Reviews of The Pipeline
R. B.
Just around the corner, your friendly neighbourhood metal bar. Feel at home, while sipping a brew, a gin, or a fine white wine. Heaven in your mouth and in your brain. Come back for more ! Forget about the brain, just come back!
A. A.
For a tiny bar they have a lot of great drinks to offer (they even had more than one non alcoholic beer available!). The vegan food menu here is great too. I had one of their hot dogs and my wife had their "Brody Dalle" burger both were really tasty.
The upstairs venue is exactly what you want from a punk rock venue.
J. P.
A REAL rootsy rock venue in the most plastic of towns. Downstairs for nice staff, great food and drink.
Usually the promise of a small band upstairs which has a full sound system.
I spoke to the manager who had GENUINE enthusiasm for the gigs. I found it refreshing and down to earth.
P. H.
Very small corner bar in the Lanes. Loud vintage Rock music if that's your thing. Eclectic but friendly crowd, bar staff friendly, drinks selection ok, in plastic glasses
J. S.
cool little Rock bar, music venue that originated from East london fairly close to Liverpool street station!
the Chap who owns the music venue is Sweedish for all his Sins!
if you like punk music then your like this bar! ENJOY!!!
V. S.
Found this place on happy cow! Struggled to find it on google maps but realised we should’ve been looking for ‘the pipeline’ as it’s in there.
Called ahead to see if there were tables, there were - they were preparing for a gig upstairs. The sound check was a bit distracting but nothing we couldn’t handle.
The member of staff was really friendly, he informed us it was the first day of a new menu. There were also specials on the board.
We ordered a house red, a pint, an ultimate burger, a rasher and blue cheezly burger, onion rings and cheezy chips. The service was quick, the food was great, extremely filling and would have everything again apart from the cheezy chips. Everything amounted to the bargain price of £28.
They didn’t have desserts but it was something they were looking into. They kindly advised where for to go to get dessert!
It was a bit cold inside. I didn’t take my coat off until we ate.
If you’re looking for stodgy, filling vegan junk food, come here!
Check out the music listings too if it’s what you’re into.

Excellent service and great pub all round! Friendly, welcoming staff which greeted us immediately on arrival. No trouble finding a decent seat. Drinks arrived minutes after ordering and food arrived in good time. Excellent plant based/vegan pub. Well priced! Good music and atmosphere.
A. D.
Friendly and professional bar and door staff and cool rock /punk music. Prices are in line with Brighton. I hope to come back soon to try out the food.
S. D.
1st visit and already a favourite - fully vegan menu with probably the best chips I've ever had. Plays rock music and has live bands. Brilliant.
C. Y. L.
100% Vegan. they make nice sweet potato fries. Tiny bar they have live band upstairs sometimes.
P. R.
We were looking for vegan food and saw this dark-looking place from the street and they menu, wich said : Food is 100% vegan. I am so happy we got in because food was The best I have ever eaten💖. We took hamburgers and fries and salad and everyone loved it!
L. F.
Nice surprise to find this kind of venue as we were heading back to our hotel & took a wrong turn
Excellent independent pub
d.
fantastic service, good banter with the staff and excellent music. We came with a big group on Saturday evening and had a blast! Would recommend
M. J.
I visited a few years ago when V bites ran the Vegan only venue. As an omnivore, I was impressed with V bites. However now the food is not worth it, insipid and no care or passion. Great music venue, terrible food. Bring back V bites.
n. k.
That's my second time and it is soooo yammmi.. love the food, the music and the atmosphere.. Google indicated as if we couldn't sit in, but the place is fully open for business and the team are very friendly!!!
M.
A rock bar and restaurant in Brighton with pinball machines, juke box and outdoor area. It's an independent place, run with personality! Runs quirky events like karaoke, rock n roll pub quiz, ice hockey and smaller gigs. Turbojugend friendly!
f. f.
Great night out here, welcoming, live bands, great prices, The vegan food was amazing. Would 100% recommend this for a great night out
D. K.
What a lovely place. 100% vegan and you can't even tell. Its worth a visit. We tried the burgers, cheesy chips, and the kebab.
We tried the beef and chicken burgers. Preferred the chicken Patti but both were delicious.
Thanks
P. M.
Just a very cool rock n roll pub with an awesome vybe for like minded people. If you wanna rock on the weekend.... Go here!!!
N. w.
Great little venue. Long may it continue
D. M.
Excellent pub. Great place for live bands. Great jukebox with plenty of punk hardcore & thrash. Good selection of vegan booze & food. Really friendly staff as well. Top place.
F. M.
Nice little boozer, great, intimate venue for live performances. Smallish, but tasty selection of beers. Vegan menu looks good - meat-free takes on pub munchies. Will have to check that out.
