Door held open upon arrival by the owners. Very very warm welcome given by waiting staff and owners, shown to tables allowed to choose which they even cleaned one especially in the corner for us. Then had a little chat with waitress owner, We were choosing a mid range wine but were recommended A lower priced one. And she was spot on. The Verdejo was delicious! Menus where brought, everything on there sounded amazing. We chose a few starters to share, scallops and squid, both of them superb; and few mains with sprouts and the crab fries to die for. Mussels were fantastic and the sauce was amazing

The Copper Clam served very fresh and good food, we had a bad experience at another seafood restaurant by Brighton earlier so we weren't expecting much from this place as it didn't have many people eating, we were surprised at how good it was! However, the service at the beginning was very slow and we had to ask for the menus so it didn't seem welcoming for us. The food also took long to come out but that's fine as long as the food is cooked well!

Nice food and good ambience by the sea! Fit us as we are looking for a quiet place. Love the oysters and family appreciate truffle on the menu! Surprisingly good restaurant on Brighton (lower) seafront. Table booked at The Copper Clam for Saturday lunch service. Relatively high prices were fully matched with quality food (mostly seafood) that you might not expect in such a touristy area. Seating inside and outside (if you like watching people go by). Fish stew with bread was excellent, not too fishy or too much tomatoe, but very tasty. Others enjoyed king prawns, sea bass, monkfish, and sirloin steak dishes. Service for us was very good. A slight error on the bill was quickly rectified. I think we all agreed that this was an excellent seafood restaurant.

Lovely little restaurant along the seafront. Oysters were lovely. To be honest, not the largest or best oysters we've had, but was nice for a snack. Fairly extensive wine list. Would visit again & try some of the other dishes.

I have been here a few times when I visited Brighton and it’s never disappointed. Service is good and waiting staff is friendly. Lobster platter is good and highly recommend. Especially on a Sunny day enjoying your seafood with a bottle of wine by the beach! Try the crab chips too! Food 8/10, service 8/10, ambience 8/10, value for money 8/10.

Having been so disappointed in our quest for Turbot at The Salt Room, and the subsequent debacle there the previous evening, we lucked-out by wandering past the Copper Clam just as they were opening for lunch, where Turbot was on the specials list. We got a window table in the very cosy upstairs dining room and had two excellent grilled whole Turbot (on the bone, obvs), some excellent chips and a good portion of Garlic, Pickle, Lemon, Chilli and Pine Nuts Broccoli, all washed down by a couple of glasses of peppery Merlot. Home-made ice cream followed for dessert and the whole lot came to just over £44 per head. Very pleasant, polite service rounded off an excellent lunch.

Friendly staff, dog friendly, allowed to sit outdoors patio area. Starter scallops with pork belly... Good combo, though the pork belly was on the over cooked side. Scallops were good though could only see a couple, expensive for just 2 scallops at £9.50. new to menu according to the friendly waitress. Monkfish and crayfish pineapple was ok, not flavoured enough. Fish of the day.. plaice and new potatoes, was ok, though lacked flavour again. Was assisted with filleting... But don't think they did a good job. Overall, interesting menu, paid a premium for eating on the seafront. Easy to find, good location, had outdoor heaters for those cooler nights.

Great location. Food and service was pretty good. Ordered the ribeye steak which came with a "potato croissant" expecting it to be something special. It wasn't. It was basically a tiny piece of potato based garnish not worth mentioning on the menu....so definitely get sides!!

A wonderful evening… a fantastic experience. My wife absolutely loved 🥰 her Portuguese inspired Cataplana. The staff were very welcoming and fully compliant with the current COVID guidance. The Sussex cheese board to be recommended. If you’re not a fish person the Sussex steaks are superb. Strongly recommended very ‘handy’ for the Harbour Hotel where we stayed… just over the road.

Oh my goodness. This was a great place for lunch with a holiday vibe! The staff were lovely and went out of their way to make us feel special and to enjoy the dining experience. The food was also amazing and I wish I could visit Brighton more often! If you are on a day trip and want a great lunch or dinner... and you love fish... then this is the place. The oyters were so fresh and the squid starter also amazing! Some wine was also organic and that was a bonus. Definitely visit.

Amazing food ! I had very stressful day at work and I stoped at that lovely restaurant. The sea food was super fresh just the way I wanted . I had mussels with sweet potato wages also because prawn salad and Broccoli. A little bit too much for one person but I have finished all 🙈🙊 it was just fantastic. I use to run a restaurant and I can definitely recommend that place . Also lovely girl name Andrea (Romanian girl ) made my day being super friendly and she made me feel like I m at home . Lovely staff and great food. I don't get why people complain about the price, this is a fish restaurant which uses locally sourced and fresh products... It's gonna be a bit pricier that the rest but definitely not eye-watering. Also, you would be eating right by the coast... Lovely place and service.

Our dining experience was great. We had the lobster rolls, tuna tartar and French fries with crab (these were phenomenal!). As mains we had the fish of the day, hamburger and steak. All meals were great and up to your expectations. Definitely recommend coming here.

