Reviews of Gordano Gate Brewers Fayre
C. W.
Food was very nice, took a little while to be served. Wouldn't recommend the hot chocolate, however the staff were kind and swapped it for a coke instead. They do have a play area for children here. You can eat in the room where there is a play area but it is very cold in there. If your eating in the restaurant whilst the kids play, there are monitors showing the play area so you can keep an eye, however one of the cameras wasn't working which was a shame. I did really like that the play area was suitable for a 3 year old. Some play areas are really big and they are not quite tall enough to climb but this play area was perfect.
J. P.
Really good staff service, especially the table staff. And the young girl in a yellow t shirt (didn't catch her name).
Price wise, the two meals for £8.99 is fantastic value, especially in the financial Times. Food tasty although the menu could have more of a variety of choice. Other than that 5 *
r. p.
Relaxed & cheerful. Good family value. Kiddie friendly. Shame they were short staffed when I visited which meant that the soft play area was closed off and the wait to order food & drinks was very disappointing. However the staff that eventually served me were doing there best and remained cheerful under difficult circumstances.
J. A.
Ordered a festive special rump steak Wellington, the first one which came out was pretty chewy but think it was just a poor cut of meat. Sent it back and the second was was lovely. The sauce was flavoursome and roasties were light and fluffy too. I normally avoid roasties from chains but these actually surprised me, I thoroughly enjoyed them. The staff were great and super helpful. They were very apologetic too when I asked to send the first one back and made the effort to check on me to see if the second one was better. Couldn't fault them, polite and friendly :)
B. C.
Bit dissapointed, walked in to a note on the door pointing out all the meals missing off the menu. The week before we tried to book in, but we're told no meals after 5pm due to staff staff shortage. Shame the first time went to the gate a few weeks ago and had a great meal.
H.
OK food and it always came pretty quickly. Hamburgers bit dry but other choices were better. OK breakfast.
Pub service is often very slow for some reason. Seems the table bookings and restaurant food orders are done on bar desk so sometimes there is a lot of queue. Lots of staff behind the desk doing something but only 1 persong serving the beer. Felt bit hilarious sometimes among the queuing people.
Staff is very friendly and helpful tho.
Very small TV on the pub so quite difficult to watch football if not sitting next to it.
Really sticky tables. Maybe theyre not wiped with water when cleaned?
Really good place to go to have some beer after work and maybe dinner if you dont want to walk to the town when staying in the hotel next door.
Will come again many times when staying in Premier Inn next time.
J. W.
Stopped here for dinner on the way to Cornwall. Food was ok but service could have been better. Maybe there was not enough staff. Like everywhere else.
m. a.
Staff are so professional and make you feel so welcome. They are a credit to you. The food is great value for money.
O. S.
Popped in for a quick pint and some nuts friendly staff.
Windows outside could do with a lick of paint as looking a bit shabby apart from that good size kids play area, large carpark etc.
P. H.
Lovely meal here staff were accommodating and helpful.
I had the chicken and ribs combo with onion rings and cheesy chips. One word lurvly.
The ribs were tender af chicken was a little overcooked but better that than under lol.
S. M.
Nice food. Pizza from kids menu nice & chick pea curry from adults.
M. B.
Recent visit just used the soft play. All other areas were pretty dirty, staff disinterested. Asked about booking a childs party and was just told to look at the poster on the wall, no leaflet, details, or mention of dates / availability
P. F.
Service a bit slow, been waiting 45 minutes so far. Not told of delay when ordering, not very busy. See iff food improves later review
A. G. D.
Visited the restaurant on Sunday & was served by a lovely lady, believe her name was Kirstie. Impeccable service from Kirstie she is a real attribute to brewers fayre! I will be returning food was fantastic!
D. C.
Convenient location close to the Premier Inn Hotel. Food is standard pub food, portion size is good. Enjoyed the meal.
S. A.
Shame they ran out of all steak products food we had was nice.. stafg where good..
J. P.
Breakfast was buffet style and was good. Was not to impressed with the cleanliness of the salt and pepper pots. Tables were sticky also. Staff were friendly though.
C.
I met my boss here for a meeting so only had drinks. He enjoyed his coffee and my Pepsi was good/fine too 🙂
I did notice when we had been at the table a while that it wasnt completely clean (I think some smudged in chocolate or something) but in fairness we didn't say anything to them as I'm sure they would have cleaned it for us!
Also, we ended up being there well over an hour and only had the one drink each and there was no pressure from the staff to order more or anything. They were all lovely to us.
