't decide on a single plate. Great variety of wines, soft drinks, coffee and teas as well. Kids meals available and great for singles to families. Book in advance as they get full really quickly and stay full. If you are sitting outside at The Beach take a hat or shade as the sun hits you directly across the ocean. Worth the view though

Its my first visit since they moved location. Riddles and Finns is an excellent fish restraint, the quality of the food and the service just hit the mark perfectly. Its relaxed atmosphere with waiters that have the perfect blend of friendliness, attentiveness and professionalism. FABULOUS. Always has been good in both locations but this new venue is superb. Excellent service as always and superb food and wine. Fantastic 180 degree uninterupted views out over the sea, with alfresco dining available during good weather. This place is absolutely the best venue in Brighton and maybe on the South Coast. Can not recommend this restaurant more highly. Two people, a dozen oysters, 2 halibut and a couple of glasses of champagne £125.inc service 12.5% So not inexpensive but fabulous.

You can't book but we were super lucky to be passing an hour before we wanted to eat so checked the situation and the next table wasn't free for another hour so it worked perfectly. Very good service, excellent views across the beach and sea, very nice. Food is extremely good, only comment is that if you want lobster get a whole one, as they're a tad small, a half lobster went in seconds (it felt like). We had 3 courses for two of us, one soft drink and a bottle of decent wine, bill was £125 inc a fixed 12.5% service charge. Waiter was a really nice chap. Toilets are a bit of a bottle neck, there's just two and the one I went in was showing the strain of non stop use, small things like floor tiles lifting, a bit messy; needs a bit of TLC.

Absolutely stellar place. I enjoyed everything about it - the vibe, the service, the drink and, the best part of course, the food. I found it to be a much smaller venue than I was expecting but certainly not cramped or anything like that - it was very cosy. At first I was a little bit doubtful about the communal table setup but once you're seated you're a world apart enjoying the company your with but with the buzz of other diners around you. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. Can't recommend this place enough if you're in Brighton.

I’m vegan, but went here with my mum and step dad. Expected average food for myself as vegan option was a curry. Omg! Delicious curry. Also I asked if chef could make up anything as a starter for me as nothing on menu. They did a STUNNING pine nut dressed salad with potato, sweet potato, broccoli and med veg. I really suggest they put this on the menu as it was as good as anything you get in a vegan restaurant. Fish eaters also very happy it goes without saying. They had calamari, seafood linguine and whole crab.

I went to Riddle&Finns yesterday, all staffs were super friendly, and the food was tasty. We ordered four main courses. All seafoods were fresh. Strongly recommend the seafood linguine and risotto, the whole crab was bigger than I thought, a very big dish actually 😄 Strongly recommend this restaurant for anyone who will go to Brighton.

My past experiences of Riddle & Finns have always been spot on and my first choice as a birthday/anniversary treat. Loved being able to book at The Beach venue or take a chance in the cosy Lanes. Turned up to the new Shelter Hall location. A large queue but we could see it was mostly empty inside, so we waited 35 minutes and when near the door we overheard the family in front of us being told they could sit down but it would be 1hr 20min wait to actually order food once seated! Why not tell people further along in the queue this instead of waiting until they’ve already queued for a significant amount of time? We diligently informed the people behind us and quite a few people left, as did we... luckily The Copper Clam had a cancellation. The 3 stars here are purely a reflection of the food, as I know it to be fantastic. Taking away the option of booking at one of the locations means we’re unlikely to dine here again, which is such a shame. Please bring it back for one of the locations!

Being a complete numpty we arrived at the wrong Riddle & Finn and was greeted by a friendly lady called Sally who despite my error managed to accommodate us with a table. Sally was also our waitress and was clearly knowledgeable in the menu and the food. She made us feel extremely welcome and made our stay very enjoyable. The food was sublime, the drinks were amazing and our whole experience made for a very special night. All of the staff were friendly and I could see they worked hard to enhance guest experience. So thank you Sally and team for giving us an amazing time. We will be back.

But the reason I’m unlikely to go back anytime soon is the bizzare refusal to take bookings, making it impossible to plan an evening. Why? ‘Casual dining’ and people wandering in off the street is a nice goal but anybody wandering in off the street here is promptly told to wander off again for an hour or more before they have any chance of getting a table. Are customers that are happy to show up, queue, then go to a pub for an indeterminate period of time before dinner somehow more worthy of Riddle and Finn’s marvellous oysters than people who might like to wait at home until it’s time to leave for dinner? I genuinely find it baffling that a restaurant is happy to make their customers lives that much more awkward and inconvenient and I can only ascribe to either total naïveté about what makes for a fun evening, or sheer pretentiousness. This may seem like a petty rant, but if you’d shown up on a warm evening at 7pm then been sent away til 8:30 by which time it was freezing cold and only offered a seat on an inexplicably unheated terrace because indoor tables had an even longer wait, then rushed through your meal because it was so cold you couldn’t feel your hands, you’d not be in a hurry to come back either. Just take bookings and this won’t be an issue.

Lived up to expectations We booked for lunch after having to cancel a few times due to various reasons including Covid. The service was spot on , friendly, efficient etc. The Poole Bay Oysters were incredible (and huge!) the wine was fabulous. A first rate treat enjoyed by both of us.

We (family of 5 adults) had a good meal at Riddle and Finns at the beach. Really warm welcome and they remembered it was my wife’s birthday. A lot of the food was excellent - the sea bream and the sea food pasta - but a couple of the dishes were a bit tasteless - ie the tuna tartare. The service was a little patchy. Some of the staff were very good but others not so attentive and a few things were forgotten. Overall a good experience; pretty expensive but the food was good value (£13 for a cocktail is a bit steep). Would return or try the one in the Lanes.

We have been going to Riddle and Finns on the beach for fifteen years, but our latest visit was exceptional. We both chose the Special Starter and it was extraordinary - smoked salmon with crispy poached egg which was outstanding. We then both had mains which we have ordered many times before. Jan had Singapore style wok-fried crab. I had the roast halibut, Both dishes have been so good in the past that they are ones that we order regularly - though we do vary our orders because we are frequent visitors. So what was different ? Difficult to put a finger on it but both dishes were prepared with an extra je ne sais quoi ! Sounds pretentious but it is true. The halibut was cooked to perfection, as usual, but the sauce was even better than usual and the veg were a delight. The crab had more sauce (quantity) and and a better sauce (quality ) that we were used to. A great bottle of Picpoul and Marco as our waiter - not many Brighton restaurants have a cheerful Sardinian waiter like Marco. At the risk of ruining our favourite restaurant in the UK with too many bookings - but with the spirit of encouraging good seafood cooking - I cannot recommend this place too highly.

We had the most amazing dinner here. I don't know how you can give it anything but 5 stars. The starters we had were particularly good: we had the lemon & parsley scallops and the giant gambas (see photos). For the main we had the halibut which was also excellent and the monkfish curry which was good but not mind blowing. The service was also excellent! The only annoying thing is that you can't book a table and you have to leave your name and you get called when a table is free. We went around 6.45 and had to wait for 1.45h. My advise would be to get there early. So yummy though that it was worth the wait!