Was a perfect decision to choose this restaurant in Brighton, was a pleasant lunch of sea food. We ordered different types of oysters, which were delicious. The fish platter was great. Surprised we had that large crab with it at the relatively cheap price. The stake was great. However it to 40 minutes for the food to arrive at a quiet time. Ordered a different stake was not told till 20 minutes later that they did not have that cut left. This may have contributed to the wait. Place was nice. Staff were friendly. They offered us complementary drinks for the long wait.

Do not be fooled by the location. This is exceptional food that really stands out. Scallops with chorizo foam (deeeelicious) monkfish larb (super flavorful) and fresh oysters. Highly recommend.

My workmates and I were deciding between curry or a "healthy" seafood dinner. We found this place by the water in Brighton. Small and cozy with beautiful decor, it was a perfect spot to unwind with some wine and great company. The service was professional and not intrusive. The server happily suggested dishes to us, and had a great mix of politeness and humour. On top, the food was great. I and the sea bass and would come back for it. Lovely red suace that had a bit of a kick. Scallop appetizer was the perfect amount to share for 6 people. Can't say enough good things!

We were celebrating a special occasion at the copper clam. The restaurant is laid out safely and the owners took every precaution needed to make us feel comfortable in COVID times. KAY was a wonderful host and our waitress RUBY was so attentive. We loved the food choices and I especially enjoyed my salmon main. Kay made some great recommendations on the red wine front and the copper clam made our special evening that bit more special. If you are looking for a delightful restaurant in Brighton; this is IT!

Only marking down on the interior (needs a little update?) and not amazing service, not offered menus or drinks or water on arrival but other than that, a nice place for a celebration seafood blow out platter!

We ate it here last night with my 5 year old as-well as my Mum - every dish we had was amazing, the staff were all absolutely brilliant. We had the best time and all of us said it was the best food we have had in a really long time. My Dad passed away 4 weeks ago and this was the first time my Mum had been away since - we brought her to Brighton and booked the Copper Clam as she loves seafood. She absolutely loved it and the staff were so sweet with my daughter and just great - it was a fantastic night and a big thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcome.

A lovely, charming family-run seaside restaurant: fresh and delicious seafood, perfectly cooked juicy scallops, and dedicated and swift service. Food was served incredibly quickly and was nice and hot, which was greatly appreciated on a not particularly warm day. Absolutely phenomenal service and the best seafood in Brighton. There is nowhere else I would rather go out for lunch or dinner. The staff are always incredibly friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. All of this would be enough to make it my favourite spot but combine that with the incredible location, right on the seafront with the most stunning views. Unfortunately I cannot leave a good review of our meal here. The food was sadly lacking…. Beef short rib was dry, bread was very dry and shellfish was very forgettable. Best part of the meal were the oysters, the only uncooked element that we ordered. Final insult to injury was being stood over by the waiter with the card machine at bill time and asked how much we would like to tip…. Very poor form, and being typically awkward English folk we coughed up 10 percent to save the ignominy of declining to tip in earshot of other diners. Much better seafood experiences to be had a stones throw away.

Went yesterday with a foodie friend from London. The service was appalling as we waited ages by the rope gate to be noticed, didn't have the two different wines we chose so they recommended one (which we had) and they charged us the dearer price, had 6 small plates to share and had to ask for plates to eat off. Firstly I have to put my hands up and say this wasn't where we were supposed to be originally eating lunch. We Googled a seafood restaurant with a sea view in Brighton and Riddle and Finns on the Beach came up. We called them to reserve a table for 4 people and our 2 terriers but was told they didn't take reservations and just to turn up. So we drove from the Goodwood Revival, some one and half hours or so to be met by a young meet and greet male at R & Fns who said that we couldn't have a table for about one and half hours as the tables were all reserved. We explained our previous telephone call to them of a request for a table and also information on their own website that said only walk ins were accepted, but he became quite pompous and rude so we moved on and looked elsewhere. So down the steps from the embarrassing experience we encountered, we saw a beautifully clean restaurant called the Copper Clam. When we approached their front of house, we were greeted by him like long lost family, he made a fuss over our dogs and immediately came with a bowl of water for them. We had Oysters Kilpatrick, Chilli Prawns to start with home made bread. And for our main we had the best Moules Marinière that we've had in any restaurant anywhere in the UK. The wine was suggested for us and a better choice could not honestly have been taken to complement our food. All in all I have to say a big thank you to the meet and greet chappie at Riddle & Finns on the Beach, as without his terrible attitude towards us, we might have unfortunately eaten at their restaurant, while at the same time miss the wonderful opportunity and highlight of our brief trip to Brighton which was definitely the great hospitality and amazing food at The Copper Clam. Well done all concerned, we can't wait to return. Btw, hope you noticed we always tip well for a great dining experience. Thank you...