Its also free parking which was a welcome surprise. The car park is shared with the Premier Inn so I assumed I'd have to either pay or log my reg somewhere, but you don't 🙂
K. K.
Family afternoon fun. Nice soft play for kids and good value for money food. Good parking, easier to get to from North West Bristol than City centre.
n. p.
No gas on site so limited cooking. Still providing everything but fried and poached eggs. Well done 👏 ✔ staff.
J. S.
Great food but tables could do with a good cledn
J. F.
It perfectly served our purpose. Its busy and a very big family hotel. So we waited for the evening rush to go through.
Lots of carpet messing around as clearly kids eat here. But the food was OK, cheap and good value.
s. t.
Great food and beer. Nice and clean. The 2 meals for 8.99 are great (I was starving 😀) it worked out cheaper than having one meal but it stops at 6pm
j. s.
Food was OK. Staff was OK.
Tablets were very sticky & had to use menu to place on table to stop my arms from getting sticky.
It's a very nice looking restaurant & very spacious & great outdoor space for children. Could do with a non smoking desiccated area as it's not nice breathing in second hand smoke.
j. w.
Good friendly staff. Good selection of drink.
Had breakfast only complaint. Don't deep fry the black pudding(full of fat) spoils a good breakfast.
y. r.
Christmas Menu was disappointing. The veg were frozen and still hard. The roasters were very greasy, as if they had been kept warm for a while. The place itself was tired, we sat in the conservatory and all the chairs were old and the seats all needed replacing.
C. H.
This is one of those "pubs next to a premier Inn" type places. Serves breakfast for the Hotel and the go to eatery for residents. It's slap in the middle of a dead end industrial estate that no very populated so nice and quiet. Walking distance from the town centre and the local pubs and restaurants if you want eat out. Staff friendly and food wasn't disappointing and as you'd expect.
D. T.
Recently returned here for our breakfast Rotary Club meetings twice per month. Convenient venue with reasonably good choice of food (breakfast buffet) at a reasonable price. Friendly staff. Free parking.
D. M.
Friendly staff, good food and a great place for children.
M. H.
Good food, good service. Allowed to take food back to hotel room.
M. S.
Food was ok.
Table was very dirty had to clean It ourselves.
Gents toilet was locked.
Baby changing had wet wipes and toilet paper all over the floor.
The staff were very pleasant and attentive so a positive there .
L. R.
Hired soft play for child's birthday. Very co-operative. Rating reflects this precise expierience.
R.
Decent food and seated quickly, even for a Saturday lunchtime. Nice location right next to the marina
a. p.
Very nice meal a great family day
S.
Rarely give 5 stars.
Really good food, staff were friendly.
Everything clean and tidy and not crowded (Saturday lunch). Food came quickly.
A. W.
We stopped here for a late lunch before a walk at Portishead. The lunch rush was over and it was pleasantly quiet. It felt welcoming, warm and was very clean and tidy. We ordered fish pie and a curry. The food arrived promptly. It was pipping hot and very yummy. I really enjoyed my fish pie.
The staff were all very efficient and friendly. We will definitely be visiting again, when we are in the area.
Also great for kids, as they have a fantastic play area.
P. M.
Food good generous portions. Update, missing irems from order, food sloppy and a forgotten dessert. Dissapointing
P.
Decided to meet the family here as it was a convenient place. We were all disappointed with the quality of the food and a lot of it was wasted. The soft play was great for the children and very popular. We visited on Monday 30th Dec and there was a general feeling that there were too few staff on duty the ones there were multitasking working behind the bar, serving food and clearing tables.
t.
Had both evening and breakfast meals here whilst staying in the Premier Inn next door. Pleasant surroundings with adequate seating for all. We booked the meal deal for 2 adults, with the 2 free children's breakfasts. We paid for the evening children's meals. Food was well cooked, well served and plentiful.
Staff very accommodating and happy to help.
We all over ate at breakfast and didn't eat again until 6pm lol.
H. d.
Quick service but my partner's steak could have done with resting. Everything was very tasty and staff were helpful and friendly
P. D.
Great service, but due to current deliveries though certain meals are missing off the menu but what we did order was really nice.
And I'm always grateful when see doom bar on draft 👍
M. C.
Excellent food and a warm atmosphere, extremely well looked after by the young ladies who worked there !
G. W.
When we arrived to brews fayre it was very quick to get to our reserved table. It was not warm in there, it was quite cold and was tempted to keep wearing some warmer clothes. Otherwise the experience and food was good. During breakfast you can get whatever you want whenever you want. Including cereal, full English breakfast, various drinks, toast, blueberry muffins, chocolate croissants and much more. Once you have finished the meal there is a Costa coffee machine and for the children some outside private space with a small park.
