Reviews of Sai Kung Cafe

I personally really like this place! The staff are incredibly friendly and are always delighted to practice speaking Chinese with me and explain details about each dish and really want to make sure I’m happy with everything I order. I’ve had a pretty wide array of dishes and all have been very tasty. It’s a very simple place and I’m giving 5 stars for that combination of very tasty food and excellent, friendly service that keeps me coming back. 謝謝大家!

The food was very good. We had the 3 roast with rice. The portions were generous and My husband said it was the best roast meats he'd had, even better than Chinatown in London. Prices were very reasonable. This is the second we've eaten there. The first time the cutlery and the cups for tea felt a bit greasy, needed to sanitize them, otherwise everything excellent for a cafe/diner.

A fabulous place to go! Delicious food, awesome choice, friendly and caring staff. Great recommendations for bubble tea flavour combos.
One of our dishes, the salted egg buns, were amazing. But the staff still insisted they didn't look quite as good as they should and brought us a whole extra serving free. Both portions tasted delicious!

I tried their two rosties with rice (duck and char siu chicken). Unfortunately the duck was well over cooked so the texture was quite tough and chewy. Very generous portion though. The staff are very friendly and service was speedy.

We were lucky to catch the 50% off promotion at Sai Kung Cafe. It's been on my hit list for a while and we went all out! Hainanese chicken rice, three roasties rice and some sushi. Their service was good despite the queues. And they replenish food throughout the day - we timed it just right.
Onto the food, I'll start off with the pros. The three roasties was good value with a decent portion size. Comes with the classic sweet sauce. Roast pork was crispy and flavoured beautifully. I'm not crazy about char siu but theirs was decent. However, the duck was mostly skin and not much meat. They could be more generous with the pak choi as well.
Hainanese chicken rice was okay, I've had better in Bristol. Again the cut of chicken wasn't amazing and the sauce is a bit of a letdown. I did enjoy the rice though.
Sushi is best avoided. The sushi rice is bland and barely kept together. The fish was not very fresh but what can I expect from this kind of establishment.
Overall, it was a good cheap meal. I would still go back to try their breakfast items.

100% satisfied! We went there for the Dim Sum and having lived in Hong Kong for a while, can say this matches what's served over there extremely well! Very good prices and nice service. If you're looking for fancy surroundings, then this is not the place for you, but if you're looking for authentic dim sum, I would certainly recommend!

So traditional and so tasty, the price is also reasonable!

As somewhat of a Dim Sum connoisseur (self proclaimed) I was a bit hesitant to try this place in fear they wouldn’t satisfy my high Dim Sum standards.
But Oh boy am I glad I did, firstly the food was spectacular, we ordered a wide range of the menu and everything was top tier.
The service was chill and very efficient I could not fault this place. May have found my new fave place

Went in to try the new breakfast menu and loved it! Friendly staff, quick service. Hot and tasty food for a good price (Youtiao is a must have!) The pumpkin and millet congee was hearty and nourishing and the spicy marinated cucumber added a tasty, salty crunch. Can't wait too come back and try the dim sum! :)

Really great cantonese-style food here. Only had a plate of roast meat and rice, but it was easily the equal of (cafe-style) places in London Chinatown, and actually better than most. Belly pork was perfectly crispy and the duck was excellent. Whopping portions too, so make sure you're hungry. Good service too.

It’s good! I would happily return.
I sat in and had the two roast & rice option; roast belly pork and roast duck. Both were pretty good. I would put it close to par to what you would get served in a cafe in Hong Kong.
The servings size was a decent amount of each roast. Rice was good, the soy sauce was really good, slight sweetness to the soy and some of the meat juices added to the sauce to give it a nice savoury flavour.
Also, came with plum sauce for the roast duck which was pretty decent too.
Service was friendly and premises looked clean.
I also ordered the Xiaolongbao which was ok. It wasn’t brilliant but it wasn’t bad either. The roasts would be the reason to return!

Absolutely delicious. Had wonton noodle soup and a steamed pork and kimchi bun. Soup was simple, but full of character and really satisfying. The dumplings were perfect, I hoovered it all up. At £8 it’s a bargain. I wasn’t ready for the steamed bun - I thought it would be good, but it was next level! So fluffy and fresh, perfectly seasoned, and just slightly sweet. Wonderful place, going back there today.

Good value for a hearty lunch. The roast duck was done"mainland Chinese" style, meaning nicely cooked but randomly hacked into pieces with no regard for whether they had any actual meat or just bone.

The food is hot and tasty. Staff are friendly. Very good prices

Simply amazing - the dumplings come fresh and piping hot. Great range and amazing quality!

I was excited to try this place from the many raving reviews, and just my general mission to find good HK style food here.
Overall: food ok, but nothing to call home about. Service was excellent - friendly and fast - and the presentation for takeaway was good.
Roast duck: I got a half roast duck to see how they cut it and the condition of different cuts. Overall, I found it quite disappointing. The skin was oily and soggy, and even though I went at around 7:15pm so I can give it some slack, I've had reheated Hong Kong style roast duck with a better (hint of) crisp. It was also served with some sort of soy sauce, and not plum sauce which I was surprised about. Plum sauce would have helped offset the saltiness. Meat texture was pretty ok. Some pieces were chewier than others, but acceptable. I wouldn't describe it as tender though. I'd like to find out when they bring out the roasts so I can try it fresh.
Custard bun: ok. Custard was pretty good, though could be slightly richer. Bun was good, just a bit stodgy/sticky, but still pretty good. I think I'd buy it again regardless.

Everything fresh always. Authentic and only place with good Dim Sum in Bristol. Prices are very reasonable. Go to London and compare the quality and price before complaining

This is the best Char Siu Pork I've tasted for a long time. Portions are flipping huge for the money and the ice cream is great too. Service is second to none. You can tell its pretty authentic lots of Chinese eating here too. Always stop here for a dinner when I'm in the Bristol area.

Quick, simple and tasty food. An excellent option if time is short but your appetite is not. I will return one day to sample the tea 🙂

Absolutely must try! The food is always to die for, and I'm so happy there's a park Street restaurant now! I really recommend the duck toasties and their steamed buns 🤤 service is always amazing and never any problems!!

(Translated) There are many menu choices, and the space in the store is quite large and looks very clean. The three-fired rice has a large portion. My favorite is Pork Belly, which may be crispy freshly fried. I ordered a rice noodle and the taste is okay

菜单选择很多,店内空间挺大看起来很干净。三烧饭分量很大,最喜欢里面的Pork Belly,可能是刚炸出来的非常酥脆。点了一份米线味道也还可以