C. N.
Intimate venue, friendly staff, good beer, GREAT music...what's not to like??
T. S.
Really great pub with great music, at the bar and live bands upstairs. A place I always visit when in Brighton
A. M.
Very friendly atmosphere. Good food and dog friendly. Would recommend.
j. b.
Nice pub. Ok choice of beers. Not too big and has some outside seating. Right in the center of town but Doesn't get too busy. They sometimes have live shows upstairs that are a lot of fun. Never eaten there so can't comment on that. Staff seemed alright from what I remember. Not many places left like this so I hope it sticks around. Ver close the beach and very close the posh lanes. I recommend going to check it out.
J. M.
Small pub which can be a bit noisy when the music is turned up. Prices are reasonable and in a good location.
Events are sometimes held upstairs, such as comedy nights and it is part of the ghost walks since it is 'haunted'.
The gents toilets are very small and could use a refurb. I don't believe there are any disabled toilets.
Outside seating is available.
L. E.
Very decent pub - ALL staff were friendly and professional, even the security who seemed at ease and welcoming. Beer was v good and the customers were all fine people who were respectful. Well run pub in the heart of the city.
S. M.
Been going here for a couple of years now and had a great time every time. It's a "clean" rock bar... which is a great concept as you get the great rock music but you don't have to sit in a dark dungeon. I've taken clients there as well and everybody has always enjoyed themselves. I like their Scandinavian menu as well - usually go for the meatballs and variety of drinks. Would happily recommend for business or pleasure.
A. J.
Went there because of the pinball machines of which there were 6 (!) and they were in excellent condition.
The layout of the place is really spacious with large windows all around.
Drinks are well-priced and large.
On a weekday night there were 7 customers of whom a fifty-something couple was drinking wine and chatting quietly so my impression is that it's less of a rock bar but more of a chill-and-relax-place where you can grab a beer after work and vent by hitting the pins.
The place is really clean, in a way that makes you respect the coasters for your drink. We kind of felt like intruders into the clean quiet atmosphere and didn't feel particularly welcome. Not a smile or chat was given or encouraged.
The menu is absolutely nothing for my taste. I'd prefer pizza, fries and burgers over sushi anytime so we went to eat someplace else.
b. m.
Great music venue pub just a few minutes walk from Brighton pier. Super cool juxebox greets you as you enter with pinball machines and live music upstairs. Plenty of interesting beers and vegan food menu.
W. S.
The jukebox needs more metal... other the that what a venue!! The staff were nothing but amazing, I order 2 plates of the vegan nachos which were sublime and arrived in such a timely manner. We came here tonight for a mates birthday to finish but next time I will be here to start for sure.
J. M.
Great rock bar, brilliant music, live bands and fantastic atmosphere. Vegan food too! Even if metal isn't your type of music, still go for the experience. The place is clean and light, not a grunge bar at all
M. M.
This is a small, easily overlooked alcohol outlet across the road from the back of the car park in central Brighton, that being its chief attraction. Only one craft beer on, but many other mainstream beers; the place had a strong rock and punk vibe in terms of soundtrack, decor and clientele. Seems to be veggie/vegan or biased that way.
R. T.
Lovely atmosphere. Great drinks. Great staff. Music is very loud but that's my only complaint.
I. S. Y.
Cool place to have some beers, listening to some good rock and play pinball.
The place is very spacious and comfortable for big groups of people.
Sometimes the music can be loud, but it is a rock bar, you expect it to be loud.
C. C.
Beautiful vegan food, great value for money, loved it
E. T.
If you served this vegan food to a meat eater they wouldn’t know the difference! Lad behind the bar recommended a hot dog and a southern fried ‘chicken’ burger, which my sister and I shared, and it was the best meat substitutes we’ve tried! Perfect if falafel isn’t your thing!
J. B.
Excellente punk pub; schnoz Duke box. Love it
R. S.
Very rock and roll! Close to Liverpool Street yet off the beaten track so not too busy. Pool tables, rock memorabilia, and Pinball machines give this place a very different vibe!
C. B.
I always visit the Pipeline when I'm in London as they serve decent beer and food and the place isn't full of idiots who expect too much.
And they have plenty of comfy seats!
And Lemmy on the toilet door.
And a jukebox that doesn't leave you wondering where taste left for.
What more could a person want?
T.
Hands down. One of the best places in Brighton for Vegan food. I'd reccomend the Suzie Quattro burger with a pint of stout.
Can't wait to come back.
P. D.
Some of the negative reviews here range from strange to shockingly out of order. This is one of the best and friendliest bars around whether you like rock music or not. Genuinely five stars. Maybe we should start reviews of reviewers...