S. L.
Amazing service and really friendly staff. Food was nice but the potatoe dippers starter could have done with more cheese. Overall though I would still highly recommend eating there if you are in the area as they are quick at getting food to you and it is either the right temperature to eat or slightly too hot. A very enjoyable meal and will almost definitely be eating there again next time I am in the area! 👍👍
A. S.
Very average food , great for the kids as they have a big soft play
T. J.
Came in for the buffet breakfast with family. The full English section wasn't set up so they cooked our hot food to order whilst we picked at the continental section. Mushrooms are boiled instead of fried though which isnt too nice. Friendly staff. Would love if this website signed up to Too good to go so they could help with food waste after the breakfast buffet.
c. s.
Food and staff great. Garden a mess
P. R.
We were staying at the Premier Inn next door so enjoyed a couple of evenings having meals there. Excellent service and meals. One day we had breakfast and were less impressed with the service. Items were in short supply and there were waits for some of the items, such as eggs, bacon, mushrooms and hash browns. Other customers suffered the same problem. The manager was apologising to people and doing her best to deal with it. It may be a 'one off' with shortage of staff and a new member starting that morning, but not up to Brewers Fayre usual standard.
V. H.
We had a nice visit! We sat in the soft play as had a young child food was good! The lady with blue hair was great! but the other girl a trainee i think ,didn't have much customer service. I would visit here again
N. M.
Great food and variety of vegetarian options. Beautifully cooked and present ed. Great staff
R. C.
Food was good, but despite booking a table had to wait 15 mins to be seated. Tables were piled high with dirty dishes and service was slow. No serving staff were wearing face coverings of any variety.
C. T.
Family friendly pub/restaurant, serves good popular well loved dishes you expect from Premier Inn, at reasonable prices. You should book as can be quite busy. Worth a visit if you need to accommodate a group. Parking available.
r. c.
Easy to use when in Premier Inn, food came out quick, Many extremely limited
N. A.
We went in during lunchtime it was quite quiet although the playgroup was on, we didn't go in for that either. We were served very quickly at the bar and the food arrived promptly, it was hot and of good quality. I would recommend it to anyone.
A. K.
Food good but Christ on a bike severe staff shortages. With Easter fast approaching I reckon Jesus would have died and risen by the time we were served on Friday. Restaurant wasn't busy but all 5 tables were in a queue and one staff member changed a barrel. This was the same staff member who was taking food orders, we had to clean out own table . Breakfast today was slick and normal service seems to have resumed.
G. S.
Staying at the Premier Inn next door for a week so eating here a lot, as always good food, really nice friendly and professional staff, highly recommended
H. M.
First visit, and pleasantly surprised especially as it has a soft play. Kids enjoyed it. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Our server Jessica was extremely accommodating, making it an enjoyable experience. Thank you Jessica. Definitely visiting again.
M. T.
Used this place as a stop over or just break a journey when travelling south/north on the M5 for the last 10years. We find it an excellent premier Inn, or just a superb meal break. Good food, loads of drinks choice. Good value.just back from Weymouth this evening. Lovely meal each, good rest would recommend it to all.
B. J.
Ya nice place and plenty of food
F. B.
Great the staff are the best and I cleared all my food on the plate would come here again really enjoyed it 😋
C.
Reasonable food but drinks overpriced.
J. H.
Food pretty good and a good menu. But a terrible stench greets you as you enter the main door, right where the sign says "wait to be seated" it really smells like an open sewer. As the toilets are just on the right hand side as you walk in, I assume that's where the smells are coming from. To be honest if hadn't been with friends, I wouldn't have eaten there.
A. G.
Disappointed, no fish available, and no naan bread available to go with chicken tikka.
J. A.
Good pub food in pleasant surroundings and attentive staff. Special menu super price and decent selection. Will use regularly
C. W.
The kids enjoyed playing in the indoors play area, and the food was great, but we had to ask twice for our desserts as they didn't bring them. For that reason I have given it 4/5 stars.
r. l. g.
Food was very nice,,,, but food could be a lot warmer. We go to this restaurant regularly and it is always the same,, It's as if they have to make a long journey from the kitchen to the dining tables.
W. P.
Food is fine but the whole place is very run down and dirty.
J. F. (.
Food is much better than it was a few years ago. Usually short staffed though, which lets them down. The soft play is good if they have enough staff to keep it open, and you don't have a tall 9 year old. (I think the height limit is 1.5m)
D. N.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Shame that this is the second Brewers Fayre I've visited where there was so much missing from the menu! The the owners need to buy more steaks! Sainsbury's are next door! Slightly tarnished the evening for our family.
