I actually quite liked this pub, in a Hoxton sort of way. Decor a little contrived but still very good. Appears the sort of place you'd take your parents for Sunday lunch the first time they visit you when you move to Brighton, rather than a real local. Beers more expensive than many even in the city centre. Whatever incense or air freshener they use is very overwhelming, but I quit liked it. Guinnes £5.30 whilst many in Brighton charge £5

Came here for a Sunday roast with friends. Nice atmosphere and pretty spacious. The roasts were of generous portion size, the meat was nicely cooked. The only let down was that it was covered in peas, which I don't think have any place on a roast. Maybe that's just me?! They weren't on the menu either. Will definitely go again but ask for no peas next time!

Love it... we all know it's tough with covid restrictions making a visit to the pub 'different' still, but the team at the Signalman are always smiling and welcoming. The peace garden is lovely when the sun is out and the marquee space has a festival vibe. Food is consistently delicious. The team are lovely- Great local pub. We feel lucky to have them on our door step.

This was our second visit in a couple of weeks and the food was just as good this time as last. It takes a bit of getting used to ordering on their app, especially as the menu on the table is never quite the same as the food available on the app, which is confusing, but we had a lovely evening and will definitely return.

We had a small celebration event at the Signalman this week. We were given our own area out the back in the Peace Garden which was wonderful and everyone in the party said the food was delicious. As far as safety goes I feel the team have thought of EVERYTHING and it felt like one of the safest / well thought out pubs i've been to in Brighton while we are under restrictions. Romy and her team could not have been more helpful before the booking on the day making sure we had our own space and then accommodating us in the main garden once the little one closed. We felt very looked after indeed! I couldn't recommend this place enough. Well done Romy and team!

A regular customer at the Signalman, it's a very good pub with fantastic service, large areas of seating with heaters and at the moment a very safe COVID friendly way of ordering. Staff are all very kind and helpful. What more could you ask from a pub!

Sunday Roast by ‘The Pickled Oyster’ Between us we had Lamb, Beef, Veggie & Vegan all excellent. Generous portions and tasty. Once the app’s going and populated with correct drinks menu it’s pretty slick. Actual table booking is a little laggy using the web, but not a show stopper. Will visit again.

Really attractive pub with two big gardens and a cosy traditional interior. Staff were friendly, but probably could've been quicker to serve drinks. We had to order online from our tables, which is fine, but we could see most of the staff were chatting around the bar instead of getting the rounds out ASAP. Drink selection was ok, bit on the pricey side. Would still recommend as a good COVID safe pub for the warmer weather!

The team at Signalman have done an amazing job during Covid to accommodate as many people as they can in an organised and safe way. The outdoor areas are spaced out really well and the food is so good! The people that work there are so friendly and I love going there as often as possible. Would highly recommend. You can book super easily through their website and the team there will reply to email with any questions as quickly as they can.

One of the best pub Sunday lunches I've ever eaten; I had the pork belly. The beef and chicken were apparently excellent as well. Good beers and wine too - must have been: we stayed 6 hours!

I went here last month and loved it. Food is really good, liked the menu options and great selection of beer. Only thing is that you have to order online and wait so service is very slow. I understand things have changed during the pandemic but would be great if you can order drinks at least and then order food online. Would make life easier. I went again recently and it was so slow, couldn't bother to wait! Hope the management can make things better.

I love this pub. Pretty (especially with the twinkly lights at night), stylish, restful and spacious. Friendly and helpful staff. Food served quickly: very nice chips, and a generous portion. Unfortunately, the pea and courgette fritters were rather unpleasant, and not what I expected. Will be back....for something else on the menu!

Very nice pub. Decent choice of drinks and snacks. I've never had a proper meal here. There quite a bit of indoor seating where it is nice and warm. There is also a garden with a fair amount of seating however it does get very busy in the summer. I come here semi-regularly. I would deffo go back and recommend it others.

Quite a nice pub to go to for eating food as it’s got a South African twist I believe, but it’s a shame they ripped out the play equipment very soon after they revamped the garden space and put that facility in. Made it more family friendly and restauranty for a short period rather than a general pub.

This is my local. A lovely little pub about half way up Ditchling Rise. Had my first roast there today and it was very tasty. Well worth the £8.95 that I paid. They always have 3 to 4 different ales on as well as the usual lagers. An excellent wood fire burns brightly during the winter to really make you feel at home. All in all a very welcoming pub with a very jolly landlord by the name of Tom. Keep a lookout for the miny ale and cider festivals they hold. They also have a large beer garden.

My local Pub in Brighton for years. Changed all the time. What never changed was how nice the staff and place in general was. One of the few places from Brighton I will never forget. An extensive array of beers to choose from, local and otherwise - artisanal too - as well as a great selection of spirits. Also, the best Pub Food you can have in a 5km. Pork Belly and the Sunday roasts are a must. And you cand pre-book the TV and a front seat to your favourite football game. Highly recommended of course!

Went into the signalman for some lunch. Had the pork and black pudding scotch egg to start, chicken with Boulangere potatoes, mushroom sauce and bacon salt and topped it off with treacle tart and a ball of Guinness ice cream. Couldn't find a fault at all, all hearty and delicious. Highlights for me personally were the bacon salt and Guinness ice cream. Also if you have the classic cheap supermarket scotch egg as your representation of a scotch egg COME HERE!! Definitely recommend this to my friends and will be returning.