A. B.
Sleezy in the best way. Dark lighting, pool tables, whiskey and gin. Either pull up a seat at the bar or drop yourself into the comfy sofa chairs. Rock and roll atmosphere, great music and exceptional bar staff.
j. p.
Had a lovely experience Saturday night. Wonderful staff great atmosphere. Lionel the door man... what a joy!! Absolute star and character! Cheers guys!!
V. M.
Really good vegan menu with amazing burgers. Pub has a cool vibe, but not my usual kind of place. Food is worth it though!
p. c.
Very friendly place great beer and amazing Jukebox
J. G.
Great, friendly pub. Food is all vegan, well priced and delicious. Cracking juke box. A great place to visit
L. F.
Nice atmosphere, good music and tasty (well priced) vegan food. Drinks could be cheaper but it's in the centre of Brighton so it's expected.
S. S.
great place for show , good pub , great selection of drinks , good service .
S. W.
This might not sound much like a recommendation, but one of my favourite things about The Pipeline is that every time I've been on a week night it's been near-empty. While this doesn't do a whole lot for the atmosphere, it's a blessing if you're meeting up for a quiet drink and a chat with people who work nearby.
t. r.
Great venue, great pub, and awesome vegan food + the best jukebox in town
J. W.
Small but decent pub
S. W.
Amazing food, if you want great vegetarian and vegan food you have to try here. Very nice little pub, friendly staff we really enjoyed it.
C. P.
I had planned to go to the Pipeline for my Birthday with a large group of friends. I had checked the website and planned the whole evening in advance and saw that last orders was 12am on a Saturday night.
So we went to a few pubs then all arrived at 11.05pm to find that the club was closing. ON A SATURDAY NIGHT! It did look dead so it can't be that popular. When I said to the bar man that the website had said that the closing time was 12am he said, and I quote "I don't know anything about no website."
Pfft! Won't be going back.
P. G.
Attended the inaugural Kaleidoscope comedy evening in The Basement last night. This was a valiant attempt to showcase new talent? Each comedian had a 10 - 15 minute slot. Some of the acts crashed and burned - their material just wasn't suitable for the small and at times enthusiastic audience. Proceedings were hindered by one particular (drunken?) idiot who thought it was clever to constantly ruined punchlines and intimidate nervous, inexperienced stand-ups!
NOTE TO ORGANISERS:Ensure that the requests of the compare are backed up by actions - such behaviour would not be tolerated at place like the 99 Club or other venues in town - especially as the admission fee is comparable to other top clubs.
The final two comedians were good value. It has to be said that the class act was Lady and the Tramps, or in this instance, Lady and the Tamp (the guitarist). She's timeless jazz/blues lilt immediately captured the audience's attention and Gavin's inner Django personified his performance. This combo never fail to entertain and were worth the ticket price alone! If you get the chance, go and see them - you don't know what you're missing!
A. D.
Beautiful food cracking service will certainly be returning soon
R.
Large pub / gig venue. Great for large groups. Has a cool selection of vintage pinball machines, should you be so inclined.
j. j.
Tasty straightforward bar food that doesn't disappoint in a chill friendly atmosphere. I've been a few times and staff have always been genuinely nice, thanks for that.
A. C.
Had some really great burgers here. Nice bar which is in an old house. Dude played some great punk, new wave music.
C. o. S.
Likes to think its a Rock pub but it isnt really.....the downstairs isnt bad and fakes the part but upstairs is like a Wetherspoons. Alright if you like your rock n roll a bit on the safe side
S.
Amazingly dirty burgers, perfect for proving vegans eat more than just salad! I cannot recommend the mac & cheese burger enough!
K. Y.
Friendly bar with an upstairs room for events. Jukebox filled with classic punk, metal and rock tracks. Reasonable menu.
C. R. R.
Brighton's best rock bar. Good value vegan food and live music upstairs.
P. B.
Rather strange bar - looks all heavy metal but has a Japanese food menu. Has two pool tables and a large number of retro pin ball machines.
D. B.
Generally a great bar, fantastic pics on the walls and always busy. Nice beer too
T. R.
The rock karaoke night is epic! And some bloody good gigs are held here at a bargain entry price.
M. S.

M. L.
Great venue, they DO serve non alcoholic lager which is great for me. Lovely lively peeps
L. W.
Best vegan burger I've had in Brighton, there have been many contenders.
T. P.
A clean version of a Rock Bar. Service and prices are fine, just a slightly too sanitised experience. It is VH1 compared to Scuzz...
c. h.
Great place, but Thomas won't let me achieve my life long ambition of a gin in a tin blanket.
M. L.