A. C.
Went for a meal after seeing their constant Facebook ads for their Carvery and slightly disappointed to discover it is only on a Sunday. Still, the rest of their menu is pretty extensive and we were able to choose alternatives quite easily.
The restaurant area is quite extensive, and the kids play area is huge, with plenty of tables available either in the play area or with oversight of the area. For those slightly further afield there is a CCTV feed into the non-sighted area.
The food was good, and the drinks were pleasant too. Neither, however, are reasonably priced. A sharing starter, a main and side each, and a round of drinks came to over £40 for two of us, which is quite a price hike on say a Stonehouse carvery or Hungry Horse.
Also, I don't care what their website says, it is in no way within walking distance of The Mall at Cribbs Causeway!!
D. S.
A good place to stop for a breakfast stop during a long journey. It could be cleaner but I was impressed with the food, the price was good and the staff were nice.
G. D.
OK, disappointed that they had run out of Carvery on a Sunday !!
M. M.
The staff are very friendly, good service, they need to update the menu, it was very limited, not like it used to be before the covid
P. E.
Popped in for dinner on Wednesday 2nd September and once seated the waiter who served us,(sadly didn't get his name but our daughter think he was called Tyler?)was very helpful, food was very tasty and great value and listening to him serve other diner's who had allergies,he went above and beyond to help them by asking in the kitchen and was no way condescending, fantastic customer skills, keep up the good work.
G. M.
Good place to stay but bar and restaurant need refurbished.Pint if Carling lager 3.75 which is very reasonable.
P. A.
It is what it is, staff is friendly and food is not terrible but you wouldn't go there on a date. Refillable soft drinks and hot drinks are a good value for money. Carvery Sunday roast is ok
L. S.
Gastro pub. Fine in a pinch, clean and staff are friendly.
B. B.
Food could hold it's own in far more expensive restaurants. Perfectly poached egg, fabulous fishcakes and fresh salad. Did not expect this, particularly on a very busy Valentine's evening!
a. r.
Haven't been for two years. Dinner wasn't
Perfect but puddings were good.
E. M.
great breakfast lots to pick from . eat what you enjoy great start to your morning easy to find and plenty parking . friendly staff Thank you
l. G.
Nice convenient place to eat when overnighting at the premier in
M. G.
Good food, some of the menu not available for dinner, breakfast was good also, friendly staff.
r. r.
had a very pleasent and tasty meal here, only went because of a free birthday meal.
the staff were very friendly and had a good sence of humour.
we had mixed grill and salmon.
T. S.
Absolutely great service nice and friendly staff ,
M. Z.
Good location but desperately warm through the night. Fan was provided but did little to cool the room. Room 101 has very small windows, so in need of air con methinks
R. D.
Overal not bad family pub service needs to be better on food orders and clearing table based on my experience
E. P.
Brilliant pub. Food is superb and the staff are so friendly , nothing is too much trouble to them 💯💯💯
J. B.
Friendly staff although hard worked! They deserve a pay rise. Food good. Salads excellent. Steaks always cooked to request.
P. W.
We visited on a Saturday afternoon so it was not too busy. Food was lovely but some was slightly on the cool side. It's a lot cheaper if you go Monday -Friday 12pm-3pm though.
C. K.
Lovely meal with very friendly staff, not to long to wait for meal.
A. W.
Had a great breakfast here, large selection of meals available. On the day we visited they where cooking all the breakfasts to order, so really fresh and hot.
L. T.
Such an amazing atmosphere and prices. All the staff were helpful and made the experience worth every penny. Please make sure you visit them and enjoy amazing food.
D. B.
Not that brilliant, didn't enjoy it much there. Thought the carpet was dull, lights are too bright. Staff are friendly and have good banta and prices are reasonable. Food is average pub grub.
J. S.
Good grub at good prices, the grandkids ate free and they loved it!
S. M.
Food was ok but didn't have a lot of things on the menu.
C. C.
Great customer service friendly staff happy to help. Very affordable lots of care surrounding current covid issues, great food which came in a timely manner.
P. B.
Nothing special but pleasant staff and ok food.
I. E.
Good choice that caters for all dietary requirements :),
n. a.
We had a lovely family meal. We all felt very safe with the precautions that they have taken in the restaurant.
M. W.
Just 5 minutes off the M5. Cheap (Sainsbury's) fuel next door and quick, easy, value food in here. Why join the queues and rip off prices at the motorway services?
R. S.
Good food at e good price, great play area for the kids.
A. L.
Excellent service. Good food.
Asked for a variation of a meal, baked fish without batter, with a Jacket potato. Could not fault staff. Thanks.
