As you can see an empty plate and that's how it should be! The lamb shewa was one the tastiest dishes I've tried in Cardiff! The lamb was slow cooked to perfection and the spices complemented it beautifully. The rice was on point and so was the hospitality. 100% I will return to this place and try other dishes

We ordered a half lamb from this restaurant as 7 of us we attended. I have to say that the lamb was an outstanding for all of us. The service was excellent and the brother Khalid was very welcoming and he couldn't do more for us): we would definitely come back again to this a great place!! Amazing food and welcoming hospitality ! Some might force themselves to be put off by the setup, being mediocre by contemporary standards but walk in and past any prejudice if you enjoy food made well and with taste to savour. Family in tow, our service from the pony tailed Libyan to the owner's young son taking our order and questions on allergens and re arranhing the order after 10 minutes of it patiently left nothing but good feelings towards the establishment. Went in late for a working day so ended up being the last ones out. Will be visiting soon and often with friends and family. 👍🏼 I woould give it 4.5 but then for the money and the atmosphere it`s a total winner!

We tried here after a friend recommended it. We were not disappointed at all. Great food, great staff and really well looked after throughout. We had Lamb Shewa, Lamb & Okra Stew and another lamb dish that was seasoned and cooked in spices. They all hit the mark really well and the portion sizes were just superb. The prices certainly did not break the bank. Would I recommend this place for something different to the other usual restaurants in City Road, Yes I would. Omani cuisine at its best. We will definitely be going again to try some of the other dishes on the menu. Thanks Mohamed for looking after us and guiding us through the menu.

This is the only restaurant that serves various Omani traditional dishes and meals in Cardiff and maybe in UK. Once you step inside, you feel like home. It's full of old Omani crafts and decorations. Food is very very delicious. They even serve Karak and other stuff. It definitely worths a visit. 😋👌

I can’t recommend this place enough. This is probably the best Middle Eastern food I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. The rice was so flavoursome the meat so succulent and tasted, the atmosphere amazing. All served in a private room where I could enjoy the company of my friends without disturbing any one else. Great authentic Omani food. I've had quite a few dishes but my favourite has to be the Lamb Shuwa, something you normally cannot find anywhere outside of Oman.

I have been there a couple of times now, and the first time was a disappointment. I ordered the Chicken Biryani, but what came was this humongous mountain of rice with a few small chicken pieces. The amount of rice was enough for 4 servings, but the chicken barely would suffice one. The rice itself however was flavoursome and after taking more than half my meal home, I was able to use other home-cooked meat with it. I also tried their Karak tea, which is one of the few places in Cardiff where it is available - a must try I would say! The second time was a quick visit and I ordered a Lamb Shish wrap which was really well flavoured and presented too (see picture!). I'd definitely come again to try the other more authentic Omani dishes.

Amazing authentic food. Highly recommend the grilled sea bass, lamb kabsa and shuwa. Cooked to perfection, the tenderness, the spices, its just delicious and tasty. Add the refreshing lemon mint drink to complete the experience.

Went with friends, some of the dishes were presented beautifully. Seabass with kabsa! Lamb shema with briyani rice, everyone forgot to take pics as they were busy eating. My veg spring rolls, french fries, falafel were hot not tepid, crispy & just lush! Sweet kadak chai!! Absolutely bang on! Portion size is lovely, they are not stingy, great old Omani... Visited with extended family, service was slow and food got cold fast. However the taste of the food is very good and everything is well seasoned. Staff is very attentive and although not always around they try their best. We had an issue with dirty tap water, not sure why there were pieces of napkin in it. My favourite were the grilled lamb chops. The decoration of the place is over board almost. Many things to distract your eyes and for a long time there have been bags of what seems to be plaster at the entrance. I believe that with a bit of more organization the service could improve greatly. I have visited before and when we were two, they were able to manage. So given the size of the restaurant I cannot imagine how they will manage when all tables are full.

The food was incredible and so was the service! Went there with my friends and they greeted us with complimentery tea which was really nice. The staff were extremely polite and regularly checked on us to see if we needed anything (not in an annoying way like most places). The food arrived pretty fast and the portions were large considering how reasonably priced it was. The food was immensely flavourful, even looked and smelt appetizing. Many middle eastern restaurants in city road generally consist of having the same taste of biryani, kebab etc.. but al wali stands out with its Omani culture which is clearly shown in the spices used in the food and decor of the restaurant. All being said I would highly recommend!!

Fantastic meal, great hospitality, delicious food. Cannot fault it. We were visiting in Cardiff, children were hungry so we needed a quick and easy meal. The hosts took us in. Guided the children through menu choices settling for a mixed platter consisting of deliciously cooked subtly spiced rice, roast lamb done the Omani way...slow roasted so that it was melt in the mouth, beautifully roasted chicken and there was the sea bass we discover they are renowned for. Before this we had a lighter platter of falafel, humous, eggplant and a chick pea and onion dish as our starter. It sounds and looked like a mountain of food, but our family of four and a toddler managed to just about clean up. It was a wonderful spread. If we were local, we would certainly return

Fabulous food and great delivery service! I recently used Al Wali to provide a buffet dinner for a company directors and management meal - 10 people.