Visited on a gloomy Monday evening, post lockdown. Excellent measures in place regarding C19. Lovely warm welcome, they don't have a cocktail menu but they have a resident mixologist who was able to 'invent' us a couple of bespoke cocktails based on our preferences. I started with the scallops with bacon and raspberries. Being a seafood addict, I LOVE scallops but I was skeptical about the raspberries... However, I have bacon and fruit with pancakes so why not try this? I'm so glad I did! The scallops were tender and cooked to perfection perfectly balanced with the sweet and tart fresh raspberries and the salty crispy bacon. The rest of the dinner didn't disappoint, every course and dish were equally delightful. Customer service was also top notch. Fish of the day was hake, beautifully flakey and fresh, the green beans were perfect and the added white/black sesame seeds were a great touch. The homemade cheesecake and plum ice cream were also amazing.

Fantastic seafood, very attentive service We chose oysters, and moules to start. The moule source was amazing, we finished it all and oysters as you'd expect, just great. Visited during August whilst lockdown due COVID-19 was still in effect, the weather was sunny and windy. We were seated outdoors with friendly and welcoming smiles. Amazing little place. The waiting staff are very warm and welcoming, they give you recommendations and help you decide based on your tastes and the chefs strengths. Only downfall I would say are the tables are very close together but that seems to be the way everywhere you go these days. Perfect for a special occasion if you're a seafood lover. One of the owners took my booking and made sure that and extra large special crab was saved for us. The staff were wonderful, service was amazing, and the lady who had taken our booking, I believe K was her name took time away to show us how to eat some of the shell fish and also chat to us which made us feel so special on our anniversary. We had the best oysters in Brighton, excellent lunch - That was three years ago. We have been back several times since then but yesterday was fabulous. We brought two friends to the restaurant, the welcome was fantastic and a lunch table was found for us. We all had oysters and again they were excellent. The Rathfinny sparkling wine from Sussex was lovely but the price is on the high side, like most English wines. I can really recommend the Cataplana, it is a copper dish full of fish stew in a great tomato and green bean sauce. The waiters were great and we must not forget the chefs because the food was all excellent. This was not our last visit, I am sure.

Wonderful tasting food!!! I've never had such fresh fish cooked so beautifully with incredible flavour. The menu had dairy free options for dessert but they had no issue with me bringing my own dairy free alternative. The kitchen is an open kitchen and you can see that it is kept very clean!! All the staff are extremely accommodating and know a lot about their produce and their wine pairing is impeccable. I have been here numerous times and I can hands down say that this is my favourite restaurant in Brighton. Excellent job!!

The only thing that we didn't like was the portion of the scallops. It was just 2 scallops at the price of £7,50 and we found the portion too small for what we paid.

The restaurant itself has a nice ambience, we arrived at a lovely time of day just after sunset and had a lovely view of the ocean before dark. Starters were actually quite nice but mains were disappointing, we both ordered fish - The turbot special wasn't - it was dry and overcooked. My bream was crispy underneath without crispy skin?? so also overcooked. The accompaniments of both were great but the fish should have been the star on both plates.

This restaurant is possibly the best seafood one in Brighton. Right by the seafront, the view over the beach is amazing! The quality of service alone makes this a must visit restaurant, all the chefs are super talented, the staff are very friendly and the food is absolutely outstanding! I highly recommend the crab platter with cheesecake for dessert. If your looking for a cheap quick fix, your in the wrong place but if you want to spend a afternoon or evening relaxing and eating food this is the place to be.

Well what can i say. We were searching for a seafood restaurant whilst in Brighton for the weekend and i have to say we hit the jackpot. From the moment we walked in from the rain the whole place was just so inviting. From how we were greeted to how we were treated the whole evening. Just amazing. I visited The Copper Clam on the 6th October 2018. This was a booking for my birthday so was really looking forward to it. I have to say from the moment you walk in the door the atmosphere and service are impeccable. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, especially important when we were walking in from blustery wind and rain!! We were sat on the 1st floor at a table over looking the beach which was a lovely view. The menu was something I'd previously looked at online and relished the look of. I was excited to order Oysters which was the first time I'd had them and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered Oysters in tempura batter and they were melt in the mouth. My partner had prawn bisque, slightly spicy but great nonetheless. The disappointment came with the mains. I'd ordered the braised octopus which I was really looking forward to but when it came out it was less than lukewarm. Never normally one to complain or send food back, on this occasion I did. The waiter was very apologetic and advised he would correct it. Needless to say it came back out and wasn't much better, at this point I didn't want to go through sending it back again and didn't think I should have had to. My partners main was steak, which was also not the most appetising. The fat wasn't rendered properly and personally wasn't cooked to order. As previously stated, I'd say the best thing about this visit was the service and The Copper Clams saving grace. I'm hoping we caught them on an 'off' night, but still not sure that would warrant a return visit.

Very reasonable price, considering we had three courses, one of which was a seafood platter. Shellfish was really fresh, super simple. It wasn't overdone or over complicated, so if you are a real seafood lover then this is the place to go.