I. S.
Pretty good. Not long to wait for food. Good all in all.
h. c.
Service is a bit slow but very friendly the young lady in the play area is very lovely and my grandson loves it there you get what you pay for food wise it's cheep and cheerful hich on a Thursday afternoon is just what was needed lpve coming here
G. L.
Large restaurant/dining area with inside and outside play area.
A bit gutted on the day that we visited as the inside play area was closed but we were lucky it was good weather so the little ones at least had something to do!
Good food, good price and good staff.
d. f.
Food is good and staff are very good. Breakfast is a bit limited choice but that is probably because of covid
W. E.
Was very disappointed that there was NO fish, neither cod or Pollock again when we went for lunch with friends today. This is not the first time it's happened and it's.also been the case in one of the Bristol Brewers Fayres. We are told it's the suppliers fault so perhaps you should change your suppliers to cover the demand of customers like us.
Wendy Ellis
P. W.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
S. T.
Good soft play area for the kids to play in whilst you have a drink or something to eat, not many pubs that have that facility. Food is pretty average though.
A. T.
Came on a Monday lunchtime. Two mains, two sweets and two drinks for £15, bargain! Pleasant place, clean and tidy, staff very nice.
M. C.
Eggs sausage and beans good .Bacon has no colour and looks like it was boiled . Next time we will have breakfast at sainsburys next door
A. N.
Food was OK and service was great. Only bad point was a wierd smell as you entered. It smelt a little like sewage. Only as you walked in couldn't smell it from the table.
C. R.
Lovely evening meal with friends. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
s. w.
Food was what you would expect. Staff were friendly but inconsistent. We were a table of 8 with 3 young children, 3 of us were served food the others had to wait while the waitress served food to another table! And the childs play area was closed.
J. V.
A disappointing visit to Brewers Fayre Gordano last night. No Sirlion Steak and No Pinot Grigio I dont believe it !! Its a Thursday night before the Bank Holiday. And their stocks had run out by 19.45. Lucky they made up for it we had a good rump steak & a bottle of house white that was good and cheaper. Get your stock levels sorted out please.
G. F.
First time there..Love the Pub.. comfortable, clean, nicely laid out and spacious plus good value, well cooked food.
K. S.
Nice carvery Good value good atmosphere recommend this one

R. W.
Great food perfunctorily service
S. C.

D. M.
The price of the play area has gone up and cost me 10.50 for just 3 children for 1 hr I thought that was very dear
J. B.
Good food at a decent price. Staff friendly and attentive. Restunant was clean and welcoming.
D. V.
This is as you would expect, situated right next to a premier inn. Had breakfast and dinner here on our recent trip to Portished. Staff were friendly and our vegetarian requests were met with solutions when requested.
M. F.
I just like the friendly service and the menu.
R. G.
Nice steak meal. Steaks cooked as we wanted, but chips a bit tired. Good cheerful service.
V. H.
Food was great, staff brilliant and were able be seated right away.
M. T.
Very nice and the girl on the bar (Jess I think her name was) was very helpful. She had a baby doll which was very disturbing but when asked nicely she put it away
M. B.
Had breakfast two mornings. Plenty of choice, but if you like your toast dark you may have to put it through the machine twice.
D. B.
Excellent meal of Baked Salmon on a bed of mash potato with hollindaise sauce and three green beans. Good service and very polite staff 🏅
D. W.
Good all-round restaurant, food and drink at a good price , large car park disabled friendly

A lovely meal with family to get together on Mother's Day

Food was cold that was left complained and got our money back.
Very disappointed.
J. Q.
Love this place. So relaxing with my kids. They are really accommodating of my autistic son. Couldn’t say a bad word about them.
T. T.
Last visit before lockdown. Good service and food. Felt safe at all times
M. J.
Very nice meal friendly staff
S.
Good food but children's area needs money spent as it has fallen apart
I. F.
Waited 35 minutes for food which was ok but one of the children's meals was incorrect, they did supply free deserts and a drink though, so they did tried to improve.
E. F.
Go here a lot out of hours as getting old and can't handle loads of screaming kids. Great value, great food choice.
J. M.
Food came quickly, pub was empty, but second choice as they couldn't do a mixed grill ?
J. Q.
Food was lovely. Problem with one of the meals was dealt with promptly and to our satisfaction.
S. R.
We enjoy regular stop offs here to allow the grandson play time plus we love the Meal Deal!
P. R.
Well cooked food, friendly staff and clean clear tables for a bank holiday weekend great service
d. d.
Its a place to eat, when there are vouchers available. Staff are helpful, and polite and the drinks are reasonable.
R. M.
